Polite, professional service. Straightforward assessment of pricing for computer photo recovery. Quick to complete the job. Great communication about when repair could be picked up. Would definitely use BBS Computers again!
I brought my Mac laptop into BBS Computers last Friday and explained to them that I could not get my laptop to back up to a hard drive. I told them I wanted to reformat the laptop back to factory settings, but not before I backed up my important documents, and wondered if they could help me figure out why it was not backing up. They said they could help me. I left an external hard drive with them to back it up to, as well. They called me back on Monday with a price, at which point I reiterated that I needed everything backed up. They assured me that they had their own hard drive they could back it up to, even if my external didnt work, and they would back it up. I got it back today, and they backed up all of 12 documents, none of which I needed, and reformatted my entire computer, losing every important document I needed. I immediately called to inquire what happened. I received no apology from Steven, just a comment that there must have been something corrupt in one of my desktop folders (which I had pulled everything into prior to dropping it off), so it wouldnt back up. **Let me be clear: if I had been told that my desktop folder wouldnt back up as a whole, I would have taken my laptop back and manually pulled individual or important documents onto a thumb drive or external drive before reformatting the computer. I was never told - instead, this company went ahead and reformatted my computer without telling me, and without my permission, knowing that I was losing all the documents.** In the end, I paid $140 for them to reformat my computer, something I could have easily done myself. The whole reason I brought it in was because I needed help backing it up, NOT because I couldnt figure out how to reformat the computer, something I was extremely clear about not only when I dropped it off, but when they called me with a quote as well.I should have looked at reviews on other sites before I brought my computer to them. As it stands, I have lost incredibly valuable information that could have been saved with one phone call from BBS Computers. As much as I absolutely love to support small businesses, I will be warning people to steer clear of this business.
Great company. I work at a childrens non-profit and have brought several of our computers there for repair. Reasonable prices, good customer service, and Jordan has always given us good advice on how to move forward with our devices before going through with repairs.
The people who work here are highly professional and I have yet to leave unsatisfied. Ive had several phone and computer batteries replaced (different devices), as well as other miscellaneous repair jobs over the years. My most repair involved a laptop my mother had with issues of the screen flashing. Best Buy wanted $500 to replace the motherboard and other highly expensive parts. When I brought it to BBS Computer, a tech named Stephen looked at it and determined that there was an issue with the battery swelling, which could be causing the issue with the screen. After replacing the battery for around $190, the screen hasnt been flashing. Its clear the employees take the time to look into every possible solution before pricing, and I am happy knowing that I spent less than half the price at a local repair shop compared to Best Buy. My mom thought shed have to buy a new laptop since it was too expensive to repair, she was so happy to keep her old laptop that now works so much better.
The computer was not turned on, then I took the computer to them in the morning. By noon they were able to do it perfectly. My computer works better than the day I bought it! They were very knowledgeable and had very good communication.
PLEASE read my complaint & the owners response, keep in mind, Im a local businessman & I maintain 10s of 1000s of $ in my account. My issue was due to the TOTAL lack of effort on the owners part. Ive since filed a complaint with my bank over the bogus 35.00 diagnosis fee. theyve investigated & found in my favor. I think the argument & outcome speak volumes.... took my laptop in with a broken hinge. was told they would call with a cost to repair & that it would be a minor repair issue could be fixed in a couple of days, paid the 35 $ deposit. they called the next day, said it was ready. surprised, I asked what the repair cost & was told that Id called them & canceled the order. After a very confusing conversation about a call I never made, I was told the hinge was fine, the issue was internal. (NOTE: the laptop worked fine once Id opened it) but anyway, including the 35 $ discount for evaluation the repair would be 460.00 ! WOW new I paid 480.00 short of the story, expect to pay an evaluation fee but, dont expect to get satisfactory results. My take is, they never looked at it. Final note: just picked my laptop up...asked but REFUSED to give me a written receipt ? somethings wrong here ! STRONG suspicion, the positive posts are from friends or possibly the owner himself..BEWARE !
Best service in town. My MacBook was running very slow. The guy that helped me out was very helpful. He got it working perfectly within a day.The price was reasonable and a lot less than buying a new MacBook.
Fantastic service and great communication from every member of the team so far. They worked with me to rectify an issue, and the whole experience has been clear, friendly and easy.
Remote computer repair is so convenient. The installation process went smoothly. The problems were fixed and its running great.
