Words can’t describe how amazing and welcoming this place is. They also are very Covid safe and clean! Katy was extremely helpful and very educated on everything. This shop is at the top of my list for the best place to buy quality and genuine products/supplies in all of Salem. If you are new to the spiritual world, or a veteran, they have something for everyone. I come every year from Philly just to stock up and get the best supplies.
Had a great experience shopping at the Cauldron Black. They have unique products and really beautiful jewelry! The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the products they carry. I really appreciated the safety precautions taken to reduce the spread of COVID as I am high-risk. Definitely the best occult shop in Salem! Do yourself a favor, and don’t miss it!!
My partner and I visit Salem every year to get our pagan shopping list checked off and enjoy the rich atmosphere, and we’ve tried to shop here two years in a row to no avail. The first year (2020) the shop had regulations that were extreme, even for the pandemic. We couldn’t touch anything whatsoever, we had to disinfect ourselves with sprays and sanitizer and there could only be one person in the store at a time so my partner and I couldn’t even shop together. This past year (2021) we wanted to give them another chance. They wouldn’t let us shop for an entire hour and a half because someone “booked a private shopping spree”. I’m not even sure what this means but we left and never came back. It’s really ridiculous to push people out of your shop (that actually had nice things the first time) for someone’s private shopping trip for over an hour? Guess you won’t be getting my money. I wouldn’t recommend this shop whatsoever because of how strict and unfriendly the staff is. I can think of 10 other stores in Salem that do a million times better with better items.
Waited in line for over 50 minutes only to get into the store and be told we had a minute to grab what we wanted and check out because a party of 5 paid $5 to get in ahead of us after we finally got to the front. I was willing to spend over $100 in this shop only to put down all of my items and leave because of how rude the woman was. My friend and I were appalled that we had been rushed after we waited so long to get into the store and as a small business owner myself this was incredibly inconsiderate, their mask rule is also overly enforced to the point where the couple in front of us stood in line for way over an hour and were told he couldn’t go in because he had a bandana mask and the fact that no one had told them beforehand or didn’t have a marked sign about what masks are acceptable could’ve saved them time. Honestly don’t shop here, there are other stores with the same items and more friendly workers.
Good luck getting in without paying $5 to shop privately for half an hour. The regular line barely moves and they encourage you pay the $5 to cut the line while youre in it with other people. Feels like putting a fast pass lane in for a store, kind of gross.
Staff was very rude. Was on a amazing trip in salem and wanted to go in this shop on my last day thankfully the one day after you had to make an appointment to shop in there. No shop should make you call and make an appointment if you want to come in. if Im shopping I want to shop and look in all stores. Huge turn off already. There were two people and staff if this store and i had to wait outside to go in. I understand covid and a maximum occupancy but two people? and the staff were yelling at us to get back outside because we were peaking our head in? Despicable. Good for you because you just lost a costumer. yelled at us for our mask being under our nose outside we weren’t even in the store. Im super upset. Ut looked like a great shop sadly I didn’t get to see because of the horrible staff. The girl with red hair is horrible at her job and should be fired. Everyone in the reviews has also noticed how she is very rude. please learn manners before getting a job.
I would not recommend coming to this shop. The lady with the red hair was rude the moment we ( husband and I ) walked up. It should be noted that we walked up to the shop with our mask on properly since we read the guidelines before coming to Salem. We also understand the need to reinforce rules and guidelines for small local shops in tourist area ( we live in Vegas). I do have an issue when she opened the barrier and proceeds to removed her mask to explain the guidelines of proper mask wearing. ( Little hypocritical) Now if she had told us politely I would not be giving the shop a 1 star. No she was very loud and condensing about it.
Very unique shop, staff is very friendly and has a lot of knowledge to share. Being from out of state, I really appreciated that they endorsed social distancing and only allowed a small number of shoppers in at a time; it really allowed for a unique and private shopping experience.
