First visit was in the summer. Common Grounds have good quality coffee. I had a mocha mint latte which was rich and not overly sweet. The place is quite cozy for college students. I bought a bag of Guatemala Las Flores to take home.Going back the second time last evening in the fall. I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. I had the matcha latte and brought home a pumpkin spice latte. Both were delicious. The best part is that I could still got a glimpse of college life without all the deadlines from school assignments!
If you’re passing through Waco you can’t afford to miss this local and student favorite coffee shop. Located just steps from campus, there’s rarely a time where this place isn’t bustling with students trying to get their caffeine fix before, between, or after class. The cowboy coffee will forever hold a special place in my heart, but I occasionally switch things up for a delicious chocolate Florentine or matcha latte. Skip the drip coffee if you’re in it for the flavor, this is a blend that’s not worth writing home about. Common grounds is definitely worth a stop on your next trip through Waco!
Hate that I am having to leave a negative review. Coffee was great! Atmosphere was great also. RUDE baristas. I went with my family today 9/11 around 4:30pm. The cashier was very nice and he took great care with my order. I ordered all iced drinks and the lady said laughingly So you would like it to be like a Starbucks? And then as I watched them make my drinks she shook her head and the other girl laughed with her. I will never be back! Management should look at the schedule and address the immature employees lack of professionalism.
NO BULL! LITERALLY! This review probably wont matter since they really cater to the needs of baylor students, but here is my take. They are easily one of my favorite coffee places of all time. If you like Starbucks, maybe this place is not for you. They have one the best Ethiopian blend, and combined with their secret sauce, its just magnificent. It was smooth, just right amount of sweet and creaminess, and right amount of nutty. Probably will go to this place on a daily basis if I live in Waco. They have a cozy place too, and occasionally, live music. Yea, very nice!
Great place for coffee. I was passing through town and needed a place to work for a few hours. Free wifi. Friendly staff. Lots of seating options. Near the Baylor campus so lots of students studying and chatting. Very relaxed and friendly environment!
I accidentally hit the 3 stars but this place is definitely a 5 star place. Great coffee and staff. Love the coffee. Cant be beat
We are here from out of state. We found this place on-line on 8-15-21. It was 8 a.m. and it said it was open. In the middle of a downpour we went across town to find this place. We get there only to discover that it is closed for remodeling. Two other people came running up in the rain to discover the same thing. It would really be a good idea if you updated your website and put that you are closed for remodeling.
Cute little Waco coffee shop. Loved the atmosphere. Staff made me an iced coffee instead of hot and when I let them know, the cashier sighed and rolled her eyes and did not offer to remake it. It made an enjoyable initial experience lackluster. We wont be back.
This is one of those places you have to visit if you come to Waco. It has the most cozy interior, lots of places to study, read, or just relax, and of course the drinks are great. Such a great college atmosphere, and the backyard area is an awesome space as well! You also have to visit Heritage Creamery next door if you are in the area!
This coffee shop almost made me wish I went to Baylor! I loved the vibe of the shop and the variety of seating options, and the drinks were fantastic as well. They were easily some of the best drinks Ive ever had at a coffee shop. I got the Meltdown and my girlfriend got the Caramel Coffee Crunch. I highly recommend if youre stopping through Waco, especially because its right off the interstate!
Super funky coffee shot near the campus. We first saw it on Fixer Upper and wanted to visit while in Waco. It didnt disappoint. It looks like they have live music on the outdoor stage at night. The coffee was great and pastries were tasty. Everyone was very friendly. I will visit again next time Im in town, for sure.
Such a neat space! Very cozy and welcoming. They guy that took my order was super nice and had no trouble explaining and recommending coffee to me.I ended up getting a No Bull, with 1/3 of the sweetener (I don’t like super sweet coffee) - it is super good!!I would definitely recommend stopping here: good coffee, good vibes. They have a great outdoor space to enjoy your coffee. 👍🏻
Yummy coffee! Their chai latte was amazing! Drive thru was very quick as well especially considering how busy they were. Not too expensive either like some other stand alone coffee shops. Would definitely come here if you’re a coffee lover!
Good.coffe place good atmosphere and price is about average very good atmosphere not the typical corporate type.place
Such a great vibe! Whenever Im in Waco I always stop by.
Used to love stopping to grab a coffee when driving through Waco. Iced coffees were terrible. Very watery. Hope it was just an off day.So sad.
My favorite spot for a quick espresso! The people who work here make the vibe for me and Im thankful for them!
My wife and I love Common Grounds. We dont live in or near Waco, but when we come through town, we always try and make it a point to stop in for coffee.
Tried to hit common grounds today after work because i just moved to the area and i loooooove little local coffee spots. however, unless i was blind, there is like, NO parking at all even remotely near this place? I was so stressed out from the lack of clear direction and parking and also the sheer amount of construction/closed roads that i turned around after 10 minutes of trying to find somewhere to park. i didn’t even get to try the coffee. :(
Im watching your episode in Fix+Upper! Nice couple and nice coffee shop. Im going to enjoy your coffee if I come to Waco!
