The staff were extremely friendly who attended to us well, and delicious sandwiches and smoothies! Will definitely come again, and I love what the cafe supports within the community.
So I was invited to this place for a focus group. Which I must say I enjoyed incredibly the portico Cafe was my first time being here. I absolutely love this place I enjoyed the atmosphere the quality of food was awesome although I only had coffee and a couple snacks and this turkey sandwich all which were delicious. It was a breath of fresh air from the other coffee shops that are normally overcrowded and overpriced. I believe the pricing here was fair and reasonable the quality was above average Im a big coffee connoisseur I enjoyed the coffee here it was fresh with all the condiments that I drink sometimes with my coffee. The overall ambience of the cafe was calm cool and quiet. The restrooms were well cleaned and so was the cafe. I recommend this place to visit just for coffee or the food great people and good atmosphere like I always, four stars for me is the highest I usually give and thats because I believe theres always room for improvement in this case possibly the menu options could have had a little bit more diversity. Overall keep up the good work and I will be back.
I was walking past this place when I began to smell the aroma of food and coffee, it was a cool morning and I was itching to find a spot to sit and eat after a rough time in traffic. I was greated with warm “hellos” and soft introductions. This location was brand new and the staff talked me through how being a subsidary of the church. This non-profit coffee shop contibutes greatly to the homeless in Tampa. I was shocked, I felt special to know that this truly organic cafe with caring staff worked so hard selflessly. This location has multiple meetings spaces you can rent for less to nothing, gift items for friends or family, and of course amazing coffee and food. Check out my photos I uploaded as they are undervalued if described. This place is gorgeous, clean, and well taken care of. The staff(pictured)will have you feeling like family and you will almost always leave with a smile. I highly recommend from the bottom of my heart to any coffee drinker, businessman, doctor, or passerby in this area.
I absolutely love this place and cant wait till theyre able to fully open again. For now they are doing window service a few days a week and still doing great work in and for the community. Definitely swing by and grab a latte if youre in the neighborhood
They say this coffee shop is one with a mission and they mean it. 50% of their employees are the disadvantaged. The fine folks that run this new coffee shop not only employ people that need work most, they also pay them a living wage AND find them housing. If that didnt inspire you to visit them, I dont know what will. They truly are an amazing community partner...AND their coffee is pretty good too. This is now one of my go to places to work while Im sipping coffee (theres plenty of outlets) or as a great place for a meeting.
Not much to recommend. The interior does not quite work and has some food smell. For my avocado toast the avocado was nice and soft. Strangely, it was sprinkled with hot pepper flakes. The kind of condiment you use to see at pizza places. Also strangely, it worked and I found myself enjoying the food. The coffee was nothing special and the prices were reasonable.
The Portico is one of the best things happening in Downtown Tampa. Delicious food, great coffee, dynamic event venue, a beautifully refurbished old church chapel thats used for weddings and quiet time for meditation and reflection during the week. Proceeds from the cafe and event space rental guess into projects to fight homelessness. Go today for a great experience and a great cause!
I finally found a coffee shop in my area. Nice, and strong full-flavored, and not as expensive as some of the others Ive tried before. I would strongly recommend this coffee shop to everyone who loves coffee.
Very nicely decorated, and one of the few places with really low noise levels which helps better communicate and connect with the people youre hanging out with! I like to come here for casual dates and catching up with a friend. The main reason why Im giving four stars instead of five is because the cleanliness is not the best (That was before social distancing though, so I hope that the new era encouraged the owners to revise and improve their cleanliness standards!).
Good coffee & breakfast. Nice place & plenty of space to post up for a bit. I appreciate they are a nonprofit with the mission of helping those in need. Also, have meeting & event space available for use by other nonprofits. I’ll be back...
Now this is good food. Most delicious food I have had in a while! I definitely recommend it.

This was my first time visiting and I will be back for sure. The store is clean, has comfortable seating and music plays as one is enjoying drinking their latte.