Horrible We were in there 5 min just for them to kick us out bc my cousin was adjusting her mask. Women who worked there with the red hair was super nasty and yelled at her. Plus its 5 dollar scam to reserve
I LOVE The Cauldron Black in Salem, MA. So many unique items from local artists and beyond. Many one of a kind pieces made with love by the artists. My latest adventure into the Cauldron Black was incredible. Great energy. I purchased a gorgeous clear quartz crystal ring and pendant to help with amplifying positive energy: 💜.
Waited in line to shop for 30 minutes, we had the required masks, according to the sign. My husband had a bandana and it was listed as approved. Once we got to the entrance the lady told us his mask was not an appropriate mask, after she came outside and saw the line and never said a word. We wasted our time waiting inline and planned to spend quite a bit of money on black craft cult items. Someone offered us a mask that was standing in line but we refuse to spend our money at a place that does this to people. HER mask was a homemade mask. Out bandana was bought at a store. What a joke. We will spend our money elsewhere.
Definitely my favourite place to get stuff in Salem! I went yesterday and the shopkeeper was so kind and knew her stuff. We also bonded over our shared love of eucalyptus and the store sells these lovely bundles of dried eucalyptus which I 100% regret not getting. This is definitely the most reasonably priced shop that I have found in Salem, cant wait to go back!
Dont waste your time, rude at the front door with no notification of making an appointment before you visit a store (not dinner, not an event, a little boutique store.), must show proof of vaxx although asking for it is a violation of hipaa. When you call to make an appt no one answers.Good luck
Store clerk is on a weird power trip. From the moment we arrived she was manically barking rules and orders in a way that made our group feel uncomfortable. We absolutely respect social distancing and masking rules, but it felt like she was using covid to boss guests around excessively. For example, she limited the number of guests inside (which is fine and understandable!) and she asked that we don’t open the door for any guest who comes knocking, and that she would open the door herself. However, when people came to knock at the door, and we were standing right by the door at the time, she would stop what she’s doing and look at US! Seeming to only be interested in whether we were following her door rule! It would have been funny if it wasn’t so awkward to have to look the poor folks at the door in the face, unable to help them. She was also watching my husband like a hawk to make sure the mask didn’t slip down his nose at any point, and whenever it slipped the slightest bit, there was an immediate shrill “PULL YOUR MASK UP PLEASE!” without missing a single moment. He left with hurt feelings, to say the least. We believe in doing our part to stop the spread of covid, and we respect and abide by all covid guidelines. This wasn’t the issue. The issue was this woman’s energy and attitude. It was horrid.Honestly, the store is cute, but they don’t have anything you won’t find at all the other stores of this type in Salem. In my opinion, it’s not worth being in that negative energy and environment (and particularly for metaphysical products, I personally prefer to shop with good vibes around me, as things like crystals will pick up surrounding energy)
Let me.be super clear. If you want a metaphysical supply shop that genuinely and meaningfully cares about not just the staff but every single customer who passes through the doors, youve found it.Between comprehensive classes that draw from varied traditions, dedicated workers in their respective crafts, a full stock, and ethical sourcing, youd be hard pressed to find another spot that walks the walk in terms of their ethical and professional values like they do.In a global pandemic, you get a lot of places that endanger their staff and customers with lax or nonexistent regulation. Cauldron Black has ample health regulation signage, a straight forward health forward policy and as a customer who cares genuinely not just about my metaphysical needs but the safety of the communities I interact with, this kind of conscientious policy is not optional to me.Cauldron Black doesnt meet the mark, it surpasses it. Keep up the good work!
Great place, friendly and knowledgable staff would def return :)
This isnt a negative review, this is me sharing my experience in The Cauldron Black. I visited this store with my friend who happens to be a psychic medium. I am a psychic empath. We popped in around Oct 28th 2019. I want to say that as soon as you cross the threshold of the door, there is a MASSIVE energy shift. And its dark and negative. The air is spiritually so thick, I could cut it with sizzors, if I had a pair. We peeked around briefly, walking separately. She walked out and at the same time I was spiritualky urged to leave. She and I looked at one another instinctively and both said, Wow...bad / dark energy! Just an observation. Im curious to see if any other psychics or sensitive felt it too. To each their own, but wanted to point that out.
