Ive been here more than a few times, and I can tell you, it is consistent. Which is great, because the service is excellent, patient, not pushy, knowledgable of their product, and take pride in presenting it to you. The cocktails are very well made, and their revolvers are creative, Ive been surprised, but, never disappointed. I recommend this place all the time. The decor is comfortable, and well laid out.
We stopped in for some fancy drinks to enjoy outside on a hot day. The drinks were fine, and we were most pleasantly surprised by the food! Definitely go all in on the tacos. So good. The atmosphere is neat inside, but we are outside diners for now and enjoyed the seating options on the sidewalk. Well be back!
The drinks are absolutely delicious! A bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it. I had the hummus appetizer and loved it and then a wrap for dinner and it was pretty good as well. The employees were friendly and helpful!
Went here with my sister. Cool atmosphere and nice staff but the food was garbage. My fried chicken was meat that tasted like it had turned bad I didnt eat it. My sister got the Mac and cheese with chicken. The chicken was charred to oblivion also inedible although it was fresh unspoiled meat. We thought the Mac was OK but when we left with it boxxed we ended up throwing away because it actually like..stunk. it was filling my car with a really weird smell. I like this place so I was super disappointed
0 STARS... Save your money and go somewhere else!If I could leave a 0 star review I would. We ate here before Covid and had cocktails, which were good. The food was good, not great but good enough that we would return again. Tonight we went there I ordered a lemon drop (which Ive ordered before) and a long Island ice tea for drinks and the cheeseburger and phó tacos. Our drinks were tiny and both made incorrectly and were barely drinkable. My lemon drop was made with so much triple sec that I could barely drink it....I doubt they put vodka in it. My husbands long Island was clearly not made with a shot of each alcohol and did not taste like a long Island ice tea. The drinks were tiny, but yet we paid the same price for full sized drinks in an upscale bar/restaurant.The tacos, my husband literally took one bite and couldnt stomach anymore. He had a side of Caesar salad which was so over salted that he couldnt eat more than two bites and made him cough because of the salt. My cheeseburger was severely overcooked and while it had seasoning, it left it weird after taste in my mouth....I only took one bite and couldnt eat anymore. The service was subpar, when I asked for a modification during ordering the server said to me I dont know if we can..... and left it at that, never offered to go ask or put it on the order and see if the kitchen could accommodate. When he came by to ask how the food was and my husband asked for the check, he simply said okay but even after looking at our uneaten food didnt ask what was wrong. Nor did they ask or really seem to care when we got up and husband told them what was wrong. While they credited our food when we got up to pay, the service was overall dismal, the food was horrible and the drinks were better suited for the gutter.Save your money, dont go here! We ended up at better restaurant where the staff actually seem to care and the food was 1000 times better.
Ordered online and it was $20 with an hour wait for coffee and a wrap. Coffee is always good, if be it small (12 oz) got the wrong thing (salad instead of a wrap). Lettuce wasnt cut up properly so each bite was very long. Chicken was overly salty, and it was over dressed and very wet. Will be back for coffee but will think twice before getting food again.
I would leave zero stars if that were an option. I decided to leave after being treated as if I were invisible for 22 minutes. We were taken to our table and forgotten about. I would excuse the inattentive staff, if it weren’t the 3rd time I received poor service at this establishment. I’m patient, but I’m afraid I’ve run out of chances. I don’t want to waste my time on second rate service, especially on the rare occasions that I can enjoy a night out.
Theyve really curated a special vibe in this place. Signature cocktails concocted by breezy bartenders, who have to climb a sliding ladder for the toppest of shelvesDrew was a straight up boss for our walk-in party of 11, nailed our orders without the use of pen & pad, and provided an excellent start to our night. All the food was banging too. And they also serve as a coffee bar as well. Definitely one of my Salem favorites.
Archive is a great place to meet and chat and just enjoy. The feeling is great and the drinks and food are excellent. The staff is helpful and professional. Always a great experience.
Weve stopped here a couple times on road trips, and neither the food or drink disappoint. Awesome cheeseburger and Caesar wrap, and killer fries/sweet potato chips. The specialty coffee drinks are also a treat. Really appreciate the attention to detail they are putting into COVID restrictions and safety guidelines, too. Plus, its just a gorgeous and spacious spot.
The food had great flavor and seemed fresh. Its not a great value, but it was a fun experience. It was fairly quiet and a good place to catch up with a friend. They have a variety of options from which to choose. You can probably find something youll enjoy (but you might not think its worth what you paid).
The best drinks and coffee ! Always so unique and delicious. A must when stopping by downtown.
Their coffee is incredible!! Its definitely a little pricy for the sizing, but I think its definitely worth it! Their latte flavors are so unique and I love bringing friends from out of state here!
