Cool place and the latte tasted great but it was cold and the tea was not what was ordered. I suggest that you listen carefully to what the customer orders and dont guess. But my number one suggestion is that you heat the ceramic mug before you put coffee on it...a basic good coffee shop practice.
Went for after dinner drinks. There are 3 areas with different vibes. We chose upstairs on the patio which had a nice view (FYI 2 flights of stairs). It was evening so not to hot, there were also fans if you prefer to be outside during the daytime. Main level in the front there’s a traditional coffee shop area and in the back, just past the bar, there’s a electronic free area with nice ambiance. This is a great place!
Nice relaxing atmosphere. Have a dimly lit inside with an upclass feel for the area. Also has a nice patio upstairs cooled with fans. Drinks are more pricey than others but if youre coming here you are probably not looking for a beer off a factory line.
Cool vibes! But unfortunately the temp of my hot latte matched them…I’m not particularly a fan of luke warm coffee. But now I know to ask for it extra hot if I’m ever in Waco again!
My wife and I are regulars here. We love the coffee and drinks at the Dichotomy. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. We always feel like family when we go.
Environment good for enjoy coffee every morning, suitable for people want relax or study university.
An iced coffee is great way to start your day, and Dichotomy really nailed it for me. Literally a coffee bar, the setup is something I havent seen before. It really felt like a nice place to meet up with friends and have a chat about which Covid vaccine you got, or how long you think Mike McCarthy will remain the head coach. Whatever your into.Great staff and very clean seating area. They were friendly to a dummy like me when I asked what the heck an Americano was and didnt laugh at me when I told them I wanted to grow my own coffee beans. So thats a plus.
I always love coming here when Im visiting. Its the kind of place Id come to regularly, but its nice at least that a few times out of the year Im able to come back.I remember being impressed (still am) by the idea that this place was a combination of coffee shop and a bar. Ive gone to another place *kind-of* like this, but not quite done in the fashion that Dichotomy has. The combination and the split between two is done seamlessly.Theres a whole aesthetic regarding the layout and design. Its kind of classy, kind of vintage, while also just being easy going. The atmosphere in itself is very easy going too. From the people who sit to the people who work here. Its comfortable. The seating, literally is, too. They have different types of sitting places that start from the outside going all the way to the back near the hall that lead to the bathrooms. They also have an upstairs area you can sit in too.Street parking is available near and right outside the shop. Ive yet to see metered parking. The street area on the side of the shop does have a time limit, but its of two hours. Thats a pretty good while.I have yet to talk about the drinks. I havent really explored drinks here. Ive drank the tea a bit, but mainly I get what I tend to get at most places which is a mocha latte. In the future Ill try to explore and see how I feel about others. If youre wondering, they have tasted great.
THE best coffee I have ever had, seriously. The employees were kind and knowledgeable. The coffee was fresh and delicious. Originally I wanted to try other coffee shops to try a variety in Waco, but I kept coming back because of how amazing the coffee was. If your visiting, look no further!
Open and lots of room but the coffee wow can we say over priced and underwhelming? Won’t be back! Better coffee elsewhere in town! This is Waco not Los Angeles!
Stopped by here for some tea and drinks during happy hour after dinner at Rudys. The place itself is super cozy and welcoming. The interior is modern and has that rustic industrial sense to it.Chai latte was just amazing and ginger scone was as fresh as it can get. Happy hour selection is reasonable and our waitress was very good. Will definitely come back when next time on the area.
A great place to drink coffee and then transition into some world class cocktails! Amazing rooftop space, too!
Love the place it was nice, clean. The people were very friendly. It was my first time going there, my daughter told me about it said she really liked it. I didnt know what to order they made suggestions so, so I just went with it. I had a blueberry muffin and a Girl Scout coffee with the cookie. They have a different variety of things, you can sit outside, inside and even on the rooftop. I definitely recommend this place!! Like I said 2 of the employees were super sweet and nice!!! 😊😊
Such a funky, fun, and laid back spot. Love that the coffee shop is in the front and the bar is in the back; and that they have happy hour on the weekends. I grabbed a quick peppermint latte here with almond milk. Super smooth and easy to just sip on. The top was made into a heart and sprinkled with real peppermint flakes that made me so happy!I love that everything is handmade and time is really taken to craft each drink. The staff were super nice and made me feel welcome, so I definitely will be back when I am in Waco again!
