Great local one-stop-shop for eye exams, glasses and repairs. Been a customer for 7+years and they are great at all aspects from scheduling, quality of care, fitting and adjusting of specs.

Dr Johnson did a very thorough exam on my eyes and my daughters. We have a family history of glaucoma and he made sure to check our eye pressure carefully. I am also very particular about having super crisp vision. He nailed my prescription and gave me several options on my contact choices for near and farsighted. The front desk is very friendly and helpful as well. My family and I will be patients for life.

Dr. Ben-Moshe is an excellent optometrist. He is very knowledgeable, professional, courteous and helpful. My family has been using him for many years. We live in North County but its definitely worth the trip. Yesterday, I went in just for new glasses and Freddie was very helpful and super patient with me - I probably tried on every frame in the store! Would give the highest recommendation.

Newport Optometry is such a great local family Dr. I’ve been going here for years and have such a pleasant experience anytime I visit or speak with someone. I moved here not knowing a good optamtrist and went to one that was okay then I was recommended Newport Optometry and I love it! They are priced very fairly which is great since I dont have eye insurance, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and I never felt pressured at all during my appointment. When I got my new pair Arturo helped me out and he was very nice and informative but not overbearing whatsoever. I definitely recommend this place 10/10!

Fantastic !!! Couldn’t get an appointment with my Optometrist for 6 weeks(!) so called around and found Newport Ave Optometry. They gave me a next day appointment, completed eye exam, tested for glaucoma AND upgraded my prescription including making my new glasses within 60 minutes. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Dr. Hagan was very thorough with the eye exam. He answered my questions with great explanation. Sydney was a great help when choosing glasses. They were ordered on a Saturday and were ready on a Monday!

I switched to Newport Ave. Optometry last year when I moved to OB. I was with my previous eye doc for over 25 years. The service I have gotten here is top notch. I ordered some prescription sunglasses and they just didnt seem to work well. The staff at Newport has patiently worked with me to get the sunglasses right, even thought it required 2 follow up visits and sending my lenses back twice.Cannot say enough good things about this place.

I give this optometrist office 1 star for poor business tactics. My wife and I called prior to scheduling our appointment for glasses and exam to make sure that our insurance was accepted here, we were told that it was, and there would be no out of pocket as long as our frames did not go over a certain amount ($150 each) So we went ahead and scheduled. When we arrived we were then told that there was no way our insurance was approved here and that we would have to pay for the entire visit, frames, and lenses out of pocket. I believe they told us this to get us in the door and hope we were so committed that we would just pay for it. I hope nobody else has to experience this embarrassment and waste of time.

My first appointment was great! The doctor listened to my concerns as educated me about what I needed. The techs that assisted me with picking out frames, lenses and options were very knowledgeable and also educated me and welcomed questions. Great customer service!

The eye doctor, Dr. Johnson, was thorough, friendly, and so knowledgeable. I really appreciated that he offered me a test to see if I have an eye condition and it turns out I have the beginning stages of it but I’m not too concerned because he told me what I needed to do to minimize it. Knowledge is power and they will give expert information at Newport Optometry. I also love my new glasses. They had so many frames to choose from and they got them ready for me in only half an hour—total same day service—and the price was reasonable.

I have to believe that half the reviews here are overstated. This is a very small place. Very very busy. My glasses took one month to come in. Facts. As far as personnel, doctor was professional but personnel not sure. Deanna was rude to me and raised her voice after I asked her if she could adjust my glasses. I asked to worked with someone else and Arturo was great. Overall, not a great but only average experience for me. I would not necessarily recommend this place.

