Were from out of state and wanted to try a locally owned shop for breakfast. Its organized and clean. Staff is friendly and pleasant. They have a large variety of unique flavors, including vegan options! Everything we got tasted great and was super fresh but the croissant and apple fritter was to die for! The Nutella croissant was perfectly light and flaky but not crumbly at all. The apple fritter had a generous amount of caramelized apples with a nice glaze over it! Highly recommend to anyone passing throughπ
Nothing new that hasnt already been said!! Visiting from out of town. Family wanted donuts and I like to support local shoppes so I bypassed a Dunk... store and hit this one. Came back with a dozen. They were gone so fast I had to go back and get a second dozen, LOL!! Nice folks. Highly recommended. My son and sister-in-law enjoyed the Mochi donuts also.
Their donuts are delicious and I appreciate they add variety each week with different flavors. Their online ordering experience is really easy, just make sure you do it within the open ordering window. I always try to order ahead to make sure we can get the donuts we enjoy. Their mochi donuts are our favorite!
I come here every time. I love their unique selection, but you have to get here at a decent time or everything good will be gone. Also, a note to the owners: consider having a more accessible ingredients list. What about customers that have adverse reactions or allergies to certain ingredients? Not knowing or being able to find out whatβs in your donuts makes things difficult and is an unnecessary complication.
I didnt have high expectations, but I definitely did enjoy some of the flavors they have going on. All donuts are cut, fried, and made early every morning. They have a different unique traditional flavor, not many local donut shops out there. If you want your processed flavored donuts go to Dunkin Donuts or some place else. Also, dont forget to try out the blueberry iced coffee.
The cronut and mochi donuts were a bit oily and did not enjoy these. But the other regular dough ones were much better, very light and fluffy. A good variety of flavours as well.
Wow! The donuts here are some of the best Ive ever had. They are flavorful but not excessively sweet abs normally donuts give me heartburn but these ones dont. Ib tried the mochi donuts but they werent for me (since i dont really like mochi texture) but my sister and mom loved them. Favorites ask things maple, red velvet glazed, and smores! SO GREAT!
OK donuts. I tried this shop a couple of years ago when I first came to Phoenix and wasnt impressed. Gave them a second go and they were sightly better. They dont do butternut bars, which was disappointing. I will say that their fancy apple fritter was good and the best Ive had in town. Its kinda sad what passes for good donuts in Phoenix.
Super good. Drove here from Great Wolf
We love the local donut! We live a little far but I make the drive at least twice a month to satiate mine and my families cravings! The Ube and the Mochi donuts are amazing and so unique. I could go on and on about how delicious and amazing this shop is!
Delish donuts! They had a lovely selection of donuts even though most of them were sold out. We ordered the strawberry mochi, french cruller, original glazed, and and chocolate bar. Overall, their donuts were not greasy at ALL, they left no grease spots on the tissue paper that they laid on and they were not overly sweet. However, I would say they lack complexity of flavor and were a bit bland, but that might be the donuts that I got. You need to get there early to get the good donuts. The strawberry icing on the mochi donut was the best because it tasted like real strawberries. The chocolate bar is like a shorter chocolate long john and the original glazed had a really cool texture. Definitely worth trying, but wouldnβt be my go-to donut place. On the plus side, their box was super cute ;)
First time visit, attracted by website photos of their donuts. Innovative selection of toppings on donuts as well as the usual stuff. As a splurge for coworkers, purchased 15 items & spent more than $40. The counter help was very nice & patiently explained the flavors. I was excited to eat them & so were my coworkers. Unfortunately they werent as good eating as they looked. The donut itself was doughy, too soft, seemed almost undercooked. Also a bit greasier than usual & the grease didnt taste so fresh. This place is very busy. At 7:15am, there was only 1 customer ahead of me, but when I left there was a line of 6 people out the door. A fantastic business for the owner, open only 5 hours for 4 days a week! As I mentioned before, the toppings were really good but the the donut itself not so good.
From the very first time I came here as a normal patron, I have loved every donut I have put in my mouth from Local Donut. So when we got engaged and arent huge fans of cake, we decided Local Donut was the move. It was such a fun touch on a very non traditional wedding. We wont stop coming here, its the BEST!a complete side note: I brought these to a friend that is a chef, and he was truly speechless at how these are made, truly appreciated the tenderness that it takes to make these. Only another baker would appreciate that, I do too though!!
