I was amazed at the variety of taffy but what truly made me smile with nostalgia was the flake bar. Reminds me of my time in England. Would of been 5 stars. With that said my 2 stars was from my expired flake bars and me back home 300 miles away. Buyer make sure to check the dates so your not out your money. Shame on you candy barron employees. Follow customers around but not look at your own wares.
My wife and I were like children in the candy store! We spent 15 minutes in this store reminisce back to when we were kids. This store is amazing...its a candy supermarket! This place has a wide variety of candies and chocolate bars. If you cannot find a specific type of candy you may be able to find it here. The taffy are delicious! This store is highly recommended if you go to Pier 39 in San Francisco. I always come here when Im in San Francisco. Ill be back.
OMG, I have never seen so many and so many types of candies together in whole of my 64 years of life.Dare not to be here if you are diabetic, or do so @your own risk and your wife’s tongue-lash 😒Mouth watering, tongue twisting and in all hues in spectrum, you will find them here.Wish my grand kids were with me!!
What a fun blast from the past array of merchandise!! I was laughing and showing my boys all the stuff I used to eat as a kid. Of course, they just laughed at me. Ha ha ga
Dont come here if you dont like being monitored the entire time youre shopping! Was ready to purchase some items but then realized she had her eyes locked onto my son in a very discriminatory way, judging from other comments the lady that works the register seems to have a problem with certain customers! We were not the only people in the store but for some reason she felt the need to only be watching my son! Ill be making sure to tell everyone I know to avoid this place, especially if you value being respected as a valuable returning customer!
Very good candies and super funny items. This picture speaks for itself ha!
WOW! A MUST experience if you are visiting San Francisco or want to surprise someone with a thoughtful and unique gift. The owners are so incredibly friendly and exuded warmth right when I walked in. I had a fantastic experience and highly recommend visiting Candy Baron.
Every thing I could ever want
Very uncomfortable experience! The lady at the register kept her eyes obviously glued on my little family as if we were planning on stealing! Not cool if your trying to earn money during a pandemic!
If youre a person of color AVOID coming here! Lady at the register doesnt want your business judging by the way she has no problem letting you know that shes watching you!
Great spot to pick up some delicious salt water taffy. $11/pound, you pick what flavours you want, and they weigh you out once youve picked it yourself from big barrels throughout the store. Lots of other candy (and some retro candy), but it was generally over-priced. Fun to pick and choose the taffy, but is is rather pricey. Delicious though!!!
Go back in time to when there were candy stores with hundreds of jars of candy of every description to tantalize young boys and girls who just received their quarter weekly allowance and must decide what sweets to splurge it on and Candy Baron is that but on a mega level. No you wont find any more penny candy but for $5.95 for a half pound relive your childhood sweet tooth fantasies. There are candies of so many flavors that I wont even try to list them although the salt water Taffy varieties filled my basket with unusual flavors such as lemon cheesecake and mango pineapple which were so good.
Good store they have german chocolate Milka, and they have Toblerone
This place has all kinds of candy. Candy thats easy to find. Candy thats impossible to find. And then theres candy that just isnt made anymore. My secret guilty pleasure are Mars bars. Theyre impossible to find. This place has them. That and a proverbial buffet of salt water taffy. Its absolutely incredible. So MUCH TAFFY. They charge by the pound for taffy and dont have any scales handy for customer use. Genius. Because youll probably end up walking out with 20 pounds worth of taffy and a giant hole in your pocket where your wallet used to be.
All kinds of gummy candy!! They even let you sample them. They have packaged goodies and you can create your own mix.
This place is a go to for my family. Every time we are in SF I get a pound of taffy. Lots of flavors and they are all good! The cashiers have always been nice as well. Great place to check out on the pier
I bought soooooo much taffy! I love the buttered popcorn and chicken and waffle flavors! Its great to give taffy as a gift! There is a lot of what we seniors remember as penny candy! Like chicken bones, squirrels, black jack taffy, may Janes, etc! And other gifts and toys!
Great place to take some sweets home as gifts for loved ones. We filled our basket with all sorts of taffy. The lady owner encouraged sample trying! Very friendly. Spent a bit much not realizing how heavy the basket got. But they must have a big rent roll considering the beach front location. If youre in the area check it out! Cash only.
