Quaint, friendly, delicious and affordableCame here for breakfast on a weekday (~9am). The staff, which I believe is the owner, was very nice. We got the sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant along with a couple lattes and a donut. They all tasted great. He got our special requests right and marked them on the sandwiches. Would get breakfast here again next time Im in the area.

We were on vacation in San Francisco (live in LA area) and wanted something quick to eat. Stopped by this place and LOVED IT! I ordered the breakfast bagel and my wife ordered the cold cut bagel. We couldnt of been more pleased with our choices. Thank you for the hospitality we will definitely be back when in San Fran!

Quick and friendly service and great bagels, especially for the price.

Authentic genuine, vintage, tough crust, soft and chewy flavorful inside,with all kinds of flavors and coatings beyond just the usual and expected,without silly additives like mono/di glycerides......very nice ownersthat work the store, a REAL Mom and Pop.......the place isnt fancy,the center its located in is a TRAGEDY, but dont let that keep you away from these REAL BAGELS.......New Yorks got nothin on these folks!!BTW.....price for just pickin up bagels fer breakfast VERY reasonable,compared to all competitors I could find.......and these others arent servin up the REAL stuff......just pretenders!! Waydago STAR!!!........and Team Lee!!!

Friendly owner and the interior is the exact kind of vibe I’d want from a bagel place.the types of people writing poor reviews for Star Bagels are the types of people who are more than happy to drop $30 on brunch at some cutesy spot somewhere further up polk st.

My brother and I had breakfast in Star Bagels almost every morning during our stay in San Francisco. Its bagels are good and cheap, and theres a good variety on the menu. The man behind the counter is a nice guy, friendly and helpful. The only letdown was the decor or the lack of it... its probably not the owners main concern. Nonetheless, I went in for good value food and thats what I got.

We were on a trip and stopped at that place for breakfast. They have super fresh and tasty croissants and bagels with different kinds of ingredients. You can basically find whatever you want for the breakfast. Also the server guy is very positive and smiling all the time. Well deserved 5 star.

Best baon egg cheese croissant ever!!!

The food was pretty crummy but the service was a million times worse! The woman behind the counter was so rude to me that I finally asked her if I had done something to upset her. We ended up agreeing that it would be best if I never come back. I have absolutely no idea what I did, but I have absolutely no problem with never setting foot in that place ever again.

Understaffed, bagel under toasted, not really hot by the time it got to me. Has the potential to be good but 1 person isn’t enough to support 6 customers with complicated bagel orders without some of the bagels losing their toaster heat prior to cream cheese application thus compromising the cream cheese melt quality that comes with a hot bagel. I don’t intend to go again. This place is better than bagelry down the street but they are both pretty weak overall.

The bagel sandwich with egg, cheese, and ham was absolutely delicious. Well priced, to at about $5. Owner was friendly and provided a great experience. Would definitely go back.

Great bagels! Honestly the closest thing to a NY bagel in SF....but the cleanliness of this place is questionable at best. Been here multiple times and have always been served by the rude lady. She NEVER wears gloves, washes counters with dirty rags and then uses the same hands to prepare bagels. Disgusting. Today I saw a pigeon flying around in the kitchen. I cant continue getting bagels here if their hygiene standards do not improve.

Str8 up BOMB. BEST I mean #1 cinnamon rolls in S.F. They melt a huge amount of frosting on them when you order them and they are cheap!!! Plus the bagels are fresh every morning, Breakfast Bagels w/cheese & sausage/bacon are sooooo bomb as well and way cheap for the city. Basically if you like bagels/cinnamon rolls you will like Star Bagel. If you dont like it here youre probably too good for S.F. & should move back home.

Unassuming is right. Hard to beat the prices. The Chinese lady at the counter is taciturn but very sweet. When I tip, she gives me extras.

Normally theyre fine. this morning they sent me home with a cold bagel. never would have occurred to me I would need to request it be toasted. lady smiled like acid, Im regretting I tipped her.

Great bagels and flavored cream cheese. Staff are okay, but make sure they get your order correct. Veggie cream cheese is the best.

Quick Service, apparently I had just missed the morning rush I arrived at 8:30. Owner suggested I get everything bagel with cheese and egg. Make sure you ask if you want the bagel toasted, if not youll get its cold.

Star is definitely not for the San Francisco Fancy Set, but it is a solid breakfast at a reasonable price. I recommend their everything bagel (toasted) sandwich with egg, cheese and sausage.

This place is ok. A bit of a hole in the wall. Good spot for people watching by the windows. Got there at 11:30...and mosy of the bagels were gone...had to settle for a sesame seed bagel, which was pretty good actually. Price readout on the cash register was broken. Lady at the counter was nice though.
