The food is just so-so. If the price was reasonable, I would give it a higher score. I did give it 4 stars because the bagels themselves were ok and the interior was nice, but, frankly, the food was 3 or lower stars. I recommend the House of Bagels.

Popular bagel shop housed in an airy, open space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings. The two-story high ceiling central area where customers order and pay features a coffee bar and working stations for bagel making. Its fun to watch their staff at work!I got two bagels for breakfast. The poppy seed bagel with goat cheese (Liwa) has great texture and tastes good but feels skinny, the cheese spread was particularly thin. The ham and cheese bagel, instead of the usual sandwich style, has ham bits in warm, melted cheese inside the bagel. Despite a mediocre look (and even a little burnt on the bottom rim) it is surprisingly delicious.

Bagels are high quality- small and dense compared to the Brooklyn ones I’m used to. Cream cheese & all sandwich ingredients are also top notch- but then you get to the prices and realize it’s a little over the top. $12-$15 for a bagel sandwich? Definitely a splurge, not your everyday bagel & coffee joint.Even a gravlax bagel should top out at $10- oh, San Francisco. Beautiful interior space reminds you where your bagel fortune is going.

Dropped by for the grand opening and all I can say is WOW! This place has all the makings for an SF hit. Understandably there was a 30 minute line but the owners were so friendly and appreciative by handing out free samples. Once inside I was blown away by the amazing space. There were large ovens and a massive chute where freshly hot bagels were ready to sort and serve. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese. The bagel had a nice outer crunch still warm from the wood fire and the inside was so soft and delicious. Although other reviews seemed not to like the texture of the cream cheese, I really enjoyed it and felt that there was a very grassy, fresh from the farm taste to it that was unique. Philly cream cheese no more! I also loved the partnership with Red Bay Coffee in Oakland. There is a Probat roaster on-site and the mocha that I had was top notch. There is plenty of seating in the upstairs mezzanine. I will certainly be back for more!

Bagels are great, but everything else is a lackluster experience. Service has been rude multiple times we’ve visited and the closing hours on their listing do not match their actual times (that or they just decide to close an hour early on Saturdays despite there still being people in line to order). There are other local breakfast options nearby, so I recommend them now to visitors.

My fav new place to be in the city! Let me count the reasons why...1. The bagel sandwiches and bagel dogs are to die for. The Gravlax is a not-to-miss. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!2. That cultured butter. Is it bad that Ive bought 3 packages since the place opened?? I never knew butter could taste so rich with flavor and freshness!3. The vibe is cool, hip, relaxing, and the decor calls out to my Instagram trigger finger. I love meeting friends there, and their game nights are SO FUN.4. Talk about supporting local - it makes me feel good to spend money in here, where they get ingredients from their own (and other local) farms, culture their butter on site, bake their bagels in the wood fired oven as you watch, and hire local staff. Spending money in a place that lives my values. Check!

Daily Driver was recommended to me by my friend that lives in San Francisco. We went in the morning and had no long lines to wait in. The atmosphere is energetic and colorful. Our order was taken promptly and while we waited we were asked by several other team members if we had been helped yet. Now for the food and drink: Got a salt bagel and nearly choked from the sheer amount of salt on the top. That’s probably my fault for ordering a salt bagel, but the other options were limited. I also ordered an iced chai and received a very watered down drink that only disappointed. Given that there is a bagel shop pretty much every square mile in the Bay Area, I’d be inclined to keep looking for somewhere that suits me a little better. That being said, my friend loves this place and visits frequently. Go yourself and decide how you feel.

Rating is based pretty much entirely on bagel quality, which I assume would’ve been better in the morning.Got a gravlax sandwich on a garlic bagel. Great flavors, including the bagel, but the bagel was a little harder and drier than I like it. That might be because i went at 2:30 (they close at 3:00). I’ll try it again in the morning, but for the price, I expect a great bagel, morning or afternoon ($16 for gravlax sandwich, $4.50 for just a bagel w/ plain cream cheese).Cool, big, open space with lots of seating & natural light. Haven’t tried the coffee, but they have very nice espresso grinders (peak).