I like This cafe and Staff love you
Great ambiance & decor. next time ill be back with my friends. it has a great atmosphere. i can see why they have so many reviews.
This place is awesome. I attend a recovery meeting here, but there are tons of other things going on here. I met the pastor who runs it and he was very helpful finding the meeting I was looking for. He also uses this place to employ homeless people and help get them back on their feet. They work in the cafe part during the day and live in a facility he provides as well.
Meeting place was excellent
Amazing is the only words I can use to describe this wonderful meeting place. Not only can you enjoy fellowship with people you can also get an amazing sandwich, coffee, smoothie. All the profits go to help the portico work force solutions. The Portico is amazing please go and support and have a great sandwich, coffee, and smoothie.
This place is really nice. There mission is awesome and the staff is the friendliest around. The food and smoothies are delicious. Only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is the limited menu. Otherwise everything is exceptional. :)
The Porticos mission is just amazing. We stopped by for coffee this morning but left with full appreciation of all that they do. Please visit, even if its just for a quick caffeine fix.
Not bad, they have breakfast sandwiches, bagels, espresso, which were all yummy, however I didn’t feel like anything stood out as really great or memorable, just a good stock cafe to have nearby. The restaurant itself is really cute and clean with open space and the ladies who served us were friendly and helpful. I don’t think I would give it another go.
Portico is always a lovely experience. The staff is always kind and helpful. Its always completely sparkling-spotless. The vibe is busy but relaxed. The food is fresh. I absolutely love their mission and the way they bring the community together. Cant wait to return.
The Cuban sandwich was okay but maybe a little be expensive. Friendly staff, always 😃 smiling. Nice decoration, comfortable chairs, etc. Very attractive. Do you want a coffee and read a magazine in Downtown Tampa? This is the place. And they have its own parking for free.
Always terrific. Open Tuesdays and Thursdays now, Limited hours
Great place. Great food and drinks for a cause. Generous portions. Traditional and creative menu items. Nicely appointed, laid back atmosphere and super clean. Children friendly with high chairs and changing table.
Love what they are doing in the community to help our Brothers & Sisters who have lost their way. May Gos continue to bless everyone involved, keep them safe & carry on.
I absolutely love it there the vibe the food was amazing I had a roasted vegetable sandwich with goat cheese and I even asked for a little bit of extra goat cheese and she gave it to me on the house it is such a blessing to have a place like this in the middle of Tampa thank you so much guys youre wonderful and you make excellent food and its great by you can write on post-it notes and put it on the window about what God has done for you is such a blessing to have a place like this thank you thank you thank you
There are many places in the city where you can get amazing coffee, but this is the best of the best. I am always surprised and delighted to taste such savory!
I love love love thia place and they do service work.. Cant ask for a better place than that. Makes my heart and belly feel good
This cafe has a classy coffee shop vibe, and offers a small but tasty lunch menu. They also advertise breakfast all day but i didnt see a breakfast menu. The cafes proceeds benefits the area homeless. There is varied inside dining (larger tables, standing tables, cozy tables, couches) and covered outdoor dining. Food prices are $-$$. It is quiet, and i like to come here to read while having lunch. There is no dedicated parking; vehicles would have to park at meters on the street or use nearby pay parking lots. Right on bus routes.
I dont even have to add any type of sweetener because its perfectly palatable as is. This place is super cool and unique!
Love the Portico! Delicious food, comfy chairs or plenty of tables, great mission. Also a great meeting space!
The Portico is the perfect addition to downtown. You can actually get an affordable and quality sandwich or panini. Im a major fan. The staff a super friendly and accommodating. There arent a ton of tables inside, which I think is great because it is so spacious. There are lounge chairs, low tables or high top tables so you can take your pick.
I loved the business and pleasure. It’s great to have three drinks in front of you on a Sunday morning.
