For being a coffee shop, the employees have no energy and seemed so bothered. No greeting hello, alright whatever. Doesn’t lmk what my total is. Alright whatever. Get my order. Lemon thyme tea tastes like brisk iced tea on ice. But still good, hence the 2 stars. Lavender latte with oat milk had no lavender in it whatsoever. I wish I would have tried my drinks before driving off but I figured since I paid for a lavender latte that is what I was going to get.
They serve all kinds of coffee. It smells so good... and tastes pretty good too! I got a black cold brew to enjoy on a walk at nearby palisades park.
A lot of options for coffee here all high quality. I highly recommend the kyoto coffee. Staff really nice and quick.
Delicious coffee and baked goods! Lovely outdoor seating in the shade.
Independent small coffee chain makes a mean brew. I really love their iced latte. Very friendly staff and great snacks. Their special cold brew is literally rocket fuel.
I come here for the coffee, not for the ambiance. They have a small amount of seating inside and a few tables outside. The music is always loud so perhaps not a great place to work if that bugs you. I usually come here when it’s warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Coffee is excellent. Service is ok- reasonably paced but not especially friendly- every time I’ve been in the employees are complaining or loudly huffing. Oh well- coffee is good and available for takeout so I’d still come back.
They do it right! I’m a coffee snob and for me to say their beans are roasted right, their flavors are great and cup sizes are perfect - takes a lot. The barista tapped and drew the espresso correctly and steamed the milk in my mocha right. Only wish they were open late. An authentic artisan coffee shop.
The best coffee I tried in santa Monica and amazing barista
Always good time getting bougie coffee one block off the main strip. Tastes great too!! My go to local coffee shop when Im in the Promenade
Very solid and reasonably priced espresso.
This deliciously rustic cheddar chicken sub is truly a meal and this my second time ordering this in two weeks. I was cautious in thinking the amazing array of flavor was a one time wonder....Im humbled these subs were wrapped like that, tasty like that and will make you happy like that! If you miss out....dont say that you didnt know....because you do!
Always good coffee and tea here. The only that changes is the people that work here
Fun little coffee shop in Santa Monica. They have a super cool Kyoto style drip coffee that is amazing, and some great pastries too! Enjoy them all!
Chai tea latte and kyoto iced drip coffee were both very good. outdoor socially distanced tables available currently. also they had cool plants and pastries!!
5 stars all the way for this coffee shop! Constantly a great place to hang out, alone or with friends. I would definitely recommend and refer your services to everyone without any hesitation. I am truly impressed by how they handled their many customers politely with no hassles at all. A cool music selection and delicious foods.
Great coffee/espresso drinks. Pastries from Sugar Bloom Bakery are awesome as well.
Demitasse is a cozy little gourmet coffee shop with knowledgeable baristas. They have the normal coffee preparations and espresso drinks, but also excel in some more interesting and creative coffee drinks. The cold brew coffee is very good and they also have a very rich and delicious hot chocolate. I prefer the location in Little Tokyo, but the Santa Monica location is still great.
I had the medium roast drip coffee. It was excellent really enjoyed it. Plus the service was very neighborhoodly
The staff is very personable and well informed. My beverage was fine but not exceptional. The outdoor seating is very pleasant.
Great cold brew coffee
Great tasting coffees and teas. Must goto place in Monica
Great coffee and friendly baristas.
I discovered Demmitasse about 2 years ago and was super excited to have a new, local, little mom and pop feel, adorable coffee house to visit as a new regular. My first impression was lovely, my coffee was fabulous and the foam was tiny micro perfect foam, I quickly became a regular and brought as many people there as I could...I was so happy about it. However as time goes by, I have become more and more disappointed with not only my interactions with the employees but also my very simple basic latte. As many times as I have been there, as many friends and family members I have turned on to Demitasse, I would think by now, they would; at minimum remember my name, or my face or even just my drink considering I get the same thing every time....however when I go in there, its as if they have never seen me before, its shocking to be honest. Keep in mind I worked at a coffee shop for about 10 years and know very well how the coffee/customer service industry works. Now days my lattes seem thoughtless, they are light in weight and extremely overly foamy (not creamy delicious foam), Im just constantly disappointed. I brought my old boss from the coffee shop in there on Saturday morning and he too noticed that the employees almost made it seem as though we were a burden to surve, at this point I am embarrassed that I brought him there. I love the atmosphere and the idea of their concept, it seemed perfect. I hope perhaps one day soon things will come back around to a more friendly, conscious and high quality coffee house that is welcoming and fun to go into. Thanks for taking the time to read this review, I know its a long one.
