We came here around the time that they opened and they already had people ordering their delicious pastries. The lady at the counter was kind and answered all of my questions. The crack pie was delicious. We came back and tried three cookies and their cereal milk ice cream. The ice cream was raisin Bran flavored. It was so good and very nostalgic. The corn, compost, and the cornflake marshmallow chocolate chip cookies were good. The cornflake one was probably my favorite, but they were all really good.
If you like a mix of sweet and salty Milk Bar might be the place for you!A cute little bar-esque store front that could use more standing room and seems to be continuously busy. Counters don’t seem like they get cleaned often and perhaps many people just get food to go - but the inside can be a bit messy. None of the baked goods are baked in house it seems like they mostly just get shipments and serve those so eh.Milk Bars cereal milk soft serve definitely.... does not taste like cereal milk. It’s creamy and a little salty and oddly savory especially with the added “crunch” topping but I actually really loved that. To others it might be a bit off putting. The birthday cake was very standard funfetti. It came out of a freezer so wasn’t moist and fresh but was still good and the icing was pretty great. Not sure if it was worth the price as really.... it’s just a funfetti cake.Overall would come back for very specific cravings but DC is full of amazing bakeries so this is not my first or second or third choice.
I had heard a lot about Milk Bar. It was an interesting one-time taste. My friend and I shared grasshopper truffles $6/3truffles. They were okay. My friend had come before and prefers birthday cake truffles. The staff was friendly. The store is visually pleasing, but poorly designed for lines. There is very little sitting/standing place. It’s not a bad place, but it’s not quite worth the hype either.
YUM!!! First, let me say that another rating was absolutely ridiculous and dramatic. We had a good laugh over the extreme dramatics.Anyway, the chocolate malt cake is real chocolate. If you’re craving chocolate, not the ridiculously sweet chocolate, this is the perfect slice of chocolate decadence. The crack pie is so good. I was born and raised in Georgia where Chess Pie is a thing at every potluck. Christina’s Crack Pie is on the money. It’s a perfect combination of textures with the crumbly crust and smooth filling along with just enough sugar to remind you of a pecan pie. We also tried the compost cookie, the cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookie, and the blueberry cream cookie. They are all delicious but our favorite is the cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow. It’s sweet with a hint of salt and crunch from the cornflakes. I’m so glad Christina decided to open a Milk Bar in D.C. just in time for our visit. Thank you, Christina, and your wonderful employees who kept the crowd flowing at 10pm!
This place is ok, its tucked away from the main momofuko restaurant so watch for its actual entrance. Once inside it can get cramped fast on a good day. The people are nice but the prices are gnarly. I guess you pay for the branding on top of whatever you order; personally my milkshake tasted like fruity pebbles + milk + white chocolate toblerone bar were blended together. It was good but I dont think Id want to pay that much for it as it amounted to the same as a bowl of cereal with milk and a straw.I probably wont be coming back but you should try it at least once.
AMAZING! Have their crack pie or compost cookie for sure. But who can deny trying their cereal soft serve. You can’t go wrong with anything you have here. Make sure you go on a sunny day though because you’re going to want to sit under the beach balls(or whatever they are for the season) in the alley adjacent and enjoy your tasty treats.
The cereal milk ice cream is nasty. The cookies and cakes are good but expensive for no reason. The cookies are sold in packs of 2 at target, so try those first.
My birthday cake slice was dry as hell. I kept eating it because I spent $9. I am a huge cake snob and I so wanted it to be good. Sadly, it was not. I also do not understand the hype of the corn flake shake either. The milk tasted slightly sour in my opinion. I get that it caters to a different palate, but it left an after taste in my mouth as well. Ugh...
Was really looking forward to this! In town visiting and walked an extra mile to get there... the place is small and not that amazing inside but the treats were yummy. I liked them but 4 stars because it wasnt as amazing as I anticipated. We got ice cream and some cookies. Should have tried the crack pie too....