Some of the best donuts Ive ever had. Flavor is great - I fell in love with old fashioned blueberry & my partner got the Nutter butter (among many others). Great value at price. We will be back!
Had to drive 25 miles in the morning to reach this place but it is all worth it once you get your hands on one of their donut. Every single bite was worth it and they offer different flavors that cant be seen around in a regular local donut place but only at not so The Local Donut.Must try are the Mochi black sesame flavored, Nutella, vanilla custard & chocolate croissant.
Doughnuts are really good! They have some mochi type that are interesting. I will say its a bit hyped and pricey. They do have a bacon maple!
I come here every weekend. These are the best donuts in town with a friendly staff too. Favorites are the Oreo cookie and traditional sprinkles. The old fashioned ones and mochi are also great. Weekly new flavors too to try. Give them a try!
My favorite donut shop! Love their new favorites every season.
Short version - Best donuts Ive ever had. Hands down.Long version - Sometimes places make all kinds of fancy donuts to hide the fact that they dont make a decent donut. Cant make a proper glazed donut? Throw some oreos on it. Drench them in caramel. Put cereal on top. Youve been to these places, you know what Im talking about.Thats not the case with The Local Donut. The glazed was the best glazed Ive ever had. You could just get glazed and walk away grinning from ear to ear. The Cocoa Crispy was perfect, the right amount of crisp and sweet. I had some sort of fruit filled glazed one that was so delicious I kept eating long past the point where decorum would have suggested otherwise. I even enjoyed the blueberry and I HATE BLUEBERRIES. I highly recommend over ordering because everyone in your party is going to be saying Did you try the blah blah blah, its amazing
Amazing selection of donuts. Classics and fun new flavors to try. Excellent, friendly service this morning. Thank you!!
The place is a small little hole in the wall, but dont let looks fool you they have a great selection of donuts, the old fashion blueberry Is amazing really good! They are super clean and they store is kept up in amazing fashion. And the customer service is amazing great people and really polite, all in all if your from Arizona this place is a must go and if your out of state like me this is a must go!
Happy Fathers Day to me!So unbelievably delicious. I had some super decadent, speciality donuts in Portland that had locations in very posh places and they have nothing on The Local Donut. Call ahead and get your order in. It was worth the 30 minute drive.Flavors in the pic:Vanilla Bean Croissant DonutSmoresThe King (Bananas. Stop looking at other donut shops, this is the only one worthy of your hard earned cash. From the Blueberry to a crazy PB&J donut, you literally cannot go wrong with any choice.
Fresh fresh fresh! Wow. Stopped here randomly on my way to a morning appt in Scottsdale. Very good donuts. Small place, but they know their stuff. 5 stars for sure!!
The donuts were awesome. Though the fruit pebbles on the donut were stale. My favorite had to be the sβmores donut. They taste like the real deal. The donut shop still had a lot of options when I went an hour before they closed which was great. The Local Donut has a cute store front and sell really cute stickers and shirts also.
Once you go here, Dunkin will be dead to you. Weve had the local donut for breakfast at the office twice now and they are the hands down best if youre going to treat yourself to donuts. The variety of the specialty donuts is crazy. Theres all kinds of combinations, and the traditional stuff is done really well. There are also danishes and other things. If you want to treat yourself, definitely check this place out.
Yummy food and I placed my order in advance and it was ready for pick up when I got there
The donut flavors are unique. The thing that makes them stand out from the rest is they have dochis and cronuts.
Yummy af. Best donuts Ive ever had. Good price too.
I cant have donuts because of a gluten problem, but they have long been my favorite morning treat. I took my two youngest here for Saturday visit, and was blown away. Dont let the drab exterior fool you. This is a gourmet donut shop with an amazing selection, great service, and unbeatable prices. I took small bites of each of my kids selections - a bavarian cream and a chocolate cake - and they were fantastic. (Ill pay for the indulgence later, but it may just be worth it.)If you love donuts, go here. You wont regret it.