Another overpriced coffee place. The matcha they used tasted expensive but the baristas wrist game was not up to par. Just get the regular coffee options when you go in there to avoid being disappointed. Its fine, I guess 🥱
Cozy coffeehouse with free WiFi and strong coffee. I come here whenever I need a strong kick in the afternoon. There’s usually no line although there’s a steady stream of people throughout the day. I like the iced minty cubano (~$6) which has a mint leaf garnishing, but no minty flavor. However it’s smooth and great with whole milk (although you can pick from alternatives like almond and oat milk). You can see the barista make your drink and they’ll give it to you in the back of the counter. I also like the liquid lavender hot chocolate during colder days. It’s an extremely thick drinking chocolate (~$7) that hits the spot. It’s the right amount of sweet and bitter with a toasted marshmallow on top. I like to let my marshmallow sit on the top but most people will mix it in for more sweetness. There’s WiFi codes on slips of paper in the back and there’s also a restroom in the back. They use bamboo straws which I think is awesome and they also have good items. The breakfast burrito is very filling and a solid choice. Overall it’s a quaint coffee shop to stop by and get your caffeine fix.
Excellent place for lost French guy without expresso 😉
The best part about this spot is that its just off the beaten path of the beast we know as the Third Street Promenade. Its tucked in next to a public parking lot, which is also convenient. They offer a good selection of coffee, and I would argue that their lattes are the biggest highlight. The temperature, foam and taste have consistently been above par whenever I visited. Pastries are yummy but sell out quickly, so haul it as early as possible if youd like to get a bite!
Delicious hot chocolate. Very rich and sweet. Perfect portion sizes. Would highly recommend!
Good but not amazing coffee. For the price, should be better. Flat white foam was medium quality and the drink much too hot. Friendly cashier, though, and nice baked goods.
I really enjoy Demitasse Cafe, in addition to the quality coffee I love the atmosphere, the beauty of the decor and healthy pastries, and such reminds me of Europe. There is always a line more often than not which is a good sign.
We tried 3 different coffees (strawberry sage, blueberry muffin, spicy dulce de leche) and each one was delicious. Our new favourite coffee shop in SM.
This is a nice coffee shop to get your caffeine fix. The inside is pretty small so seating is hard to find if you go during busy hours. One thing I love here are the options for reusable cups and recyclable containers. +1 for giving an eco-friendly option to the customers.
Its a very cozy place with excellent beverages. The selection of pastries isnt very big unfortunately and there are some pastries that dont taste as good as others. The staff is always smiling and very friendly and outdoor seating is always welcome.
Great Cappuccinos and service!
A solid coffee shop with good quality drinks, but in a city with so many options, it just doesnt stand out much.Demitasse was nice. Its a relatively quiet cafe across the street from the end of the 3rd Street Promenade, and the seating inside looks pretty cozy, with lots of cushions. That is, if youre able to get any seating. Theres only a few tables, and its an extremely small and cramped space, so its difficult to order and wait for drinks, let alone find somewhere to sit.We wanted to come here and try some of their coffee and work on our laptops and study, but there was no seating inside, and the WiFi was terrible. We sat at one of the tables outside for a little bit, but it just wasnt working for us.The mocha was pretty good, nothing amazing though. The treats and snacks here are solid as well, but also nothing amazing. I wouldnt come back twice, I guess is what Im trying to say. They serve good drinks and good food, and cozy seating for those that are able to grab one. Thats about it. In a city full of coffee shops, I expect a lot more. I come to these places with the intention of finding a comfortable place to seat and get some work done while drinking my coffee, and thats just not very feasible here. It gets four stars for providing solid and good quality products, but its nothing more than that, and I dont think I would go back again.
Had one of the brewed coffees of the day. It was a bit sour but was good otherwise. Nice place overall.
Always impresses me how employees can ruin a business. Upon entering we were observing the place only to be rushed to order as if we were loitering, eyes rolling. 3 min ? U need to relax.
Always a must-stop coffee shop when we are in Santa Monica! We come back here time and time again for a perfectly tasting cup of brewed liquid. The flavor of the coffee is absolutely delicious! Try The Minty Cubano for something unique..
Purchased a bag of Costa Rica whole beans. Roast date was about 8 days old on the shelf, but I thought Id give it a try. We drink pour overs and French presses. I see this place all the time in Santa Monica. The coffee was terrible. My wife will pretty much drink any coffee from a gas station and she couldnt drink this. Has anyone had experience with this specific type of beans or was this a one off situation? At $17 for a bag of really bad tasting coffee Im quite disappointed. Can I return this?
I go there for their whole coffee beans. Fabulous beans. Harvest date stamped, region and farm labeled. Small shop, cozy, awesome coffees.
There was a time staff was nice, probably when they first opened. but i went in separate to a friend, and asked someone about coffee info and he was so pretentious i decided to leave. my friend already had coffee... i sat down, she where is your coffee. I just shook my head Ill get one later. I didnt want to ruin her experience... then she said, pretentious as hell in there, and she said she wanted to leave had I not come to meet her. I travel the world, i know good coffee and I know good service... this place has crap wannabe service.
Always good coffee and great bakery. Small and cozy place, but very nice and surprisingly stable in good quality and friendly baristas!
I know coffee and this place has legit quality coffee. Got a $3 Nicaraguan coffee, seating was comfortable, air temp is nice(not humid, not too cold/hot and not overbearing with coffee smell), quality of the coffee was in the same league as Blue Bottle and Intelligencia. Great experience, quality coffee (good flavor, not bitter yet with slight texture on palette) will return.
The coffee at this place was top-notch. The half-sweet mocha was a perfect blend of espresso and chocolate flavors, being flavorful without being sweet.
