Alamo Heights Garage was extremely thorough and detailed when working on my car, and kept me updated through the process. My only issue is that I made an appointment for 10am on a Friday, and they did not get to my car for the entire day. They had to keep my car overnight and did not get to it until the following day.

I am really impressed with AH Garage. For three years, our 2013 explorer has had ac issues. We tried other garages including a Ford Dealership, none of who could properly diagnose the issues with our ac. But the previous garages charged us alot of money to repair basically...nothing.We took our car to AH Garage and they took the time and effort to literally trace the lines to find out...that a clip was not connected correctly and had dislodged. A simple fix. Now I have ac again! :-)They also did some much needed maintenance to help get Gertie back to top shape. They are very professional and keeps you informed on the process.I highly recommend AH Garage.

We moved here from out of state not quite two years ago. When you move, finding a reliable and honest auto repair shop is one of the biggest challenges. We have used Alamo Heights Garage for all our auto needs since we arrived and have never once been disappointed. Staff is great. Knowledgeable and friendly. Very customer focused, and no baloney. For work that is not in their wheelhouse they provide good referrals instead of winging it. We not only trust them, we like them.

I took my car to this garage on a Wednesday to have a wire to my starter repaired. I was told they may not get to it on Thursday, and that may take until Friday. On Friday, I did not receive an update, and instead had to wait over the weekend without a car.On the Monday, when I went to pick up the vehicle, the invoice for the service did not contain any information about how long it took to fix the wire. All it said was $400 for labor, with no hourly rate or number of hours worked. It also included $25 for an air filter that I did not ask for and that was not necessary, given that I could easily replace an air filter on my own. I do not believe they spent $400 in labor on my car, and feel that I was ripped off.I would not recommend this location to someone new to San Antonio (like myself). I will be looking for a more local garage where I can feel that someone cares about my best interest.

It was my first time coming to AH Garage. I was experiencing a vibration in my car when I was driving. Initially went to tire store to have them rebalanced. When that didn’t resolve it I went to AH Garage. I work nearby and have heard positive things from coworkers. The owner had time to immediately go on a test ride with me to see if it was the wheel bearings like my husband thought. After Gary realized it was something more I checked it in the next day. They were able to diagnose and fix a pretty serious issue of my suspension arms in one day (knowing I need my car and couldn’t leave it for multiple days). The total price ended up being less than the quote (which I thought was very fair) and they were very generous in helping me secure this other rattling part. I will definitely return!

Ann returned my call promptly and squeezed me in the same day. The pan underneath my vehicle had fallen, dragging, and was hanging on one screw. Driving that way is dangerous, especially on the highway. I appreciate that the Alamo Garage team helps to keep me safe!

Treated like a King!! I have never been to Alamo Heights Garage before, but I was treated with the utmost respect, truthfulness, and competence!!! I went in yesterday, on appointment for an evaluation of my beloved 2001 Toyota Camry, for what I suspected was a compressor or pulley bearing grinding, loudly, not to necessarily get a repair, because I thought it was going to be too big a job for the same day. To my delight, the issue was not what I thought it was, and a proper recommendation was made and my baby was fixed on the spot, after about 90 minutes or so. My bill was absolutely quite reasonable and more than fair! I could not be a happier man right now!!! This is a TOTALLY PROFESSIONAL OPERATION. They really know how to work with customers like me, so well. Gary is truly fantastic, and everybody else too! Not going anywhere else anymore. Period.

I recently moved here from Houston and had been going to a mom and pop mechanic there and had the best experience, so I was looking for that same type of business here in SA. I found it. Honestly, the most trustworthy shop I have been to since I moved to San Antonio 8 years ago. They found me the best parts and best solutions to my Jeep problem. They also found major safety issues that were definitely worth the fix. Very thankful I found them. Great customer service as well!