Very pleasant venue. We had a bite of dinner before seeing the Gay Mens Chorus of Tampa Bay. Good place to get a sandwich when pressed for time. Sandwich was good. Venue was very pleasant for the concert. Comfortable, not huge, sound acoustics good. People were very pleasant and the chorus was most enjoyable. Will be returning for the Christmas/winter Concert this weekend.
Thanks to Justin for his warm welcome. My crew from Childrens Board enjoyed our fellowship there in honor of a staff birthday. I did not try your delicious coffee this time but everyone loved their lunch choices. Thanks to you and Portico Cafe staff.
Held our first Chaplains meeting there. Really nice place to meet. Food was very good. People are very friendly.
Really cool Cafe in the north part of downtown Tampa. If you are nearby, I highly recommend checking this place out. In addition to offering a great place to grab a coffee or snack, there is ample space to open up your laptop and get on the internet. When I was there, I noticed quite a few people working together in groups on various projects. In addition, there were multiple conference rooms that could be used to conduct meetings.
This is a community Cafe run by Hyde Park United Methodist Church. Their sandwiches are made to order every day, they use local coffee (Blind Tiger), and Their soups just like grandma use to make. On Friday nights they have an open mike night, as well as other community events in the main part of the church. Theyre located in Downtown Tampa near the Floridan Hotel. Did I mention the Strawberry lemonade, no, I HIGHLY recommend it.
Excellent food. Great prices. Absolutely wonderful service. The atmosphere is amazing, especially with the art on display and for sale. I also like the fact that it is a non-profit and that they are doing good work in the downtown Tampa area.
Friendly, quiet, nice ambiance, delicious food and coffee, im glad to live next to this place I wish they had longer hours lol
I need to pray to God and get high on caffeine? signed me up!Absolutely beautiful
The Portico is awesome! The is top notch and delicious. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Go to the Portico for an unbelievable experience. One love.
Love this place. Fresh coffee (good options including cold brew), fresh on-site baked pastries (i had the guava cheese turnover, yum). Staff is relaxed and warm. Great spot with plenty of space to work.
Price are very reasonable and very clean. Reminds me of other cafe shop but only better.
This space is so versatile. I met here to do a photoshoot and I ended up staying and doing business here too!
Phenomenal coffee, best spot in Tampa. Right in downtown, great food and staff with a focus on an even better cause for this city. Local community feel to it as well.
Loved it! Great coffee and awesome people. The staff was very friendly and keep the place nice and clean. I’ll be back!
Impressive! The food was good, healthy and priced right. Great place to work or study. Employees may come from disadvantaged backgrounds but now receive skills and make a fair wage that will allow them to improve their lives. Please give it a try.
A great little cafe with healthy gourmet food choices. Theres often art displayed from local talent, many evenings you will hear live music, and its good to know that by eating there you are supporting a community that is reaching out to those in need in downtown Tampa.
Normally this place would get 5 stars from me, the coffee is strong, nice atmosphere great staff and affordable. As of late the service has been lacking. I received half of my Cuban toast, and they passed it off as a whole order.Just make sure you get your whole order.
Nice quiet coffee shop. I met there with a couple clients for a monday morning meeting. The staff were helpful and cheerful, and allowed us to use a nice quiet conference room for a couple hours, while we enjoyed some coffee and muffins.
My good friend rented the place to surprise her husband for his birthday. The staff was friendly and attentive. They made us smoothies and specialty coffees. They were welcoming and did a wonderful job.
Great food, drinks, and comfy seating. Plus they support some great causes here in Tampa!
Fantastic place! Love the fruit smoothie! Love the spinach breakfast sandwich! Love the almond butter toast! Love everything! Extremely friendly staff. Never miss Portico cafe.
The Portico is a warm welcoming place for all; gay, straight, pink, purple, black, white, religious, spiritual, male, female, physically challenged. It is a community for one and all. Great cafe, meditation, Yoga, and a choir for those who have special needs. It is a wonderful place for those who feel they have no where to go as The Portico welcomes all.