Only visited this place because of the reviews. Huge disappointment and waste of time. No one greeted, no one said thank you after making a purchase. The place contradicts the reviews. I donβt recommend.
I would give negative stars if possible. My husband got me donuts for mothers day this morning. The bacon seems raw and tastes fake. The dough in the middle of the lemon filled was still raw. We also tried the devils food, apple fritter and blue berry all with a disgusting aftertaste. Never again. Negative 10 π
One of the best donuts Iβve ever eaten where Iβm from there is only Dunkinβ Donuts which used to be good, now itβs made like hostess cakes, in a big assembly plant. You can taste the difference.
Finally a donut shop that has a large variety of classic choices. Reasonably priced. A nice selection of specialty donuts that I will have to try on our next visit.
Hands down the best donuts in Arizona. So good, every single time. Everyone in the store is super friendly too, even when theyre completely slammed (which is often!). Theyre such incredible donuts that we had to have them at our wedding last month - and they were a complete hit. People couldnt even wait until after dinner plates had been cleared to get some!
Really tasty, and really pricey. The old fashioned is especially good.
Great donuts and the stuffed croissant was rally good too!!!
Great little donut shop with a great selection of next-level donuts!! The maple bacon and fruity pebbles were incredible! The donuts are not too sweet - so if you get something with sugary toppings its a great balance. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable on a Friday morning, they explained the price break downs and offered donut hole samples! Definitely visiting again when Im in the area.
Simply amazing. These are not just donuts by any stretch. These are simply heaven. They reinvented what a donut can be.
I honestly dont know how/why this place has such good reviews? The donuts are pretty mediocre in taste and texture. I think Hurts Donut in Tempe is better than here.
Ive been following the Local Donut since my daughter used to work there. I follow them still and they always hit me up when I make a comment or when I make a like on Instagram. They even inquire on how my daughter was doing even though shes not working there. They hooked me up with a free dozen for Thanksgiving just because. It was a variety of everything good and fresh as always. You never get a day old donut!! They are π― the best in Metro Phoenix!! π
It is with shock and awe that I come to learn someone somewhere gave The Local Donut less than 5 stars!!To all who may read this? The local donut is a rare and unusual bird.. truly one in a million places, food places, can achieve this perfect score. The Local Donut is one of those places. If you havenβt had one of their trademark blueberry cake donuts? You donβt know what a donut really is. And this? Perhaps not even their strongest donut.I have seen many imitators, I have never had such consistency and bewildering flavors as experienced from The Local Donut.Havenβt tried it? Go in with kindness and an open mind and with plans you can cancel afterwards as youβll just want to bask in the glistening glazed afterglow upon having finally found a donut and coffee experience that tops ALL OF THEM.Hereβs another fun fact: I DONT EVEN LIKE DONUTS!!! But I LOVE The Local Donut. Treat yourself. Treat others. Eat Local, treat local, and spread this donut happiness to those you hold dear. God Bless you Local Donut.Love,Your Favorite Ohioan whoβs also coming in town next weekend for his Birthday :) see you soon!
Mochi donuts are delicious
I tried the lemon poppyseed vegan donut and the blueberry cinnamon sugar donut and both were unique and delicious! I will definitely be back when I am in the area!
I came here on a weekend morning and got a blueberry old fashioned, apple cider old fashioned, a cinnamon crumb, and a peanut butter and jam. The last one was the best one, the old fashioned ones were too sweet, and the cinnamon crumb was pretty average and somewhat tasteless. The old fashioned donuts had amazing flavors but really were just too sweet. The peanut butter and jam was delicious though; it was fresh and chewy, and the flavors were great. The donuts here are a bit pricey though compared to Bosa and Original Rainbow, etc - $.99 for the normal ones like the old fashioned and crumb, and the other fancy donuts are at least $2+. Theyre being very covid-safe here as they didnt let anyone into the shop and took orders outside. Service was friendly and there seems to be a steady stream of people here.
They have fresh eggs for their little meals and they Bobo in a variety of flavors. Very fast and friendly service. I would have given 5 stars if they were a little cheaper.
The doughnuts are good but the customer service was very eh, guy seemed annoyed to sell me doughnuts. Also pretty pricey on the fancy doughnuts too.
