If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Upsetting that a potential customer walks in, nobody greets them and you walk around for 20 mins and nobody asks if you need anything. Yet people whom come after you get greeted and ask if they need anything. I walked up to the counter and nobody acknowledged me, basically had to step in and say I’ve been here waiting for help…and while you’re trying to talk to the guy at the counter, the other co-workers bring up other customers for them to ring out. Buyers beware.

Was told after agreeing on a price for a long gun I couldnt buy it because I am not a Virginia resident. The law states if you have a valid identification, and pass a background check, you can legally buy a long gun and shot gun anywhere in the United states of America!! I was told the reason why I wasnt allowed was because the owner said no... thanks for wasting my time...

Been here twice, both times treated like I didnt belong there. The first time I walked around the store twenty minutes without even being acknowledged. Even though the people that came in after me were. Few months later decided to try it again and the exact same thing. I ended up being the only customer in the store with 4 employees walking around, and STILL not acknowledged. I had to approach the guy at the register, and he acted like I was bothering him. And after I asked my question, he gave me the most condensending and vague answer that I could have answered myself. He wasnt even trying to help. I just walked out. I will NEVER go back.

Theres a young kid that works in here, very knowledgeable and knows his stuff. He greeted me and answered all my questions about AR-15s while the heavy set older gentlemen sat there and read the paper. Kid looked like he was still in HS but could tell you everything about any gun.

I was reading the comments here and there were a lot of comments about poor customer service so I was kind of worried going in but they were amazing!! Richard went above and beyond to help us understand the guns we were looking at and was very helpful!! They were busy but they were very helpful. Definitely will be going back here for any other purchases in the future!!

The older, larger gentleman made it plainly clear I was not welcome there. 1) intentionally ignored me and greeted a second group that had come in after me after I had been standing there for ten minutes in front of him. The second group had to correct him. 2) still didn’t acknowledge or offer to help me. I had to tell him why I was there. 3) ignored my questions. 4) ignored me being going out of my way to be polite. 5) made sarcastic comments on my way out. Maybe it was what I look like or maybe he took offense at me wearing a mask for his protection. Even though I happen to be active duty, and think I’ve earned the right to not be treated like I “don’t belong here”, No one should be treated in this manner. This seems to be every bit your stereotypical non-welcoming gun shop. Beware.

They had an organized and laid back atmosphere. Good selection of handguns, rifles and all ammo. Great prices on magazines too. Ill continue to come here regularly.

I have purchased several NFA items through The Armory. Each experience has been profession and courteous with various employees. Pat is exceptionally knowledgeable and a great guy to speak with in general. The Armory is my goto shop for Pro 2A items.

This place is great Brian there is very knowledgeable straight to the point for those people who said they waited 15 minutes or more is fast. I went to Freed-- and they had a 2 hr wait and you had put to your name on a list that half the staff didnt follow. Thanks Brian and staff I hope you guys get a break soon.

This is not the first time I went to this store but my experience this time has been typical of every previous visit. No one greets customers when they enter the store. The one person who asked me if I needed help almost instantly became condescending when I started asking about 223 ammo. (apparently he traded all his ARs for AKs and now those of us who enjoy our ARs are beneath him?). I even showed him a picture of a rifle I built that I am proud of... His response was Why? and That looks like a picture straight out of nightmare guns... Words to the wise about customer service, if a customer shows you something they are proud of, dont dismiss it to their face. Needless to say, I walked out without buying anything. I will not be back.

I bought a gun while living in Chesapeake, VA. When I went in the first time the older gentleman talked to me about the Sig I was looking for. He informed me that I would need a VA license before I could purchase, I had recently moved to the are and still had WV license. Once got my license I could purchase. My Wife went in to buy the gun for me as a Christmas gift. Instead they told her it would be best to get a Gift Certificate and allow me to choose the gun. We went back in and I spent time with him and he helped me choose the right gun for me, not the Sig I originally wanted but another Sig. Great experiences the first few times. I did notice on subsequent visits that they seemed less friendly and not interested in helping. I kept stopping in and it just got worse. I moved away and it seems that most gun shops are that way.

I just can’t say enough about this place! Everyone was as equally helpful as they were knowledgeable. My brother and I had a slew of questions about NFA related items and these guys know their stuff inside and out. Great to see a local business staying busy during such a hectic time. -Mike

I had to wait 15 minutes before even being acknowledged since no employee greeted me when I entered. Wanted to ask a few questions about a pistol before I purchased as I have purchased from them before. I continued to wait and finally just went to an employee only to be greeted with disinterest and lack of customer service. Wouldnt recommend them unless they are the only place you can get to. Ive since gone to Superior and made my purchase with no issue . The employees there are fantastic and can answer any question .

