By far one of my favorite record stores, I love looking through the inventory, its like Christmas.

Werent here when there hours say they should be. Its currently 1:00pm on a Friday. Had high hopes because they have good reviews and are one of the only record places in Salem. But, it is what it is.

This guy has a great variety of vinyl with a lot of good classic stuff with just the right amount of modern artists sprinkled throughout a densely stocked store. He was very friendly and helpful. Offered to order similar records and told us if there were any problems to bring the defective items back to him. I am very happy with the albums I bought, OK computer, 40 oz to freedom, and good news for people who love bad news. Awesome local record store! I will definitely stop by next time Im in town. Mellow space. Tons of cds, cassette tapes, & records. I saw many albums that sent me traveling back in time, filling me with detailed memories, uncovering pieces of my past that I love, pieces that are invaluable, as they played a powerful part in making me who I am. Thank you for that, for exposing me to a part of myself that desperately needed to be unearthed. Ive needed that for a long time. Theres likely a nostalgic piece of everyones life in that store. They had some interesting photos & posters too. Prices didnt seem to be that consistent. But you might find treasure from your past.. and you cant put a price on that!

Spoke with the owner of the store, (I think his name is Brian) a few weeks ago about a live recording set from a favorite band. At the time we were informed it was a 2000 piece limited pressing and that since we hadn’t asked for it in the 7 day order window he didn’t have any to sell. He took our names and number and said he’d call us. Well, he made out night tonight with a phone call that he’d found a new copy! Thank you Harvest Music!!

The last bastion of record stores in Salem. You *must* visit this place, the owner will go out of his way to accomodate your musical tastes and requests, he even give stellar recommendations. Keep Harvest alive for the next generation. Rock on.

My buddies and I were on a road trip through Salem and we wanted to come check the place out. I called the shop to make sure there werent any important things to know before swinging through (just in case, yknow). Turns out, the shop wasnt scheduled to be open when we were going to be in town.Brian volunteered to come in and open the shop up early just to accommodate our schedule! When we arrived he was very welcoming, quickly explained how the store was organized and left us to our browsing. He has a great selection of new vinyl with quite a bit of used stuff mixed in as well. Pricing was quite fair and we all were able to find albums we just had to have.I also brought a couple expensive CDs with me that I needed to have resurfaced. Though there are no guarantees with such things, Brian took the time to help me set realistic expectations for the outcome of the resurfacing process. In the end, the service he provided met or exceeded all of them.In summary, Brian is super knowledgeable about music and the history thereof, runs a nice little shop with good selection and fair prices, and provides a quality customer service experience. We were all quite happy with our experience overall. Well definitely be back any time were in the area!

I just recently bought a record player for the first time since I was a kid. It’s been awesome having this store less than 5 miles from my house! He has an amazing selection of vinyl to look through. The gentleman that owns it is such a great dude! He’s always friendly and goes out of his way to help. He’s running this place solo so be patient with his hours, I advise just calling before you head over. I love having this type of store in our community! It’s cool, he’s cool, so everyone just be cool!

I called in a bit ahead of record day to see if they could grab a copy of this animal collective LP I heard was going to be coming out. Went in today and they had it. Also found a copy of their satanic majesties request by the stones and a great white stripes comp while I was in there. Support these guys they rule!

Found this store by radom driving in Salem.Has some decent vinyl, but it was cramped, messy, dark, and outdated.The main floor is still in the 90s with mass amounts of CD racks and CDs covered in dust.The store definitely needs a make over and it would thrive like crazy.Minimize the CDs and get the records the priority.Make it more welcoming.I wasnot wanting to stay long, jusy not a comfortable place to shop.

The owner of the shop was super nice and helped me find Queen records, which I’ve been trying to find in thrift/vintage/antique stores but have had no luck finding ANY. I wanted to stop by Harvest Music because we were driving around Salem and really wanted to bring home some Queen records, and low and behold they had some! I picked up Day at the Races and Sheer Heart Attack, and the owner gave me a discount. Super cool place, super cool owner, I HIGHLY recommend anyone stops by if your in Salem!

