I thought during a pandemic theyd try cleanliness. The cabin of the truck was filthy, spilled coffee stains, dirty windshield, and didnt even sweep it out.I also informed the front desk the check engine light was on. They said its fine, its always on. It was not fine. The gears kept getting stuck on the highway, rpms flying up, had to pull over twice to unstick them. On top of that the cigarette lighter/adapter didnt work so we couldnt charge our phones for the GPS. It was a mess. First and last time using U-Haul.

I purchased moving boxes and supplies online and then went to store to pick up. The service I received was very good. They brought items to my car and loaded them in. There was a small problem, but they were quick to fix it. They are knowledgeable people that care about doing a good job. I will do business here again.

Made an appointment to have a hitch put on our new Subaru. They told us exactly how long for the part to come in and gave us an appointment. We went at the given time. They had the car done within the time frame they quoted. Could not have been easier and the price was fabulous.

Was charged for an extra day but equipment was returned before it was due...called customer service for a refund and was put on hold while they spoke with the manager at the store...was told by customer service that the store manager would take care of it immediately...almost 10 days later and 3 additional phone calls to customer service...my issue was resolved. It is ridiculous for uhaul to believe that having a manager like him on the payroll is good for business. Ive seen the reviews for this branch and its all bad! if you have to return equipment or rent go to another branch even if it cost slightly more its better than having your time wasted!

The manager displays the lowest level of professionalism humanly possible. He threatened to “pocket the cash” of the trailer was not returned within the allotted time frame. Nothing like threatening to embezzle customers money! Only needed the trailer for 2 hours. Save yourself the headache and GO ELSEWHERE!

So I went 5 miles round-trip and was overcharged not only once but 4 days later again! I look at my bank account and have paid well over $100 for a $29 charge! When I call because I notice the third charge, the general manager Brandon did nothing but yell at me, cut me off, tell me he already knew who I was and where I worked (so basically letting me know he and his team were looking at my info for nearly a week knew what was going on and declined to call me ) told me that his employees overcharged me yet acted as if was my fault didnt ever apologize then made it out as if I was a liar and told me to bring proof ( which I will gladly provide) .point is the general manager of this branch is unapologetic, unproffesional, rude and down right arrogant .This issue should have been easy to handle yet the general manager literally doesnt let me talk to even explain my issues and talked over me ? Please not only learn how to handle the issues your employees cause with care but the public as well . We are people who just want to be treated fairly just like you do.remember the Golden rule Mr Brandon .take care and God bless you.

I worked there for a month and was general manager of the store. It is the busiest U-Haul in Roanoke. Great people with great service. I will rent from them again as I was a customer first and employee second.

The staff was friendly very helpful with suvgesting items I may or may not need. Provided additional information on packing supplies and products avalia le to purchase.Was in and out quickly.without any issues!! Will definitely be back to finish purchasing packing supplies.for upcoming move.

I made reservation over the phone for a truck and appliance dolly.The day before the reservation, they called to ask me if I would cut my reservation short, so they could rent the truck to another family before my scheduled return time. I told them I would try.When I arrived Saturday morning, they did not have the truck I reserved. They said I could either go to Franklin Road to get a 26 truck (much larger than I needed) or to Salem to get a 15 truck (smaller than my reserved truck).I ended up driving to Salem to get a truck. However, when I got there, the appliance dolly that I had reserved was not there. I had to go back to the Hershberger location to get a dolly.I told the gentleman at the Salem location that I intended to return the truck to my original rental location, Hershberger Road, and he said that would be fine.At this point, i was at least two-and-a-half hours late getting started on my move, which I had limited time to complete.When I was finished, I returned the truck to the Hershberger Road location, but was told by the unpleasant associate there that I cannot return the truck to that location, and that if I did, I would be charged a $700 fee. I asked him if I could speak with the manager, and he gave me a card and told me I was welcome to call.The manager did not answer his mobile phone. I asked the associate if he could call, and he texted the manager and told me the manager wrote back and told me to call again. I called several more times, but no answer.In the end, I had the rental truck I needed and barely got moved in time. My rental was not discounted, and, in fact, I ended up paying more than I would have otherwise, because I now had to pay for additional miles and gas because I was sent to a location that was farther away.For what its worth, the associate told me that just because someone reserves equipment from U-Haul, and even has a confirmed reservation, it does not mean that there will be equipment for them to rent. I thought this sounded odd, so I confirmed with him that I understand it correctly, and he acknowledged that I do.Its too bad a single star is the lowest rating that can be applied here.

Tried to get a hitch installed on my car. U-haul website gave time and date for installation. Was told at this store hitch could not be installed until least two weeks after original appointment. Also, made multiple calls to check status with at least 15 minute wait each time. Never received a call FROM U-haul until after the appointment date.

Be careful going here. One uhaul will say you only need a penny on your card to just have a card on file, then we get here and they say it needs to be the full amount. Waited on hold for 30 minutes. First we were told $0.71 a mile then when we arrived now its $0.79.