I had this garage do some work for me once before and the results were good enough for me to return. Second visit was not a pleasant experience. My vehicle required a fuel pump replacement at the cost of $1140. When I picked up my vehicle it was returned with no fuel. I know they had to drain the fuel tank to remove it and replace the fuel pump, but they should have refilled the fuel to the level it was arrived. When I refueled, gasoline leaked out from my fuel tank as the tech did not install the fuel tank properly. My vehicle was very unsafe to drive after the repair. Also, my intake air assembly made a whistling noise as it was also not installed correctly. I returned to the dealer with my complaints of having my car returned to me unsafe and the whistling from the air intake assembly and they addressed it the same day. But I had to go a day without my vehicle and it was very inconvenient. The vehicle inspection report was not accurate and my vehicle still makes a whistling noise from engine air intake hose.

Ive taken multiple vehicles to Alamo Heights Garage, and each experience has been great. Ive recommended them to family and friends! They do good work and dont overcharge.

I brought my car in before and after replacing my AC condenser and compressor myself. The staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and promptly performed the work I had for them on both visits. I was quoted a fair price and paid what I was quoted. Most importantly, my AC is COLD just in time for the summer heat. While I do most of my own maintenance, I will be bringing my car back to them for anything I cant or wont do, and Ill be recommending them to my friends and family.

They did a great job in a timely manner! They changed out the transmission on my 2014 Ram 1500 along with a couple of other services, which would have easily cost me $2,000 more at a specialized transmission shop I took another of my company vehicles to. Highly recommended!

They’re rude. And a rip off.$65 to “diagnose” a problem that was the obvious reason it was towed there. Anyway, Broadway Tire and Automotive gave me a quote for $100 less. They are worth going to, these guys are not.

Alamo Heights Garage has been outstanding on the work they’ve done. My car had issues on multiple occasions which lead to expensive repairs. After the 3rd reoccurrence, I decided to try a new mechanic to provide a secondary opinion. Not only did Alamo Heights Garage fix the issue while charging me much less than my previous shop, but they take the time to make you comfortable with all the repairs. Gary explains everything clearly along with the rational to get it done. Their warranty on repairs is also outstanding, 24 months or 24K miles, which shows that they stand behind the quality of their service and care about their customers. I’ll gladly continue to go there for any future issues or maintenance needs on my vehicle.

Aug 26th 2020 Updatebrought my 2001 Camry in really expecting that I needed a new battery or alternator or both. After the charging system diagnostic system was performed... I received a very honest answer: both the alternator and battery were ok! Very nice in this day and age to get honesty!! You can trust this shop!April 2020Ann and Andy are awesome. My car was perfectly serviced today, re: A/C with no delay based on agreed upon work. Also some recommendations were given for future work I may need - but no pressure. A very very good experience, fairly priced and done right! Thank you!!!!

I picked this shop due to many good reviews. Apparently, my experience was not destined to be as pleasant as some other customers experiences. I had major suspension work done on my Camaro to replace all the worn out components but after that I noticed that my car had a strange swaying motion on the highway. I mentioned this to Gary, the shop owner, about two weeks after the repairs but he did not say anything in reply to my comment. I continued to be aggravated by the swaying motion which felt downright dangerous above 65 miles per hour. The car never had this problem before, even with the old worn out suspension. One day I finally took time to get under the car to try to figure out what the problem might be and I saw that the front anti-sway bar was missing. I told Gary and he said that there is a zero percent chance that his shop left out the anti-sway bar. However, the one other shop that worked on my car confirmed that removing this part was not necessary for the work they did. That leaves only Alamo Heights Garage as the culprit, unless the anti-sway bar was missing before their repairs. If that was the case, they should have told me. I got an anti-sway bar from Pick-n-Pull and installed it myself. I told Gary and he just said, Mm-hmm. Also, I took my daughters Jeep to this shop three times for a rear main seal replacement. They proceeded to inspect the Jeep, and I was told that my coolant was diluted, even though I used 100% pre-mixed coolant specifically for Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep when I replaced the entire cooling system about a year ago. Gary told me my oil is dirty, but my oil only had about 2000 miles on it since I last changed it. I informed Gary about the coolant and oil change history of the Jeep. I came back to the shop for warranty work when the rear main seal leaked again, and they replaced the seal again. The third time the rear main oil seal leaked I forgot to mention to the shop that the vehicle was getting close to needing an oil change. I use synthetic oil and change it every 5000 miles. The oil had 4700 miles on it. The mechanic apparently saved the dirty oil, hopefully in a clean and covered container, and poured it back into the Jeep after the repair was done. The shop did not call me and ask if I wanted new oil put in after the repair, which requires taking off the oil pan. Nobody would want old oil back in their car after it was already drained. Having spent thousands at this shop already, I would have gladly paid a little extra money to put new oil into the Jeep. However, after all the trouble to come back for warranty work again and again, throwing in some free new oil would have been a nice gesture. Also, they never actually told me that they put the old oil back in. I noticed the day after the repair when I checked my oil that it was a little dark in color. I mentioned to Gary that his shop seems to have re-used my old oil, and that as a result I had to change the oil right after it had already been drained, and apparently re-used, during the last repair. All he said was, Mm-hmm. That is a shoddy way to treat me and my vehicle, especially when I always made it a point to be polite and civilized even though I had to come back multiple times for warranty work. Also, this shop claims to use original AC Delco parts, but my Camaro came back from about 3000 dollars worth of suspension and steering work with a squeaking strut and if I remember correctly, either the steering rack or the struts said remanufactured on them. The shop also installed a Pronto brand oil filter when they changed my oil pan gasket on my Camaro. I Googled the Pronto brand since I never heard of it, and it is a very inexpensive oil filter. I took the car back to fix the squeaking strut but it still squeaks to this day so I just live with it. They also re-used my old rubber boot seals on the tie rod ends even though one seal had a huge cut in it. I noticed this when doing a front brake job. They did fix it with new seals when I took the car back and requested new rubber boots/seals.

