Aside from running your credit 4-8 times in a couple of hours, it was great. I picked out the car before I got there, signed all my paperwork, sales person was new but still did great and they washed it and filled up my tank.The next morning my car wouldnt start so they sent a tow truck to pick it up at their expense, found out the battery died so the put a new one on and I enjoy my car very much.Thank you!

Thank you goes out to Seth McMichael for saving our whole experience. We went in after work one evening to trade and purchase a vehicle. First of all the guy who was helping us look at the cars kept telling us every single one we wanted to drive was not available leaving us to believe we could not even test drive any of them let alone buy one. Finally another gentleman told him that was not correct and we could indeed drive them.After picking out the vehicle I wanted, we noticed a nail in one of the tires. We asked that it be fixed before we take the vehicle so we did all financing on computer that night. Walter told us to come back the next day and all we will have to do is sign papers and pick up our Cadillac. We showed up after work the next day thinking we would be done asap and the car would be ready. Well, didnt happen. The guy at the front asked us if we had an appointment and we said no (no one ever said we needed one...we were told come back and show them your paperwork and they will be able to help you). On top of that we were also told they didnt have time to fix the tire. Had we known that, we would have just taken the car the night before and fixed it ourselves which is what we had to do anyway. Plus we waited 2 hours for someone to help up which is where Seth McMichael came in. He was fast, efficient, and went out of his way to make sure we didnt have to wait any longer. He deserves 5 stars but the experience gets 1!!! I usually give someone 3 chances but all were used up with that experience. I probably wont get my next car from CarMax just because of this whole fiasco. Oh and one more thing, when you call to speak to someone in your local office, you cant!! You will get someone in Virginia or Georgia which is NOT my local store. Do business better CarMax and also, give Seth a bonus!!!!

We went in on Saturday to look at a car. We made plans with the salesman to return on Tuesday to purchase that car. When we returned we were given a different salesman who didnt know what we had talked about. The process took so much longer than it needed to by switching salesmen. After signing ALL of the paperwork the salesman handed me the key for our new car & told me that I would need to return on any Monday to have the fob programmed. Every time I unlock my new car the alarm goes off!! What kind of company sells a car that doesnt have a functioning keyfob??!! Ive made one trip up there already to have the fob programmed.... turns out, the key guy is only there at NOON on Monday! He was gone at 1:18 when I arrived....

Would not recommend this place. My van did not have a spare tire, jack or owners manual. They told me this brand did not come with a spare tire or jack. The next day I went and bought both and they were installed by the tire store. Deceptive trade practices. Ive also been locked out of the car and had to have the key fob looked at. They said it was worn out and broken.

Associates dont work on commission, and they will let you take your time and are very knowledgeable and helpful. Complete transparency in the process, start to finish. I just bought my fourth vehicle from them, and have been happy with each one. You should at least check them out next time youre in the market.

Didnt play any games with us. Offered us a fair offer that was higher than any of the dealers we tried right off the bat. Whole process at the dealership took less than 30 minutes to sell my car. Excellent to work with.

Not that great. Had a Jeep Grand Cherokee transferred to a Carmax close to me. Paid $499. When the vehicle came in, I was asked to come in and “look” at it. I gave it a quick drive and realized it smelled of stale cigarettes. Brought this to the attention of the salesperson. I wasn’t offered a 24 hour test drive, and I didn’t know you get one, honestly. So, ended up buying it that night. The next morning, discovered the passenger door was not an original Mopar door. Since then, I have been trying to get another vehicle brought in, so I can walk away from this one when the new one comes I will insist on my 24 hour test drive. Until then, Carmax has not made me happy….

The Car Dealership in Tyler Tx is Horrible!I would not recommend them in anyway buying or selling a vehicle. I sold my 2019 Dodge Ram on July 29,2021. They have NOT contacted my Bank to pay off the truck today is August 31,2021. My bank gave them a 14 day payoff the day i sold the truck to them.The truck is still in my name and im bout to make my second payment. ON a truck i dont have. I call Carmax Corporate office everyday all they tell me is that they are investigating it. I called the Tyler office everyday and they said they are looking into it. They have my truck for sale on there Tyler Tx website but it says soon to be available. Word of Advice! DONT SELL THEM YOUR VEHICLE!! If it is financed by your bank.You will end up in a financial hardship like me pay for something that you dont have!!

My rep (Logan) was super chill and laid back. He answered all of my questions and accommodated all of my request. As for the other reps, they seemed to be annoyed whenever I tried to asked them a question. They kept staring at me as if I was up to something. Not sure if it was because I was wearing an Obama shirt.Logan offered to reimburse me for having to wash the car out-of-pocket; I was ignored whenever I tried to follow up. I am enjoying the car but unfortunately I had such a mediocre experience purchasing it. I’ll just go to the CarMax in Garland next time.

Had a long wait, but the experience was great. They offered me near KBB proving for trade in on my truck and helped me find the car I want. Unfortunately have to pay 99 dollar transfer fee to get it delivered from the other Carmax. Only recommendation is to schedule an appointment to avoid long waiting times.

The car is beautiful and runs good. however we took it to a car wash just a couple days after buying it and the front bumper fell off in the car wash. my husband talked to someone, and they are suppose to be replacing the bumper. that was 2 weeks ago and we havent heard anything. we will be calling them tomorrow.

