Dave and Bill, and of course their staff, are incredible to work with. I’ve brought my cars to them for the past 10-years exclusively for the things I don’t do myself.I know that I’m being given sound advice and being empowered to make informed decisions without being coerced or deceived. Business practice is ethical and honest. While their shop rate is a little higher than local competition, it’s worth it. Experience and high-quality workmanship doesn’t race to the bottom — you get what you pay for and I am 100% satisfied with the work they do. I don’t see my business going elsewhere for a very long time.

They have been maintaining my cars for years and I trust them. They even provided advice for my aunts car in another city (what diagnostics to do and how much it could cost).

I took my car to Midland Automotive for the first time last week. They were recommended to me and did not disappoint! I took it in for what I thought was a coolant leak and after testing they told me everything was fine. They are fast, friendly, and most importantly...honest! I will be a lifelong customer!

I cant believe I have lived here all these years and didnt know about this shop! My dad always took care of my cars, but since his passing, I have had to default to dealerships because I had run across so many mechanic shops that seemed sketchy, or else took to mansplaining when the found themselves talking to a female (Grrr!) This is the only shop I recommend to friends and family without hesitation. I know enough about car repair to know generally what is needed and have complete trust in their advice and quality of work. Cars are complicated but only once in 25 years something wasnt right and needed to go back to them. It was a car belonging to someone I referred. Midland took care of it with a high level of integrity.

We have a 1992 Nissan Pickup. First time going to M.A. -- we only use our truck for dump runs and such. It literally just sits in our driveway undriven most of the time. We used it recently and realized it was in need of serious love/care. We took it to M.A. because they were close to our house and based on the reviews weve read. I explained what I had experienced while driving it. They test drove and experienced the exact same thing. With a call letting me know what it needed, I accepted. A few days later (we were in no hurry to get it back), it runs like a champ.The price, to me, was a little steep. But honestly, well worth it for us. Well be back, thats for sure.

Midland Aitomotive replaced the starter, front brakes and checked out a potential transmission problem. In my car. They are very friendly and professional and their work is top notch.

First off if there are any negative comments (two that I can see) do not believe them. In my opinion they are the best shop in pierce county if not the state. I have taken all my vehicles to midland. They are honest and replace with only factory parts. Their communication is on point and never try to sell me something I do not need. I have had rear ends replaced, tune ups, entire A/C system replaced, electrical issues fixed etc. there isnt anything these guys cannot do. Their warranty is above the rest and that should tell you that they are confident in what they are performing. You get what you pay for people! And these guys are well worth the money! Highly recommend this shop!! In this day and age it is hard to find a good mechanic. My vehicles will never go anywhere else!They actually will install the customers parts BUT they will tell you that they cannot warranty the part which I completely understand. Like I said, honest and amazing work! Go with midland!!

Moved in September very close to this business. I had an opportunity to use them for a clogged air conditioner drain on my Prius (which Toyota said they didnt do) and the service was fast, friendly, and cost effective. Dave and Bill were so nice and Dave explained in great detail what my truck may need to get the 4 wheel drive to engage so I will be asking them to do that work too! Thanks! Update: Dave fixed the 4 wheel drive on my Ranger, service is great, I trust the work is done well, and theyre reasonable IMO. Thanks again!

We have been going to Midland Auto for over 20 years. Took all my kids cars there too! Always great service and great advice. If they find something they tell you so you can decide if you want to fix it or not. Sometimes we do the work ourselves and that works for them too. If you want great honest work done on your car go to Midland Auto. Hands down best around!

Midland Automotive has the best service period. They are truly honest and fair. My parents started using them, now I use them and I send my wife, and now her parents use them. They are always quality and upfront with us. They care about their customers and are active to give back to the community and great causes.

My wife found out about Midland from a positive review by a local Network News show. She worked near there so they serviced her car frequently and provided great work and patient customer service. We planned a road trip from Burley, WA to Ohio and back in our 1999 Chevy Tahoe so we had Midland give us a comprehensive diagnostics and cost to repair to ensure we were venturing out in a reliable vehicle. While headed East we encountered a problem unrelated to the repairs we received and Dave took numerous calls from us to provide helpful advice. After a wonderful visit with family we headed West again. While approaching the Montana border we had a recently replaced oil hose fail and I quickly shut off the vehicle and coasted off the freeway. After a AAA tow to a local repair shop we were given a diagnosis of catastrophic destruction of our engine. We called Dave and he picked up the cost of troubleshooting by the local shop and said he would like to look at our vehicle upon our return. He immediately started the process of attempting to recover damages from the hose manufacturer on our behalf. When we brought our vehicle back to Midland they greeted us with their decision that they would make us whole and take on the wait for compensation from the hose manufacturer. After a few days they reported that our Tahoe was relatively easy to repair and accomplished those repairs free of charge. In a matter of days I went from feeling bent over a barrel in Montana to having the weight lifted off my shoulders by Midland Auto! Thank you Dave and Bill!

