My family and I are from Arizona. We were traveling to San Diego and our check engine light turned on so I made an appointment towards the end of the day to have it checked before we continued our trip.Craig Buska was our advisor and we could not be more grateful for his kindness and professionalism! He went above and beyond to make sure we had our vehicle ready so we could continue our trip! Thank you again for saving our trip and it’s because of this kind of service we love our VW’s!

Waste of my time.Made an appointment in the morning for a checkup and was told it’d take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to finish, so I decided to wait in the customer’s lounge for my car. I also had told them that I had somewhere to go about 3 1/2 hours after the scheduled appointment, which seemed plenty of time for just a check up. After 3 hours of waiting, I watched through the window of the lounge and recognized a car I saw that arrived to the workshop about half an hour after me leaving so I got curious about the progress of my car. I walked over and saw my car parked to the side and asked if my car was finished, and what the guy told me made me lose my patience. He told me that they hadn’t started on my car yet because it wasn’t an “important appointment” since it was just a check up. Now, I’m an understanding person, and I’d been fine if he had said that they were really busy and could’ve given me the heads up that they wouldn’t finish within 2 hours. But he just flat out said that my appointment wasn’t first priority and took care of cars that arrived after me. And so when I told them I needed to go somewhere and knew a check up wouldn’t be done in 30 minutes, they just gave me my car back and said to come back another day for the check up. Absolute waste of time to even go there. And so I had to make a new appointment a week after the day I originally wanted it done.

Short estimates on service times quickly turns into hours of waiting with no updates from staff. Just get a rental car and drop off your vehicle for the day. Staff misdiagnosed our SUVs electrical issue and paid hundreds of dollars on a “fix” that didn’t resolve it. Won’t come back here again.

Terrible experience. Was a total bait and switch. Posted a price at a discount. When I asked about it we got a back and forth where they even said they didnt have that car. I pointed them to their own website and they magically found the car. Said the price was legit. I said Id buy the car and AFTER AGREEING ON THE PRICE they came back afterward saying it was only available if I financed through them. Whats the price if I dont finance? Would. Not. Give. Me. A. My initial experience was great. I was super excited and happy to buy a 8 seater 2019 Atlas for my growing family. When purchasing this vehicle I thought I had bought what was explained to me a maintenance contract that covered every 10,000 up to 70,000. I my scheduled 40,000 maintenance. Upon arrival I was told by the one of the service managers that I was not cover for the maintenance and would owe 250$. Instead of helping me try to figure out or point me in they right direction to fix this issue the service rep practically told me get lost. Being a reasonable person I said thank you and try calling their finance department. I tried calling the finance department 10 plus times but couldn’t get a hold of them until 2 days later which was unfortunate because I had to take a day off work which is hard for military member to do to make the appointment but never was serviced. Turns out I had only purchased 50,000 and 60,000 maintenance so I guess that my fault for not understanding what I was purchasing. That being said after buying this vehicle I have experienced 4 check engine lights which there service department could not seem to fix. Horrible experience with this service department and highly DO NOT recommend. Finally took my vehicle to South Bay VW which has been a more enjoyable experience.

If you have the chance to get your car detailing taken care of here!? You WILL be more than impressed- you will be blown away! I have done nothing but compliment these guys ever since I 1st purchased their Groupon. What deal! I spent about 85$, for a super detailed job and steam cleaning of the interior. JUST THAT ALONE, the steam cleaning of the interior- 2 vouchers now..2 different cars: equally impressed, exceeded MY high expectations!Just found out that my lilcar with OVER 200,000miles (scion 05) after the detailing was donated 2 PBS (thinking that due to miles wouldnt get too much- but it was as close to pristine on the visual!)they sold for 1300$!My new vehicle, once brought home had a stain on the 2nd row seating that the dealership couldnt get out...this place paid a lilspecial attention to the seat and it turned out immaculate! ♡ Go to them even if u dont get the Groupon.

The Sales Manager (Mike), jumped through hoops to make this deal happen. I appreciated VERY much everything that he did to work this out for me, and for all of the extra work he did (that he did not have to do). He took the time to work through some issues and talk to VW directly to get the loan approved. Also, my salesmen Dak and Rod were amazing, every step of the way. Dak worked with me for a whole day over phone and email, and the morning that I was able to go to the VW store, Rod helped me and went out of his way to make sure all of my questions were answered. He showed me all of the different vehicles that I wanted to see, and was really knowledgeable about each and every one. I appreciated his time and his knowledge to answer all of my questions very much.

