It’s always good when the person helping you buy an instrument is also a musician.She was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive.I went to buy a violin for beginners and this is my first time shopping for this type of instrument but the moment I went in I was surprised to see the vast collection and how clean the place looked.The girl who helped me was really nice and I am completely satisfied with this purchase.

I love Terra Nova Violins! I am a local San Antonio violin and viola teacher who runs a large teaching studio. I only recommend Terra Nova to my students because they rent quality student instruments. This is a unique shop because not only do they have great instruments for professionals, but they also have very good student violins (which is extremely important as teacher who has to work with these instrument every week). I am very glad San Antonio has such a great resource for students and teachers alike!

Terra Nova Violins has been my one-stop shop for all my string related needs since god knows when (2006). I have purchased a cello and case and couldnt be happier with my experience with this violin shop. They have a wide selection of instruments (from beginning level to top-notch professional quality instruments), bows, cases, sheet music, and various accessories. They also do rentals at a very good rate and offer top quality repair services and even lessons! As a performer and educator, I feel very fortunate to have a violin shop in town that offers everything I could possibly need. It is a fantastic one-stop shop for string players of all levels. If you have never visited, do not hesitate to do so. I highly recommend it!

For repair and luthier work, I cant recommend highly enough Brad Bischoff at Terra Nova. I have known Brad for years and he does the highest quality work. My cello came in for quite an overhaul, a new bridge, fingerboard planing, seams, with two cracks on my top upper bout. Repaired beautifully and in good time. Look at that cello shine!Thank you Brad!

The owner Abbas, the staff are all extremely qualified to help you make an informed, and intelligent choice according to what your wanting from your instrument from bold to warm etc.Their bow selections are also varied and quality. Ive been going to Terra Nova since around the time that it first opened and every experience there has been great. The employees are always super helpful and accommodating and the owner, Abbas, is just wonderful. He is always honest about the state or quality of instruments and gives you a fair deal that reflects that honesty. Ive purchased both a student instrument for high school and a professional level instrument for college at Terra Nova and both of them were of great quality, especially for their prices. This shop is my go-to place for accessories and other goods as well, including cases, sheet music, strings, metronomes, shoulder rests, and a bunch of other useful items for string players. They also have great rental deals for the low price of around $30 a month if purchasing an instrument is outside of your price range. I recommend this shop to anyone I meet that is in need of a stringed instrument or accessories, and I cant imagine myself shopping anywhere else in San Antonio.

Abbas is one of the most professional; friendly and knowledgeable luthiers in the bussiness. The staff is knowledgeable and inviting. As the owner Abbas welcomes you as if you’re a guest in his home. It’s ALWAYS a pleasure to meet with him. Prices are reasonable from their instruments to their repair services. As a teacher I always recommend Terra Nova for my students and all level of players in the South Texas area. My only complaint is I can’t give them a 10 star ratting. My 15 yr old decided that she wants to play her viola as good or better than those in the top class of the school orchestra. I hunted down three recommendations but each failed to work out for one reason or another. Our lucky day came when we set about on a search for a viola case and chose to buy one at Terra Nova Violins. The most awesome girl came up to help us after wed had the perfect amount of time looking at the vast inventory on our own. And, at checkout I asked a sweet young kid whod breezed in if he by any chance gave lessons. He said he does and happens to give them right there at Terra Nova. We ended up getting my daughter a viola case she loves, six weekly summer lessons with Jackson, two music books and had her bow restrung. We love the lessons! Jackson is fantastic as a person and is a truly amazing musician and teacher. He has lots of energy - positve and happy energy and spirit. The bow was done beautifully. The music books are hard (yay). I am happy.

I have been a customer with Terra Nova Violins since I have lived in San Antonio for the past 4 years. I go there for all of my violin needs such as strings, rehairs, and most recently to purchase an instrument. Everytime I enter the store, I am greeted with knowledgeable and friendly people. They are so helpful and only want the best for my violin. Also, their rental instruments are a very nice quality. If you are looking to rent an instrument, Terra Nova is definitely the place you should go and check out. Abbas Selgi, his shop, and his staff, are fabulous. We have rented high caliber cellos from Terra Nova Violins for going on three years. We hope to buy one from them when our son is older. Ive also bought a double bass, a couple of bows, a bass bag, and strings. Theyll be around because theyre always busy.

When I first went in, the service was decent. I took my bow there to repair it, and they took about a week to do it even though it was just a problem with the frog. When I got it back, the tip was partially cracked, and it broke off 3 days later. They were responsible for the damages, but denied that they ever did anything to my bow. After that, I took it to Antonio Strad, where they fixed it at a very modest price, and gave me a new bow at a very discounted price. Would not recommend Terra Nova; go to Antonio Strad.

As a cellist and teacher, I have done business with Terra Nova violins for as long as they have been open. My students and colleagues who go there are treated graciously and with respect, regardless of whether they are looking for their first instrument or a professional level instrument. The owner Abbas Selgi is always there, and takes time with customers even if the shop is really busy, which it often is. The workmanship done on repairs is top quality, and if anything still needs tweaking or did not get the result that my students or I were looking for, Abbas works with us and with the instrument until we are happy. The bow rehairs are outstanding, and Terra Nova is where I take my 19th century French bow for rehairs, because I know that it will be done right. Sometimes repairs take a little longer because the shop is busy, and because the repair work is done carefully and correctly, with no cutting of corners. In the event that a repair is taking longer than expected, an instrument or bow is always offered as a loan until the repair is done. Terra Nova violins has loaned hard cases to young cello players here in Austin and San Antonio at no cost when they are going out of town with their orchestra and need a hard case to transport their instrument. Thank you Terra Nova for your support of all musicians, whether young, old, professional or amateur, and for your support of the fine arts in central Texas as well!

They have always treated me very well, like one of the family.Terra Nova has the best inventory of any shop in Texas, from rental instruments to fine, fine, old instruments. They also have a growing number of the best new instruments from American as well as European makers.The owner,operator, luthier, Abbas Selgi surprises me all the time with his generosity tword his customers.