Best experience I’ve ever had at a garage.

At first I was livid because I just wanted my check system light out or to get rid of my 12 year old car. Instead I had my ball bearings replaced, fluids flushed, wheels aligned ...but the check system light was still on and that in the end, was just due to old sensors. But when I thought about it, when I see patients at the clinic where I work and tell them we need to fix their uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension, or things that will kill them in the long run, they often would rather ignore that and just want to talk about their toenail fungus or whatever. I realize I was being the same, and the car despite the annoying light, is running great. They got me in fast and fixed it promptly and were very professional. So, 5 stars and thoroughly recommend if you want your car fixed right.

The staff is very nice, and the location is a plus.Unfortunately the price I was given to fix my vehicle when brought in from a tow was 3x the price it should have been. I felt like they were taking advantage of the circumstance that my vehicle was immobilized and even tried convincing me that there was no way to get it out of their shop and towed somewhere else. I very easily had it towed to a different shop with a much better price and experience. This may be an excellent shop the rest of the time, but in my instance it was not.

Suspected a dying battery. Had it checked and sure enough it was kaput. They did not have the proper battery but a quick phone call to NAPA and voila, the battery was there within thirty minutes. In addition I had a luncheon appointment I didnt want to break. They volunteered to take me but I had a friend come by and give me a ride while battery was installed and electrical system checked. Picked up my Ford Escape after lunch and then on the road again. Thanks guys, youre the best!

Many years of favorable service. Appointments generally available to fit my schedule. Pick up and drop off available as needed. For the easy stuff, such as an oil change, they always stay on schedule, such that it works out as quicker than going to a mass-market place. The waiting area is clean and well-stocked with reading material. And if theres a five-minute repair, theyve found the time and gotten me in and out.

We were referred to Alamo Heights Garage in 1989 when we arrived in Military Town USA on our last assignment. We have a long and honest history. It never ceases to amaze me the greed of the dealerships in San Antonio. Our last reinforcement of this was when I took our new Toyota to the North Park dealership for its 30000 mile check up and they quote me an outrageous figure, when I questioned what all that entailed, their list was to check items our truck did not even have. When I brought this to their attention, they only said that is was the service fee. I immediately brought the vehicle to Alamo and they accomplished the inspection at a savings of 300%.I also haul horses around Texas and often out of state. I always run the haul vehicle to Alamo for a pre-trip inspection. The vast majority of the time, my truck passes with glowing praises for the health of the vehicle, all which rack up tremendous mileage. But when they do find something it has always been a small but important fix that would have cascaded into dire circumstances if left unattended on the road. The attention to detail is appreciated. Their concern for ME, as displayed by the way they take care of our vehicles, can have no greater reward than my return service and my deepest thanks.