I am promask and I know Salem and Boston are requiring masks but tell me how I am supposed to mask my 1 year old? Then Upon me saying he is too little to stay masked let alone keep on on you denied entry for him because he was the 5th person is a pretty poor reasoning. Denying entry while the entire party was masked except him is really poor business. Every other business I visited in Salem today had no issue with him. Will not be returning here nor will I recommend this business.
Waited outside the locked door for 10min to get in. Isn’t it fire code that doors to businesses must remain unlocked during business hours? The lady finally comes out and tells me to wear my mask inside the shop (which is fine) but then she said no one is allowed to touch anything and if I want something she must be the one to pick it up or you will be kicked out! Why even have your store open if you are this worried about covid? I just walked away. That’s just insane.
I enjoyed the stores products in person despite the no-touch policy, so I later placed a large online order. I never received my order or any shipment confirmation, so I began to email and call the store, but nothing was ever done. I was most recently told there is a no refund policy. Although the person I spoke with was friendly, it has now been two months and numerous attempts and I still have no resolution. Be careful if you order online.
Beautiful store and graciously managed. Countless stunning jewelry, candles, books, bags and so much more. The owner, Jacqui, is knowledgeable and welcoming. A very pleasant shopping experience.
Overpriced garbage. Owner clearly takes advantage of young witches and tries to make a buck off them. Very sad and I’m very tired of seeing this in our community.
I love this shop! Wonderful and knowledgeable staff. They have organized a lot of awesome online classes during the pandemic. Plus they go above and beyond to make the in-store experience safe for everyone. Thank you for all of your hard work and efforts, we appreciate you!
Went in and purchased a crystal pendent and black nylon chain to use for the necklace. Roughly an hour later I went back because the chain did not fit the pendent. The worker told us that even though she was the one who suggested the chain for the pendent that there was nothing she could do because all sales were final. I understand all sales are final but to sell these two pieces to make a set and then not be willing to help us at all and slam the door in my face was not okay with me. Will not be returning.
The chick had a very bad energy. Noped right outta there and onto lighter energies
The lady who runs this store is a complete germaphobe. We are not in the middle of the pandemic anymore. It has been proven that covid does not hang out on physical items, groceries, books, etc. You literally cannot even go in the store. The lady comes out, you go in, and she locks the door behind you. If you try to go out, the lady jumps up and will not allow you to touch the door. There is a no touch policy, so you cannot look thru books, the clothing, stones, crystals, or touch anything or they throw you out.(they tell you this upon entering lol) Not sure how they handled the flu or common cold???Perhaps this works with the average tourist, but for those of us familiar with a store like this, we like to feel the stones, crystals and other items before we buy them. This was our first time in Salem, and this shop is basic by far. Every single witch/occult/craft style shop is allowing customers to touch items, look through books, hold things, and most are not socially distancing. There are some shops still being mindful of maximum number capacity and enforcing masks which is not required anymore but is understandable. After visiting all the other shops in Salem and then visiting The Cauldron Black, I’m not sure how this place will even stay in business. The lady also seems quite rigid, paranoid, and nonsensical. . She was also on her phone the entire time. The store carries nothing to set it apart from other stores, go elsewhere.
This shop is great! the staff is super nice and helpful. They are also great with social distancing guidelines! Salem can be so busy in October and they handle it great! I also got a card reading which was so accurate. I highly recommend visiting.
IMO the best occult shop in Salem! I appreciate not only the selection of merchandise, but also the staff’s breadth of knowledge, and welcoming attitude. They also have an impressive variety of online classes available. Definitely recommend!