One of a kind gun store! On my last visit I witnessed a young man come in shopping for a handgun for his wife. Instead of selling him something, they told him to figure out what caliber his wife was comfortable shooting and come back with her. So they could make sure her new weapon is a good fit, Ensuring that she would be happy. These are the kind of folks I love dealing with and so should you. BTW they also have Blue Label weapons only available to military and Law Enforcement. Check this place out.

Great Experience in this shop. I just picked up a Rock Island 1911 from them. Everything was smooth. The waiting is just a little longer because of how much bussiness they get. Price is great too, they priced priced match from their website too. 👌

I honestly think the staff is paid to ignore people and whereas someone answers some of these comments, its pretty clear that the owner/manager cannot control the staff of useless souls that do their dead-level best to demonstrate near a hostile environment inasmuch as they apparently are paid to ignore or treat badly the patrons that shop here.Wont be back unless feeling overly on top of the world so I can be brought down a few notches by the complete and utterly useless staff and a manager/owner too incompetent to figure out your staff REALLY NEEDS TO BE MORE ATTENTIVE TO SHOPPERS.Wont be back. So I have ordered a couple of firearm transfers to the store and one I have been waiting for arrived about 3 hours ago and they still havent processed it yet but she said for an extra 25 dollar fee they would drop everything and get it done her exact words. They have the most rudest people working there they act like all they get are people bugging them all the time she made me feel bad for even calling them and asking about the pistol needless to say this will be my LAST visit to the store I have Gale Force Guns a little farther away but at least the people there act like there happy you came in.

Love these guys and gals! Technically The Armory is 15 minutes out of my way, but I return to them over and over because of their knowledgeable staff and professional atmosphere. They are truly students and teachers of the gun. I started going to The Armory when I was new to owning firearms and they always had time to explain the simplest of things. The macho, for men only attitude does not exist here. Whether you are a long time gun enthusiast or just getting into the gun community, start at the The Armory for all things guns! Extremely knowledgeable. I brought an antique Remington 30 .06 Springfield 1906 to them (100 years old) to get a value and rating. Great staff. Very nice people. I learned a lot. They have a huge selection of firearms and accessories also. I recommend to beginners and experts alike to check them out.

I have bought guns and accessories from you in the past and most of the experiences were frustrating and the last few times I tried to give you my business ( convenient location ) I was ignored ....no one looked at me .... i was invisible. Today a nice lady behind the counter greeted me and wanted to help but couldnt hand me the gun for some reason ??? had to wait for another staff to become available. so I said well I will grab some gun scrub and ask about some ammo. I was once again ignored, well one guy looked at me but in no way shape or form did he acknowledge me. I stood there in disbelief for a few minutes and left. You should read these reviews and give your staff some coaching on the personal aspect of the business, they could be the best in the business and have the best price and I will still go where I am recognized as a valued customer. Customer service is always bad. I’ve been to this store off & on over the past 20 yrs. Every time I stop by, I swear that I’m never coming back. I probably haven’t been in the store in over a year, but decided to stop in to buy a box of ammo while out doing other errands. Firgured I’d be in & out in a couple of minutes. After standing at the counter for about 10 mins, I walked out without ever being acknowledged. There were two gentlemen in the process of conducting firearm sales (which I understand is a process) & a third gentleman running around the store. To not even be acknowledged to me is a terrible way to run a business. I’m not generally one to complain let alone write a negative review & I’d be willing to give the benefit of doubt if this had been a one time thing but sadly every time I’ve ever stopped by I’ve been an inconvenience to the staff at the store. I am adamant that I will NEVER be shopping at The Armory again.

Good service and good prices. Recently special ordered a shotgun and the process was very smooth. They called me when it arrived and it was exactly what I ordered. I cant understand why people say they are rude. They are almost always busy, they always acknowledge you and let you know theyll be right there.

They didnt have the gun I wanted in stock, Ruger brand, but the staff was more than happy to order it for me. I told the a price quote from a bigger shop and they gave me there honest opinion about what I should do. I decided on the bigger gun shop because they had it in stock, but the armory was helpful and friendly, will always check with them before purchasing any new firearms.

I have been in this store many times and they have the best prices on ammo in town. You can also find good deals on guns here. Most of the staff is very friendly, but there is one or two older guys that can come off very rude. I have learned to not talk to to them unless i have to. If you are a first time customer and end up with rude guy it can turn a customer off from ever returning to the store. If you end up with someone else and get the friendly service, you will be a repeat customer guaranteed. They also have so great prices on guns. They do consignment and deal with ATF stamp items. If you plan on buying any kind of tax stamp item, COME HERE!!!! and use the kiosk.