We were inspired to come here from Netflixs hit show Chefs Table. The menu is limited in whats offered but mostly revolves around this Cereal Milk flavor of desserts including soft serve ice cream, cakes, milkshakes, cookies, and more.My wife got a soft serve ice cream and a slice of a crack pie while I got a large milkshake. For those 3 items our bill came out to $27 (including an optional tip). The soft serve ice cream features a unique taste that includes cornflakes sprinkled on top and below, as you would expect from having a bowl of cereal + milk. The milkshake featured the cornflakes mixed in as well as sprinkled on top.As the flavor is certainly different, I had a difficult time justifying the cost of these 3 items. The milkshake pictured in the attached photo was $9 and was essentially the soft serve ice cream mixed with cornflakes and in a larger cup. Thats the extent of the differentiation between the two items. The corn flakes were rather stale, Im not sure if this is the intention, and often enough would clog the straw. Eventually I find myself spooning out the ice cream with the straw and found that a much more enjoyable experience. Dessert shouldnt cost more than dinner. The location was kind of weird for us. We walked around the block for a little while until we realized that the milk bar is a small space leased from a larger restaurant.Ultimately this will be our first and final visit to the milk bar. We checked the box but the price is excessive for what you get.
If you take the time to read the reviews, you may be hesitant to check this place out. So, let me see if I can sum up my thoughts and opinions to assist you. 1. All of their baked good are shipped for the main store in NYC. So if youre looking for a warm, fresh baked cookies, this is not the place. 2. I found the cereal milk soft serve to taste exactly like the leftover whole milk in a bowl of Frosted Flakes or Captain Crunch. So if youre someone who likes to drink the left over milk in their cereal, than this will be right up your alley. 3. The cookies are decent cookies. The corn cookie is a dense cornbread-shortbread-sugar cookie. Nothing fancy about any of them, but they pair well with a cereal milk soft serve. 4. Prices are what you would expect for a store from NYC in the District of Columbia. Youre not coming here for a cheap cup of soft serve or a $1 cookie. Youre stopping in because you want to try cereal milk, eat a compost cookie, or try a birthday cake truffle from MilkBar. Come in with an open mind and enjoy a novelty treat.
Was really looking forward to going here after seeing the episode of Chefs Table on Netflix. Let me say right up front that the emperor has no clothes when it comes to the Crack Pie. It was fine, dont get me wrong... But I had very high expectations of it (I mean its called CRACK PIE for a reason, allegedly) and really was disappointed with it. I wouldnt bother ordering it again. BUT... the cakes... Wow. The cakes are like nothing else I have ever eaten. Im generally not a big fan of cake, but nothing I have ever had was like this. Just outstanding. And the soft serve is outstanding. This is not your ordinary super sweet Dairy Queen stuff... This is almost buttery... Excellent.
We came all this way, from the UK, for a piece of crack pie.It has been named ‘crack’ pie because it is addictive, allegedly.$6, that’s SIX BUCKS!, just 4 dollars less than TEN DOLLARS!, for a piece that was 5cm/2 inch by 8cm/2.5 inch. That’s my first problem! $6 for a slice! Not the pie!, just a VERY SMALL slice!Secondly, for $6 I was expecting this crack pie, to be the most awesome tasting food experience. It was ‘meh’ at best. I most certainly am not craving another piece. One was sufficient.I wouldn’t recommend this unless they half the price or double the size!
2.5 Stars rounds to 3. I was looking forward to the milk bar. Cool idea but weak execution. Small joint on the corner of s Bldg. No space to sit. Customer service was average. The cereal milk not good. Don’t get it. Actually the ice cream is not good. The truffles are te best part. However it is all ‘prepackaged’ and doesn’t feel or taste fresh. I wouldn’t return here.