Their operator is rude and very unhelpful and constantly hangs up calls. It is almost as if the customer is a bother and not a source of income. Their sales reps try hard but seem a bit inexperienced or under trained. The service reps are fantastic! The good news is that you can use this to get a great deal! Senior management seems to care but whomever hires the sales reps and admin support is incapable of finding quality employees. By being willing to walk away twice, they dropped the price of our new car over 25% off retail! If you are willing to put up with their incompetence you can get a pretty good deal. If on the other hand you want to deal with professionals in the sales and finance departments, you should probably go to a different dealership. However, you will pay a bit more for customer service.

I rushed down to VW Mission Bay to look at a car that I was interested in. Their hours of operations weren’t displaying correct on here so I arrive an hour before they opened and spent that time looking over the 2015 VW Golf TDI I was interested in. Nikki arrived about half an hour before opening and didn’t hesitate to grab the keys and talk me through the car and test drive it. Super helpful and I made the purchase. Their finance man, Ari, was also very helpful and helped me get an even better deal than I had agreed too. They took care of everything quickly and continuously offered drinks to me. Awesome customer service. But wait there’s more! I purchased the car and a road hazard plan since I drive about a hundred miles a day to and from work. On day two I had a rock fly up and chip my window... I was told that the plan hadn’t gone into affect yet... but amazingly Doron and Ari worked together and got my window replaced free of charge. Both were very understanding and made a hundred percent sure I was taken care of. I had dropped of the car early to have the window replaced and headed to work, when I returned (shorter day at work than expected) I thought I was going to sit there for hours, INSTEAD Doron hopped on the phone and got my window fixed faster and to make sure I didn’t have to wait I get he had one of his staff drive me to the location to pick up my car (conveniently closer to home than the dealership for me). The staff member he sent was Alex who usually works with detailing the cars and was super friendly and even gave me some insight into my vehicle on the drive to pick it up. He offered me a free wash since they weren’t going to be able to at the location where the window was replaced. All and all the team at VW/ Chevy Mission Bay did not miss a single chance to impress. Nikki, Ari, Doron and Alex were all incredibly helpful. I look forward to sending my friends to check out this dealership and am extremely happy with everything. I sincerely hope this guides a few more into their doors, you won’t regret it one bit.

When I told him that I’d have to get off work early one of the days during the week to go with my husband after his work, to pick up the car (during this pandemic they’re closed Saturday) he didn’t hesitate to try and find a solution for us. He had the car delivered to us in La Mesa! I think highly of Craig and his super customer service! She walked us through all the models and had extensive knowledge on all the features and was sure to walk us through them before and during the test drive. She was very friendly and extremely patient when we were trying to negotiate prices. She did not even attempt to push us into something that was over our price limit and was extremely patient with getting us the exact car we wanted for the payment we could afford. They ended up showing us a deal we could not refuse and we chose to purchase the car. The purchase process was very timely on their part, and they did everything they could and more for me considering I was a first time buyer with very limited credit history. My mother had just purchased a Ford a few months before from another dealership in SD and was saying she did not even receive close to the treatment Christa showed us. Shes amazing! We came very close to purchasing a pre-owned certified 2014 VW Jetta Wagon TDI from Mission Bay VW. The vehicle was very presentable and clean, however, the brakes were not up to par and the brake rotors were distorted causing a brake pulsation and the brake pads in my opinion were at or near the minimum specs for a certified VW vehicle. I was disappointed that despite a few flaws and the brake issue, we agreed on a price the previous day and surprisingly the price increased a couple hundred dollars when we returned ready to purchase the following morning. Although they agreed they would service the brakes and include a $300 discount if purchased for their asking price. In the end, we feel that this was not the best judgement to place this vehicle on the lot for sale as a certified VW with the brakes in questionable condition. There was also some confusion with the online discount amount for scheduling a test drive and filling out the online information as advertised on the website. Had they honored the full $500 discount which does show up on their website, we would have purchased the vehicle. We realize used cars may have some issues, however we wanted to purchase a Certified VW for the piece of mind and assurance knowing the vehicle was properly conditioned and wouldnt require additional repairs post purchase. I guess this car wasnt the one of us after all.