Ive purchased two firearms from here on separate occasions. The staff is willing to help and quite knowledgeable. If youre looking to buy a firearms the staff gets you through the process as efficiently as possible. They also have great prices on ammo, especially in bulk, and have a great assortment of accessories and parts.

Firstly,Im not a gun guy. I picked this place for an online shipment as it was on my daily travel route. I know these places may seem intimidating but things turned out well. While waiting for my background check, Mr. Rogers and I had a very good conversation. The staff and clientele were multicultural. Not the NRA stereotypes some might imagine. The prices must be good as I overheard a customer rave about how much better the prices were compared to some other places...at least for the ammo. CHECK IT OUT

I have shopped here for 4+ years and bought several firearms as well as several thousands of dollars worth of ammunition. Years ago the service was shady at best and it has only gotten worse! I havent been nearly a year and upon returning this last week i went to shop around. They were RUDE! They were condescending!!!!! I explained to the guy behind the counter that i was a loyal customer but it made no difference. Their ammunition is almost 200$ over internet prices and their firearms stock and quality has gone down hill. I know a lot of demand tends to do that to gun shops, but that give the staff no right to price gouge ammo, mags, and firearms. I thought BOBS was bad....stay away!

I was more than put off after seeing a man receive courteous customer service while he looked at a rifle but when I looked at one and was greeted with Do you even know what youre looking at there. miss? I had an issue with a malfunctioning brand new rifle I purchased at the Armory. I was disappointed with the manufacturer telling me it would be a min of 10 weeks to get it repaired or replaced. Patrick and the staff were understanding of my disappointment and decided against store policy to give me a replacement and take my previously purchased rifle back. I was extremely happy with the staffs decision to give me replacement and I got to go shoot my new rifle last weekend with no operational issues.

Customer service on the phone is lacking.

Ive walked in to The Armory a half dozen times hoping to be acknowledged and given some assistance at the gun counter or with the ammo behind the counter. Unfortunately, I was ignored every time but once and that time I asked for a price, guy said hold on, let me check and the proceeded to do everything but check on the price. I walked out all 6 times empty handed. They havent tried to earn my business nor will they take money when I all but throw it at them. Needless to say, I got to DOA arms now where the customer is first and they make you feel welcome.

First time visiting their store today. I was excited to check out a new local gun shop. Trying to find a store that I can shop at regularly. As I walked in, I was not greeted whatsoever, which is whatever. Its not that important I suppose. The first person I spoke to was a part timer who was very friendly and eager to help. I could tell he liked to be there. The rest of the staff....not so much. They seem cranky and disinterested in talking to customers. I mentioned that it was my first time visiting in hopes of possibly getting better service. I have never felt awkward in a store before, never had an employee make me feel like I need to leave. I will say this however, they have really great prices and can find better prices than most other places. They have a decent selection as well. Unfortunately, numbers arent all that matter to me. Id pay more for a better experience honestly. If you know exactly what you want/need run through this place like a 7-11 store. If you have any questions or a polite interested staff, go somewhere else. They will most likely not be receiving anymore business from myself. Not even as an FFL.

Military surplus ammo by the caseload, excellent selection, great prices, friendly and knowledgeable associates- I dont really go anywhere else, because The Armory almost always has what I need. The only thing I find that they are in short supply of is revolvers.

Called in about getting nite sights installed, told them I would be there shortly as Im driving from Norfolk. After waiting for quite some time in the show room I was informed my nite sights probably would not be installed that day. Why couldnt they have told me that before I drove 30 minutes? I can understand why some people dont want to buy from them anymore, but I had a great buy. I ordered a S&W M&P Tactical and it came in on time and the price could not be beaten by anyone else. My rifle was in mint condition and I would buy from them again! They can seem rude at times, but they dont get a cut of what they sell so they could care less if you buy something or not. Been there several times and purchased several items. For the most part the staff receive a D for customer service. There was one exception, a young guy who helped my son while purchasing a revolver. The other staff acted like we were bothering them and were arrogant. The straw that pushed me to take my business elsewhere was the down-right rudeness received by my son about two weeks ago when he went in to ask about clips for his M1 Garand. So, instead of going to The Armory, I found a delightful neighborhood gun shop (Battlefield Guns) where I was able to spend $500+. Ill never go back to The Armory!

I have shopped here for years. Staff is rude and incompetent. After stopping by for a second time to pick up an order I placed, they apparently still hadnt brought it over from the warehouse because he didnt have room in his car. He had brought boxes of mags instead of a customers order that had been paid for.They asked me to come back a third time and assured me they would have it that time. I just told them to ship it to me. I dont have time for their incompetence. They occasionally have good prices on ammo which brings me back, but I still recommend taking your business elsewhere if you can. I clearly need to do the same.
