I went over there to get an item for a friend. A midi keyboard virtual instrument. The guy behind the counter was very busy and still had the time to show me a couple of models that I SMSed to my friend. Very professional and knowledgeable folks working there. This was the exact model my friend went with and was VERY happy with the purchase. Without the counter guys assistance and knowledge, I would not have been able to make an educated choice for my friend. It is always different when making purchases for someone else. I know what my needs are and do not require guidance for purchases. I was happy for the assist.
Love spending my time and money here, demos are clean and well kept, staff is always happy to stay busy and help me. Ask for “Rock” (what a cool name to have when you work here) he’s great! He’ll hook you up with anything keyboard/controller related.
They have everything u ever need music wise got to pre play what I was going to buy and test it out. Love my time there like always I wanna go back
Ive been here twice each time I learned something new the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable I will be shopping here more often
Really Great Guy that works there! Couldnt be more polite & helpful. Didnt act like I or my questions were stupid. Was just as respectful as could be.Yes, it is how it should be and how it used to be; but is so very rare now. Was refreshing to walk out of a store still in a good mood! They have my business back solely because of this gentlemen.
Guitar Center gets 4 stars mainly because the guitar repair tech. The dude is freaking cool and helpful. The other guitar guy is cool too, but if every employee was helpful like this guitar tech...
Good selection of musical eq and books. Lot of keyboard- pianos.
They had the microphone I was looking for, however no one was there to help me for a good 10 minutes. When I got the microphone, however, it was smooth sailing.
I bought speakers and one of them started smoking the weirdest part was the speaker still worked so it wasnt shorted or blown. I took it back and got no straight forward answer besides its a fluke I then proceeeded to return 359$ speakers (2 of them) mind you I drove almost 3 hours to this location and was forced to drive back if I wanted anything to happen. when I was in the process I was told they couldnt take my speakers back without the boxes and that there was a 10% fee to do so. again I drove here from miles away twice due to the lack of quality you the company provided me. I was offered no compensation. I then purchased two more speakers (900$ each) (I bought 2 QSC speakers) they were sold as brand new yet one of them had no power cord and already had dings and marks on it right out of the box. look at the dust collecting in the speaker! does that scream factory seal to you?
Love the Guitar Center and always find what I need. Have bought several guitars there and had one repaired. One stop shopping for all my guitar needs.
The Guitar Center is a classic music store when you can still walk in, pull a guitar off the wall and plug into an amp to see if you like the guitar/amp. There is almost no pressure. The sales people are very helpful and their manager helped make my latest purchase affordable. I am not discounting other music dealers in town. They need your support too. This place though is a chain retailer and the local people there are really good and helpful.
Mikes the best. Thank you for all the info.
I really like this store. The staff is wonderful, but the lack of merchandise is frustrating. Thank you, democrats for screwing up our economy.
Customer Service is great no issues needed answers to what I wanted. My daughter had her guitar repaired a while back. She was very pleased with the result. Find a very quality guitar used or new. Need a repaire or replacement this is the place to get the sounds for your brain waves indulgment.
When you have a line that wraps around your building because u will only let 8 people at a time in is a bit ridiculous. If your company is that afraid of COVID I think you need to close. We have been living with the virus for 18 months. You all lost my sale as I went to a local competitor that had their doors open and more than happy to be a store and make a sale.In this day in age I would think you would rather make money than turn away business.
I got to admit I was scared to order online off of Guitar Center. In hindsight after ordering online and looking at review to find a lot of negativity. This left me nervous... However, I did receive an Email informing me my order was in fact my NOT in stock in warehouse. It though was in stock in store, and could be ship from store to store for me to pick up just not to be NEW IN BOX. Which wasnt a lost for me seeming if I were to go to a store to purchase it it would be the same results. But I loved the Ben Bossley from Guitar Center had contacted me let me know of the situation and I did receive my order in GREAT condition. I know other have had their concerns but I did have a great experience.
