This store is fabulous! The store has a massive amount of papercraft items for such a small footprint. They stay on top of new releases and stocked up on all the regularly used items. I have been delighted by the staff every time I stop in. Their newest part of the team Damian is so helpful and knowledgeable. The owner is so friendly and helpful. It truly feels like your shopping with friends. If you have not made it to the new location out South Salem, please support small businesses and stop in.

Yes, this is a good place (kind of hidden away in a strip mall). Very good selection of papers, inks and other craft supplies. Even stock some fine art supplies. Easy to get to for those of us in South Salem.

This store has almost everything, especially a fabulous assortment of collage papers. I would highly recommend for art or craft supplies.

Sat next to shoppe owner on return flight from Arizona. Hit it off sharing about art..Seemed like the shortest flight ever. She gave me her business card, invited me to visit an art class. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. I was able to add a quality travel size paint set, brushes, pens and specialty pencils to my traveling kit. Cant wait for another Salem trip!

Runaway Art and Craft Studio has a little bit of everything you need for your crafty passions. I go to support local business, and I never leave disappointed. I found the tools and paints I needed for my acrylic painting hobbies within the first five minutes of entering the store. The staff are very nice and informative and take you right where you need to go. They also keep a log of your purchases for rewards if your a frequent customer. Definitely give this place a visit before you head to Michaels or other big house craft departments. Its fun, its local, its well-stocked, its humanely priced, and its a good atmosphere. Solid 5 stars.Edit: Just wanted to say I love the new location. WAAAAY better parking situation and our shelterless neighbors arent pooping on the sidewalk outside every morning. Its also next to Big 5 and Perfect Look, my other favorite stores.

This store is a treasure. Christy and her staff always remember my name, the projects I’m working on, and have the best personalized recommendations. To say they’re knowledgeable is an understatement—they are passionate about art supplies! I can’t even count how many times I’ve asked a question about a product and the answer is accompanied with “come try it, we have one in the back!” I always come away with products I love and creative ideas to put them to use. I try to redirect anyone heading to a chain craft store. Come here instead and support this wonderful establishment! You will be happy you did.

This is such a gem!!! My daughter and I were lucky enough to find this great store during a trip to Salem. They have the best in classic stamps and tools to the newest and best mixed media treasures. The assortment of handmade papers and stencils. The papers and charm bar made my day. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable. I would suggest this wonderful locally owned store!

This place is beyond amazing. I wish I could go in more honestly. This is one of the first places I send people. The service is great, the store is amazing, and the owner is just a wonderful woman. I love going in just to get ideas sometimes. Ive picked up more than a couple hobbies from this store and its only strengthened my portfolio.

Nice place with reasonable prices. They have a crafting time in the evenings that I would definitely like to check out. Only 4 stars because the staff was a little overbearing, but it was a slow time when I went.

The staff here are super nice. When I went in for help finding items for a gift project for the new year, the lady at the front desk was quick to help me search for what I need and even recommended a very nice glue which has help up on the projects for over six months now! They also sell copic markers for a decent price (which is a big thing for me considering that is my main medium) and their selection is huge and customer accessible not behind the counter. I have not personally taken any of the classes, but my aunt goes to several of them and loves them dearly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that loves scrapbooking or crafting.

Best craft store in Salem in my opinion! The prices are great, they have tons of ideas/inspiration on display to get the creative juices flowing. Plus, the owner and her employees are SO helpful and eager to find the right thing for their customers. I also love their classes and run away to play nights! Huge asset to downtown!

Favorite salem art store. Affordable, amazing staff, very good enviornment! They have amazing sketchbooks, a selection of art supplies, and very friendly people working there who really do love art and their jobs. I go at least twice a month. If you want copics, colored pencils, or adorable scrapbooking and crafting supplies I recommend runaway!