I give The Cauldron Black 5 Stars not only because it’s my sister’s store but because it’s an absolute amazing shop....she has worked very hard to be able to make her dream come true of owning her own shop in Salem. Anyone going to Salem should check it out...you won’t be disappointed!!!!!!! Everyone there is very knowledgeable & makes you feel welcome as soon as you enter the store.
Very unfriendly. Ive lived in salem my whole life and visit the shops often and I will not be returning to this shop again.
Love this place. Very wide range of quality occult items. 💕
This weekend I went to Cauldron Black to purchase a gift for a friend. The staff was friendly, informative, and helped me with any questions I had. They followed Covid-safety protocol which improved the experience, and I was able to purchase a fantastic gift. Thank you! 💜💜 If you are visiting Salem, I highly recommend stopping in and seeing all there is to offer!
Spent 61.00 dollars on a necklace, turned my neck green with in 30 minutes. Not as in awe of this place as others.
The Cauldron Black is my favorite stop to make in Salem. Not only is the staff knowledgeable and friendly but they are polite and happy to answer any and all questions you have . Their pandemic policies are in place to insure the safety of the customers and staff and to keep the store a clean, safe environment. I applaud all of their efforts and cleanliness and can’t say enough about the welcoming nature of the entire shopping experience. Can’t wait to go back .
The best spot for real craft.
They have a strict no touch policy which to each their own but literally when a person in my group accidentally touched something she literally forgot the lady freaked out and told her she needed to leave and now that product needs to be quarentined as if my friend ment it. Like is this real life. I will never go back to this store.
So glad the shop is now open in addition to the online store! I appreciate their no nonsense attitude and strict adherence to Covid protocols, especially as Salem is flooded with tourist in Oct. The staff is always great about answering my questions, and the shop itself has a curated selection of wares. It is def worth stopping by on your way to checking out the lighthouse or grabbing some coffee.
I visited Cauldron Black last year while visiting Salem. What a cool place! The staff was friendly and helpful. Even the location is cool.
Fantastic shop - great selection of books, statues, jewelry, and other items that span a variety of traditions and practices. Staff is very knowledgeable and great folks to talk to. Theres been several shops in this location over the last 3 decades and this is by far my favorite incarnation in style, presentation, vibes, and selection. Definitely one of the places youll want to hit on the Wharf when in town.
Worst shop in Salem. Even after the state has lifted guidelines they refuse to let people in and have no signage to say that. Rudest person I’ve ever had the unfortunate to meet.
This is the best store in Salem
The staff here could not be a kinder, or more knowledgeable group of people. the store itself is clean and has an exceptional variety of books, ritual tools, jewelry, clothes, statuary, incense, candles and more! A definite must when in Salem Ma!!!
This is a great shop. If they dont have it they can find it. They also know what magic should be used for... and on whose behal.
I have not only shopped at The Cauldron Black, I have taken many classes through there, both online and in person. It is a fantastic store and resource with knowledgeable and caring staff. I can not recommend this place enough.
Yes it’s the pandemic we all know it and most respect the guidelines set up by our local government officials. This store requires a limited amount of people inside and required mask wearing. Fantastic! Respected and rule followed! However, they have a beyond strict no touching objects in the store policy. If you want to look at something you have to ask an employee to show it to you. So get this, if you want to look at a book they hold the book for you and flip through the pages for you. When the worker took down the book from the shelf I touched the cover of the book thinking she was going to pass it to me so I can read through the book before I purchased it. Once I touched it, the worker said in a disgusted voice, “don’t touch that and don’t touch me” funny that I only touched the cover with one finger and accidentally bumped my elbow into her. It was extremely awkward. To try to make things better I asked to see the blurb of the book and the worker did not know where the blurb of a book is located. I felt very uncomfortable because this no touch items policy does not allow for social distancing...makes you be right on top of the worker which creates pressure and I don’t want to be breathing one foot away from a person during a pandemic....mask or no mask.I was so uncomfortable I left immediately and they lost a sale. If you don’t want customers to touch your books or any other items then you need to sell your items online. When Majika was in this exact same location, Lori Bruno and her staff would never treat their customers this way ever! What a way to ruin the energy of that building. The worst experience during my 8th trip to Salem.