I got kicked out of the guitar room so that a salesman could bring in a middle aged white male could play a guitar in the room alone I guess because I guess the sales guy really wanted to make a sale. It was so incredibly rude to single out someone because they “look” like they aren’t going to buy something when we had every intention in buying a guitar. It was a horrible experience at this location.
The customer service was wonderful, they helped me and my son find the items he needed for his new guitar. They were also kind enough to give him a few pointers on how to fix his guitar and shared a few recommendations for other items he might need without being pushy. They had all the things we were looking for and we will definitely make this our go to store from now on.
Not bad... I gotta say Music & Arts employees are far more helpful and charismatic. But yeah, pretty good.
Not enough employees to adequately help the small handful of customers. I have to squarely lay blame on ownership and upper management. Just another major retailer in serious decline.
I had come to guitar center before. Unfortunately my item was not available. I left disappointed, the salesman did not offer any advice as far as online orders or any other help. Rock however rocked it. He found the item in their warehouse and placed the order for me. He was professional and delivered exceptional customer service. He is an asset to guitar center.
Had a great time looking around. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Been here many times and Im finally writing this review. Staff are inattentive; treat you like a stranger every time you come in. Last time I went, 2 staffers made it a point to extend and finish their benign conversatio behind the counter before addressing me. I had a lot of money i was ready to spend.Price of gear is average, nothing special. All a store has to offer over online shopping is live gear and knowledgeable staff, and this store is neither. Nothing ever changes.
Flawless, accommodations galore, and Compassion!!! All the staff is 100% connected to your needs and wants!! No shortage of smiling faces and employees who are crossed trained and willing to help you even if its not their position. The gentleman who fixes our guitars and other instruments was cashing in and out customers with record speed!! The day after 4th of July he seemed confident and convicted in attending to the customers needs even though that was not his position. He literally was multi-tasking 3 customers issues at the same time including me!! All with a friendly demeanor and consideration for our needs!! He never skipped a beat down to the last customer who was myself. He apologized for the inconvenience of the wait but I assured him I would have waited as long as it took bcz his attention to detail regarding our needs was ONE OF A KIND!!@
Very nice and well educated people that know what they doing and not to mention they got good sales going on. Will recommend to go this location for any music equipment.
I was sold a defextive cymbal that spontaneously grew a 4 inch crack out of nowhere. Juan was very understanding and courteous in working a deal with me. Excellent place, have gone here for years and this experience only makes me want to return. Thank you Juan!
Its okay not much selection of beginner guitars. Employees are very helpful and knowledgeable.
These guys are the best! The prices are also really good, pretty unbeatable for the quality guitars. None of the sound equipment I purchased was overpriced. In fact, some items had very good deals/sales. Youre getting a good value. Not only is the team super knowledgable, they are also super friendly and helpful. What a great shop and a great atmosphere!
I had recently purchased a EV powered speaker, and new out of the box it was dented. I contacted the lady who sold it to me and her name was Sheryl, I told her about the dent on the speaker and she assured me she would make it good with a new speaker. The instore warranty ran out by the time they received the same speaker but as she said ( this is a not to worry situation) she replaced it......Thank you Guitar center, and thank you Sheryl for the peace of mind!
I honestly just went and browsed their selections and prices. Affordable! A wonderland for musicians and audiophiles.
They were very busy, we had at least a 20 to 25 minute wait to get questions answered. (A Thursday morning) When we were finally helped, the sales person was knowledgeable and not pushing just to sell something (which we appreciated for a large purchase). Ultimately, we got lots of information, but were not quite ready to buy yet. All in all, except for an extended wait, it was a good experience.
Guitar Center is always a pleasure to visit I love that place I recommend it to everyone beginners 2 totally Advanced professional is great for kids of all ages leave me a few looking for a guitar bass keyboard you name it you need your instrument to be worked on setup this is the place I cannot stress it enough this is where you want to go without a doubt this is the only place for me I recommend it to everyone
Terrible service! 4 employees standing around doing nothing inside, but they werent letting people inside to shop. There were literally 7 customers standing outside at 1pm in the August heat waiting to be let in. My husband went in the exit to see what was going on and the told him they didnt have enough employees to serve so many people. What? There were 7 people. Then they asked him to leave. Yep. Were taking our money elsewhere. Dont waste your time here unless you like standing outside in the sun.