After watching Christina Tosis episode on Chefs Table, we had to go. We ate at David Changs CCDC next door before heading over to Milk Bar for some crack pie and milk ice cream. Everything we had was delicious, and as someone who doesnt love sweets, thats a big deal for me to say. Watch the episode before or after you go, but dont skip dessert!
I love the milk bar pie and the milk bar pie ice cream. The cereal milk ice cream was a little too salty for me and the birthday cake tasted off but the employees were insanely friendly and helpful. They let us try the ice cream flavors for free before making our selection. My one negative was the prices are steep.
Very disappointing. As a fellow Baker I feel like this place is a let down. The food is way over priced. I ordered the crack pie and the lady literally grabbed it out of the fridge and tossed it at me. It was hard and cold. The counters are dirty while employees are sitting behind the counter. Such a disappointment..
Ive always been a big fan of Milk Bar desserts and was satisfied with my experience here! Its a fairly small space with areas to sit and stand. The desserts can get very sweet quite quickly, so definitely best suited for those who have a strong sweet tooth. My favorites are the cereal milk soft serve and bday cake truffles. Great place to try for your dessert fix!
Got a cereal shake and slice of birthday cake. The shake tasted fine - my biggest qualm with the shake is the straw. I understand the need to be sustainable and at the same time trendy, but there is a point where youre comprising the quality of your product. Paper straws can work for iced teas and water but for dense drinks like milkshakes its almost impossible to finish the milkshake without the straw collapsing. By the time I had a third of my (baby)shake left, the straw couldnt pull anymore of the milkshake. I had to use the collapsed straw like a spoon. Please look into other alternatives: bamboo straws, maybe sell stainless steel for your rich clients, or you know what, offer a cheap wooden spoon - wouldve worked great to dig for the cereal bits.Anyways, as for the cake, the sweetness was proportionate to the price. The star is solely dedicated to the cashier who kept their cool and handled a 45 minute queue without breaking a sweat. Youre awesome and you deserve better.
I tried the soft serve which was pretty good. I tried both the milk bar pie and the cereal milk with cereal topping. I preferred the cereal milk but if I got it again I would get it without the cereal topping. The milk bar was a really strong flavor. There’s no seating inside but there are some park tables outside if the weather is suitable. I heard the cake pops are good. It was good but was really expensive for ice cream coming in at $7.50 for a small ice cream and one topping.
This store is closed & no longer exists.
The double chocolate cookies were great. The cornflake marshmallow and blueberries n cream were just ok. Definitely packaged cookies. Not a homemade texture at all. The mini birthday cake is not worth 32 dollars. My cake was 85% frosting! Boo! Do better!
This place has an eclectic vibe but it’s small. It got way too up close and personal with the strangers we were waiting in line with. Instead of people waiting outside the door for someone to come out they kept cramming in. We tried all of the cookies and by far the corn cookie is the best!! I wish I would’ve gotten a can of just this flavor. The blueberry was our least favorite.
Hmph...this is like something you do because you’re crushing on a star. And as a foodie, I am. I love watching Christina Tosi on Masterchef Jr. The crack pie was seriously good and I understand the name. It could be an addictive experience. The cookies leave a lot to be desired. The compost cookie was old and hard. And surprisingly, the coffee in it overpowered every other flavor. The confetti cookie was good, but again...a bit stale. And the corn cookie, ugh. We there it in the garbage after one bite. Vini. Vidi. Vici.
I have heard about Milk Bar for years and finally was near enough this Milk Bar Mini to try it out. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! Everything is pre-packaged but they charge you like its some boutique experience. I cannot imagine who in their right mind would ever buy a full cake for over $60 here, but I guess ya gotta do it for the gram.
The cookies are to die for, especially the Compost ones, which are amazing and so original. The cakes also are great and hold up well to traveling and eating over a week.
Their chocolate birthday shake was really good, in my opinion, but their crack pie did not live up to the hype that I thought it did. I had such high expectations and heard great things about the one in New York but when I got here I didn’t realize how small scale of a place it would be. There’s barely room to move around in there. Could’ve been better.