I had an incredible experience here. Being in this shop is much like being in a library--of music. I could spend all day in here, and much more money than I had planned. Harvest music is one of the absolute best record shops Ive been lucky enough to visit in a long while. If you like rooting through boxes for that LP youve always wanted but could never find then stop by, I bet you Daves got it. And hes taken care of it for you. Best selection and variety around. Top notch stop for any vinyl hound or real hard core music lover. I call it heaven.

Good man. Orders us odd ball albums and picture disks. I buy something off the shelf whenever we go in. Brian usually gives good advice on my eclectic tastes but for 5 bucks a bummer does not bother me. Its kinda fun digging through the pile of albums in there.

Theres a good selection of items however my issue was with the person running the store. I walked in looking for band patches for a jacket and they did have some, however the gentleman behind the counter was rude and not very helpful. Then a moment later a man walked in as a customer and the man behind the counter began discribing his life story in the store and how helpful he could be and that he was willing to help this male customer find anything or order it if he needed it. I felt like I had been judged from the moment I walked in. Would not buy from here.

I was driving by w/ my boyfriend once and I saw that they had a Nirvana Nevermind album tapestry and I went in to buy it. The guy was really nice to us and he gave me a discount on the tapestry. He also saw that my boyfriend was wearing an avenged sevenfold shirt and began showing him a small tapestry that he also had. I’m really happy with my tapestry, good quality, and it’s really big. Saw a lot of god records ad CD’s. Will be going back!

I recently moved here from Portland and decided to stop by the local record store. I have to say that I have never been to a better music store in my life. The selection and prices are amazing. The owner, Brian was very friendly and helpful. Salem may not be as cool as Portland, but this store makes up for that.

Brian has been running this music store for years. One of the few remaining for used CDs and vinyl. Hell buy yours too if theyre in good shape. Friendly, knowledgeable and he will find most anything you want and let you know if something rare comes in. Great guy!

One of the chillest dudes Ive met

The owner and operator of this store is smug, rude, and speaks to customers like an abusive parent would speak to a child. I was entering one night during a practical gale, rainstorm, and as I reached to pull my hood back over my head as I neared, my wedding ring hit the glass near the door--and he practically accused me of trying to vandalize the building. he had an angry look in his eyes--and I turned around and left--and have never been back, nor will I. In the past, tried to excuse his past indifference, aloofness, and a terribly messy, disorganized store because my love of music brought me there to find that elusive Gem but after being verbally attacked before i EVEN GOT IN THE PLACE--THAT DID IT FOR ME.

The owner is very helpful, he will find it for you if you dont want to search yourself (which is part of the fun). Lots of CDs and vinyl, he has just about everything. The best record store Ive been to in the area.

I had some great shopping experiences while shopping at Harvest Music. I have been able to get everything I wanted and if it was not in stock it was easily ordered. A few years ago I bought a record player at Harvest Music and it is still working perfectly in my home. I couldnt be more pleased.

Pros: Perfectly reasonable prices. Despite what some people are saying, he offers fair trade in values. Since he sells cheap, he has to buy cheap. Not to mention, most records people are trying to sell, have very little market. The guy is nice.Cons: Again, the guy is nice. But weird. I guess theres nothing wrong with that perse, but he is obviously desperate for business. The whole time I was in there, he was offering to cut prices if I bought more. He was giving business cards and saying that if I referred friends, he would give me more discounts. It was just a little aggressive. The biggest con though was the organization. About half the records are in alphabetical order, but the other half are thrown about the store in crates on the ground. There could be some real gems in there, but I dont have 3 hours to look. Speaking of which, selection is pretty average.

Ordered Ministry of Sound Annual 3, very hard to get hold of. Used copy described as very good, and the CD s are perfect, which is paramount not a scratch on them and the cover is pretty good... Excellent value and super fast delivery ... Much thanks from Australia

This is a great Music Resource here in Salem. If owner, Brian, does not have it; he can, in most cases, find it. Yes, it is messy and yes items are all over, but Brian knows where everything is and is super helpful. It is not in a good location, (foot traffic wise) so you have to know where it is, but well worth a visit...

