Went there to get paints for my DIY patio project. I asked a sales associate (?), named Robbin, if she could help me find the best paint for my project. She went out of her way to help me find paints. She also gave me some valuable suggestions to ensure I do it right. And the cashier was very friendly too. Overall I felt like they treat their customers very well. I will certainly be going there for my hardware needs in the future.

These folks continuously provide proactive and friendly service. And the prices are very good. You cant beat that for value.

I shop here often and the staff is ALWAYS courteous and helpful, but today Vincent took customer service to a new level. I was in the paint section looking for a small can of a a particular blue and red. Couldnt find what I wanted. Vincent noticed me and asked if he could help. We looked at various swatches, without luck. then he suggested we find a dolor close to what I was looking for and then he would customize it. I said ok, found a couple that were close, told him what I was looking for. He then did his magic with his mixing equipment and walla gave me exactly what i was looking for. It took a bit of time, because of the calculations involved, but he was helpful, professional, and courteous the entire time. I would give him 6 stars if I could. The cans of paint he sold me were the smallest possible, but he treated me like I was buying several gallons. Well Done.

I went over to Ace Hardware get a what I thought was a wood Whiskey Barrel Panter that was on sale was actually made out of resin. I bought one anyway, theyre not too bad looking. Im going to fill it with plants and put it on my back patio Its a nice place to go for Hardware. I highly recommend this place

An old Australian? woman accused me of growing cannabis when I asked for ph down…yeah organic should maintain its own ph but sometimes the ph of compost can be a bit high. Waaay overpriced. Donno why I bother looking here first. I spent 600 one week at Home Depot, would have spent 200 more at ace. Also the old folks that work there seem to follow me around like I’m gonna steal something…because I wear sandals? My step dad’s probably your orthopedic surgeon or one of your friends…I’ve an education. Bite me.

I LOVE being greeted by the staff the minute I enter ACE in Northwest Salem, Or. There are staff members constantly working yet take the second to ask if I, along w all store customers, need any assistance. Went in for Tri-flow which no one in Salem had. I called here and the guy that answered the phone knew exactly what I was talking about. Every other place I went to or called had no idea what Tri-flow was. Ill pay for knowledgeable and helpful employees Every time.

Every time I go into an Ace Hardware I find an employee that is more than willing to assist me in finding the exact item Im looking for. Compared to other facilities they have more employees wanting to assist you which is a wonderful thing in todays world.

Their service to businesses is excellent. If your business buys items that ACE has, you should set up an account and get going. Robin does an awesome job of customer service. Bulk pricing and regular fulfillment are no problem.

There prices are very high and their service is not that good. It would serve you well to travel up to 10 miles and save yourself money and get better service. If you have an electric car you can travel 50 miles.

I think they need to change the jingle in their commercial!Dont know when they went from a friendly, helpful group at a convenient location in West Salem to a crew like that of a larger home improvement store, where you have to chase someone down to get help. I was recently in three times in one weekend while trying to get parts for a shower faucet during a bathroom remodel. They was anything but helpful hardware folkThe first two times I was given misinformation by three different workers (the first one called two others over to help on my second trip), and the third time while searching for the correct parts myself, another employee walked past me FIVE times without offering any assistance. He finally asked if I had what I needed when I passed him in the aisle, and followed it with we close in 5 minutes.I ended up getting what I needed at Lowes, so maybe its worth the drive in the future .The only helpful person has always been the young guy that works as cashier. Always friendly, but they keep him up front at the register. Ill miss him.

7am is late enough to start for the south Salem location but I dont understand how this location gets off opening at 8 am, thats too late.

