Owner’s business model is Short Term Profit. Customer comes LAST. All items do not have visible prices, you may end up paying more money depending upon who you are. Abby, and owner’s wife are good, understands customer relation. Store is good for last resort. Hope they change reading this review. It will do them good.

Everything is over priced in this store compare to any other indian store in bay area. For e.g. one 10lb ashirwad wheat bag they charge $10, in other store it is $6... none of the vegetables are fresh. I seen some date expired items too in shelves. I just ran out of the store without buying anything by seeing their quality and price. I wish they read this and change themselves..TILL THEN ZERO STAR FROM ME.

They recently renovated. You can find most Indian cooking ingredients and spices here. The problem is the items dont have price tag on them. 😁

Small grocery store but pack almost everything that you will need. Quick stop to find everything you need. Great customer service and most importantly they have freshly made parantha .. yummy... We tried dokhla, samosa, roti, parantha and loved it all. Just discovered this place and I love to support mom and pop shops . Regular customer from now on...

Two visits and Ive not been impressed in the least. The people who work there, esp behind the register, could be a lot more courteous. They inflate their prices on select items and its not until you get home that you realize it. Bought locally made snacks that seemed past its expiry. Overall, great place to avoid unless youre desperate.

Our go to place for Indian spices. Has locally produced goods, but they dont list the specific oil used in them and the staff dont know it either (hence a star ding). Otherwise a great place.

Review №22

Good local shop for Indian groceries with a friendly staff. Veggies are fresher than other nearby stores. One star missing only because they often do not carry a broader variety of items some of which are staple Indian groceries.. just a matter of size I guess but still.. The popular items should not be missing

I went to get some spices. Their was no price tag on the packet. They make their own prices. When I brought the spices home, it was already expired. They are selling expired products. There are better stores in the area where prices are competitive and groceries are more fresh.

Review №29

Its smallish and haphazard --far less complete a shop than the areas larger Indian supermarkets-- but with hot dosas by the door and stuff crammed in every corner it calls nothing to mind so much as a New York City bodega. Indian staples, but if you have a big or detailed list you might be better off at one of the bigger western-style supermarkets.

Review №34

Its a small store with a decent selection of Indian staples including a selection of brands of rice, pickles, ready-to-eat meals and snacks. You will find most things you need for mainstream Indian cooking, but you wont find regional specialties or anything obscure here, or as many varieties or brands. There is a small selection of fresh refrigerated foods and packaged sweets from local manufacturers. There are a few freezers of packets of frozen vegetables, meals and breads. There is a small selection of fresh produce.Prices are convenience-store rates (higher than a grocery store) but not severely out of line with some of the larger Indian markets and it is nice to have something in south San Jose to avoid having to drive far when you just need rice or curry leaves. The staff are polite and will help if you ask for it and they know their inventory well if you cant find what youre looking for. They are not pushy about things either. If we just need a few things, this is usually where we go. If were doing a larger trip, I try to go to one of the larger stores in Sunnyvale in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week, to avoid the crowds.

Ive been coming to the Desi India Bazaar for 2 years and they have always been very helpful and friendly. The store has everything I need for our Indian meals and has most ingredients even for our non-Indian meals. It is clean, and the shelves are well organized, and best of all, it is never crowded, enabling both leisurely shopping and rapid checkout. I especially love the pre-chopped vegetables that make cooking a breeze.

This store is a lot more expensive than any other Indian grocery store around. The prices listed on the price list besides the veggie counter are not updated. For eg. Thai green chilies were for 4.99 per lb whereas the list said 3.49. It was only by chance that I found this out as it was the one time I was actually looking for the rate on my bill - mostly I dont bother to check. The store is clean and the owners/ staff are nice.

Little costlier than other Indian stores because of the location and as there is no other store in the vicinity. Most of the desi items are available. Do look for expiry on items before taking them. As this is a small store, sometimes stock doesnt sell out easily. We had to return rotten jaggery recently but found out the other one which we took also started rotting. Jelebi, samosa, chapati, dhokla are made once per day.