Im from out of town and this was around the corner from where my family was staying. The donuts were good but from the reviews I thought theyd be better.
If youre looking to satisfy your eyes and not your taste buds, this place is for you. The hype isnt around the actual taste.Paid around $25 for a dozen mix of Fancy and Schmancy-priced donuts (Oreo, fruity pebbles, capn crunch, butterbeer, creme brulee, etc). Nothing jumped out like wow! Thats a flavorful donut I can justify the price for! In fact, the flavors for the most part were subpar.Fruity pebbles is just a standard glazed donut with cereal on top. The capn crunch cereal was stale. The only one that jumped out with flavor was the apple pie and pb&j. Im not even a filled donut kind of guy, but I can admit that those were the actual flavor that was advertised.Do yourself a favor and stick to their regular ole standard $.99 donuts... your pocketbook and taste buds will thank you.
The Local Donut is in my opinion the best neighborhood donut shop that Iβve found in Phoenix/Scottsdale. They continue to be creative with their choices and always seem to just enough to satisfy everyoneβs demand in most cases.Even during the current conditions they have found a way both with their website and with in person ordering to keep their delicious creations available to their customers. If your ever in the neighborhood or if youβd like to check out what all the hype is about then donβt pass them up.
Mochi donuts and cronuts are delicious here. I had them in California but I never thought I would find a place here in Arizona that had them. Orders are pick up only and need to be put in a day ahead of pick up time. It gets very busy and understandably so they make the best donuts in Arizona hands down.
Local donut does a lot of things right. This morning their pick-up line was slow, unorganized, and disappointing. Also tried the cinnamon roll and it tasted like something Iβd get from QuikTrip. Disappointing trip all around.
Absolutely incredible donuts! Not normally a big donut fan, but these ones are unique and delicious in all the right way! I love the mochi and maple bacon.
Better than hurts. So good but very much the right amounts of everything. Hurts is overboard. So these are what we got, last day of the days of donuts 2019. This was sweet potato and its got mallows and was like a pumpkin pie. Few days before my cousins said she had fig and goat cheese, which is my favorite brick oven pizza flavor so i bet it was bomb. Others were cereal and creme brulee, smores oreo and cranberry. And another Ive forgotten. Dude go here, great staff great food and the coffee too was good.
Itβs no sidecar, but pretty decent doughnuts and great customer service! They accidentally gave me less doughnuts than I ordered right before closing, and so the manager gave me a coupon for free half dozen upon my next visit. Nice people!
Some of the best donuts in AZ!
I absolutely love this place. Especially now that they have mochi donuts they will forever have a loyal customer. Their donuts were already crazy good before that with their seasonal donuts they shuffle in and out. I literally have to drive 23 minutes (without traffic included) just to go and snag some of their amazingly delicious donuts. Today for example is their 4 year anniversary and they posted on their Instagram story that they had mango mochi donuts. I instantly called and asked to put aside 3 donuts for me and that Id be there in 22 minutes. They once said to save donuts to call or email. But i highly suggest not emailing as Ive tried that before and by the time i got there the ube mochi donuts were long gone. Thankfully they had a couple strawberry mochi donuts left so i tried out one of those. I love this place not only for their delicious food but the fact that its a mom and pop feel and not corporate run like Krispy Kreme. With how close Krispy Kreme is to my house being half a mile a way id take the local donut any day over Krispy Kreme.
Donuts made by the gods themselves. An absolute must-try if youre into gourmet and creative donuts.
Best donuts you will ever eat in you life! The dough is superb and the staff top notch! A+ all the way
Amazing doughnuts! The Samoa and the blueberry fritter were exceptionally good!
Used proper precautions due to covid. Delicious artisan donuts done right. Great service.
I give this spot two thumbs up. the service was friendly and observant. this place has a cool design.
Amazing fluffy donuts. Schmancy donuts are very thicc be careful venturing this path.
One word: Mochi. Must try the Mochi donuts!
First time to the Local Donut. Very good!!!
Good. Not great
Amazing quality but get there early cuz they sell out
Great donuts! My only complaint is they need to streamline thier service. The service is a tad slow but the donuts and croissants are worth the wait!
