Purchased a generator here and before I purchased I was on the phone with my wife and my father was there and I asked the sales associates (3 of them were right there) if I buy it if it is not big enough for what I needed could I return it. All 3 said yes. I asked are your sure and would there be a restocking fee they said no if it don’t work out just come back with the receipt. So I came back today to return it and I was told I couldn’t return it once it had gas. I understand that but I was never told that. I told the manager 3 of his associates told me I could if it didn’t work out and my dad was right there and my wife on the phone who told me to ask. He still basically called me a liar. I spend a lot of money here like the generator was $899 and I added their insurance for another $149. It’s ok I filed a dispute with my bank so I’ll be getting my money returned anyway. thanks for your sorry service and employees who knows nothing.

I love going into Northern. I feel like a kid in a candy store. There are so many neat to have tool items, I want one of each. I saw a lot of associates in the store, but they all seemed to have other priorities than helping a lost customer. I finally found what I was looking for. At the checkout was the nicest lady. I am sorry I didnt catch her name, she was a little bit older than most of the other associates. She was fun to talk to and very helpful. I am so used to an extremely crowded facility, this place seemed empty. Thanks for being there when I needed something.

I got a 4500Wpeak/3500Wnominal Powerhouse inverter generator here when our power went out. Customer service was excellent, very helpful and well informed.

Checkout slow, but phone ahead advice was good. Stocking status was clarified.

Always a friendly atmosphere, clean store and all the help you need or not. Prices are competitive ( you get what you pay for) and reasonably, they also do price match. Great place to shop.

Got the answers I needed, Friendly knowledgeable parts counter.

When you place an order the date appears when the item will be delivered. The date changes when you complete the order. That is disingenuous on ythe companys part. I would have canceled the order if I knew the delivery date was going to.change.

Overall great service whenever I shop here. I rarely buy enough to use their plastic bags, but for a tool store its surprising how cheap/thin their bags are.

Several of my online orders have been placed and then lost in the system. I have called and emailed customer care with no luck. The Salem store manager honored the sale prices when I had a chance to visit the store even though the sales had expired, no questions asked. Terrible service online but great service in the Salem store.

Mostly positive, clean, generally well stocked, and sales people available to help. I live 35 miles from store and drove there to purchase lights that were on sale via sales brochure.... they were not available when I got there which made me quite angry.

Staff is knowledgable and have been willing to help when asked. Store has been clean and well stocked of the items I have needed.

Employees at the Salem store are a 5 star but the insurance they sale is not worth the paper it’s written on. I had a hot water unit that flipped and came off the ball. They said it was approved when they thought it was minor damage and when they found out it was major damage they denied the claim. They said it was involved in a accident, I didn’t secure it correctly and then said they don’t insure when it is in transit. Three different excuses and I’m still out of a $8,000 machine. DO NOT PURCHASE THE INSURANCE you’re waisting your money and time. Last time I ever get the insurance from them.

Never buy a warranty ! Waste of money zero customer service ! Spent 6 grand on 2 generators both of them broke both warranties paid for and they have been nothing but rude and finding ways to place blame on the customer .. I will drive an extra hour out of the way to not deal with these people again and we used to spend a lot of money with northern .. not sure if it’s just In Roanoke va but never again will I shop there

Found some useful odds and ends here. They carry a wide variety of tools and miscellaneous items; just like the name implies: Northern Tool & Equipment. Trailers, chain saws, weed trimmers, tractor parts and equipment, work clothes, gloves, rain gear, and so many other things.I had Jerry help me find several things I was looking for. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. They had everything I was looking for on that trip to Northern and the prices were reasonable. Ill continue to shop there.

I called several times to Northern Tool over a 2 day period and nobody ever answered the phone. That takes off at least 3 stars. When I arrived my experience was smooth and the employee, I believe Travis, was helpful. But they need to get on answering the phone. I had questions I needed to ask and it made me irritated.

Does anyone answer the phone number listed? 540- 986-0264? You guys never answer your phone. I have called 4 times in the past 2 days. Trying to ask about some equipment but dont want to waste a trip... Need to answer the phone. Northern Tool + Equipment seems to have poor customer service.

Its a Northern Tool + Equipment...... They do have an extremely friendly and helpful staff willing to go out of thier way to help you, if you have questions.

Customer service sucks. Just went there in trailer deptartment and flagged down an employee and I needed a pigtail for an oval trailer light. All I got in a Huff is everything I have is right there and he walked away.
