Very disappointing. Stopped by after reading other reviews. I needed a stereo harness or stereo equipment installed.They sold me a harness for $130.00 that was not needed and not a returnable item.I asked 3 times, how much do you charge to install a stereo and did not get an answer.I found the help rude, unwilling to listen, and more concerned with making an unnecessary sale, scamming a 130.00 sale to an individual who they viewed as an easy target to rip-off.Simply a disgusting company who will scam you for profit... do not use this company if you are not a audio specialist or stereo expert. They will see your lack of audio knowledge and take advantage of your lack of knowledge for profit.Sad because I would have had 3 more install jobs for them had they not given me the shaft.

Came in to buy a Sonos speaker, and when I entered I was greeted by two employees, neither of whom were wearing masks during a global pandemic. Had they not been the only store in town with the speaker I wanted, I would have turned right around.I will not be back.

Recently had them in to mount a TV to the wall in our bedroom. They had previously done work mounting and connecting the equipment in our family room. The sales folks at the Greece store were very helpful in determining exactly what I needed. The installer (who was the same person that did the previous work) was superb. Quick, efficient, very clear in explaining things and went above and beyond answering a couple questions we had not related to the current job. We highly recommend them for any AV equipment of service (and they’re local, to boot!) Thanks guys!
Had some trouble with subs/ amp I installed myself from Ebay and went here in search of answers. These guys immediately ran out to my car (I think Paul and some other guy) to troubleshoot the problem with me. Being that I did not purchase the system from them, I did not expect that level of help but needless to say they will DEFINITELY get my business in the future! They are nothing less than honest, understanding, and knowledgeable folk here who seem extremely passionate about their work👌🏾

I have gone here twice to purchase and have installed 2 car starters. The staff have always been very helpful and knowledgeable. They were very reasonably priced as well. Installed the car starters in a couple hours and you could have adjusted how long you want it to run too. I recommend them.Upset this location closed.

The Stereo Shop installed our equipment and receiver several years ago. Usually, I can troubleshoot problems myself, but when I was having a few difficulties they came out to check. Awesome problem solving and great explanations will let me resolve the issue myself next time if it happens again. Also, no pushy up-sell! So glad we bought our system from them!!

The folks at The Stereo Shop have been working with me over the last few months to get a modest entertainment center installed in my newly constructed home. The people Ive personally met - owner Chris Brent and installers J.R. and Neal - have actually made the entire experience, including the installation, a pleasure. I would not hesitate to hire them again, and Ive already recommended them to two friends looking to upgrade their existing media systems. These guys were, in a word, terrific. If youre looking for professional, efficient, fairly priced multimedia installations or upgrades, look no further.
I went there and spent almost $2000 on speakers and an amp. They removed my drivers seat to install the amp and when I picked it up they handed me One of the 4 safety bolts that hold my seat down. As the bolt had been cut by them and they argued with me stating that they did not do that. However I keep my vehicle impeccably clean and detailed every couple days, so it would be noticed immediately. The manager Matt argued with me over the phone and is refusing to except responsibility for this. It is quite apparent that their shop has no concern on the safety of individuals and it would be in best interest of the owner to contact me to rectify the situation. The manager refused to even listen to me and was getting loud with me over the phone, nor was he going to pass the information onto the owner. I would highly recommend that no one takes their vehicle there as I am now in a battle to have them replace this bolt in which secures the seat down so that in the event of an accident your seat doesnt detach.I would appreciate assistance from all of my friends to leave a negative review based on The negligence and concern of customers safety!Many witnessed yesterday how my seat IS NOT SECURED down as the back lifts up!I thank all who support and share this! We cant let others be treated this way!!
Christopher Brent sold audio/video in Massachusetts before moving back to the Rochester area to start this business and a family. I have never met anyone with the product knowledge he has and the ability to explain the ever changing technology to the average lay person. When I am making a large purchase I still only buy from the Stereo Shop, it is worth the trip. The large box stores have wiped out most of the stores like this but if you want to be treated fairly and understand what your buying you should only shop here.Robert FitzgeraldPlymouth, MA
First off, I want to thank Chris (the owner), Julio my salesperson, and Matt for the Highest customer service and the best experience I received from the Stereo Shop. I purchased a large amount of home theater equipment from them and noticed a few issues with the screen and projector after everything was set up in my home. I contacted them right away and within 2 weeks I now have a brand new screen plus an upgrade to a better projector. They went way beyond and above to make me happy... I am a stereo shop customer for life because of that. In addition to my home theater system, I had them install a sweet audio system in my car 2 years ago and I am still extremely blown away by their quality of work. Thanks again guys for your integrity and for treating me so well. It wont be forgotten.