Came here to satisfy my sweet tooth with some cookies. I got the compost cookie and brownie cookie. One was actually opened (make sure you check before leaving!) but when I went back they gave me an extra cookie of my choice for the trouble. The brownie cookie was definitely the best of the two. It had some flavor and didnt taste as packaged but crumbled really easily. The compost cookie tasted like cardboard with zero flavor and was difficult to chew. Would like to try some of their other offerings - maybe the fresh items taste better.
My boyfriend tried the swirl soft serve and thought the flavors were too sweet. I tried the chocolate birthday cake slice and thought it was kind of dry (both the cake and the icing) and way too rich. I wouldnt try it again, but it wasnt bad. Staff was friendly and kept the line moving quickly.
A sweet blend of cereal and soft serve, with a taste of nostalgia and innovation. Petite yet stylish location, as if to manage a combination of an upscale ice cream parlor the city can rally behind. This treat is one of the many reasons to look forward to when in the city.
People just have the wrong expectations. The soft serve is world class. Amazing and creamy. The birthday cake has amazing confetti and creamcheese frosting. The line is for a reason. The reviews are wrong. If you are a child and want sugary ice cream, get the milk bar pie soft serve.Don’t complain that the cereal and milk soft serve is sour or rancid or off that day. It’s not. You have a basic palette.Don’t complain it’s expensive. You’re cheap.
After reading and watching shows about this store, I thought the baked goods would be fresh. It feels and taste more like mass produced baked goods. I got birthday cake truffles, crack pie, four different cookies, a piece of birthday cake and chocolate malt cake. The only thing we finished (family of 5) was the three birthday cake truffles.
This restaurant SMELLS wonderful. Space is bare-bones decor, but interesting and attractive. For the most part, very young crowd (20s - 30s) with Dad and Moms credit cards - did not see any cash transactions.Arrive EARLY, because all the good entrees and specials are gone within 90 minutes. Wait staff is NOT very experienced or sophisticated (like recommending a complementary wine for the course or dinner).Everyone goes crazy here over desserts - like Captain Crunch cereal in your homemade ice cream for $10.00.Noticed an adult harvest table for 8 to 10 persons in the back of the restaurant as well as a private dining room. The staff at the harvest table were more mature, and seemed to be more knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. I saw various wines being served at that table during the courses.Great place for a non-fussy dinner on a Sunday evening!
Btw it’s closed :(
This was so gross!! Could not even drink past the first sip and tossed it. Should have paid attn to the reviews. How do they even have 3.5 stars? It would have been more satisfying to light our $20 on fire. If I could rate 0 stars I would.
I really love their cereal milk soft serve. The truffle cake pop is too sweet for me. The milk pie is a little too sweet as well. The compost cookie is okay. Will just go back for their soft serve stuff and maybe try their milkshakes cus they have cereal milk shakes as well.
This place surpassed my expectations. I was not fully sold on the concept, but after tasting the cereal milk soft serve I was hooked. I had the coffee shake and added hot fudge. It was on the small side, but VERY good. My wife had a sundae and it was also very tasty. Unique concept and a nice change of pace from normal ice cream/milkshake desserts. I hear the line can be very long, but we were served within 5 minutes of walking in even though there were 6-7 people ahead of us.
Visited the city center location today February 6 at 2:44pm for two cakes. All I needed was happy birthday on the two cakes and it’s now 3:35pm and now they are sending my cakes downstairs to be engraved bc they couldn’t take care of it as they(co-workers) both claimed to not know how nor have they ever placed any writings on a cake before. Complete waste of my time.
The cereal milk soft serve was pretty cool, but tasted like a novelty- relatively accurate, but not something you want to keep eating. I recommend trying it just for kicks. The chocolate pretzel soft serve was fairly salty, and add on the salty cornflakes, and the salt level was extreme overkill. I tossed it after a few bites. However, the cake truffle pops were the opposite- sweet as all hell, ridiculously so. But they were tasty.
