Having been a mechanic in my younger years, it is difficult to trust someone else with my car. I can tell when a mechanic is pulling a fast one and feeding me a line of bull. Well, I have to tell you, I just had a great experience at Westgate Auto Center. I took my Acura in that had an oil leak. It was leaking from the distributor seal. Phil, the mechanic, told me he could replace the seal for fairly cheap but being the car has 348,000 miles on it, it would be a good idea to replace the whole distributor. Exactly how I would have handled the situation. Offer the inexpensive route and offer my professional opinion of what I would do. The quote for the new distributor installed was around $400. When I picked up the car, the bill was only $324! When has that ever happened to you in an auto shop? Thank you Phil, you have earned my trust and my business!

Ive been taking my cars to Lee and the guys at Westgate Auto for 20 + years, and LOVE that I can always trust them. Finding an honest mechanic is tricky, but here you have that. I took my car into another shop (because it was right next to where it broke down) and they quoted me $500 more than what Westgate later did. Theyre efficient, friendly and honest.

No frills, good service. One day service for an alternator. Price quoted was reasonable. When you go to some repair shops they try to sell you other services, or tell you this, and that needs replacing. Not here! Very pleased!

I moved to Salem this summer and along with a good haircut, finding a good mechanic is on the list of needs but daunting.My ‘09 Grand Caravan was making a noise like a tiger trying to spit up a disagreeable bit of buffalo. Squeaky Wub Wub Thud over and over. So I called and brought my van in the next morning.Well I found my new mechanic.They listened, thought a bit, then borrowed my keys. Drove it, out it in the lift, fixed, drove it, handed me the keys.Driver front tire was very loose. It happens; you got four wheels and sometimes folks get in a rush. No trash talking other peoples’ work, no fuss.And no charge; just keep us in mind if you need anything.Well. The Instant Oil Change places have even lost my business. Fair, honest, courteous, and considerate of my time issues (I explained I needed to pick my child up from school that afternoon, and that was taken into consideration).I can’t recommend an honest, customer-focused, and not greedy mechanic enough.

I have had my car in twice for repairs. The team here is friendly and upfront. Both times my final bill was less than I was originally quoted. They seem to do quality work at a fair price. They have never tried to upsell me on extra services.

We took our daughters car in to find out why it wouldn’t start, they were very honest and thorough they had the car for less than 24 hours and found the problem called me to let me know what they found ordered the parts and made the repairs and had the car back to us. I would definitely recommend these guys and will use them again in the future!!

I have been going to these guys for 20 plus years, have always been happy withtheir work. They moved recently because of the intersection construction at Wallace and Glen Creek. They are a couple of blocks to the south, but still on Wallace Rd.Please dont retire any time soon Lee, your the best in the West, Salem that is.

Originally rated it a 1, because I was severely misquoted how long it would take to fix the problem, and then the problem was not actually fixed. However, when I arrived to finally pickup the problem, they had done enough work to make the car usable. The price was fair, and working directly with Lee is nice, and my overall experience was average.

I dont mean to hurt the business. I appreciate the owner. But Im hurt by what has happened several times with one of the employees and wanted to throw it out there. Hopefully Manuel wont do this to other customers. Thank you Jesse for your concern, but I wont pursue this matter any further.

This has been my family go-to for years. Always up front with us and wanting to solve the issue. The most recent fix was a misfiring cylinder that brought in to scan at 4:40 on a Friday. I wasnt expecting to get it back til Monday at the earliest. I got a call at about 6:00 saying it was ready for pick up. I actually had to adjust plans to be able to come pick it up on Saturday morning!Im always happy to bring my vehicles to Westgate, even if the reason isnt the best ;)