These guys are great. Reasonable rates and very fast. Going into the repair queue for Geek Squad means 2-3 weeks of downtime. If you want your computer back fast - BBS Computers.
Knowledgeable, reasonable prices, explained the problem in a way I could understand. Thank you.
Every time the repairs have been great and permanent, which allows me to extend the life of my computer and save a lot of money. I put my laptop to serve a few times because it’s an ultrabook, very hard to work with.
I love this place. The price is fair--very reasonable. And besides affordable, it is fast! They fixed (iPhone screen replaced) my phone in about fifteen minutes, even faster than they said they would. But honestly, the reason this place gets five stars is because, unlike so many tech shops, the engineers are super friendly. They are welcoming and offer very good customer service. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Fast, affordable, friendly. I would never go anywhere else for an iPhone screen replace.
Amazing service! Had my computer cleaned and added additional hardware. Donald took care of it quickly and in a timely manner. He kept me up to date and had me up and running in less than a day. I wish I can give them 10 stars. Highly recommend them for your computer needs.
The price ($75) was very reasonable and the service was prompt. The staff was very friendly and they fixed my cracked screen. The quality of the new screen was amazing compared to other places I’ve taken my old phones to be fixed. Would highly recommend!
A little pricey but they did a good job
BBS Computers is great, they repaired my Lenovo Yoga with very reasonable price & timely basis. Very professional, knowledgeable & helpful staff. I came in from out of town & they quickly diagnosed Laptop virus, understood & completed the repairs I needed within my budget & time limits. I would definitely recommend his service to all my friends!
I was having issues with charging my iPhone and wanted to get it fixed right away. I was able to get estimates from various places but BBS Computers and Cell Phone Repair had the most reasonable price - including the parts and the labor. Donald was a quick res-ponder and very helpful. The phone needed the charger port to be replaced and it was done within 30 minutes. There was a person there that was able to help me out and gave me recommendations on how to avoid the c-port to burn out again.I would recommend this place for fast and reliable repair. Thank you for helping me out!
Great services Im ready for him to open back up now I need my screen fix again 🤦🏾♂️
Great place. Ive been there twice, and both times the service was friendly and all my problems were solved. Really knowledgeable guys. Recommended for phone or computer repair.
I bought a used laptop a couple of months ago from BBS. Very satisfied with everything. The guy who was working at the time was very informative and friendly.
So I needed to have my phones charging port repaired first they charged thme and $20 deposit to come in and even look at it (1st warning sign). Then they told me it would take 7-10 days for the parts to come in and I had to prepay for the repairs (2end warning sign). 2 weeks latter they had not called back to tell me the parts were in so I called them to check and they said that they had them. I set an appointment for the next day to bring my phone at 10 for same day service (they open at 10 due to COVID reduced hours. It is now 10:50 and Im sitting in the parking lot because and nobody is here and the store has yet to open.
*Great meeting with BBS to have my desktop problem looked at and trouble-shot for advice and a possible solution...but sticker shocked at the price to have the motherboard replaced! Suffering terribly WITHOUT it here at home! Up in the air about what to do with it vs BUYING a new one at Best Buy !
Reasonable, refreshing that stores like this still exist shame that so many had to fold to due best buy superstores whatnot. Check them out first highly recommend them.
So, my laptop stopped functioning properly due to a bad video card. I at first was going to try and take it to Best Buy as that is where I purchased the laptop; however, they had a month turnaround time and had to ship it to Kentucky just to get an estimate! I said forget that and I remembered that BBS computers was just across the road. I take the laptop there and even their least expensive diagnostic took only 2 working days. Talk about awesome! I get the laptop and estimate back on time, and very professionally.Great service, communication and prices! Very professional staff! You guys are why I like shopping and working with local companies. Thanks so much for all your help.
Very good service and reasonable too. They serviced my HP laptop with quick turnaround time. Appreciated their support.
Staff were nice and efficient. They werent able to fix the problem but this was not their fault I just have a really old computer. The store needs a little repair but thats neither here nor there. Their prices are reasonable.
Would not give an estimated price to replace the screen on my phone. Wanted me to leave it and they would charge me an evaluation fee to give a price. Screen was cracked, anyone could see that. Wont go back!!