Picked out a vehicle and had my preapproval letter from bank (for more than the car was worth). Told the manager I want it but because the bank was closed, wouldn’t hold the car. Was told “they have to give every customer the opportunity to buy it until i sign Papers”. So I want the car, have the financing and proved it, and still the dealership puts the car back on the lot for it to be sold out from underneath me. Great business practice CarMax... I’ll take my business elsewhere.

I want to start by saying I was very impressed by the selection of vehicles and the service I received online. I started an application and was immediately reached out to and withing minutes had secured a vehicle and paid to have it transfered to my local store. Unfortunately that is where the good customer service ended. The car arrived 2 days after paying to transfer which was awesome so I set up an appointment for 11am. I arrived at 10:40am and was told someone would help me within 5 minutes. My wife and I sat in the lobby for 40 minutes and watched as the employees just looked past us and helped people walking in without appointments before us. I felt ignored and unvalued. I finally had to ask if they had forgotten about us only to be told oh your salesman was just calling you even though I was standing 10 feet away. While going over the paperwork it felt as if the management viewed very lowly of me because they kept telling the salesman if I didnt pay the down payment today I couldnt have the car. I did not like the pressure they were putting on me even though I loved the car and had every intention of taking it home with me that day. Ultimately because of the unproffesionality of one of the managers we decided to take our money and purchase a car elsewhere. It looked like they treated everyone else great though, so Im left to wonder what it was about me to have them treat me so poorly.

Bought a 2019 Avalon with only 19500 miles and they told me everything had been checked, including tires. Tell me why it had 2016 weather cracked tires on it? This was at the Carmax in Tyler tx. Sales rep was unfriendly and definitely wouldn’t recommend dealing with that location

Ive never been to a carmax before and the set up is a bit different. The employees were great and very helpful in finding the perfect vehicle for my family. The way their company is set up allows the sales associates to work as a team and to not be pushy, which is different from most car salesmen. It was definitely the best experience Ive had buying a car so far.

I got approved for financing got a car shipped in from Fort Worth and then after 3 timescale being approved and each time they ran my credit it went down. When I got to the dealership they wouldn’t finance. Need to get their stuff together and stop wasting people’s time and messing up their credit scores. I won’t use them again.

Only open from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday for service repairs. That’s not okay. I work from 8am-5pm. Good dealerships have Saturday availability for repairs!

Worst customer service..rude as hell

The transfer from Houston was easy. The person we dealt with seemed inexperienced. We requested Army tags, brought in the necessary paper work for that. The tags arrived the other day and they are regular tags. The person we dealt with asked too many questions on why we wanted the car. Didnt feel it was his business. He had to get supervisors to help with some of the transactions. I would buy from them again but not the person that waited on us.

The service was great. The car, a mini Cooper, has now been brought back to be worked on 3 times now. I just put my first tank of gas in it. The miles I have put on it was driving it back and forth to them to go back in the shop. The check engine light keeps coming on, sometimes before I even get it back home. Im beginning to think we have a lemon!

This was my second vehicle to purchase from CarMax. The first vehicle I purchased from the Garland location and my newest vehicle was purchased from the Tyler location. Requested that a car be bought in for test drive and possible purchase, the wrong color (though a nice color) was bought in with exact features and mileage. I made the purchase another guy helping us this time, when we returned that’s who closed our sale, Jordan nice enough people But I was not even asked about my picture with the bow, this Jeep was a gift I bought for all my hard work and no picture with CARMAX no bow so I said well maybe cause it was dark. I Call back the next day even text the salesperson. I never heard back thru phone call or text.*NEVER* Also the waiting area is always just nasty.. There is NO complimentary drinks offered and you are there a long time, Regardless if you have cash or go thru your bank or do any pre qualifying on line. Not our 1st time at CARMAX, 6 th car bought from them 1st time in TEXAS. They do get your plates to you thru the.mail So no hassle at the DMV

I finally took a look at CarMax online, and spotted a nice car that was decently priced. So I decided to make an appointment to look at it in person. I bought a 2015 Ford Escape with 78k miles on October 17. On october 31 my transmission went out. They did replace the transmission. The process was not as smooth as they advertise but it did get replaced at no cost to me and they did provide me with a rental. It took 2.5 weeks to replace.Update 12/20/2020 check engine light is now on. 😒

I had a GREAT experience but not so much with my car. Something is wrong with the front end. It only shakes when it sits overnight and you drive it the next morning! I took it in and was told it drives perfect, but it does not. Other than this issue all is well, but I just know some months down the line it will be something and I will be stuck with a huge bill.

The people here are amazing, very friendly and helpful. Made quick work of finding the car for us. We did have some problems with the lender company because it was our first time buying a car and we didnt have the best credit and we just moved. With a few phone calls to the lender company made by the sales associate we were able to buy our first car!

Sales was very helpful in the purchase of a Toyota Tacoma, only concern we have is couple weeks after purchase we noticed tires had dry rot, took truck to tire shop they concluded that dot showed tires to be 6 years old with dry rot, this brings concerns because carmax has a mutli point check on vehicles since this was overlooked it cost $783 for purchase of new tires, always have had good experiences with carmax this is the 4 th vehicle we have purchased, just disappointed with someones lack to properly inspect tires, should have been a no brainier for a certified technician .