The king of candy. Went in to just look and spent money instead beware. Every kind of candy you can think of Stuff from other countries. Prices arent bad.it does stay crowded. Its always fun to watch adults and kids around candy, how similar they become. The store is at the back of the pier. Right outside a great view of Alcatraz.
Their salt water Taffy is delicious but be careful not to go overboard. There are no prices posted anywhere and when I got to the counter to pay I expected to pay about $20-25.00 but it was $47.00 instead! It was a little bit of a shock. I will definitely ask the price next time before I start filling my basket.
These are the sorts of shops that will probably not last much longer as the generations who recognize the old brands and obscure retro candy that makes up a lot of their store. As long as the world appreciates salt water taffy and overpriced novelties they may be around longer. Not a bad spot, just the same sort of touristy, expensive candy store that exists in every city around the country.
Being a candy expert myself, I was amazed when I saw the selection of candy. They have exotic candy and classic candy. They have a odd assortment of candy with a huge collection of taffy. From chicken waffle taffy to watermelon the choices are endless. The chocolate selection is also huge. They have huge Twix eggs and classic milky way bars. The selection varies for all ages. With smarties and butterscotch this candy store is an adventure!
If you have a sweet tooth, youll love this place. Theres a huge selection of just about any candy you could imagine, even international brands that can be difficult to find. Plenty of English and German chocolates, all kinds of saltwater taffy, and even a cool selection of Harry Potter candies.
Super cute boutique with a nice array of products! I loved the TCM Boutique pop-up there during the TCM Film Festival. The merchandise here (aside from the TCM items) is really interesting and the array of candy is fun to see, as well. Cute store!
Best salt water taffy in the bay. Great place to take visiting guests as well
The cinnamon bun was my favourite! So many cool choices
On the edge of Pier 39. Great selection of salt water taffy. Alot of other candy to select from If you are not into salt water taffy.
Lot to choose from if you like candy they have Carmel apples salt water tafy and all the pez and gummy candies you can think of love it here
If youre looking for strange variations of the candy you grew up with, this is the place for you! They have everything from the worlds largest Gummi Bear (singular) to the most expansive collection of saltwater taffy Ive ever seen. A cautionary note: if you get the Gummi Bear, do NOT eat it all at once! Trust me on that.
This shop brought me back to my childhoods dreams. Any kid will love this place. Great for candy gifts for kids (or adults with a sweet tooth for nostalgia). Loads of variety.
My girlfriend went into there while I enjoyed an incredibly entertaining juggling/balancing/comedy act outside.(To which I give 5 stars, btw, as the street act was incredible)So she purchased about 3 pounds of assorted taffy which turns out to be extremely gooey and sticking all over, almost like its melting. Very annoying, and no way can we gift it to anyone as planned. I have been a fan of salt water taffy for well over 50 years now, and this stuff they sold to us is not done correctly. So sad. I hate to think that this is the reason that they dont allow samples. I dont mind paying 12.00 a pound for good taffy, but this stuff is in bad shape. If you love good salt water taffy,THEN AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.
Cute candy store- very nice staff- wasnt that blown away by the selection, would have like to see more variety in type and even some local favorites/old school candy.
If you like sweets and chocalates, its a must see. The choices are endless. Im sure its where the phrase kid in sweet shop came from. Sweets galore
I have to side with the other parents. Taking children in this place is like showing them heaven on earth! lol Great selection and if you have a sweet tooth, BEWARE!!! Loved it!
If youre looking for good quality salt water taffy and old school candy that you thought didnt exist anymore, this is the place to go. Its all the way at the end of the boardwalk but worth the walk. Love the fact that youre able to pick what type of candy you want, the flavors you like and how much of it you want. Put what you want in a bucket and pay per pound.
A normal candy shop with good collection.
This is my favorite place... yummy
A huge selection of any kind of candy you can think of. Even kinds we thought were long gone! And youve gotta try some of the zany salt water taffy flavors!
They dont have as much selection as SweetDish it seems, but the employees are much nicer. The parking in this area is horrible, so watch out.
Nice candy shop, almost identical to the other one down the street.
Great selection, but high prices. Still a fun place to browse around in.
Its like literally any other candy store but:A. Not as nice.B. Covered in SF touristy merchandise.C. Extremely overpriced.D. Crowded with both people and candy (you basically walk in one big ever-moving line).Id have to be going crazy to spend literally 4x for anything there.