If there was an option for zero stars, City VW, Jim Klepper, Shane Denher and the owner deserve it.SERVICE CUSTOMER BEWARE!!!!!!On Monday, April 16th my GOLF R suddenly stopped running. No warning signs, simply died and wouldnt start again. I called VW roadside to have it towed to City VW to diagnose the problem. I was informed the water pump failed and VWofA had approved a new motor to be installed and covered by my warranty. On April 25th I pulled out of VW with a new motor in my car.Fast forward to early September, my car dashboard suddenly lights up with a CEL then an EPC then finally a flashing CEL. I pulled over immediately and had the car towed to City VW. 4-5 days later I was told by Jim Klepper and VWofA representative Ruben that my warranty was void due to aftermarket parts. City VW never diagnosed the car and now (3 months later) VWofA wants me to pay to have it towed from where it sits now to Mossy VW of El Cajon to have it diagnosed. This was after 3 months of begging and pleading, yelling and frustrated for someone to tell me how one of my aftermarket parts caused the issue. Finally I got someone to say that VWofA would send in writing a letter stating that my warranty was void due to the aftermarket parts. It wasnt until then when I read a paragraph from the FTC website stating it was illegal for them to do and say this. Jim Klepper has yet to respond to my email that references the below paragraph. Read the below paragraph that comes straight from the Federal Trade Commission website-Will using aftermarket or recycled parts void my warranty? No. An aftermarket part is a part made by a company other than the vehicle manufacturer or the original equipment manufacturer. A recycled part is a part that was made for and installed in a new vehicle by the manufacturer or the original equipment manufacturer, and later removed from the vehicle and made available for resale or reuse. Simply using an aftermarket or recycled part does not void your warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal for companies to void your warranty or deny coverage under the warranty simply because you used an aftermarket or recycled part. Still, if it turns out that the aftermarket or recycled part was itself defective or wasnt installed correctly, and it causes damage to another part that is covered under the warranty, the manufacturer or dealer has the right to deny coverage for that part and charge you for any repairs. The FTC says the manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket or recycled part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage. After having my car diagnosed by a mechanic, I was informed that cylinder 2 had zero compression. Basically, the motor was toast.... again! After researching what causes this on a new motor with just 5k miles, website after website mentions the number one reason being low oil. I never had an oil light come on. Could it be that the tech at City VW didnt put oil in the car when replacing the motor? Low and behold, I check the invoice and no oil on it, however, there was freon and engine coolant. The single most important item for a engine to run smoothly for a long period of time is.... you guessed it... OIL! I wouldnt trust anyone at the City VW service department with my bicycle, let alone my car.

I set up a service appointment online, three days before the appointment. As part of the service request I told them that I needed to know what the cost of the service was, in advance, and requested they contact me. I did not receive contact. When I arrived, they quoted me $950 for the service... about $400 more than I was expecting (based on the list cost of 40,000 mile service on a VW.) I called Kearny Mesa VW, who quoted me $550 (which was the expected price.)In short, City VW tried to rip me off $400 on standard service. I complained to the service manager. I received a call back from their customer service advocate, explaining thats not who we are here but, based on my experience, thats exactly who they are there. My first time at City VW almost cost me $400 more than it should have for a standard dealership service. Thats completely unacceptable.

No hard sales techniques! City Chevrolet was my first stop. They made me think stereotypical smarmy car salesman were a thing of the past...then i went to El Cajon Toyota. I went back to City and bought a certified pre-owned car from Ian at a great price. I have gone a few times for repairs covered under warranty. Mike in the service department thanks me for business even when I dont spend a dime.

My wife and I visited a car dealership (not VW) that had a used VW GTI on their lot so we took it for a test drive. It was a fabulous car but the wrong color so we headed over to City VW and met Matt. Matt was a fabulous "salesman." He did not try to sell us on the VW but shared his experience with us as a new VW owner (he and his girlfriend had both recently purchased VWs) and as a new VW employee. Matt had worked at a previous dealership and talked about his knowledge of VW and how impressed he was with them. It was amazing that he knew so much about the company and their cars given that he had not worked there for very long. His enthusiasm said a lot for their product and philosophy. Matt is a different kind of salesman. He asked us what we were looking for in a vehicle and explained how VW matched our criteria but did so in such a way that we never once felt pressured like most salesmen make you feel. It was as if we were talking to a friend who was sharing information with us rather than trying to get something from us. He never once felt desperate to make the sale but seemed genuinely concerned to get us in a vehicle that worked for us. We were in love with the GTI and could have easily took one home that night but wanted "to be sure" so we went home to do more research. We spent the next day driving around to more dealerships and compared both the cars and the salesmen. None of the vehicles seemed right for us and after a day of doing battle with aggressive salesmen trying to "make the sale" we were so happy to come back to City VW and tell Matt we were done looking. We had called him earlier in the day to tell him we were coming back in and he waited for us even though he was supposed to be off work already. The price was a not what we were hoping for but they eventually found a way to make it work for us. We wanted the car that night but it was not quite ready to go. Matt let us drive it home on the condition that we would come back in to get it detailed. When we showed up they took us right away. We didnt have to wait too long before getting back in to a gorgeous shiny car. Matt even threw in a VW water bottle because my wife had joked about getting one after seeing it in the service center. We ended up leasing the car and we are thrilled with that option because it means we will get to work with Matt again when its time to get a new car.