I was really excited to try the ice cream and see what the hype was all about. I ordered the cereal milk ice cream, and I was seriously disappointed. It was pretty gross. I was looking forward to something sweet, but the ice cream had a very bland flavor and the corn flake crunch was also bland and exceptionally salty—come on something in this needs sugar. It honestly tasted like sweat. I don’t think I will try anything else here again. Looks cute, tastes bad.
The cereal milk soft serve is definitely an experience worth having but honestly the sample they give out is enough to satisfy with its salty sweet taste. I love the cookies though. They’re very good and fun to eat.
We are from Oklahoma and stopped by tonight for dessert. The peppermint shake was made with spoiled milk. Slice of birthday cake was so dry we could not finish it. Please do not eat here! We spent $15 for trash. Come visit Oklahoma and The Pie Junkie or Roxys ice cream for a great dessert. Never have left a negative review before today of any restaurant.
I drove with my family from Virginia to have a taste of these amazing unique desserts all because of Netflix. I saw the documentary on Chefs table everything looked amazing. But I was very disappointed it was by far nothing I expected. We had the crack pie, cereal milk ice cream, chocolate cake and cookies.I guess we are not fans of the sweet and too salty desserts. The cake was extremely dry.It was an experience. But I wont be returning.
Desserts are good, but all the baked goods do not seem very fresh. I would love to try the recently baked version of each of the desserts and not the packaged versions. This is place is over hyped but still very good.
Awesome desserts! Had a milk quake with my wife as well as some cookies. Very tasty, definitely would recommend. Ingredients taste fresh and not overly sugary, menu is pretty easy to navigate but is definitely done right
The only redeeming qualities about this place were the workers. The cookies were flavored horribly and had the texture of dry oat patties. The also some how lacked moisture. How they managed to ruin something as simple as a cookie is beyond me. Dont even get me started on the ice cream. I understand that it is a milk bar, but the taste of the ice cream was not worth the metro trip into the city. You could easily make that at home and even cough up $10 for ingredients. The price points were through the roof as well -- $6 for a piece of pecan pie (without the pecans) the size of metro card is horrendous. BE WARNED.
Very interesting, super small space that usually has a decent sized line crowded in a little glass box. They serve cereal milk ice-cream that literally tastes like the leftover milk from a bowl of cereal, very sweet but maybe not for everyone. The pretzel flavor is also interesting with a sweet and salty taste, I would recommend chocolate sauce with it.
I recently purchased a chocolate malt cake from the Milk Bar for my fiances birthday. I have gone to this location several times to get ice cream, and have enjoyed it every time, even with the high price tag. I purchased this cake on Friday, kept it in the fridge as recommended, then took it out on Saturday an hour or so before serving. The flavor of the filling was good, however I really didnt like the cake itself. It was incredibly dry and crumbly. They clearly didnt use any simple syrup to keep it moist and it tasted like it had been in the refrigerator/freezer for at least a week. I was really disappointed about this, especially because their cakes are $49 for a 6 inch cake, almost double the price as any other bakery (6cakes range in price from $20-$30 at most bakeries). I did stop by to get this cake without ordering ahead, maybe if I did order ahead it would have been made fresh, and I would have gotten the flavor I wanted. This stinks because I was planning on getting the birthday cake one for my birthday next month. I may have to rethink that decision.
I decided to go here because I really wanted ice cream but was too lazy to walk far from our hotel. The service wasn’t bad, my shake was out within 2 minutes (I notice other people haven’t had much luck on that). I ordered a Chocolate malt cake milkshake and it was ok, but I think they must put something in their ice cream because it had a sort of salty after taste. I think having some whipped cream on top would have helped out. The price is a bit higher but in this area of DC, I expected that. Overall, cute decor and worth a try at least once.