Cheryl is my favorite staff member there. She actually remembers people who come to the store in Pro Audio, and she knows her stuff. I cant wait till the supply chain garbage is over so Guitar Center can restock its shelves. I used to go there to network and test out the new items on display and spend money I shouldnt have spent. Now the shelves are bare and not much is in-stock.
Im pretty sure they are closing soon because they dont have much merchandise. Makes me regret not enjoying the time that this place was actually full of life. Associates might greet you, but dont hold your breath.
Signed up for in store guitar lessons. Day later received an email saying all my lessons were online. Over the next three days, I called four (4) times, trying to straighten this out. Each time I was told “I’ll have ‘them’ call you back”. No one has ever called. Guess once they get your money, customer service goes out the window.
Absurdly bad customer service. They were limiting the store to 2 people at a time, leaving 6 people standing in the Texas Aug heat outside. Its a GIANT store, absolutely no reason to limit capacity to 2 people. I wasnt even asking for assistance but was asked to leave the store. Wont be coming back, ever.
Mostly I frequent Guitar Center for orchestral and brass instruments, violin strings and music books.
Immediately got help at the guitar and bass department to place my order. Walked around to look for some bass books/tabs and more than once was asked if i needed any help. Thats the type of customer service San Antonio needs.
They have been around a long time. been here a couple of times every time I come here they always have limited stock and most of the supplies are gone. So theres not really much to choose from I almost feel like I should just go ahead and buy online or at Amazon. the staff here are very nice the bathrooms are decent but not the best parking is average this place has not written updated in about 20 years even the carpet looks over 20 years old. They have little to no selection of inventory.
I love this place but when it went there was only 5 acoustic guitars for sale and they were all over 500. What happened to the selection?? If anyone knows feel free to let me know
Kinda messy and disorganized. Looked unkept and dirty. Staff we talked to were very cool and helpful.
Had string replaced at no charge on Violin ..very reasonable
Staff was very helpful. Guitars are cool!
Ask questions they will help you they all know what there doing . Great people !
Great place to shop. Staff is wonderful and knowledgeable and gave great suggestions for my purchase. Would rather spend money here than online.
●●●Update after reading further down on the Reviews I see Im NOT the only who was disregarded. I think Management NEEDS to make a change. Or eventually theyll finally see Sales decline and wonder why.Reading some of these Reviews makes me question if I was at the Right location. I walked into Guitar Center yesterday looking for a keyboard. I stood at the first counters on the left for about 5 minutes NO ONE ever greeted Me. The store wasnt busy at all, contrary to that, employees were talking amongst themselves. I proceeded to browse in the Keyboard department and was sitting there for about 20 minutes and NOT ONE SOUL came to ask if I needed assistance. Shortly after sitting there a young guy and his father come in and an Associate finishing up with a customer tells them Ill be right with you, let me just finish up here and surely he does. As Im standing behind them while the Associate is playing a keyboard to show the customers how it works, they agree to purchase it the Associate walks right pass me... not even an acknowledgement. I ultimately spent an hour in this store NO ONE EVER Acknowledged me. I could have walked in sat there to eat Lunch and just have a place to be in for No reason and it wouldve been fine. One might ask why I never asked for Assistance, well last I recall Customer Service is something given NOT asked for and theyre REALLY that GREAT they wouldve demonstrated that. Nonetheless, this was MY EXPERIENCE, for everyone else I hope youre NOT disregarded making you question your Own Existence. Maybe if I had gone Dressed Up and NOT using my cane, maybe I wouldve been greeted and assisted by the Assocites. Fortunately for me I left drove up the block and purchased a Keyboard and that Establishment gladly assisted me and they made $1,500 in Sales. #WinningSide Note~ As much money as Guitar Center makes this think they could fix that counter at the front doors. Cabinet doors are broken on the floor. That could be a liability, especially when they NO LONGER have a Greeter at the door. The whole store NEEDS an update.