Bad management got kicked out after being seated and had our food ordered, after about 10 min or so Was told we had to leave because one of us had no ID on us when they asked, after 9 pm which was understandable, but Was told one thing from waiter and another by manager. Manager kicked us out ( African American lady with super short orange hair to no hair) very unprofessional, rude and disrespectful . Acting over powerful due to role. There staff need to get In the same page and waiter said we can drink our water and go, but manager came and rudely came at us with this attitude. when making a mistake(seating us before checking ID, getting our order making us wait and then say we can finish our water) take action for it and not blame or disrespect the client. And this is exactly what happen we got kicked out, disrespected and blamed for a host mistake.
The atmosphere is pretty chill no one gets overly loud so you cant hear your friends, but not quiet like a library.
BAM! It hits you. The warmth of the ginger and the peppercorn. Theres no acidity, and no pain, but the finish is somehow just a tiny bit spicy! Its one of the oddest, and most satisfying sensations youve ever experienced from food. The espresso hits, carrying another wave of the perfectly spicy-sweet foam.
There are a ton of coffee options in Salem, and a lot of overpriced cafés to sift through. Save yourself the trouble, Archive is your go-to for excellent conversation with the staff, vegan-friendly foods, and a wonderful oat milk latte. While the prices were on the higher end, and the extra cost for dairy-free creamer was a surprise the cashier didn’t mention, the whole experience was awesome. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and fast, free WiFi. It’s remarkably rare to find a coffee shop that offers oat milk. Just wish the cauliflower tacos were either larger portions, or more cauliflower/chickpea and less cabbage filler.
I had the hamburger, was good, thats it. I had a cold coffe, no good.
Spicy mac and cheese was bland. Ive had better from kraft. They gave us the bread we bought cold. The lemonade was bomb. The people were nice. I wouldnt get food here though.
A quirky place with quirky food and drinks, decorated like an old library or study. Its all on the expensive side though.
Nice, saved money. Good service
Wasnt impressed and wont be back. Oh well. Im not everyones cup of tea either.
This place is amazing for a first date. Calm and relaxing with good food and amazing coffee.
Love spending time here after the work week and relaxing into the chill and warm vibes. Staff has always been kind and helpful. The punch is my favorite part of Archive! A $5 rotating punch that is always a surprise and always so, so good - Its perfect.
Coffee in the morning and drinks at night. Perfect! Great atmosphere and very friendly staff.
Top notch service, the damn of the dawn drink was great and so was the food.
Favorite spot for cocktails and a snack downtown! Love the Kittens Mittens
Fantastic and extensive whiskey and Scotch lists!
Best cup of coffee I’ve probably had was from Archive. Fun to get drinks here at night too!
Best atmosphere. If you go for a drink be prepared for tiny beverages. Delicious, but surprisingly small. If you go for coffee, you still not be disappointed. Imaginative flavors, great quality.
Looks beautiful but the services was ridiculously slow.
Excellent coffee. Period.
Great cappuccino, friendly, helpful staff, outside well-spaced seating with a heater make Archive a lovely place for a safe outing!
Very safe and conscious to current health risks.Absolutely perfect burgers, very flavorful espresso. At night it has a great drink selection too.Support a great local coffee shop and bar.
I wasnt sure what to expect when walking into this establishment, when my friend asked me to meet him here. I arrived first and was immediately impressed by the atmosphere of the place. Its hard to describe, but its a mixture of modern industrial warehouse with a mixture of browns and blacks mixed with bronze and steel. The warm Edison lighting had me standing in the entryway for a tick before the pleasant staff greeted me and took me out of my momentary trance. Needing a little pick-me-up before having a long conversation with my friend, I asked for a warm tea and was given an awesome set of choices. Picking a green tea from China, I was pleasantly surprised when they brought my tea out on a wooden tray, with my mug of tea and separate cup with my loose leaf tea leaves. This experience is legit. They explained to me that I could resteep those leaves as much as I would like. My friend arrived and we seated ourselves at a quiet booth and had an amazing time catching up, ordering a few delish gin cocktails, and eating some entrees that were more than enough to top off this amazing afternoon/early evening. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a hipster vibe or who want to just relax in a calm environment.
12$ for 3 tacos the size of silver dollar coins is kind of absurd.
Great atmosphere with lots of seating and one of the best mochas Ive ever had; made with real dark chocolate nibs instead of overly sweet syrups. Its perfect. Along with great coffee they have cocktails, wine and beer options as well. I cant speak to the food as I didnt eat here but the food that came out looked delicious. This is now a must-stop for me when in Salem.