I shopped online, they have good stuff at reasonable prices...very nice shop.
The Cauldron Black is a professional shop, the owners make sure guidelines to keep everyone safe are followed, they have a good team who are willing to go above and beyond, specially during this pandemic going on, safe and professional.
One of the best occult stores I know of. The staff has always been excellent. Ive seen a lot of people criticizing them during Covid because they enforce store rules (e.g. facemasks, distancing, no touching), but its one of the reasons I trust them.
One of the, if not the best shops in Salem for magical, spiritual, and witchcraft related materials, books, classes, and readings. A wonderful place run by truly wonderful people. I cant recommend it enough!
The cauldron black is an amazing place and those who work there are always very helpful and provide amazing information on their products!
I was somewhat nervous to shop due to the global situation. However shouldnt have been worried! The shop keeper ensured I felt safe through making sure that the number of shoppers was limited (I didnt have to have eyes in the back of my head!) Ensuring everyone wore masks and kindly offering to show me anything I would like with a strict no touching policy. This ensured that I knew anything I purchased was squeeky clean and I didnt have to sanitise my hands constantly wondering who else had touched the same thing as me. Only bad point I would say is Im not local. Will definately come here again when back in Salem!
RUDE AND RUDE. BAD ENERGY!! This place has a no touch policy which is understandable due to COVID, but after discussing these natural lodgestones with the employee, I went to grab the bag so I can purchase it and he goes “oh no you’re not supposed to touch it”.. I said “that’s ok I’m buying it” and then woman at the register nastily asked “did she touch it” and he replied yes. She told me I need to leave immediately.Honestly, you have to feel the energy through the stones. Stones are supposed to gravitate towards you. I had bad juju vibes as soon as I got into the store, and that woman confirmed the negativity as I was trying to make a purchase. No one said you can’t touch what you are buying to me. It doesn’t make sense - how can I spread anything if I’m taking it with me. I was purchasing the item.
A welcoming energy and vast amounts of knowledge to be found in this shop. Rev. Jacqui and her staff have created an inclusive and safe space for casual browsers and serious practitioners alike, and it is clear they use their energies for positivity. A gem for Salem.
A slightly more curated witch shoppe in Salem, with space in the back for readings and classes. They carry an array of candles from different vendors that arent repeats of other shops. The space is also much more open, which I appreciate, as other shops can feel claustrophobic. Ive also noticed that they carry a lot of goods from African and afro-Caribbean traditions, which isnt my thing, but is great to see.
Horrible customer service when ordering online. The store stopped responding to my emails about a candle missing from order and took almost a month for them to fulfill a paid order in multiple shippings. Not a bad shop when I’ve been at the actual storefront, but at this point, I will be supporting other shops and small businesses.
Loved this cute little shop. Person working their was super friendly and we were greeted right as we walked through the door. It had a very calm atmosphere and we left with a few trinkets that we will treasure forever. Thank you !
Worst Experience EverIve seen 3 psychics in my life, and most of them have at least been in the general ball park of whats going on and advice. My psychic was horrible. I only had 15 minutes. She spent the first 2 blessing the room because I was her first reading of the day, then spent at least 7 minutes talking about herself, what she enjoys and how she became a psychic. After I finally cut the tarot cards, she flipped them over and told me:1) I was on a journey that many people think is foolish2) I need try going out dancing and having fun on the weekends because Im all work and no play3) I need to cut toxic people out of my life.I told her she couldnt be farther from the truth.1) I moved to Boston to attend Harvard. EVERYONE in my life is extremely happy and proud of me. I grew up in Detroit, and people from here dont get a chance to go to Harvard.2) I spent the past 5 years as a dancer/cheerleader for a major sports team. And I go out every single weekend. I havent even worked in the past 8 months because Im a student. Who goes to happy hour and out all the time.3)There is no one, literally no one toxic in my life. She mentioned a boyfriend. But I have been single for the past 2 years.I told her she was way off base, and she said the cards dont lie. I have never been so disappointed in my life. It was $40!!!