I love the unique modern feel of this place and the unique options. I got the compost cookie and unfortunately it didnt really live up to the hype for me. However the blueberry cream cookie was pretty good. The prices are little much, but decent for a place like this that has a lot of publicity/popularity. Overall, while its a unique experience I wasnt overly enthused about the actual food but Im hoping to be more impressed in the future when I try other desserts.
The cereal milk Ice cream is malty and creamy. Its good. The pie is a tad too sweet and I dont enjoy the soft texture.
Extremely sweet desserts but still enjoyable. The milkshake was delicious but for $5 it was a tad too small.
This place is Fantastic. We went here 2 nights on our week long trip. Loved the chocolate Malt cake Shake and Crack Pie! Yum. FYI. get your own you wont want to Share!
So, lets get this straight: Cereal milk is not for everybody. But if you like things that taste good, you should try the cereal milk soft serve with Captain Crunch (called just crunch here). This truly is something special that makes those hot summer days a little more bearable. The lines seem to be mostly gone since it is well after the grand opening, so stop by and prepare to be deliciousd!Oh, and the cookies are pretty good too. I tried the confetti cookie that was surprisingly good, and the cornflake-chocolate-chip-marshmallow cookie was odd, but I wouldnt not eat it again.
Been here once. We tried two different cookies and an ice cream. The ice cream did not taste good; the cookies were meh. Definitely not worth the price or the calorie count.
While the crack pie and cookies are yummy. The staff was less helpful and didnt seem to want to be at work. While I know everyone has off days seeing people lean on counters in a kitchen is off putting. The shop is small and unfortunately it was cold out when we went so a lot of people were standing inside to stay warm making it crowded. Once again I have never been disappointed with the food and quality just the environment is not my cup of tea.
The ice cream here is terrible. Their little trademark that they though was really clever is the “cereal bowl” which is the taste of the bottom of a bowl of cereal. What normal person would get to the bottom of their bowl of cereal and think “yeah, that’s delicious”. The ice cream is very expensive but you couldn’t pay me to eat it. It’s literally salty. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. There is a CVS across the street. Go there and get a whole pint of Ben and Jerry’s for the same price. Also whoever thought of the Cereal Milk ice cream should be thrown in jail. That’s all I have to say. Will say the lady who helped us was very nice and needs a raise for having to explain what cereal milk is all day.
Unfortunate but super overrated. Birthday cake was dry and old. Crack pie looked like it had been packed 2 weeks ago and been put in the fridge. Honestly wanted to love it, but never coming back.
The service was great but the cakes tasted a day old. I bought a slice of birthday cake and a slice of crack pie. Both came in very cute packaging and looked delicious. They tasted like your average cake or pie. I think I may have gone on a bad day since I’ve heard such great reviews before.
While we were excited about this place after the Netflix series, the quality is, as others have said, far below the impressions given in the series. The crack pie is a single flavor (sugar), the cake is dry, the truffles are gritty and dry, and the cereal milk ice cream is good for a few bites but not beyond that. We spent $26. You would be better served supporting a local family bakery or ice cream place with better quality. I wish I could be more enthusiastic about this place, but the imbalance of hype to taste seems borderline deceptive.
Second time Ive given this place a try. The ice cream is just okay. Baked goods are far from fresh. The coffee is. Well I dont even know whats wrong with it, but its terrible. Coffee fixings? Your options are heavy whipping cream or whole milk. Isnt this place a milk bar? And worst of all, the service is absolutely atrocious. Woman working the counter was annoyed I rolled her eyes and walked away when we placed our order. We asked for a latte and she rang us up for a drip coffee and handed us out cups. When we corrected that we wanted lattes she said sorry I already rang you up for regular coffee and sat back down and returned to interacting with her cell phone.Ive gotten better service and better quality coffee from a hospital coffee vending machine.