If it were possible to rate this lower I would do so. I’ve had occasion to shop at this location of Ace Hardware three times. When I would think that if wasn’t possible for the service to get any worse they somehow find a way. I’m not going to explain in detail each of the three visits I’ve had there. Suffice it say that providing even the most basic customer service—like answering the telephone—goes beyond what they are either willing to do or capable of doing. In the middle of a pandemic they offer curbside pick up for purchases ordered online. We made a purchase. The email receipt said to come to the location, call the number provided, give them the name on purchase, and then a “red-vested hero” would bring it to the car. We decided to use Ace because we could avoid going in the store. For several reasons it was important on this particular day that nobody would have to go inside to pick up our purchase. It’s not a matter of laziness. We chose this store because of this service because we needed that service today. After parking I called the number 14 times. I listened to the message, let the phone ring through, it rang multiple times and then would be answered and immediately hung up on. My wife tried calling from home. Same issue. Amazingly, after I went in to get the purchase and complained about their service my wife tried calling again. Amazingly they answered after the service was no longer needed. I will never shop there again. While I don’t spend thousands and thousands of dollars at hardware stores and my business probably won’t be missed on a financial level, the money we do spend when renovating our house and redoing the yard at both my home and my mother’s home will be spent at another store. Even if that means driving an extra 20 minutes go get things. I’m done with this place and will be telling everyone I know about the exact details of what happened.

Some of the staff here needs customer service training. Used to be great, happy employees. I loved shopping here. Last time I shopped here, I grabbed an item near the door without a upc tag. After listening to coworkers berate how checker was incorrectly using headset for a while, I just went and got another with the price tag myself. 3 employees standing there and I have to take care of it. Yikes.Today, I got a snappy, snarky response from one store employee when looking for an item, whats out on the shelf is what we have as if I should have known the entire layout of the store, and the cashier I had today seemed less than enthused to be having to do anything.A favorite shopping place being ruined by either bad training, hiring or bad management making unhappy employees.

This truly is the place with the helpful hardware man (and women). Theres always someone ready to help you find what youre looking for and answer questions. I’ve been replacing our electrical outlets and switches to better match our new paint colors. I’m no electrician so a couple of times I got confused about the wiring. Once while in the store and twice on the phone Nick talked me through it. I had thought about calling a licensed electrician but thanks to Nick I ended up doing it myself and saving a lot of money. You would never get that kind of service at the big box stores.

Not the happiest sales representative at ACEI called to make sure a leaf blower was in stock as it was on sale. The gentleman on the phone was pleasant and said he had them available. When I arrived at the ACE Hardware in West Salem, Oregon I spoke to a member of management who passed me on to a female employee. She seemed indifferent and not very friendly. I followed her to an endcap where the blower I was interested was displayed and while she pulled it down (the BR-350) she dropped it from the shelf about four feet high on to the concrete floor. She never apologized or made an effort to look the unit over. I got down on my knees and noticed the front and bottom plastic base was scuffed and roughed up from the drop and asked if she another one in the back as this was going to be a gift. Without looking she said no and asked if I wanted the one on the ground. I explained to her that it was a birthday gift to a picky person and would prefer a new none damaged model but if this was all they had I would take it. She seemed like she could care less one way or the other. She started the unit for me to see and did the warranty registration in the store. I purchased the BR-350 with the Stihl fuel and took it home. I have received good service in the past from this ACE Hardware but this visit was a disappoint, especially for such a large purchase. Ace Hardware in West Salem wont be my first choice in the future.

Its hard to go in this place without immediately being offered assistance or direction to what youre looking for. Cashiers are always excessively friendly and helpful. Place is always clean inside and out and everything always seems to be stocked and organized and labeled well. Hardware selection is extensive but sometimes the drawers are empty.

I have always had excellent customer service from this Ace place until last week. I ordered a five drawer tool chest with assembly. It was delivered last week, I loaded it with tools the way I was anticipating, started to wheel it into my study when one of the wheels came off and tipped the chest over.Had to take all the tools, etc. out, tipped it over to see the wheel assemblies.To my astonishment, the bolts in the wheel assembly were all loose, some bolt just stuck in without nuts which fell out when I tipped it over. Needless to say, there were not enough nuts to secure the bolts. I found some matching nuts in my supply of nuts and got all four of the wheel assemblies secured with at least three bolts/nuts but not enough for the fourth hole. Looks like this store needs to find some new assembly personnel. Normally this would be a five star rating but today its only a three.