Great place to have your coffee ☕ and spend some time in the evening after a days hard work. The staff is super friendly. They have places inside as well as outside to sit & do your stuff.
Cute coffee shop with lots of drink options. They had a lot of people working so even though it was a busy Sunday afternoon I didnt have to wait too long for my coffee. Lots of places to sit and they have this cute enclosed space on the side that was built around trees.
Aside from the awkward approach to the drive thru due to construction... quick friendly service, good flavor, decent prices and sizes. Thanks for the 6-shot pick-me-up! Didnt ask about food, but they do serve cafe items, it seems.
Nice vibe in this eclectic, rustic hangout. Several nooks make more private feeling and a good place to relax. But I wasnt impressed with the drinks. We had 3 and all of them missed the mark. The 4-shot frozen cap was more sugar than coffee. The Mexican hot chocolate was more milk than chocolate. And the ginger chai was insipid.
The coffee was quality, so I hate to leave a negative review, but the service was very rude. My fiancée ordered a flat white for me, and the barista criticized the order and said, “Like the one at Starbucks? We can only do a cappuccino.” I think it goes without saying that an employee in a service position should not diminish a customers choice in order; it’s highly unprofessional. The situation is worsened by the fact that they refused to make the requested item, despite it being a fairly popular espresso drink. I urge ownership to stress the importance of the relationship between customer and employee, especially in an establishment like a coffee shop.
Great coffee, staff and a fun and funky place to visit that SO is not Starbucks!
One of my favorite places to curl up and do homework for a few hours!
Great quality coffee and a beautiful place to sit! Ideal for studying, hanging out, or just popping in for a great cup of coffee.
Good coffee, a large is about the size of a medium or Starbucks Venti. The college vibe is definitely to be expected for across the street from the Baylor campus. I recommend the specialty with crunch.
Such a beautiful coffee shop with a ton of vintage, flea market character! Friendly service too. The Secret Sauce seems a little gimmicky and Im not sure Im sold on it, but it doesnt seem like its instant coffee syrup or something.
Amazing coffee.. nowhere to park.. sketchy drive threw. Youd think coffee was illegal the way I took to get there.
Great coffee! Great atmosphere! Super cool place!
Always an excellent place to unwind and talk. Miss the extended hours on weekends.
This place is perfection. The coffee is legit. They have all manner of coffee drinks from the sweet to the highly charged and caffeinated. They have cozy spots inside to chat or read or study, a patio with mismatched chairs and tables of all sorts, and a backyard complete with a stage. I attended the Gungor concert there recently, and it was wonderful. The venue proved to be cozy and quaint. I felt like I was in Gungor‘s yard jamming with them. There are a few seats out there, but it is mostly standing room only. The acoustics are nothing fancy, but the simple feel was just right. There is parking out back. This place is a Waco classic.
Great hole in the wall spot with amazing coffee and very friendly staff, I highly recommend checking it out.
Been waiting years to go,did not disappoint. Loved the atmosphere.
Quintessential college coffee shop. They were out of oat milk, so I tried the hemp milk and it was really good!
The outside dining area was not as clean but the place seemed nice.
Great atmosphere with plenty of places to sit both inside and outside. Obviously a popular place for students to study, but I wouldnt mind going there to relax and hang out with friends. I ordered the Hot No Bull; the secret sauce was good and the baristas were pretty friendly. For fans of the TV show Fixer Upper, its a nice stop while visiting Waco. They also have a permanent location inside of the Magnolia Market grounds if you dont want to venture away from that area.
Has a great variety of shops, for any kind of product or service youre looking for, itll easy to find the right place. Easy to park. Convenient located at downtown Waco.
Cool college coffee house
Probably the worst vanilla latte I’ve ever had :(
The Italian soda called the 254 was great
First time here. It was pretty busy and didnt have a ton of staff but the coffee was really unique! Pricey but its also an iconic Waco venue so you pay for that too.
Nice people, nicer vibe!
Great drinks, nice atmosphere, and very friendly staff.
Best Folgers Iever had.
Always gotta stop by every time I drive by Waco! The white fang is the goat! The service is impeccable and the drinks are amazing! Love the ambiance and everything about it
We love this space❣
Nice coffee shop, but the lack of prices on the menu is very annoying to me. I dont want to have to ask!
Really cute shop, filled with college students, with indoor and outdoor seating, lots of comfortable seating, looks like a great menu and a fun place to hang out and study. Ordered a Spicyiced chai latte and unfortunately did not take a sip of it until already on the road. It was watery and had almost no flavor, basically tasted like milk with some simple syrup. Could not drink it. I looked at the cup and it did say spicy chai. My daughter ordered the Mexican hot chocolate which was fine. It was not really Mexican hot chocolate, but still a good regular hot chocolate with some cinnamon. Still glad we stopped by because I love to try local, unique coffee shops. Hopefully your coffee is better and this was an off day.
The coffee is amazing
They are closed for repairs despite their online hours.
Favorite coffee place. Not just in Waco but anywhere
Service and atmosphere are good for college age. I found the coffee to be a bit bitter.