I bought a laptop a couple of years ago from Best Buy. When it stopped coming on, I called them to see what I should do. Since my warranty was no longer valid he suggested that it would be less expensive if I took it to BBS Computers to be repaired. I found this to be strange since I bought the laptop from best buy but decided I would take their advice. I took my laptop to BBS on Trolley Rd. I am SO glad I did. The techs found my DC Jack was broke and repaired it. As they repaired my jack, they ran their tests on the laptop and found some viruses. Now my laptop runs like new again! So, if you want to buy a new computer go to Best Buy, but when your computer breaks take it here. Great costumer service and the cost was a LOT LESS than replacing it. Tabitha
I have brought 4 computers to get work done on them. 3 bought, and 1 built. They are extremely helpful, especially while I was building my computer. They are honest and do not try and pull the wool over your eyes. I will definitely be coming back.
These folks are fantastic. Bought a used more recent desktop from them (my old computer was 14 years old) at a very reasonable price and they transferred all my files and folders (over 14K) to the new computer. I was concerned about losing data and it taking forever to get the new computer. Both fears were unfounded.Nothing was lost and they completed the process in just a few days. They were very professional and understanding given my lack of computer knowledge. And I saved hundreds of dollars versus purchasing a new computer from a big box store. These folks are now my go-to place for computer issues and questions..
Brought in my sons cracked iPad and waited for an estimate. Received an estimate over the phone for $240 which I reluctantly paid. They would not take a credit card over the phone so I needed to make a trip back to ore-pay the &240. After 3 days I picked up the iPad and the home button was installed wrong and out of place. Returned the iPad and was told it would take another week. On the 5th trip to pick up the iPad again I returned home only to have the same issue.
Dont waste your time going there.
I thought my Toshiba laptop was dead for good. I bought a new one but Windows 8 was very confusing. I could not even figure out how to turn off the laptop. I took it back to Best Buy. The guy there suggested this place to get my old laptop fixed. Somehow they revived it. Now I am using Windows 7 again. They had my Toshiba working perfectly in a couple of days.
Took my computer in and worked with the service person Michael. I normally dont leave reviews but I think it is warranted. I walked in and told him how I was losing information. He examined my computer and discovered my problem quickly. He explained every detail of my problem and how long it would take to make the changes necessary to get me operational again. I was told it would take 3 days and Michael called me within 48 hours and had it fixed and operating I think better than the day I purchased it. GREAT SERVICE ! Thank you
Good deal!
My son stepped on my laptop and cracked the screen. This is my work computer and needed it fixed quickly. They were able to overnight me a new screen and had it working in a couple of days.
Awesome fast turn around. Good price. Great service.
From day one I have received excellent quality service in expertise and customer service. Loyal customer and their computer care is great!
So happy I found this place. Fixed my Playstation in December and now my game computer crashed. Thanks Michael
I am greatly disappointed with this computer repair service. I carried my computer to them and paid a 35.00 diagnostic fee, even though I told them exactly what was wrong with the computer. I was told that it could be repaired in two days; it has been over two weeks since I took it to them. I picked it up today, with no repairs made. Here is my experience:1. I was told that my computer would take six hours of labor to repair a damaged power jack. I asked why it would take so long; I was told that I had a tricky computer. There are self help youtube videos showing a technician making the same repair in less than fifteen minutes. This is taking it apart, making the repair, and putting it back together. This is far short of the six hour quote a technician told me.2. I was never called or updated on the progress of the repair. It was not until I made a call and a visit to the business to learn that (a) all parts are ordered from a wholesale place, which could take 3-5 days to get (b) the overall cost of the repair was 185.00, which is drastically more than the industry standard of 65-100 dollars. I was told that for 75.00 I could take apart my own laptop and they would make the repair to the mother board. That did not count the cost of the part, which was 9.00. I was quoted a much different price when I dropped the computer off initially- it was in the ball park of the industry standard rate, which can be found through a general google search using my computer type. I was out 35.00, so I gave the go ahead to order the part.3. When I went to find out the progress of the repair today, I was told that the nine dollar part had not yet been ordered. A week had transpired since my last visit. I was outraged, to say the least. I took back my computer and will never set foot in that store again. Needless to say, I will encourage anyone not to go there as well.4. At least two emails were made on my behalf to the store manager or owner about this transaction. They were well aware of the business practices being utilized by their employees. If you are reading this, it is the gospel truth and I would encourage you to find a reputable repair service.