I stopped by at 11am on a Sunday to pick up some bagels to bring home due to all of the hype. I was disappointed that they were out of poppy seed already, so I got sesame and plain. The sesame bagels hardly had any sesame seeds on them (and were almost indistinguishable from the plain). The bagels themselves are a little bready -- no malt flavor and they verge on tough rather than chewy. I wouldnt get these bagels again. Weve been doing the rounds trying all the new bagel shops and pop-ups, and so far these are the bottom of the barrel. (Our favorite thus far have been Schloks -- fluffier, excellent malt flavor, and good chew; rather than tough like these were). As a side note, I was disappointed to see that the cashier removes his mask to yell out names while customers are standing immediately in front of him.

Im a fan of the bagels from the daily driver to the point where I start looking forward to my Tuesday bagel on Sunday so imagine my shock and dismay when I opened my bagel to find that the cream cheese I paid $1.50 for was 1mm thick and barely visible, a stark contrast to the usual good 1/2 inch of spread. I was still hungry after my bagel, which was probably due to the sheer volume of food I lost from having 1/2 inch of spread reduced to 1mm. Sad and disappointed.

Just got a B.E.C. (bacon, egg, cheese) bagel. It was phenomenal. Daily driver makes some of the best bagels in San Francisco. Thats not a hard bar to reach, as SF bagels are dreadful when compared to NY bagels, however these are truly great.Unfortunately, I ordered both the BEC, and another bagel toasted with butter. The toasted with butter had clearly been made first, as it was nearly cold when I received it. The comparison between the two bagels was night and day. The toasted with butter, nearly cold bagel is only worth one star. I definitely wont order it again.Great bagels, but this was definitely a partial fail on execution. Too bad. I had high hopes.

I had the everything bagel with cream cheese and it was a little disappointing. The bagels are on the smaller side and they were very minimalistic with the cream cheese. A good bagel for me has a noticeable contrast between a crispy exterior and a chewy (almost bouncy) inner dough texture. This bagel didn’t have a crispy crust and was instead light, airy, and a little dry throughout. I was really excited for this place to open as SF has a dearth of good bagels but this is definitely a middle of the pack bagel. On the plus side, the space is really lovely and it does seem like they are still adjusting their recipes and quality control so hopefully things will improve.

I work in the neighborhood and was recommended to check this place out by a few customers. I was really excited to try it out. I walked in 30 mins before closing, luckily there wasnt a line. There was one person on one register and two people talking in front of the other one. I know they saw me walk in, they didnt say hi, even as I waited in front of them. Ordered the lox on everything bagel. It was okay. Yes, it was expensive, I guess they pay everyone well, which is amazing and I am lucky enough to experience that. I just cant help but think about the product cost vs. profit+tips if they pay them so well, but thats just how I think. Anyway, I like the idea with the sea salt on the bagel, but I didnt like getting crystals of it, it just reminded me of a pretzel. The look and feel of the place is cool, modern, and gives a fresh look to an old idea: the neighborhood bagel shop. That being said, both the food and environment left a bad taste in my mouth. The staff was abrupt, agitated and gave the impression that my business was not appreciated. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for it. The fresh out of the oven bagel, that I was sooooo looking forward to devouring, was SO SALTY I could not continue after my second bite. I am not bagel connoisseur, but I have had my fare share, and I have never had a bagel this salty. Stale, maybe, too salty to the point I could not eat it - never. Maybe some QA on every batch would help.... They just opened so maybe this is part of opening night jitters. Not sure if I will head back, but if I do and they improves I will be glad to change the review! Note: My wife had hers and it was also too salty, and it was chewy. I asked they to toast hers, and they said they dont toast them since they are fresh out the oven.... Well hers was NEITHER TOASTED NOR FRESH out of the oven then - so.... :-/