We just recently found out about them and are so pleased that we did. My car is working well now. We feel that they are honest and I also like that they quote and then stick to that quote. I also like how clean and nice the shop is--flowers around the doorway even.

My starter died and they got me in and out in short order. I was lucky someone had canceled. They are very knowledgeable and the 3yr/36k mile warranty is very comforting, plus the prices are very good. Buckys wanted about $290 to install 12/12k warranty, Midland did it for $360. Everyone else I called was about $400+.

Hands down the best repair shop in Tacoma. The guys here are very fair and honest. They always let me know exactly what is wrong or needs to be fixed before they get too far into the problems and always do exactly what I approve. I really appreciate all that they have done for me for the last 8+ years and wouldnt dream of taking my car anywhere else! If youre not sure where to go this is the place for you.

Dave, Bill and the Mechanics at Midland Automotive are the best! If I dont do it myself they are one of the only shops I will use. They are ASE Master Mechanics who know their stuff and they stand behind their work (Who else offers a 3 year warranty?) I recommend them to friends and family not only because they are consummate professionals but because they are genuinely nice people. I have been going to them for many years now and hope to for many more..

Ive been taking my vehicles here for the past 13 years. Bill, Dave and their crew do a great job. Theyre honest, parts and labor costs far below going to a dealership, reliable, timely, will usually find what the problem is and let you know what is was that caused the issue and more times than not can fix it (if not, they have other dependable businesses they will refer you too). Call them for a quote and likely theyll become your go-to mechanic for years.

Dave and Bill at Midland have worked on two of my cars and one of my sons cars. Dave even remembered who I was and my cars that he worked on. Probably the best shop in Pierce County. I have been using their services for 16 years. They actually repair, not just replace parts. Always up front with costs, never a surprise. Highly recommend for everything from service to rebuild. Have to edit that to 20 years now. Still my go to shop for most everything to do with auto repair.

Honest and ethical. Hard to find these days but Midland Automotive does it right! Price for service might be the same as anywhere else but these guys wont sell you something you dont need. I have told all my children and grandchildren if they need service this is the place to go. Highly recommend.

Im so glad I found Midland Automotive. I was looking for a place to take my car in for the routine maintenance so I didnt have to drive to Fife to get it done.The place is tidy and clean. Theres coffee in the waiting room/office. I had an oil change and I got a courtesy check for other parts too (breaks, fluids). My car needed synthetic and Bill informed me about the cost before proceeding. He also gave me advice about the range of mileage that I could go with synthetic. My car was done in a timely manner and I was not pressured into fixing or buying anything. I do not know a lot about car and its comforting to know that I can take my car here from now on and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Once again Midland Auto came to my rescue and took the time to evaluate the problem I had with my Cadillac. The charge was more than reasonable, and I always leave feeling my cars are in top running shape. Thanks to all!

Very nice people, but some incompetence in the shop. I took my truck (5.4 triton f150) there last spring for spark plugs, I know its a tough job and expected to pay $700 for the service. 6 weeks later the truck was falling and in addition to major timing issues they told me I had one loose spark plug and another that was broken off! I had to explain that I just had them do that repair. So then into diagnostics, finding my cam phasers to be faulty and completely replacing the timing system around $4,000. Well, here we are 16 months later and the tension guide failed that they installed and Im going through the whole ordeal again.The truck isnt back at Midland though, after my elderly parents had their car repaired, Midland put the wrong AC pump on their vehicle causing the serpentine belt to fail. I mean cmon guys! Lucky I was driving and able to steer the car to safety.I like you guys, but you need to drug test your Ford tech.Wouldve loved to support you, but three strikes and youre out.Good luck

I havent used a shop in years because I do most of my own work. Due to a lack of time and a sore back I had them replace the valve covers on my Lexus ES300. The work was done as quoted and advised me on other work that may be needed in the future. Very happy with the result.

THe fixed my car in November of 2011. The bill was about $800 with a one year warranty which he did not honor. He said he couldnt find out the problem. I had it looked at by another repair shop and they found and fixed it at a reasonable priceThis mechanic fixes things without giving an estimate first and getting my approval. He didnt know what was wrong and changed some cap with a scratch on it and tried to charge me $85. I told him I wasnt going to pay him I didnt authorize any work. He told me not to come back to him anymore. Like I was going to anyway..Run~this guy looks honest but isnt. I am hesitant to give bad reviews but this one is well warranted.