Very nice and nice people too! Wheelchair access. Thanks!
This place has every type of candy you can imagine, even those hard to find old school candies from your youth.
Another good candy store right next door to the fudge, more of a younger persons sweet shop with lots of colour and smells worth a stroll through.
If you have a sweet tooth in pier 39 great spot for a fix
This place is a magical Wonderland that can get a little bit confusing if you look down for too long. The candy Baron has a bunch of barrels filled with mostly salt water taffy but other candies as well. It has a somewhat circular motion with one large motion being for the majority of the salt water taffy and a sort of smaller motion being at the front with some random candy like Pez and Snickers. I recommend starting at the smaller area as it is right by the door and wont get you trapped into the large emotions that also leads into the line to check out. Theres always a lot of people in this store so try to stay patient and keep a level head. Kids are going to run in front of you and possibly even grab things as your basket but once you snap them out of it theyll be okay. If anything I would recommend trying at least one of every single piece of candy. The last time I did that it came up to about $7 but its worth it
Great nostalgic feeling as you walk around the store. The prices however, are a constant reminder that its not the 80s anymore.$2.99 for a RockyRoad is pretty ridiculous!
Best taffy ever. The buttery popcorn ones are to die for.
Little bit of everything for your sweet tooth
Extremely overpriced. Small items have a huge markup ... be ready for sticker shock when your kid brings a basket to the register.
Has so many unique candies from way back!
Grab a basket when you first get there, add what you desire, pay by the pound. I believe it was $5/pound. Awesome variety of salt water taffy.
It has all the classics and new items. You can buy by the pound or in packages. Some novelty items and super sized candy you might not find anywhere else. Diabetics stay away!!!
Got some sugar free candy.
This place definitely has plenty of candy and variety. But slightly expensive (as expected in this touristy location). Tons of salt water taffy though! Someone purchased 20+ pounds of it and it came to just under $70. Thats a lot of taffy!
I loved all this store has to offer from a succulent sour treat to mounds of chocolate buttery and sweet. As I ventured further into the candy abyss I double took at what seemed to be two cases of each of the same treat, but alas!!! The 2nd variant was the C6H12O6 free version thAts almost carb free! Overjoyed as I was, I purchased sugar free licorice, sour patch kids and reces cups.I got home and immediately consumed all three bags and enjoyed every last piece as they tasted almost the same as their glucose counterparts. I only came to regret my decision about 2-3 hours after ingestion. What began as a cramping pain near my ribs crept down my intestinal track. I could feel every inch of my organs twisting as the sugar free mass migrated all the way down to my unsuspecting back door. An ereuption of gas, liquid, madness and self respect poured out of my rectum into the porcelain throne. This continued for 5 hours almost every 45minutes until I was left with nothingness. I would highly suggest visiting this place but if you indulge in sugar free candy, make sure you have a free schedual for the next 7 hours and a low need for sleep.
I love because they sale old.hersey bars and marry Janes because for me and my brother marry Janes are a joke to us because not that many people like them
Most of the candy is not worth the price its being sold at here, but it is nice to walk around and see different sweets.
Crazy expensive candy with rude workers. The candy in this story is 4X what you can get elsewhere.
Shop keeper is rude!
Great selection of candy and taffy. Spent a lot of time looking at all their items.
Gotany candies but non were good
Its a really yummy and clean Candy shop
The have Flake bars here!!!!❤ Also other hard-to-find bars.
This place is dangerous if you have children or a sweet tooth. You grab a bucket and start filling and filling and filling. Then you pay by the weight. On the upside, they have salt water taffy!
Loved it! Creative yummy flavors!
My grandkids. Favorite place
If you like candy this is your spot. Theyve just about got it all.
Pretty good selection for salt water taffy. Kind of over priced.
The best candy ever
Good selection of candies, and lots of saltwater taffy.
Lots of fun stuff but way overpriced!
All the salt water taffy and candy you could imagine
The truffles were terrible. Hard and gross. I was so sad and disappointed.
Good variety of candy, come
Thieves!!

Lots of cavities to be had! Lol
Great selection price $$
Great collection of candies and lollypops :D
Really expensive but a big selection for young and those too old to be into sweets still!
All kinds of candy! Even candy bras and thongs if youre into that sort of stuff...
I spect warmed food but was cold bad services

Their staff could work on being friendly