Visiting from Houston. Had the Honey Lavender Latte. Really flavorful and not too sweet. Beautiful place. We be coming back when Im in town.
Enjoyed a Honey Lavender Latte on the front patio. Lovely experience! Thank you.
Great coffee place, had the roof to myself all morning. The pour over and cortado are great, I’d come back and would recommend to others.
Stopped for coffee and breakfast, excellent on both. Breakfast tacos and locally (I assume) baked muffins, scones, monkey bread...
Great coffee spot with large indoor area and also small outdoor space at the front that we were able to sit at with our puppy. Coffee itself was great. Id rate it highly and we came back again the next day. Service was a little slow and Id suggest an extra staff member could maybe help with the coffee making at the weekend. They were rather detailed in the making though and no one seemed to mind the queue too much.
Good coffee. Nice place. Nice decor and signage outside and in. Very spacious and open. I would give four stars since they werent so good at cleaning our table from the half-eaten muffins of the previous guests, but we enjoyed our brief stay to do a little work before visiting friends nearby. But the niceness of the place made up for it. Five stars.
Wow wow wow……….. don’t have words to express my feeling after drinking the sip of the coffee. The aroma and nutty earthy flavor of the coffee was awesome. I can drive from Dallas for this coffee. I am going to visit this place again.
Is there anything better than a lavender oat milk latte from Dichotomy? No.I enjoy supporting this place. They connect with the local community/local nonprofit organizations, they have good coffee, promote a fun atmosphere, etc. The employees are really nice! Dichotomy is the perfect halfway stop between Austin and Dallas, too! 😉The only drink I think they could improve upon is the cold brew. Maybe the concentration was off the day I tried it.
Best baristas anywhere! I love my nieces Liz and Rach, always take gr8 care of me selecting the best goodies and drinks for us!
Every time we pass through Waco we stop at Dichotomy. The coffee is wonderful and the cocktails are straight up Harry Potter magical. Sure you can order a vodka cranberry if that’s your safe space. If you are more adventurous and want to experience heaven in a glass, then let Dichotomy’s bartenders work their craft. From the Black Betty to the Hammer of the Gods to the Moroccan Dust Storm, you will not be displeased. The Waco home spirit is Balcones, which rivals its Kentucky and Tennessee cousins and Dichotomy is masterful in crafting custom cocktails from Balcones’ wonderful bourbons and whiskies. You MUST stop here, strike up a good conversation and enjoy the magic.
Love this spot! Amazing coffee, great bartenders, and a nice view of town hall from the deck. I recommend this for anyone who wants chill vibes and a great place to relax!
Cool vibe, but our coffee drinks were both tepid. Had to take them back to the hotel and microwave.
If you want coffee, tea and alcohol all in the same place, look no further. Personally, I always get a pot of tea (recommend the White Peach tea) and sit in the back to study or write essays. If I come with friends, we usually go in the evening, grab a specialty cocktail at the bar then go up to the balcony an relax. They tend to find nice jazz musicians to play live too if you want to enjoy the local music scene. Prices are a bit high though, so find what you like and stick to it if you want to come often. Makes a cute coffee date location in addition to a good studying place.
Amazing coffee! Probably the best in Waco.
Dichotomy always rocks... Excellent service!
Tiny cup of ok coffee for $4 and the greasiest breakfast taco... seriously the torilla was translucent due the oil. $9 bucks I wish I could get back...Though the Barista was talented and it was pretty. The cashier was not helpful and rude.
This is a top notch coffee house. Great drinks and ambiance. Love the rooftop seating.
This place is a must try! Everyone was very friendly. The seasonal bluebonnet is made with homemade blueberry simple syrup and was fantastic!
We went on a Sunday morning and absolutely loved their iced lavender latte with oat milk. 🤤 Definitely check out their fab rooftop area!
The barista makes excellent pour over coffee
Great place to sit down for a couple drinks during a quick meeting.
We ordered two drinks. We both didn’t like the taste. Irish Creme and Snickerdoodle. And unfriendly staff and the tiny size cup! Never again!!! I could have got double the amount of drinks at Starbucks for the same price. Not worth the drive.
Such a neat concept and exceptional service. I will definitely return to this location.
I SO look forward on Saturdays to get down to Dichotomy and then on to the Farmers Market...its my weekend thing! You guys are so welcoming and I really appreciate that I can bring in outside food!