Happy with the look of the install but they broke a transmission cable clip inside my vintage car. I found this out several years later after losing the ability to put it into 1st gear and Reverse. Now thats what I call First World Problems! The transmission shop says it was goobered up with a bobby pin. Theres also a draw on the battery related to the amp installation. The first sub was blown within weeks and they blamed it on streaming low quality dubstep and hiphop. Because the work was done years ago, I know they cant and wont accept responsibility. Ill be going somewhere else in the future.
JR and Chris provide GREAT service and equipment. I like to do some limited installation work myself but The Stereo Shop is always there to back me up. I recently made some changes to my home theater system and need my remote (that i purchased there several years ago) reprogrammed. JR came out the same day and also help me with a few odds and ends to get my Wii up and working with everything system. I recommend them to everyone.

I have visited both the Greece and Webster location to obtain stereo equipment and in-home services, and I am very pleased with their knowledge and professionalism. The most recent project included consolidating 5 different remotes into one unit. They did an excellent job and openly shared techniques to improve my overall Home-Entertainment experience. The Stereo Shop will always be my first stop when stopping for Home-Entertainment equipment.
They do NOT care about safety. They look at you as just a dollar sign. A close friend of mine went here and had a whole sound System installed.(4 speakers in the door and a amp that was put under the driver side seat) to put the amp in they had to remove the driver seat. So instead of unbolting one of the bolts that hold the seat down they decide to cut it off. Then when he went to pick up the truck, instead of telling him they cut it they lied and told them they found the head of the bolt inside the truck. But looking at the bolt you can clearly see signs of heat from when they cut it. They told him that they did Not cut the bolt. So they left him with a seat that moved forward and was not Secured to the vehicle. So if he was to get into an accident he would have been launched through the windshield..DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!

When it comes to electronics, I need to go where I trust not only the product, but also the staff that I buy from and also trust the installation they perform. I have been a loyal Stereo Shop customer since the 1980’s and will never go anywhere else. I have purchased several surround sound arrangements and I have been enjoying my tv viewing and music as a result of this company’s products and staff. My most recent purchase I dealt with Chris. No hard sell and no “you should buy this more expensive model”. Chris listens to you needs and follows from there. JR, who I’ve experienced as the most talented and knowledgeable installer of any TV, Receiver, speaker systems, etc. He’s also incredibly fast yet takes time to explain all the ins and outs of what he installs. Try them just once and I guarantee you will be a lifetime customer like me!!

These guys are the most knowledgable in the area when it comes to new technology in home theater, networking and sound. Compared to a Big Box store with sales clerks that rotate through different departments and can only give you their opinion not the facts, The Stereo Shops employees are all specialists and dont try to sell everything. Worth every penny to not have to return something that was not what you were looking for.

Disrespectful as HELL. When looking to buy some stereo equipment, the sales guy said hed give us a deal if we bought all three pieces we were looking at. We bought all three, but when he rang it up, he said the total and I said what about the deal? He says oh yeah, gives us 8 FING DOLLARS OFF ON AN OVER 700 DOLLAR PURCHASE. Then he kept LAUGHING about it!
Watch these guys and read the fine print. They will charge you $75.00 if you miss an appointment. Not even my doctor charges for a missed appointment. I will not be going back!

We had our original system installed by the Stereo Shop 10 plus years ago. I upgraded our TV to a OLED 4K and JR was able to install a new 4K HDMI cable thru our wall, re-connect all system components, surround speakers and IR repeaters from our original system! No upsell just very knowledgeable and professional. I will make certain to continue purchasing all future system components from the Stereo Shop.