To be honest, it’s really a hit or miss with this place a lot of associates are busy with the dudes that belong in bands or just forget about you when you ask for help. My two other times coming here weren’t to great today was perfect one associate asked if we needed help finding anything and at the moment we didn’t. But by far the best customer service I’ve gotten anywhere was by Rock. Just because of his positive vibes and knowledge about the items I asked about really makes me want to return my business to him :)
Awesome customer service, my kid got delaited by playing as many guitars as he was able to, we will come back when the time to buy the guitar arrives
Ive had so many bad experiences with the store manager Stephen, I should really stop giving them another try. He is always dismissive and not committed to customer service. Last time I needed to talk to him about a return that I had he said to go to the store and ask for him but he was no where to be found. Turns out he took a long weekend. Lucky for them I love music so much and dont have many option in S.A. Perhaps, Ill give Sweatwater my money.
Called ahead to make sure they had what I was looking for yet 30min later I was told they where limited in guitars. Sales guys where too busy making lunch plans when they finally helped they made sure to rush through so they could leave for lunch. Ended up buying at Sam Ash
This is the place to buy it all instruments I feel in love with a drum set cant wait to buy me them
It doesnt really seem like theres enough employees to tend to all the customers needs when I go in there. At the same time theyd never have what Im looking for 😐
I really just have a question, I have a piano that I am trying to sell and wanted to know if your store buys instruments or if you know who buys pianos thank you in advance
It was great as always. Short staffed due to Covid measures but still fantastic service.
My musician boyfriend said the store was short on the guitar department. They seemed to be understaffed because there were only 2 people assisting everyone and what would have taken us at most one hour took us about 2 hours.Still think all Guitar Centers should have a cafeteria and lounge area.
The place is actually pretty good especially the equipment but when I first got there it’s as if no one wanted to attend me other than that everything was nice and clean and of course they have a variety of equipment to anything from people in to musicians I am doing Livestreams
Very nice and large music center. Lot of guitar and instrument. I tried a couple guitar bought some strings, picks, etc. Prices seemed fair to me.
Great place. Great people
Excellent service Cheryl Williams is amazing
Chuck from audio is very knowledgeable on whatever you need and very patient
Good store good selection. Easy to deal with.
Cheryl was AMAZING!! I am starting a podcast and she gave me a billable 15 minutes quick lesson on key equipment dos and dont!!
We were looking for a guitar, but didnt know what to look for ot where to begin. Someone walked us through it and found the right one. Great service
Great place and items.Im a man and I have to admit even the long line is fast and variety is great.
Always willing to help me through my lack of knowledge concerning new gear
Awesome place, awesome staff and you can find almost everything for musicians... love the place.
Low stock in guitars and basses. Pretty slow for a Saturday. Drum salesman helped me with what I needed. Questions answered. Quick service.😎😷👍🎼🥁🎛️
Absolutely terrible. They wouldnt help me string a regular guitar. Nothing special, I bought strings from a different location and they wont help me put them on. Saying it costs 20$ on top of the expensive strings. It costs 9.99 to put in a electric tuner but it costs 20$ for strings. Zero excuse, there where 7 associates 7!!! Not a single one helping people, and they still wouldnt help us. Worst music store Ive ever been to. I cannot say even elaborate how terrible my experience was. I waited 30min to get told its gonna cost 20$ to string the most simple of things using their 20$+ strings. The manager was named Marc gave us the nastiest looks acting like he doesnt have time for us even though there was no one in the store. He was too busy looking at his cellphone. To pay us attention though we are just RETURN CUSTOMERS never again. I bought my last guitar from here a Gio Ibanez, better believe I wont take my business back to a company like that. Im going to call corporate or something I just feel so slighted.
No associate in the drum department, one was called on the intercom that never showed up. Three different sales people from guitar department that just passed me by as obviously appeared that I needed assistance. So I, along with my thousand dollars plus headed to Sam Ash where I purchased a full set of Paiste cymbals.
The the go to place for beginners to Eric Clapton gods that make their money by playing their best with fabulous instruments. Ive had the pleasure of talking to their consultants. Always masters of their trade.