I really love this place. Unfortunately they replaced the menu and new options are on there. I would always go for bacon, egg, and cheese on cuban. Was not on the menu. Was disappointed. Still go cause its walking distance and I love the staff.
Great place for worship, work shops or a great lunch. Plus lots of interactive events.Justin LaRosa is the director and he will always have time for you and your family and friends.
Love a good place with a good mission. The inside is work-friendly and the espresso I had was good too.
Attended Bold Goal Town Hall with Humana sponsors and other local community partners discusing important health issues and practices that are working to improve the health of people across Tampa Bay.
Excellent place to get some rest and relax with a very nice coffee and very friendly people. Inside is quite cozy with comfort seats. I highly recommend this place.
We unexpectedly stopped here to use the restroom and excitedly had a terrific new lunch. Probably the best parfait, seemed to be fresh strawberry puree on the bottom. Delicious and smooth hot caramel macchiato with a super fresh Cuban and surprisingly some of the best potato soup ever. Might just be my new fav lunch spot! Thanks Rev. Justin for stopping by to intro yourself and mission, great job and continued blessings!
This place is dope.... Very clean and cozy... Great drinks... Great food... Great service. Joseph was awesome.
Limited breakfast and lunch menu but each item has a twist that makes it special. The staff was friendly and accomodating. This establishment employs and trains the homeless and profits support homeless programs.
Great place to sit and work on your laptop with a nice coffee.
Best relax spot for a break from city life and brainstorm your next big idea. Most places dont serve varieties of tea with breakfast. Yet this place tops them all friendly and welcoming to all.
Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and comfortable seating.
This is a great place to stop by for some lunch and they have a meeting room that is fantastic for meetings under 20 people. On top of this, they are a social justice oriented business who helps people get on their feet in society.
Clean venue and friendly staff await you, and food and coffee are pretty good 👍...
Love what they stand for will continue to support them.
Really good atmosphere and the Cuban breakfast sandwich really hit the spot!
Food is fresh, service good and prices also reasonable. Will go again.
Great coffee, and there a non for profit thanks to the ministry for the support to the community,
Beautiful church, welcoming people. I really enjoy their focus on silence and meditation.
Cool place for coffee and although we didnt eat the food looked good! Love the fact that they have a non-profit that feeds the homeless.
A great quiet place to meet, work or eat in downtown Tampa with free off street parking and wifi. Great conference room available for a cost.
The Portico Cafe was wonderful. The atmosphere is very relaxing, it is spotless, and the sandwiches are right on. Also, the drinks are exceptional.
Enjoyed our schools end of year get together celebration. I was very impressed with food, staff and purpose.
Nice place... performed with my band BDR, and people loved us the crowd was great
This is a place that swears to do well, yeah theyre not actually willing to help people. Its friendly enough for anyone and they seem to have a good cause but anyone in Tampa knows its simply a corporation trying to make money.
This place is absolutely outstanding. Really nothing but enjoyable experiences here, Ill be back. Bring your hunger - portions are large.
Delicious, my teenage daughter daid, dang good!
Great place to worship the Lord after hours
Excellent social enterprise project to help the homeless with good food and comfortable coffee house environment.
Great space, I had never been there before.
Great place to do an event for jobs, Churches.
Nice little place. Very clean. Friendly service. Good coffee. Enjoyed the experience!
Very nice, caring people. Good coffee, teas, and sandwiches. Free and easy parking is nice too.
Such a great place. Customer service is great.
I love this place thanks to Chalette Davis. I have been a lover since the tour... Thank you.
The Portico is a great local coffee shop. Proceeds help battle homelessness and hunger in Tampa. The coffee selection is wide and the quality of the coffee itself is good. I like the Cafe con Leche and even their drip is good.As a cafe, they have sandwiches, La Segunda Cuban bread, salads, and empanadas so there are plenty of options. Wi-Fi quality is good and there are plenty of plugs for those who need a spot to stop by and work out of in Downtown Tampa.Forget Starbucks and stop by The Portico if youre Downtown.