If you’re the kind of person who wants to be in and out of a store quickly, this is the place for you. Good And helpful customer service every time I go. Best ace hardware I’ve been to hands down and I sure you will have the same experience.

I have been shopping at ace for years, always has been a positive experience til now. I was told when I walked in to put on a mask or leave. I informed them I had a health problem so I cant wear one. They said they didnt care. The governors request says if you have health issues you dont need to wear one. When local businesses decide to take this whole mess further and act like that they wont get my business. The parking lot was pretty empty. They might want to rethink their decision to deny entry. I would rather support my local businesses but its Home Depoe for me from now on.

Smaller location but well layed out. Has all the necessities. The staff was polite and helpful. Convenient location on the west side of the river (when you live on that side) as all the other hardware stores on the other side.

How customers should be treated and greeted

This store is one of my favorite places to shop for home and garden items and gifts. However, we needed a few things earlier this week and when we arrived at the store, masked and gloved, we discovered there were no social distancing standards in place, it was very busy, very few staff were wearing masks and they were not keeping anywhere close to 6 feet of space between us. At the counter, clerks were not masked, they did not sanitize the counters between guests, and we left feeling like we had taken a big risk by going there. We wont be going there again any time soon. Maybe next year. Too bad they dont get it.

This is more than a hardware store. I’m totally convinced that this exceptional team of human beings actually cares about the success of my projects!I love coming here. They’re MY team. I know that if I have a question or a challenge, I can take it to Ace, and they’ll give me the time and knowledge I need to walk out with the right supplies and a plan.Ace West is proof that service is not dead and caring for people is good for business.

No longer the helpful hardware store. I just had a very uncomfortable experience at West Salem Ace. I am so disheartened by it. I was looking for a few things and then a clerk walked me to the door saying I had to put a mask on. I cannot wear a mask due to a health concern. The clerk did not inquire as to why I couldnt nor did he keep his distance from me- he claimed I was contagious. (?? distance is what keeps the spread down!!)Shows me that he listens to incorrect info about Covid, etc. I wil not be returning to this store. And this is why online business is thriving.

Staff generally helpful and friendly, although it is still about 50/50 if they ask you first if you need help. I dont recall the last time I needed technical advice, so I cant speak to that.(If youre reading this, Ace, you cant beat the big boxes for price or selection, so you HAVE to beat them with customer service. Look at Roths if you need an example.)A final note, I am VERY impressed that the manager took the time to write a reply. This Ace Hardware has the best customer service that I have ever had at any store. The staff is very knowledgeable on the products and very helpful in explaining a product use and recommending other items if needed. They have staff at the front desk who are always smiling and helpful during the checkout. The office staff is also very helpful in finding products, finding discounts and very good at answering any billing questions. I would tell anyone to shop at Ace Hardware in West Salem.

Robert was very helpful when I came in! I planned to slip in and slip out figuring out my small car problem myself but when asked where to locate something he was very helpful and wanted to help me completely until it was done. I didn’t lift a finger but pay for the items which was nice since I had a cold that day. In the meantime other staff members were waiting for him to finish helping me to help other people! It’s clear he enjoys his job and does good at it. Ace in general has always been friendly and helpful when I go in there!

Old style customer service is what you get here. They are ready to help and many times ask you what they can do before you have time to ask. Great service!! I have had them order items in and they call when it arrives, WOW, almost no one calls today.

They usually have everything you need. Just cant trust every employee to actually know what they are talking about. I did some plumbing around my house. Was sent home a few times with what I was told would be the fix. Returned parts several times in 1 day.