First time goin and they where real friendly and actually helped me with qhat I actually need without trying to over sell me on thing that I dont need im ganna start buying all my gear there from now on 👍👍👍
Nice place. Guitar selection was slim but I get it cant always have what you want. Still enjoyed stopping in a jamming a bit.
Great selection of all things music and even better customer service! Ask for Ms.Cheryl if you need anything electronic or dj type equipment. What are you waiting for, get going!
Everyone is so knowledgeable and So Friendly! And they got EVERYTHING you need at this particular store. Its the biggest GC Ive seen in person. Ill post pics tomorrow. THANKS guys! Had minor repairs done. Very quick. Never have seen it busy, but of course because of the weather, bit if it was a good day out, Im sure you can have multiple hundreds of buying customers. My favorite staff member is the one who helped me with my recording bundle to start making music, again very knowledgeable. Only GC Ill ever go to....unless I see something ridiculous. 😜 THANKS AGAIN GUYS AND GIRLS!
Diego went above and beyond the call of customer service. This man deserves a. Promotion!
This Guitar Center location epitomizes the current sad state of retail. Spent half-an-hour walking through the store early Monday afternoon, as I considered buying a guitar strap, some picks, and examining a Spector bass that was hung high on a wall. There were several GC employees standing in a gaggle, who ignored me the whole time I was in the store -- even though I was standing close to them examining items in a display case. The store seemed unkempt and empty in some areas -- the bass display section was barren -- and in other areas, items were cluttered in piles on countertops and in bins and boxes. Attendants were absent from the sales counters and although I stood near a cash register for several minutes in hopes of garnering the attention of a salesperson, I was ignored by passing GC employees. Id visited Sam Ash Music - a nearby store - last week, and despite accosting and verbally engaging with a salesperson - the Sam Ash clerk was curt in his responses and appeared as if I were a nuisance. I walked out of the store, deciding to give Guitar Center a try. On my visit to Guitar Center - which was my first in over a year of COVID (I typically order instrument strings, etc. via Amazon or Sweetwater) - I decided to remain quiet unless a salesman approached me. BTW: Sam Ash Music was even more junky and bereft of merchandise than GC. Honestly, I miss the days when music store staff would flock to me like bees to honey. I guess those days are over. Welcome to the new era of 100% online sales with delivery by Amazon Prime, FedEx, or UPS. Never Guitar Center again!
I went in today to ask some questions about some music equipment I inherited from my uncle who passed away on Saturday. I talked to a man that was behind the counter where the midi controllers are displayed and he kinda got upset when I didnt understand what he was talking about so I walked away without any knowledge about my equipment. I went back to his section because everything I needed was there and asked to see a midi controller and he answered back very rudely Are just going to look at it or are you going to buy it!. I told him You know what, forget it! And I asked him for his name and he said it was Chuck! I will never go back again.
The employees at Guitar Center were amazing and very friendly. Store manager was also a great help as well. I do recommend any one that is interested in buying instruments from this place.
This review is about ordering online...I ordered a NEW...NEW being the operative word. Behringer mixer, after tell me the wrong delivery date the sent me a used open box mixer with metal mounting bracket banging all around the box with the mixer...the worst experience I have had and as the people at the San antonio location can tell you, I buy all my equipment from guitar center...that ended with this delivery. Such poor service I now understand why the had to file bankruptcy
This is a great store. Chuck, Kaylin, and the staff are awesome.
4 stars because they have decent stock during this shortage. Otherwise....not a huge fan of most of the staff.
There werent any Boss Katana 50s or Line6 Spider Vs 240s set up to demo.
Man how it felt to he reunited to one of my fav places in San Antonio. I love that you can test out your fav guitars before purchasing and the staff is very knowledgeable
Legitimately the worst guitar center I’ve ever been to. I happen to like GC a lot and have been to branches all over the country. This store is under stocked and understaffed. Recommend you go anywhere else.
I am learning music and buying good instruments; Im happy.
The associates are always helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I was only in to get some new cables and even in a pretty busy store we were in and put quickly.