I have gotten my glasses there before (years ago) and had no issues so I have given a wide cushion because of Covid. I will say that the doctor, as well as the two gentlemen that helped me pick out my glasses were great. I felt very helped; their suggestions were spot on and I don’t enjoy shopping so it was awesome to be able to find ones I liked so quickly. Ok now the issues. First I tried to set an appointment online as they stated they preferred, but for some reason it kept saying I didn’t exist in their system, I tried a couple times in case it was me. I figured lots of things can go wrong there so I did the texting next, as they ask you on the website. I didn’t hear anything back so like three/four days later I called. The girl asked me if I could hold and I said yes. Then I sat there for over 6 minutes before finally hanging up. The next day I called back. I told the person who answered that I had tried these other things and that my glasses have been broken so I’d like to get this appointment sorted. She asked me and looked up the text and then told me that they received it but they didn’t text me back because I had “opted out” of texting. Now, come on. For one I don’t know why I would because I allow texts from all of my other doctor type stuff, BUT even if I had, wouldn’t a text saying that I am a returning client who has broken glasses and is already having problems with online would be enough to imagine I was now opting back in to texts? She basically doesn’t apologize for any of the issues but deflects it back as if I am responsible, even though I told her about online as well as being put on hold until I hung up. Ok anyway. I get the appointment, go in, great experience all the way until at the very end the Internet goes down. Not a problem, everything is picked out, exam is done etc. I say just let me know and I’ll come pick them up the next or whenever they are ready. It’s been two days with no word, so wanted to check since I still have broken glasses and it’s been over two weeks and a BUNCH of extra energy to get to this point. So I called today, she asked my name dob and checked my phone number before asking me to hold to check on them. Once again I was put on hold and after four and half minutes I hung up, thinking that she would call me back after she figured out what was up and also had time. It had been two and a half hours and no call back. So I get to call AGAIN, which I going to do right now. Wish me luck 🤞🏼

Excellent experience. Had prescription adjusted for glasses. They adjusted frames for me as well replacing the nose pads for more comfort.

Waited past my appointment time but that was acknowledged and totally understandable considering the extra steps needed during the pandemic. The office is scrupulously clean. I have been a client of Newport Avenue Optometry since I moved to San Diego two years ago, and couldn’t be more satisfied. I hold all of my medical teams to an exceptionally high standard, and NAO meets and exceeds it.

Dr. Ben Moshe is just the best! It took months to learn how to use contacts and he stayed with me to find just the perfect lens and prescription. His patience is basically a lifechanger since I’m on a computer all day. Appointments aren’t rushed and the patient’s vision quality is genuinely his priority. Popped in to get new specs! Clean. Clearly marked for social distancing. All the employees were masked, and there was a tray provided for glasses that were tried on so that they could be disinfected, and all of the equipment that was used today was sterilized while I was sitting in the chair. After years of going to Newport Ave, I was thrilled to see that Dr. B and his staff were on the ball with protecting their clients and their employees. Top shelf!

Parking could be a bit of a hassle but its a nice walk to their store if you have to park far. They have a nice and clean office space. Their customer service was excellent. Karren was very professional in assisting me with my appt. Dr. Eli made the eye exam painless and very easy. The associate who helped me (Sarah) with my order was very patient and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place.

Excellent experience I went to get an eye exam and to get a bump I had on my eye lid looked at and the doctor diagnosed it and prescribed me eye drops. They got me into new lenses also under 30 min! Definitely recommend them. Hopefully my eyelid bump goes away soon.

Honestly I was so stinking nervous, literally I think i was shaking cause i had myself so worked up about what might be wrong w/my eyes! But from entering the door, to signing in, to my full exam, an then checking out...It was absolutely amazing!!!I forget the awesome docs name, but he made me feel so much better when he shared that our same age 40’s thing was fairly similar as far as the eyes changing a bit faster than in my prime years. He was so wonderful! Plz let him know how grand he made this nervous wreck feel!Can’t wait to return to pick out my new frames & new shades!!!!

Ive been going to Newport optometry for about 8-9 years now. Absolutely no complaints. They’re always super nice and respectful. If you have a concern about your vision the optometrists not only help you identify the problem but they explain to you what is going on.

We had to come back a week after her new prescription because my daughter wasn’t adjusting well to her new glasses but they still treated us as well as the first time around. Just.... the best staff possible. Such a lovely atmosphere. So much knowledge there without any sales push. They just want you to be able to see and feel freakin awesome about it!!!! But with everything going on, bring a mask. You can try on whatever glasses you want, and have your own tray to put them in to be disinfected before further use. I was able to find a perfect pair of glasses after my eye exam without any pressure whatsoever. Im just so thankful that I found this place.