Couldnt be happier! JR took his time, in a very professional manner, to discuss options for my Sonos system install with outdoor speakers. He did not try to up-sell me in any way. Explained all the options I had in order to satisfy what I wanted. Came back and installed the system immaculately, asking for my input the entire time. JR did not leave until all of the music streaming services I use were connected to the system. I previously used a small, bluetooth speaker when entertaining on our deck. EVERY visitor to our deck now states the Sonos system is Game Changer! A thousand Thank Yous JR!

My husband got me a remote starter for Christmas 2011, so sweet! My car is manual transmission and no one else in town will touch them because you have to override a safety feature to install, but the Stereo Shop assured him they were trained and able to do this. The remote start they installed was done improperly and after 3 trips back to let them fix it I asked for our money back. I had brought my car to the dealer I bought it from and the mechanics there said that Stereo Shop had messed with the wiring in a way that they wouldnt touch and for me to bring it back to be uninstalled by SS. The owner or store manager, cant remember his name, but he was a real gem of a customer service leader, told me that we could only have store credit if we returned the starter. I told him that I had no faith in his services and would not buy anything there ever again - that they sold us a service that they could not deliver and no return policy in the world warrants the withholding of a refund in that circumstance. He berated me and my father in his store, so I decided to go another route. I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau. The store manager/owner was quick to smooth things over and offered the refund. I repealed the BBB complaint as that was his condition for the refund, however after a full week of not refunding our money, I refiled the complaint. He finally issued the refund, saying that we got lost in the shuffle and he never intended to withhold the refund. Liar, but we did finally get our money back and my dealer said there was no permanent damage to my car... seriously, though? All that, when they could have been honest from the get-go and said (as every other install shop in town says) that they cant do a manual transmission remote start install. I guess theres a reason they are the only ones who will do it - they lied, they tried to steal our money when the lie was found out and they caused a lot of stress for me and my family for about a month while we fought with them. I realize this is my side of the story and I am biased, but I hope that my story will influence you enough to realize there are better businesses in town that you can work with instead of this incredibly low class establishment. If I can save even one customer from making the mistake we made, then my time spend in writing this review is well worth it! Good luck shopping :)
My car stereo broke a few years ago and the Stereo Shop installed a new one, for a great price and really quickly. Last month they installed a sound system for my living room and its fantastic. The guys are all really nice and the service is quick and reasonably priced.
I took my car to Chris at the Stereo Shop for a remote car starter and electric locks for my car. He was very professional and explained exactly what was gonna be done and exactly how long it was going to take. As a single mom it was very reasuring to take my car to someone who was so very trustworthy! I will definitly bring my car back to Chris and everyone at the Stereo Shop if I need ( or want ) anything else!! Thanks for providing such excellent service!!

I always have the best experience with StereoShop! Ive been to two locations - one to get keyless entry installed, another to get a stereo deck installed. At both locations, they treated me like a king. Ever see I Robot? Asked one of their employees while I was waiting. When I said yes, it was one of my favorite movies, he brought me back to their sound testing room, and turned it UP on a huge screen, in a room with leather couches! Best waiting experience ever! Similar treatment at the other location. When a cord fell out from behind my dash, they fixed it without any questions and were very friendly. Stereo Shop is the one place I will totally tell my friends about!
Great prices great customer service and when you go in there you just wanna buy everything its like the Apple Store of cars and any electronics way better then best-buy or or any other sterio shop in Rochester I have been to them all. Highly recommend if you need amps,stereos,tint, radar detectors and much more check it out even to look at the giant tvs for sale that are 4K tvs very nice place. Glad to have it in Greece.

Complete hacks! Would not recommend under any circumstances. The employees pay no attention to details whatsoever and management refuses to hold themselves or the employees accountable for simple mistakes. There is no excuse to hand a customer the keys back to an unsafe vehicle

Dont stand behind merchandise at all, lousy customer service (get better service from Best Buy). Bought a car stereo that developed a short within a few months. Because the manufacturer changed model number (as all electronics companies do every year) the only thing the Stereo Shop was willing to do was rip it out and ship it to Kenwood. I was told I would only have a big hole in my dash for 10-14 weeks (I would have been happy with any type of loaner radio but nothing was available).The manager, Jim just blamed Kenwood for this, he told me that THEY were the ones screwing me over with defective merchandise not the Stereo Shop.So beware, The Stereo Shop does NOT stand behind the products they sell. They will smile and blame the maker when it fails and offer a BIG $20 discount on a new one.