Got the lavender hot chocolate it is delish... the ham and cheese croissant is great too, just not able to here. I just like hot sandwiches, besides that 5 stars
Nice little neighborhood coffee shop. Mochas are made with dark chocolate. Its really nice. Outdoor seating is nice, but a bit limited. Its a bit expensive for what you get.
One of my favorite espresso shops on the Westside.
Really great coffee, friendly staff, decent amount of indoor seating if you dont mind perching on stools. Sunny seats outside if you can manage to grab one. Lovely selection of coffee and dangerously tasty pastries!
Simply amazing coffee. I recommend trying whatever the special of the day is. The cafe is small but there is nice sunny seating outside on third street that is surprisingly mellow, given where its located. They have a small good selection of pastries and treats to accompany your caffeine.
Stephanie is the best, coffee always tastes great and you wont find a better croissant nearby (even in the french sounding places!). Bit pricey but offset by 10th drink being free so works out fine if youre a local.
Their iced coffees are delicious. Good flavors without the overwhelming bitterness of cold brews. Good selection of pre-made but still tasty pastries. Its just off the promenade so its a bit secluded (whenever I go at least), and I like it that way.
Love love love the craft of their brews and pastries. High quality drinks and cute little patio tucked from the busy street.
Always great coffee, best in the 3rd st area!
Cute place. Very limited selection for milk and non milk options for your drink though. Their lavender hot chocolate is crazy delicious, but it’s more like a melted candy bar. Lol.
Very funky vibe to it
Not cheap and so so coffee..Sunday afternoon no table inside available. Too bad starbuks closed. If coffee was good in would be to happy to pay the price but unfortunately all coffee place are closed permanently so they do not have competition. (:-((.
Kyoto iced coffee is fantastic. Very pleasant service. Will return several times while in the area!
The best coffee u will find in LA, it doesnt get better than this. phenomenal craft and service, the best ingredients served anywhere and pastries divine! what more could i ask for!? baristas are craftsmen and are truly artists in the coffee industry rather than teenagers brewing over roasted stuff at your national chains. ask them anything and basically order anything, they can do it and will make amazing recommendations.
The hot chocolate I had was phenomenal....best Ive ever had. It was thick, creamy with a large dollop of marshmelllow. Memorable and so delicious.
Great coffee! Best i had in Santa Monica. And they have oat milk
They have some good coffee and its not to far from strip
Love their hot chocolate. Its one of the best Ive ever had.
I cant get enough of their espresso based drinks, very distinct and fulfilling flavor. Perfect pulls and foam every time!
Try their Mole Spicy Cappuccino and Five Spice latte.. they are awesome
A tranquil cafe that offers respite and good caffeine from the hustle and bustle of 3rd St. They have the standard drinks as well as barista specials - I had a iced porter latte that blew me away. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and overall a great place for an hour or so of reading / work.
The coffee is delicious and the costumer service is an other 5 stars
Good
Such a wonderful cafe, delicious baked goods and coffee
The guy with the beard is super rude and condescending. I went outside to eat my lunch and make some calls and he acted like I was trespassing, then was rude again when I was waiting to order my second latte.Otherwise good service and probably the highest quality espresso in downtown Santa Monica. I also like that they sell gluten free snacks. But frankly I just dont want to be talked to like that when Im spending $10 on coffee. Ill go elsewhere.
Great coffee selection. Im a big fan of South American roasts and they have plenty to choose from.
Great place - one of my favorite gourmet coffee places in SM - consistently great cappuccinos with delicious pastries
Very good coffee, and their espresso is delicious. Highly recommend their cappuccino. The coffee is good enough to suppress the guilty feelings of class betrayal. The bourgeoisie will be first up against the wall when the revolution comes, but not before this comrade has had a delicious cappuccino al breve from this lovely and reasonably priced establishment.
Amazing smooth lattes and with a friendly smile, what else could you want in your morning?
Love this place. The coffee is great and the signature drinks are wonderful.
This location is friendlier than the Little Tokyo location! I love the iced minty cubano, so refreshing! The cubano is arguably better than Philz! Come here after walking down the Fourth Street Promenade.
One of the best coffee ! Everything was perfect beautiful foam and great taste
Loud and vulgar baristas, tiny tables, and loud music... Didnt enjoy
As many others have mentioned in the reviews, staff can be very pretentious and unfriendly. Not worth it when you have a dozen other options within a 5 minute walk.
Coffee was delicious. Atmosphere was great and very Santa Monica.
Male barista with glasses has an attitude problem, wasnt friendly at all, when I got my coffee at the end I said thank you and he did not respond back. Maybe had a bad morning but still customer service is key, always smile no matter what..... Coffee is great but staff is bad.
I love their Iced Minty Cubano. This is very different from Philz Coffes Mint Mojito Iced Coffee. This one is more like typical iced latte with a bit of mint but somehow is very addicting. You should try! There are usually a lot of crowd around 10am but should be fine after 11am. Then gets crowded again after the lunch time.
One of the meat coffee shops in LA period! Their baristas are very skilled and all of their specialty drinks are great as well as the pastries.