Went there on 10/9/19 to sell dvds and they were closed. Then I looked at the time and it was too early, they didnt open until 12pm in Wednesdays. Then I went back and at 12:15 they still werent open. I needed the money and I had dvds to sell and they were not open. I was very disappointed in this and I saw the other reviews on this place saying how they were nice and they were open. Not when I went there during what was supposed to be business hours

Most amazing experience I have had in a record store, EVER, PERIOD. I have been collecting records for over 10 years now, and you just cannot find this kind of gem in PDX. It would take you visiting 5 or 6 record shops to find what he has in this place. Brian is one of the best souls I have come in contact with in a long time and he def knows his stuff. Love how everything is a scattered around, felt like I was on a treasure hunt, and boy does he have some treasures in there. Even though I live in Portland, this is the kind of experience I would drive out for, daily. Thank you! I will be back!

BUYER BEWARE. Let me start by saying the guy running this store is a thief and a bully. I brought in a record collection for my mother-n-law on 9/22/2014 to see what I could get for it. My wife had looked up some of the records online and found that a few of them were worth $5-10. However, we didnt want to go through the hassle of trying to sell them.When I got to the store, the guy behind the counter told me that he could only give $.50 to a $1 for each record unless there was something exceptional, which was fine. I left the records in the store and he let me know he would call later in the day with an offer. When he called, he said he wanted to keep 37 of the records and he would offer $.50 ea. or about $18. When I told my mother-n-law how much she would get, she decided she would rather donate the collection vs. sell it.The trouble started when I showed up to collect the records. When I came in the store, he pointed to my records against the wall and started the conversation with like I said on the phone I can only offer $15 for the records. So I was a little put off by the change in the price he was offering. I politely told him that my mother-n-law had decided the price was too low and she wanted to donate the records to a local charity.Thats when he flipped out, got in my face saying hed spent two hours looking at things and that hed told me the day before he he could only offer $.50 to a $1 for each record and whyd I waste his time (not really sure why he was getting upset if the records were only worth $.50 each unless he was trying to pull a fast one). I let him know the records werent mine to sell.He grabbed a handful of my records from against the wall and told me to get my stuff and get out. When I went to get the rest of my records, he blocked my path and told me those those were his records. I remember seeing the record on the top of the pile still against the wall, a Halloween Album with the sounds of a Haunted House, which I do remember seeing in one of the the boxes Id brought in. He basically chased me out of the store, cursing me all the way to my car and told me to never come back.I didnt have a complete list of records I brought in (my own fault) and I was looking to donate the rest of them, so I didnt force the issues. However, in the STRONGEST WORDS POSSIBLE I wouldnt recommend doing business with Harvest Music or the guy running it.

I have been in three times and always get great finds. Today i went in looking for disney records since I collect them, and just my luck he had a great selection. He gave me amazing and very reasonable prices, making it better deals then any antique store or at Goodwill. My little sister also found great vhs movies and cant wait to watch them. My overall haul from today probably would have averaged $50 or more online or anywhere else, but for $17 i felt like i was practically stealing! I highly recommend the store and had great service!

It started as a below average record store, unorganized but fair prices. It was very cramped and nothing seemed to be organized in a logical way. Anyway I found two CDs I was about to purchase when I remembered the buy one get one half off sign out front. The guy seemed offended and said I was crazy. I was about to buy them anyway but he kept bringing it up so I left without buying anything and I could tell he was scowling at me on the way out the door.I wish I read the reviews before I went there because they seem to be accurate.

Upon entrance was absolutely excited by everything I saw,definitely felt like a music shop.brian the owner/operator was quite busy but made sure he greeted me.and it wasnt one of those plastic greetings,there was what some would consider attitude in his tone.i found it quite refreshing,no malice,frustration,or attitude at all.He sounded like a guy who was busy,and I personally can understand that.as busy as he was still took the time to answer questions,small talk where it fit,and handled business.im sure if I were to look up his reviews of online sales his rating would be phenomenal.will go out of my way to send anyone looking for a no bs music shopping experience straight to him.and will make a point to do further business there as well.!

Wow! Best Record Shop in Oregon. After almost passing this store by twice I doubled back on commercial a block or two and walked in on what I can easily describe as the richest trove of music albums, discs, posters, videos, and all other sorts of goodies related to the great musical artists of basically all genres. Brian was sitting back, easy to talk with and casually throwing out great suggestions in his incredible stock. All the while he played a great bunch of music from Dylan Hendrix, Robert Plant, and others, both new and old as I dug through his collection and even offerin great discounts for multipurchases and to fix scuffed discs of mine. Ill be road trippin back here real soon.:)
