If I could give this business no stars I would. This man tried to hit me over the head right before the holidays. Trying to force me to buy a brand new transmission not only a new transmission but a top of the line 10k transmission. But all I needed was a part for 700. Which he also tried to charge me 1900 for that 700 dollar part. I would advise anyone with a transmission issue to get a second opinion or go elsewhere before dealing with this guy. This place is highway robbery!!!!! 👎🏻

Richard and his wife were so kind and helpful! They took my vehicle in with no question, and had a diagnosis within a day. Unfortunately, my transmission will fail, but Richard was honest and direct. They suggested I try to find a vehicle without that particular transmission to avoid this issue in the future. Due to the cost, the couple waved my diagnostic fee, which I am so grateful for since I need a new car. The other did have a transmission problem but was still within manufacturer warranty. The shop owner referred me to the dealership for warranty repair. I was not charged either time. On March the 18th my wife and I took our SUV to Coastal Transmission. There I met Richard the owner and explain (what I thought) was the problem. After overlooking our vehicle Richard brought to my attention a leak around the top casing and suggested that this may be the leak that is spilling done to the transmission cover. And recommend that I take it to the dealership to have it look at. And Richard was right. The dealership fixed the problem and it wasnt the transmission seals leaking after all. I was so moved by Richard honesty because he could have easily made money that day. Thank you Richard for being a fair and honest person. My transmission gave out on a trip back home to Florida. I decided to use Coastal after reading positive reviews on-line and saw they were an ATRA member. Coastal was very helpful and was sensitive to my situation having to sit in a hotel waiting for my truck to be repaired. They found my front pump was destroyed and recommended a rebuilt unit - which was the best option both from a time and $ standpoint. I got my truck to them on Monday AM and they had me back on the road heading home by Wednesday evening. Very courteous staff and professional, they showed me the damaged transmission and I agreed replacing was the smarter option. I would use them again and recommend to anyone having transmissions issues in Savannah, GA area.

On 4/08/2020, I took my Nissan Xterra to Coastal Transmission to have them run some diagnostic tests. I thought that my transmission was beginning to slip and read many positive reviews about Coastal Transmission on Google. Richard greeted me as soon as I stepped in the door. He got my information in the computer and began the testing process. After completing the tests, Richard sat down with me and was very transparent about what he believed to be the issue. Richard believed that it wasnt my transmission at all. Instead, he thought it could be a possible engine misfire. He referred me to another reputable mechanic so they could diagnose the problem even further. I feel very confident that he sent me in the right direction so that I could get my car back on the road. I appreciated his honesty and transparency about what he thought could be the problem. This business is the BEST of the BEST!!! It is almost impossible to find a business that does excellent work at a very fair price, however, Coastal Transmission is one of those rare gems that does just that. Richard is extremely honest and runs his business with true integrity. I had them rebuild a transmission on one of vehicles and they did such great work I came back and had them put a new clutch in my other vehicle. This is the one and only transmission shop to take all your vehicles to!!

Absolutely amazing! When I initially called I was greeted warmly, and they sympathized with everything I was going through. And every time I called after (my tow truck was 3.5 hours late), they were so kind! The work was done quickly and well, and when they told me the total they explained the pricing. On the day my husband and I went to pick up my car, they were nothing but kind! They even gave some tips on helping out with some exterior damage I have on my car. Absolutely amazing place, and will definitely be coming back if my car needs more repairs!

Our car had broken down on the side of the highway as we were driving cross country and we were towed to Coastal Transmission. The first thing the owners did was provide cold water for ourselves and our dog, and even allowed our dog to sit in the waiting room. They provided us a free diagnostic on the vehicle and repaired the issue. Their prices are very fair and reasonable. I am very grateful to them for their hospitality and kindness and would certainly recommend them to all prospective patrons.

This is a great, customer friendly and honest service provider for automotive needs. I feel like Ive used them all my life during the time Ive established the relationship in the last 18 months. Richard, the owner, talks with you straightforwardly and gives advice to help you make the best decision. I traded my newer car vs my older truck due to the expensive trans work the car would cost me. The truck finally did start to grind but it cost me $4500 less than the car would. He even gave me extra time to think it over due to the holidays and held it. I am grateful I found him, his family and this shop!

I never been to coastal transmission I really wouldnt know how my experience would be

April 2015 my transmission died on my automatic Honda Civic. Since this is my famiys only car, we were frantically looking for a trustworthy, honest, affordable mechanic to check out/ fix our transmission. After calling a bunch of places in Savannah, I chose to go with Coastal Transmission. I spoke with the manager Richard and his wife who works there Tracey who both took their time to explain everything on the phone (cost, process, etc). Not only was the end cost less than what others priced it out to be, but they warrant their work.

I have been to many transmission shops in Atlanta, as I always keep my cars for high mileage. Had a problem with my 2006 Expedition here in Savannah and Costal Transmission was recommended by a family member. I had the best experience that I ever had with a service shop. I was in a crunch as I had to get my daughter in Charleston, and they did everything possible to get me on the road ASAP. They came in under budget and on time. When possible, I will bring my cars down from Atlanta to have them service my transmissions. I will not use anyone else!

Would rate this place a 0 if i could. Worst customer service Ive ever experienced. Brought my car in being able to drive it and after the diagnostic the completely tore it up. couldnt even drive it anymore so i had no choice but to get the work done there. $900 later and my cars done but theres a crack in the dash and the carpet isnt even installed properly. the side paneling of the inside of the car is completely off showing the wiring and all.. they said they would order the part for free and install it. NEVER ORDERED THE PART. A month later called them about it and they just then ordered it.. seriously who forgets to order a part.. they just didnt wanna deal with it. Also lost one of the screws i had in the cup holder which is a part of the gear shift. (wouldnt replace it so i had to get to LKQ and get one) After several arguments, fights, and just overall UNPROFESSIONAL behavior.. my car is okay. When i went back to get the paneling installed, the panel the broke by the way, they refused to help me.. saying they were short handed when the manager was doing nothing. They couldnt even take a second to tell me how to do it so i could install it myself. After i told them i would come back later, someone came out and fixed it with an attitude. NEVER GO HERE.. you will regret it if it was anything like my experience.

When your car starts having transmission problems, it can be an extremely terrifying experience. Luckily, if you live in the Savannah area, you have Coastal Transmission to call. They are extremely friendly and very honest. They dont try to get one up on you or try to screw you over, like many establishments will. They also work very quickly. Both times Ive been, theyve asked for a three-hour window to look at the vehicle, and both times, theyve had me in and out in an hour, with very solid knowledge of what is going on with my vehicle. Not to mention, they give FREE estimates, and their inspections dont just look at your transmission, they also look at your whole car, to make sure everything is in working order. Definitely the first ones to call when youre having car problems!!

Poor communication and poor professionalism! Im down in the Savannah, GA area vacationing for the holidays when my transmission went out on my vehicle. It was due for a rebuild considering it had almost 300k miles on the original trans. I called Coastal because of the decent customer reviews and they popped up on Google first. The communication was good at the start of the business relationship. The owner informed me that my trans needed to be rebuilt and it would range from 1800 to 2300 and he would inform me throughout the week if it would require more parts that would require the expense to rise. Well the entire week passes and I hear no response on the charge but they do inform me my vehicle is ready for pickup. I drive miles to pickup my vehicle expecting to pay on the low end and of course the owner gouges me on the high end probably because Im an out of Towner!!! Never again... If Im in this situation again in this area I will try Rincon Trans...

Well they worked with my warranty company and got my car fixed fast but seemed a little put off when I opted to replace with a reman rather than let the rebuild but would take back if new problems come up