I began a Home Theater project about 6 months ago. I went to another local shop (Not Stereo Shop) and all they wanted to do was sell me product, they were not at all helpful.I then went to the Stereo Shop in Greece and the team worked with me to determine the best fit for my room and budget. They took the time to help me figure out where the projector should go and which speakers were the best for the room. I purchased product over time, not all at once. The guys never pressured me to buy and were always willing to answer questions. Over time Ive purchased an Epson projector, Denon amplifier, and Polk 7.1 speaker system. Everything works flawlessly.Recently I had one of the experts out to the house to calibrate the setup. They found a couple of things that I configured incorrectly and set up the balance on all the speakers. Now the soundstage sounds even and it looks and sounds amazing!I highly recommend the team at the Stereo Shop for your home theater project.-John
I first learned of the stereo shop from my father and remember spending hours looking at AV gear. I have yet to find a better place to purchase electronics in Rochester and would reffer them to anyone in my family. I had my home theater and TV installed and the Tech were very professional.
Google makes you give a star so I had to put one on there. What a terrible way to conduct a retail/service business. The owner was very offensive and couldn’t answer simple questions. I stopped ready to spend over $1,000 and he couldn’t provide any relevant information. Go somewhere else.

I purchased a Groupon for an automatic car starter as a gift for Christmas. They tell my friend that they cant install it until February 13th (she called right after Christmas to make the appointment.) Okay, fine. I get that youre busy in the winter with car starters. What absolutely horrified me is that when we picked up her vehicle, it reeked of marijuana. It wasnt just a hint of it--we had to roll down the windows in 0 degree weather. Even the store smells like marijuana. They had a candle to try and mask the smell. I called the store and asked why I paid $200 to have someone under the influence work on her car. I spoke to Julio. He acted surprised but it was obvious he was the culprit. He called me back and said he filled out a form detailing the complaint and that the owners would call me in the next few days. I asked him if it was an electronic form--he said it was an email to the owner. I then asked if he could forward that email to me so that I could have proof of the call in case the car has issues and we have to settle in small claims court. He began stuttering, uh, Im not sure if were supposed to do that... then he asked if I was sure it was marijuana and not body odor, because the other guy...smells. I wasnt amused. The other workers name was Steve. I asked who the owner was since Im sure shell never hear of this. He told me that her name was Kathleen. Well Kathleen, if youre reading this, I have something to tell you about your employees--theyre going to put you out of business. I wanted to support a local business (instead of just going to Bestbuy). It was a decision I regret. Ill be sure to spread the word around Rochester.

Its not every day you bring your brand new high end luxury car with already excellent sound and supreme staging to a Stereo Shop for better quality. I pride myself on being a audiophile and settling for no less than a PERFECT installation and excellent customer service. At the Stereo Shop in Greece Chris Brent, Marty, Ted, Dan and JR give you just that! I got a clean, utterly staggering sound system with a great price and support for all of my crazy audio questions. My 2012 Range Rover was what most Car Audio shops called an ÏMPOSSIBLE INSTALL and refused to even look at it. The Stereo Shop not only in confidence took it in but worked with the Local Range Rover Dealer to ensure proper installation and warranty coverage for me. This Shop wont rush you or sell you something you dont need o you dont want. They love CAR AUDIO and want you to love your sounds as well. Stop at the Shop!!!!!!!
We shopped around the big chain stores for a new TV but the guys over at The Stereo Shop beat their prices and were much more knowledgeable. We would definitely make another purchase from them.

Dont let them work on your car!!! They cut the bolt securing the driver seat to the car, leaving the car a death trap, and now refuse to fix it.
Had the team here install a killer JL Audio car audio system in my pickup truck. They had to do a TON of custom work to make it all fit and it sounded GREAT. I had:2 JL 13.5 W72 JL 1000/1 amps2 caps that looked like nos tanks2nd alternatorJL components all the way around with a JL 4 channel ampEverything back lit with blue ledEVERYTHING dynamat for no rattleCant thank them enough. It was exactly as I pictured and sounds even better. I will always come here for anything I need with My cars or trucks.