Brandon wasnt working but I did get a hold of him and he is going to fix the problem but the older gentleman that he has working for him is very disrespectful rude and horrible customer service he was really trying to talk to me like I didnt know what the hell I was talking about but I rent from U-Haul very often so I know. If it wasnt for the older rude gentleman I would get five stars Brandon was awesome

Rented trailer for 9 days, dropped it off at the end of the day and was told they are busy so he cannot scan it now, but will get it scanned in a few. It didnt get scanned till next day and got charged for an extra day. Called to follow up and stayed on the phone for 20 min, they took many name and never called back. Call the 800 number, stayed on hold for 35min. What a joke. Never rent from this store again.

Prices are very misleading when you call in to reserve a truck. The CSR is very pushy trying to get your card number and reserve a truck when I was quoted 40 some dollars for a 50 mile trip the CSR said nothing about mileage and all the extra fees that ended up costing me a total of $116. Will never use your services again.

About two months ago we had moved and for time being had to put out belongings into a storage shed. Figured since were getting the truck from uhaul why not use the uhaul storage unit right there. Our stuff was in there for a little bit longer then a month. We got our stuff and moved... We did the whole 9 yards. check appliances, check corners, Windows, cabnits, walls etc. we still of course wanted to clean the new house we are moving into. We bombed as well. No bugs. Even did night checks before we moved to make sure no night bugs. We move out stuff in. We have roaches, and just today was a surprisingly shock mice. We have never had bugs, and mice before besides flys and knats.. their storage sheds are not protected all the way up. You can see your neighbors belongings (just a little). Also this place sucks on customer service and dont like to return money they wasnt supposed to pull out of your debt card (50 bucks)

First off, Mark Reynolds, the guy that left the 5 star review is the Manager, Heres a different viewpoint:On Saturday, April 30th we rented a 10 truck for the day in order to move some items locally. After the first couple of hours or so, the engine began smoking a bit and the check engine light came on. The truck appeared to be burning oil. We were concerned about continuing to drive it, and possibly making the engine problem worse, so we parked it and called U-Haul for instructions. I was advised that since we were only a few minutes away from the rental location, and the truck still ran, we should just return it there, rather than have it towed. I inquired about a partial refund, as we were only able to use it for about three hours, and had put less than 25 miles on it. I was told that I should speak to the GM when we returned it, and that he would take care of the situation.When we arrived at the rental location, we parked the truck in the return area and I went inside to complete the return. There were about five people waiting for service, and there seemed to a problem with the printer. The young man behind the counter was trying to handle returns and reservations by himself, as best he could. After a few minutes, another young man came in and began yelling at the guy behind the counter. He shouted that the store was now CLOSED FOR BUSINESS. There would be no more reservations or rentals until all the backed up returns were processed, and that anyone returning a truck should leave their key and go. They would get an invoice by email. The woman in front of me was trying to pick up her rental, and was so offended that she threatened to lay him out, if he spoke to her like that again. When I tried to tell him that there was a problem with our truck, and that I was told to speak with the Manager, he started screaming at me that the manager was off and that he had had a long day and was not about to take any s*** from anybody. He went behind the counter, grabbed a business card and tossed it at me, telling me to call the GMs cell phone if I had a f***ing problem, and that I needed to get the f*** out of HIS store.I left the store and called the number on the card, and I assume it was you I spoke with. Being upset, I tried to explain to you what had occurred, and your response was: This is my day off, and thats your side of the story. I get complaints from customers all the time, and Im not going to take their word over my employees. With all due respect, that is the worst Manager response to a customer. Ever. Although you implied that it was my own fault that your employee had a meltdown and started screaming and swearing at everyone in the store, please understand that he came in to the store in a rage and screamed at the guy behind the counter for about five minutes before he turned on the customers.You have attached an invoice for $81.72 cents, for a truck that I was able to drive less than 25 miles. I feel that this amount should be prorated, as we were not able to use it for the full day, or get another one in its place. Furthermore, please be aware that rather than use my voice to engage with your out-of-control employee, I prefer to use it as a consumer. I will be filing a complaint with UHaul Corporate Offices and the Better Business Bureau. I will also be leaving detailed reviews on the U-Haul site, Angies List, Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and any other site where a consumer might find your store. I will also post this on Facebook and forward it to everyone I know in Roanoke and ask them to do the same. You should also know that the guy behind me recorded the incident on his cell phone, so there is a good chance that he will be posting the video online. I dont necessarily believe that the customer is always right, but I do believe the customer always deserves to be treated with respect. Your employee does not seem to think so.

Had an appointment and was called by them to see if I want to come in early because someone else did not show up so I arrived 2 hours early for my new appointment only to wait the whole 2 hours before they get to my car only to be told they dont have the parts I ordered and I should come back another time and they could put it on because now they are closing.

Scheduled for hitch last Friday and when halfway there got a call no hitch. Today scheduled for 1pm show up and guess what ....no hitch....Im done with Uhaul.....