Although one of the ladies was sweet and helpful, the owner seemed to think that at art shops nothing should be touched [she actually said “look with your eyes and not your hands” to my little ones]. My children are well behaved and kind but she didn’t like how my son held paper or I how my daughter barely touched the skin in my arm with a paint brush. She seemed to eagle-eye us the whole time, it made me uncomfortable. She was clearly irritated that we were in there and that my two school-aged children wanted to respectfully touch. I do believe others have had a lovely experience there—especially if they were adults or older children. However, in our fast and often unwelcoming society, young children must be given mutual respect and allowed to POLITELY explore their world with as many of their senses as possible. Perhaps a “No children under the age of 10” sign on the door would alert customers of the vibe of the shop before potential customers enter. I wish I hadn’t made a purchase at such a nit-picky shop. It was my/our first time in and I won’t be going back.

Love this store...it just has a creative vibe to it. Has great mixed media bits and pieces you just dont find anywhere else. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

I shopped here for my wifes birthday and mothers day, the Mrs. is a bigtime crafter. The staff was patient with me and all my questions, helpful, friendly, and still knows the value of customer service. They seem to have a little bit of everything. I took off 1 star for the neighborhood location. On the day my daughter and I went shopping there a homeless guy was throwing pizza at the imaginary people he was talking to. Several others also crowded the street and made my daughter feel unsafe. Not really this stores fault, more to do with city policy.

Friendly and helpful staff. My wifes favorite place to shop for multi media craft supplies (I do welding and metalwork, not thier stock in trade but I know good customer service when I see it). They regularly hold classes with guest instructors for various craft techniques and types of crafts from paper crafts to scrap booking and even jewelery making. Not a huge chain store, but you are more likely to find that little something or other you are looking for here.

Best family ran arts and craft store around! Prices are great and the staff is even better! I wish I lived closer again though, so I can go more often!

Runaway Art & Craft Studio is a fantastic destination for those who enjoy making cards, scrap-booking, multimedia projects, altered books and many other art related hobbies. Christy and her staff are friendly, knowledgeable, willing to take time to explain new product. The hours meet the need of those needing time after work to shop and they are open on week-ends!

This is an awesome store, Christy, Emily and Jessica are so helpful and nice. The store is stocked full of mixed media, scrapbook, card making, and stamping supplies. The guest artists that come to teach are the best.

Lots of great products and the classes are a lot of fun. Its a nice place to go when you need supplies for a craft project.

This is the best store in the state. Quality products that one is unable to fine in other stores. Michaels, JoAnns and craft warehouse can not compare to Runaway Art & Craft. Oh, did I mention the classes? You would have to travel to Seattle or California to find classes such as these.

Runaway Art is a really fantastic art and craft supply destination! The shop contains a huge variety of tools and supplies, there are a variety of classes offered, and if you need specific instruction on a technique or tool, Christy and her staff are willing to spend some time to explain or demonstrate it for you. There are many inspiring samples featuring many styles scattered throughout the spacious store, which can be very helpful. Classes are a very good value as the instruction is top-notch and doesnt break the bank. The classroom has plenty of room and lovely natural light, so if you are taking a class, this space is very functional and comfortable. There is so much for a cardmaker, scrapbooker, art journaler, mixed media artist, or fine artist! Obviously, Im a huge fan!

There is no other store like Runaway in the Salem-Keizer area. No, its not Michaels or Jo-Ann but its so much better! Christy is knowledgeable about all the products in her store and Ive seen her demonstrate techniques and products to curious customers. The classes are amazing and she has had several well-known artists come from as far as England to teach. Whether youre into scrapbooking, stamping, altered art, art journaling, paper art, and more, this is a great place to shop.

I LOVE this store! I try to get there whenever I come into town (Im from Idaho). They have a variety of crafting and scrapbooking items and seems like everytime I go, there is something new. If you are an art booker or journaler, this place is a must. They have everything you need! They also have a variety of stamps, diecuts and stencils. Parking is free, so no excuse not to stop in and take a look.