Great store and good people. ☺️
Such a cool store. Smaller selection, but staff makes up for it. They also have a really nice and unique collection of bones.
Lovely little shop with a vast variety of beautiful items for the curious. Friendly and helpful staff with tons of knowledge! Highly recommended!
It was great. I like the bone reading I got from my reader. And the reader, his was great too.
Great store and great staff.
Very friendly staff. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely stopping by again before we leave the area!
The cauldron Black was a great experience for me personally! The staff was very friendly! The owner even took the time to check the back for something for me ! It’s a breathe of fresh air to find a metaphysical shop where the owner is friendly and readily available. Would definitely go back !
One of my favorite shops in Salem! The staff was extremely nice, helpful, and friendly. The shop itself is beautiful, the items and tools are beautiful, and I can’t wait to come back. Beautiful shop in a beautiful location :)
The owner was so friendly and helpful. I would like to say Id come back but I was only in town visiting. I will however be ordering online!
Nice little place for all your metaphysical needs. Moderate pricing
A lovely shop on the Wharf in Salem. Friendly, knowledgeable proprietors; beautiful products, reasonably priced. This is a new shop that deserves support! Highly recommended.
Very cool people and they make efforts to bridge alliances in the occult community. Plus their store looks amazing.
GREAT PLACE JUSTICE THE WIZARD FRIENDLY, AND PASSED ON SOME PRETTY COOL WORLDLY VIEWS. CHECK IT OUT!!
I had my first tarot reading done by Courtney yesterday at The Cauden Black!! It was a really inspiring session and I would definitely recommend visiting her for the insights and guidance that she channels 💖 An absolutely perfect first experience, thank you!
The best authentic witchcraft shop in Salem MA.
Friendly and extremely knowledgable staff. Wonderful atmosphere.
This store is a rare gem. They have a well curated selection of oils, crystals, herbs, candles and jewlery. The store is very inviting and welcoming. It is someplace that right upon walking in, I felt that I was meant to be there in that moment. If you are looking for a metaphysical store with a variety of magical items, this is your store! Tonight I learned about High John which lined up with what I was looking for through meditation. I am greatful I went there and I found some answers. They also have space where they do energy work so I am excited to return in the near future.
The gentleman helped me a lot. He was knowledgeable, professional, and funny. Next time I am in Salem, I will visit.
Knowledgeable staff of occult practitioners with a great selection of witchcraft supplies and books as well as clothing.
Excellent shop with staff knowledgable in all areas of the occult and hidden knowledge. The music they play is great too.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff, extremely cool shop to visit. I picked up some hermetic tarot cards for a great deal.
Jackie is an amazing store owner, and has built the most legit occult stored In Salem!
The best of the Salem occult stores by far. The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and respectful; there are a lot of Salem shops that have a complex about seeming impressive and aloof about their religion or practices, and Cauldron Black doesnt do that. Theyre happy to share knowledge, educate, and conversate. Features local artists. Great selection of books and jewelry, among other cool stuff.
Run of the mill witch shop. Going into the store is like any other witch store in Salem. They lack originality and the merchandise is crappy. So once you walk into any other store like HEX, Omen or Crow Haven Corner you have automatically walked into The Cauldron Black. NEXT!
Loved this establishment, I got an amazing reading from Noel. I would highly recommend it over other places in Salem.
Very friendly staff, nice vibes!
Best Shop in Salem!!!! Justice, Robert and Jacqui are amazing, knowledgeable and extremely helpful
Cool store. Lots of interesting items.
There is a lot of turmoil energy in this place the last 2 days.
The real deal!
