My family and I have been going to Walter for decades -- hes seen me through nearly 2 decades of repairs and services with my 1983 Mercedes Turbo Diesel, and most recently, with the replacement of my Priuss stolen catalytic converter. Hes also seen my folks through the lifespans of 2 Volvos and 2 Mercedes. The guys that work there are top notch, and I appreciate the time they take to walk me me through each process (I have no clue about cars or mechanics), carefully explaining what exactly it is that they will be doing. I do not EVER feel as if I am being upsold or taken advantage of! The turnaround time has been spot-on, and the cost of repairs are always consistently on par with -- or better than -- other well-known, quality mechanics in the area. I cannot speak highly enough of Walter Harding and his shop, and I HIGHLY recommend!

This place came highly recommended to me, and that recommendation was very well deserved. Took my car in to get looked at when the engine kept overheating. Walter (friendly shop owner) took the time to explain how my cars head gasket was blown and estimated the cost at 3k. Then we went into his office where he showed me where i could try going into a car buyback program and get myself another car altogether.will definitely come back once i find a new car

I am staying in San Jose temporarily, and I needed my car repaired in a hurry. Thank Google I found this place. They checked the engine, went over it with me, and changed the parts that needed changing. It took precisely as long as they said it would. There was no nonsense, and there was no nonsense about the clutch needing replacement. I know the clutch will need to be done in a few years, but it is one of those things other mechanics have mentioned and it is like they are just waiting for that $5,000 job. Not these guys. I am so glad I found this place.

When I first contacted Walter at Harding Auto Repair I expected that my appointment would be scheduled within a week or so. Instead, I was asked to bring my car in the next morning for the full days repair work. When I showed up the place was packed with cars and I wondered if, in fact, the extensive work on my car would be completed that day. Yes it was. Harding team did a very good maintenance on my car. I came for an oil change and a wheel balance but they ran a battery of checks and found out a couple of issues that needed to be fixed as well. I am convinced that they just did what needed to be done and not more.The car now runs just fine.

A bit unrealistic to assume, perhaps, but if every independent auto shop operated like Walter Harding, the maintenance department of new car dealership would be out of business soon. When you combine fair prices with high quality work the customers will always come back to you. Walter learned that a long time ago.He and his superb crew have been taking care of my cars for the past 30+ years and I have always been very satisfied with the results. The only problem you might run into is scheduling the work to be done since Walters customers come back regularly and the shop is not exactly the largest one in town...and there is a limit to the number of hours in the day.I recommend Walter Harding without any reservation whatsoever!

Walter has a nice shop. I could tell he had the experience I was looking for to get some work done on my 1988 535i. The work was done well and in a timely manner and Mr. Harding was a gentleman to work with. The next projects or repairs I have on my old e28 will land at Harding Auto!

If youre in the Southbay, you need to be familiar with Walters shop. He is realistic and will work with you to find the best solution to your car problem.He even loaned me his personal car to go pick up some parts I found at a better price!Dont go to the dealer, go see Water in San Jose instead.

A friend recommended walter to me after id had trouble with other repair shops. they do a great job here. they are thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly. walter always tries to find me a deal on parts, and gives me little discounts when he can. he also gives me a loaner while my car is in the shop, something ive never gotten from another repair place. he explains everything that is being done, and why. i highly recommend walter and his great team!