I needed to do some repairs last year on my 07 infinity g35x and I wasnt sure where to take it to but I did I little bit of research and find out that midland Auto was a good place to take it to..Dave and the guys were pretty good with they work and a reasonable price. I dont really recommend anyone...but this guys are really worth a shot.

My original review was a fairly positive review but given time I began to see how much of a bad deal I got bringing my car here to this shop. Prices here are ridiculous. Charging 400% more for a part they order for you than it would if you bought that same factory part yourself. They wont install parts you buy. I highly recommend anyone that wants to take their car here, to find a smaller business shop or trusted mechanic. Youll be thanking yourself for all the thousands youll save not going here. What they did for me at almost $1000, an independent mechanic did for less than $50. Not only price but the weeks my car sat in their yard waiting to be seen.

Great mechanics. My 2007 Jetta had a check engine light that was baffling me and another mechanic. When I took the car here they were able to locate the problem and fix it. The cost was quite reasonable too, less than I had expected. However, I cannot give them a 5 star rating because they do not install customer supplied parts such as rotors, struts and others. Their quote for them to supply parts is a little exorbitant.

My first time I took my car to Midland, I had just been burned by a chain repair business.(they quoted me one price, but the real price was higher). They called me to tell me my car was ready and what the charge would be. When I got there, I was told that the price I was given over the phone was wrong and I thought here we go again but the price was LOWER than the price over the phone. I was hooked! That was about 5-6 years ago and weve never taken our cars any where else.My car is my office, as I drive to see clients at their homes every day.Honest, fair prices, good people who want to (and do) give good service for a fair price.Why go anywhere else?

Brought in my classic restored 71 mach 1 from out of town for an idling issue that 2 other shops couldnt figure out. I have an original 351 Cleavland engine. Dave took good care of me. They perform honest work, and I feel quite comfortable with their 2 year guarantee of their work. I know that if the same issue ever comes up these guys will take care of it no charge. Its not easy finding honest mechanics, but Midland is both honest and great at what they do. And Im particular about who I would even allow to work on my car.BTW, I read the negative reviews here from Vivian and Tuna, and I have to completely disagree. In my case, I had worked performed PRIOR to taking my car to Midland the last guy who worked on it made mistakes, and this of course costs money to fix. Its not Midlans fault that the last mechanic to work on your car screwed up. If it costs more than you wished (mine did as well, I paid for a 1k mistake the last guy made, and like anyone else, it hurts shelling out that kind of dough for a repair), point the finger at where the blame lies, which is the people who fixed your car last. In my case, I didnt realize the issue in my vehicle was shoddy work by the last mechanic until Dave showed it to me with my own eyes. Midland was always upfront about costs with me. And what makes me feel comfortable about the cost is that they guarantee their work for 2 years. I know that I can take it back at any time and they will not charge if it is the same issue. And as far as Tunas bad review goes...well his name is Tuna, I think thats all that needs to be said about that.

I have always trusted their work and integrity.Unfortunately the last time I had work done there one of their mechanics broke a part and the car was not drivable. It cost another $700 on top of what I was paying to have done. I did not know it at the time but it is illegal to charge more than 10% above the original estimate.Did they do the right thing, admit their mistake and bear the cost? No, they lied (said it wasnt the mechanics fault) then illegally charged me for it. It’s really sad because I trusted them. I thought they were different.The best in Western Washington? No, just common thieves.The issue was with a Ford Windstar but you know that.As for that sway bar you said it was an unimportant part. You said I could drive the car forever without any problems. Then you told me that you found a used one and how much it would cost. Why would I think not having to spend money on an unnecessary repair is bad news? (your words, Dave)The Windstar was over a year ago. Do you not remember because you do this sort of thing so often that you just cant recall which part you broke on whos car?In fact now that I think about it I had no choice but to pay for your mistake because the van was not drivable until repaired. The part you broke spat steering fluid all over. I told you I live 4 blocks from the shop and you said it wouldnt make it that far.Like I said, I trusted you Dave. I never thought I could trust a mechanic but you were different.Until this. Dave, if you continue to lie and pretend this never happened then that just tells me what kind of a man you are.You may be a great mechanic but youll never fix that.

They worked on my 95 mustang and repaired it after it had many issues the car worked fantastic ever since after it was fixed. I will always recommened going here for your car. The staff are always polite and helpfull.

I bought a 1983 El Camino that was stock and really neglected. I had it in and out of every Chevrolet dealer and most automotive specialist in town and no one could fix it properly. One time at Midland Auto and it was a done deal. And they did not stiff me for a large price tag. A little bit of old time mechanic ability and some determination and I have a nice running (and stock) El Camino!