I have never in my life dealt with such dishonest incompetent people. I called on Friday to get an estimate to get my PlayStation 4 repaired, I told them that it was a broken HDMI port. I was told to bring it in and they would have an estimate ready on Saturday. When I got there they informed me there’s a nonrefundable $25 charge to look at it but if I chose not to get my repairs done there I would have store credit. Since I had already driven over there I went ahead and paid the $25. Saturday came and went without a phone call from them so I called and I was told that unfortunately the manager wasn’t able to look at it until Monday. Monday came and around lunchtime I called them to follow up and was told that yes they had the estimate and that would be $130 to fix it but they don’t fix it there that they have to ship it off and it will take 2 to 3 weeks. I was of course flabbergasted as I had told them that this is what was wrong with it in the first place. I told him I would be coming to pick it up and I would get it repaired at CPR Cell Phone Repair in West Ashley where you are in and out that same day. When I got there to pick up my PS4, I attempted to buy an HDMI cable with my $25 store credit that they would not refund, and they said no it has to be used for future repairs. Again never told us and again I would literally hire a blind bum off the street to repair something before I went back to this awful place. I asked to speak to a manager and was told he was out of town for the week, conveniently, and after repeatedly asking I finally obtained his name, and I will be following up with him in a week. Do not under any circumstances go here. Not one applogy and when I asked WHY I was not told that the $25 deposit could only be used for repairs and not for anything in the store, the long haired salesman mumbled “If you read the fine print it is in there”. Nice shady way of doing business. So in summation, they stole my $25 but I will be sure to share my awful experience on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and ask all my friends to do the same. Very stupid and short-sighted of these crooks and incompetent people.
I am very happy that I decided to take my laptop to BBS Computers in Summerville for a second opinion after leaving from Best Buy Geek Squad. Best Buy said that my cpu, motherboard, and disk drive were bad and that they couldnt repair it. I was not very happy because nobody called me to give me a estimate before sending my laptop back. BBS said that all I had was a malicious malware and they could easily replace my disk drive for around $30ish. The prices are way better, it cost me $35 to have the diagnostic repair and the $35 will go towards my repair cost. My laptop cost me around $600 and it will be roughly $200 to fix my laptop. I will be defiantly coming back to them in the future.
I dropped my iphone and shattered the screen. Tyler fixed it in one hour at a lower price than all the places I called. The coffee was a nice touch. I also noticed communications between the techs and other customers was very professional. Glad I came here.
What started out to be a great experience with this company turned into a nightmare! We brought out PS3 to them on a saturday for a diagnostic. The gentleman working at the College Park Rd location was very knowledgeable and polite. We felt confident in their abilities. We got a call on Tuesday from the technician who told us what was wrong and what needed to be done, he said it would be ready on Thursday. On Friday, we still hadnt heard anything, so I called about the status and was told the technician working on it had an emergency (completely understandable) and it wouldnt be ready til at least Monday. My husband and I tried to talk to the person working on it to find out why it was going to take so much longer to fix and we were told that was priviledged information. We asked to speak to a supervisor and were told we couldnt. Our questions about the repair were repeatedly side-stepped. Finally we talked to another employee who was very helpful and did his best to resolve the issue. Then, I called on Monday to speak with a supervisor and couldnt get anyone on the phone. I called the number on the website and spoke with the owner, (by the way, this is the first time I had spoken to him) he proceeded to curse at me and tell me we were harrassing his employees and that my husband and I were bullies! I have never in all my life dealt with such rudeness from a company! Not only was I angry, but I was hurt! WE were the ones who had been given the run-around about the repairs and this man wasnt even willing to hear our side of the story! He literally answered the phone and started yelling at me!! I was completely dumbfounded! I have worked in customer service for over 20 years and I give credit where credit is due. The professionalism of the owner of this company is nonexistant.
Our first trip here was because of a crack screen on my laptop. Called around and bbs computers was the only place in town that could replace gorilla glass. I brought it in and they did the installation and price wasnt bad either. Later we needed a power cord fix for my wifes laptop and without calling I brought it in and Don fixed it for us right away and it still works. That was several months ago. My father needed a macbook repaired so I called and he knew exactly what was wrong with the macbook. My father took it to the shop on trolley road. When he went to pick it up a couple of days later he had a fender bender so he called and they waited after the store closed so he could get his macbook. My father was a little concerned because he always took it to the Apple store in downtown charleston, but with the money he saved he is happy. So far he hasnt needed the warranty but still nice to know it is there if he needs it. Highly recommended A+++
The guy that helped me was friendly. It took about 3 days to get my laptop fixed. The price was fair.
Great service!
Terrible Service...