Honestly I think people mainly go here for the vibe and to be with friends. For a coffee place their coffee ranks really low on taste but that can just be a preference of what I like.
One of the best bars in town!
Absolutely love the space, amazing concept to serve as bar and coffee shop in one space. The roof deck is definitely a cool feature to have that distinguishes this coffee/bar place to other coffee shops in Waco. Big and accommodating, definitely did not feel overcrowded because its so roomy and comfortable. Coffee was good and barista was very friendly, looking forward to visiting again and try other drinks in the menu. Location is great, right in the middle of downtown and just a walk away from other popular places in Waco. Decent parking and street parking available. Very important, they have clean bathrooms. While the coffee shop is roomy and accommodating, I dont think that customers who use wheelchairs can access the roof deck because there is no elevator to go up only stairs.
A really great calm atmosphere to go study at, especially at night. I love the tea and my fiancé as liked every cocktail he’s tried so far. Really a great place to hang out or study
I love their lavender latte! It was worth a trip to Waco after someone recommended Dichotomy to me.
First, the fact that my coffee was prepared at a perfect temp, already won me over! These guys know their craft.Second, the knowledge the cashier had at explaining the taste/notes in the fall drink I chose, was much appreciated. And her customer service was genuine and kind. Also, you can’t help but notice the great fashion style they carry! Kudos! The pumpkin cream cheese muffin was delicious. Try any of their baked goods. The atmosphere was one I can appreciate because there is a space for those who come to socialize and for those who come to cram some studying. I haven’t tried the bar yet, but I’m sure you’ll be satisfied.Definitely one of my favorite spots in Waco!
Delicious cocktails and friendly staff. Cool place to hang out.
Stopped in to this nice coffee shop, and very pleased with the chai tea latte and cappuccino we ordered. The coffee house is set up to accommodate larger groups for studying, making it a great option for local students.
We needed coffee on a road trip and I prefer independent coffee houses to the chains. If you are comfortable going in and waiting a minute for fresh you wont be disappointed. We ordered caramel oat milk latte was a hit!
Cool concept with the coffee shop and cocktail bar in one space. We stopped in here in the morning on a trip down to Austin for a couple cappuccinos to go. The atmosphere clean and welcoming. Several people were already set up at tables studying or visiting. The coffee itself was good, not exceptional. Far better than anything at Starbucks but not quite on par with the top coffee shops in Dallas. They had some interesting coffee combinations that I would definitely return to try, such as espresso mixed with Dr. Pepper.Overall, Dichotomy is certainly worth a try if you are searching for a coffee shop in Waco and its not a far detour off the highway is youre just passing through.
Bad coffee shop, high regulations, restrictions, no customer service, misinformed about covid regarding people with disabilities, no respect to customers privacy!
Next level expresso! Stopped through for a cappuccino on my way to Dallas and glad I did!
Sadly this is an edited review. I think this place is still good but not GREAT anymore. I ordered my fall favorite Irish Coffee and it is now in a small glass and the cream was not hand blended(as it was last time I ordered it). It was in a workout protein shaker. At $10.50 I would no longer consider this a craft drink when the ingredients are premixed. I also will no longer order my fall favorite here :(
Banana bread is amazing!!!! Customer service is great!
Everyone is always really nice. Coffee is great
5 stars for the coffee, but only 3 stars for the spirits. The coffee here is amazing. They sell coffee from many different origins, including some from Mexico, which is one I do not see often. All of it is very good--drip or pour over. The aesthetic is really nice, and it just seems like the place anyone could hang out and work, catch up with friends, or conduct interviews/meetings. There is an outdoor area at the top that looks out over downtown Waco, and it is beautiful!Ive only ever gotten one cocktail from Dichotomy, and I was thoroughly disappointed at how sweet it was. The server clearly knew what she was doing, and so I think it is just the recipe for their old fashioned that is sweeter than any other I have had. Otherwise, they have top-shelf liquor, so its a great spot for a drink. I just dont recommend the old fashioned to regular old fashioned drinkers.
Very nice and inviting place. Enjoyed the upstairs lounge area. The iced coffee was very good.
The cortada with the ethiopian beans was surprisingly good. Very smooth with great flavor. In the past I was disappointed with their espresso ( year or 2) but this was a great experience.
Won’t let you enter without a face covering. Place is empty go figure 🙄
Good coffee. Good to go
The alcoholic drinks are definitely the shining star, but the coffee is great too. Great staff.