Lovely environment, Staff were all super nice. It potentially can get a little noisy depending on how many people are in the cafe if you are trying to study. Lots of great drink options!
Busy, but very friendly staff!
This place is just mind boggling. Its very busy, but the staff are kind and knowledgeable, taking time with you and care with your order. I had a rosemary lemonade which had a tiny sparkle, and I could happily drown myself in it. Plenty of seating, plenty of family (if you know what I mean) and a great selection. Simply delicious.
Waow! My Cauliflower/Garbanzo Bean Tacos, and Herb Fries taste DEEEEEEEEEELICIOUS! They are the BEST that they have ever been! I like the rosemary on the fries!
Some of the best bartenders in town. They keep things new and fresh. Their menu rotates with the seasons, so always expect something new If you go early in the day for coffee, it almost feels like Starbucks with the darker atmosphere and everyone with their laptops out. If you want a clean quality bar with a cool vibe, this is your place.
Best coffee in town and the staff are very friendly and accommodating!
Great donuts, great service!
Archive is my favorite bar in Salem. The bartenders are so nice and friendly, the food is always great, and the drinks are excellent. Not to mention you can stop by earlier in the day for a cup of coffee or tea.
Archive has always been my all time favorite place in Salem. However, since the pandemic things have just not been the same, and I’m not talking about things that can’t be avoided. Taco Tuesday doesn’t draw me in anymore, the tacos are so scanty that it feels like I’m just eating a uncooked tortilla. Furthermore, service has been a bit inconsistent lately. Sometimes I’m greeted warmly as before and others I feel invisible.Update: 10/20/20 Taco TuesdayPho Beef TacosSome of the best tacos I’ve had from Archive since Covid. Filled well and delightful flavor, very juicy and tender meat matched with onions, fresh jalapeños and a cream sauce. Very happy.
Intensely flavorful, dietary requirement friendly, and all-round delicious dishes; with service to match. Definitely a must visit if youre looking for a place to eat in Salem.
The honeybush tea latte with cardamom was superb!
Good food, good coffee, good beer, and awesome bar tenders and baristas.
Love the aesthetics and the drinks! Had the Easy-Breezy iced coffee and it was amazing!! The whole vibe of this place is amazing, will definitely be returning!
Its a great place, but I am not a fan of the coffee. I got a mocha today and it tasted awfully ammoniated...
Hands gotten my favorite coffee shop in Salem. I love their fun coffee cocktails (they have alcoholic, but I love the fun non-alcoholic espresso and coffee options). Its the best place around to chill with a latte and do some work or meet friends.
My favorite coffee shop so far. Great service with a perfect vintage atmosphere. Price is good while quality of coffee is high for me. Please try the toast and home made jam. You will be surprised like I was.
Great theme love the hot cocoa and scones are amazing gluten free
Very good drinks. Great atmosphere. Minus one star for how long we had to wait... not greeted by anyone... took a long time to get a menu and even longer to order.
I only went here for coffee after lunch, and I was extremely impressed! The interior is beautiful and comfortable, and I ordered an iced Bees Knees which is a nutty tasting latte with lavender and honey. It comes with a sprig of rosemary for garnish, which not only is cute, but adds a second layer of flavor when you breathe through your nose while drinking.Ill have to come back to check out the cocktails later in the day sometime!
Fresh food with very comfy furniture. It definitely has its own style. I mean the interior design. Sometimes you have to suffer from the very loud music, NOT HERE! This place is quite and comfy. That is how the place should sound and taste to have a chance to enjoy the food.
Coffee was that sour, sitting too long taste. Had to use salt to make it palatable. Chicken tacos were flavorful but really greasy. Sweet potato chips were crisp and excellent.
This place is so unique and has such a cool atmosphere and vibe. Very relaxed and chill. Yummy foods and unique things to try! Ive only had the food but Im willing to bet the coffee and drinks are great too. Id definitely recommend give them a try. Nice and friendly staff too. A Salem classic.
Archive is a place for beautiful people to enjoy coffee roasted on the premises, craft mixed drinks, nibble on some creative food and soak up the atmosphere. The archive dinning area, coffee bar and bar are decorated with books and other items that suggest a library in a private manor but without the stuffy wood paneling. Instead exposed brick and industrial-influenced shelves create a clever contrast. I love their carefully chosen beers on tap along with a plate of olives and cheese. I feel sophisticated even when wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Their mixed drinks may suffer under the weight of their complexity which feels like they are trying too hard.
From the moment I cracked open the door to leaving I was made to feel welcome. I had a mac and the eggs benedict with a side of sweet potato chips and really enjoyed it.My server was excellent and attentive, so all in all how could I not give 5*?