I wasnt impressed. I had high hopes for what this place might be, but the ice cream really didnt taste that great. The location was fun and the store itself was nice, though cramped. I dont regret having gone, but I most likely wont do it again.
Saw these guys on the new season of Chefs Table and so probably like a lot of newcomers I had to try them on a trip to DC. Tried a few of the cookies, birthday cake shake, and corn flake milk crunch soft serve. I would say Milk Bar is innovative, but sometimes innovation does not necessarily lead to flavors justified by really high prices. The ~4oz milkshake was almost $7, for example. Quite simply, if you love drinking the [flavorless] corn milk at the end of eating a bowl of cereal, just make a bowl of cornflakes and save yourself a good bit of money.
Milk Bar - the mega engine that could! We were so looking forward to our visit to this place. We got there on a weekend afternoon with a couple of groups ahead of us. But within a minute of us getting there, it was as if the tour bus got there - we clearly got lucky!I ordered 2 soft serves - birthday cake and twist. We however, were given 2 milk and cereal soft serve. When I brought this to the attention of the person who served us the ice creams, she said that it was the correct order and this is what she had been told to get. I did remind her of my order and she said it would take 5 minutes to get us the correct order since the line was too long! REALLY! I have to wait 5 minutes to get my correct order since she messed up!Not wanting to wait for the fear of 2 revolting kids who were eyeing their ice creams, we took what she had made for us and sat outside by the water fountains to eat them. Kids did not like the ice cream and we thought it was just okay - too much salt in my opinion. This place may be great and super busy, but we came away disappointed
Expect to grab your order and go because this is a small space! Good service, the only problem during my visit was that the drink slip was missed by the workers so I had to wait longer for my beverage. When it was ready it was delicious! Consider grabbing one of the mixes to make at home!
Only 2 stars because they have an option of soy and almond milk alternative. All of their ice cream is made with left over Cereal milk... they gave a free sample to see if we liked it, it was not appetizing, really gross in my opinion. with the name milk they should offer regular ice cream for those who dont like cereal milk. other than that the lady who was taking orders was very nice and understanding.
Everything we are was very sweet, almost too sweet. The crack pie was really good, but also very sweet. Cookies were underwhelming. The compost cookie was good, the cornflake chocolate chip marshmellow cookie was chew to the point where it felt hard, and the blueberry and cream cookie tasted like the best part of the muffin. The birthday cake truffles were outrageously sweet. They smell like a little kids birthday cake, very nostalgic. I liked them a lot, but they were too sweet for the person I was with. Could eat half of one and be content.
Saw the Chefs Table episode, wound up in DC, and was looking for things to do in DC. Couldnt believe it when Milk Bar showed up! Dream come true to eat there. Staff was super helpful in my decision making process. Crack Pie is no joke.
No thanks! It tastes like ice cream without sugar. It is not an enjoyable flavor. Even my sweet tooth crazy kids couldnt eat more than a few bites. I ate what I could stand only because of how ridiculously overpriced it was.
Stopped in for some sweet treats and wanted to try everything but managed to hold back. The compost cookie - tasty but we liked the confetti cookie more, and even better than that the birthday cake truffles were a pleasant surprise. Thought these might be like your standard cake pops, but good flavor and tender.
Corn flake ice cream was different but good. The chocolate fudge was awesome, bought a crack pie slice and wife bought birthday cake slice will post another review once taste them
The cereal milk soft serve is exactly as advertised--it tastes like the milk leftover after eating corn flakes cereal, which I found to be weird. The crafting of Crack Pie is knowledge akin to splitting the atom--the world will never be the same. I wish the line was shorter. However, note here are two lines. One into the restaurant and one into the Milk Bar. The restaurant serves all the Milk Bar desserts with the exception of the shakes. Pick whichever line is shorter, unless you want a milk shake. Does it live up to the hype? Not quite. But the hype was really over the top. I really wish the line was shorter.
