Without a doubt, the best coffeehouse in the city! Im excessively happy to the point that ultimately, in the nick of time, I had the option to discover this spot for some great espresso. The climate inside the café was vivacious and quieting. Im certain Ill give them a five-star for everything theyve done. Exceptionally cool! Amazing, much thanks, folks!
This coffee shop was great! I really loved this place because it was not crowded. This place has a great ambiance. The coffee that they had was not too strong. The cakes that they had were freshly baked and delicious as well. You keep up the nice and reliable service here in our region! Thanks!
If you are a coffee lover, then this coffee shop is the best to visit. Their coffee really satisfies my taste at a very affordable price. The service was very fast that made my stay so special. The interior design is very unique as well which is picture-perfect. I will highly recommend this coffee shop to everyone I know.
Excellent coffee, great scones, and even better service. I accidentally left my credit card in the machine and the employee at the cash register ran three blocks after me to return the card. Could not have had a better experience.
Got the classic breakfast biscuit, tea, vanilla latte, and cinnamon roll this morning. All were delicious! Staff was super friendly. Would recommend!!
The baristas are good at mixing something for your drinks to even taste perfect! The staff is always so friendly and accommodating, and serious perfectionists when it comes to preparing drinks. Their coffee always tastes fresh and delicious! Highly recommended!
The drip (when it’s fresh) is some of best I’ve had in US but also like many places in US little quality control. You just have to catch it fresh. If it’s been sitting there awhile it’s mediocre at best. I wish they’d just switch it out every so often no matter thus ensuring high quality.Even if you’re not into coffee, the freshly baked cinnamon rolls on the weekends are worth a visit (usually available after 9-10am).Espresso isn’t my style but just a personal preference as I like sweeter espressos. Theirs is solid if you prefer more conventional styles.
One of my favorite iced oat mochas in the country. I have traveled to multiple states visiting small cafe locations (rarely chain stores) and I always order a mocha. The espresso beans are roasted to perfection, the shot is pulled perfectly, the chocolate blends very smooth with the espresso and oat milk. They do a really impressive job here, this is also from a long time barista myself so if you’re looking for a new cafe spot or in the neighborhood definitely stop by here! The customer service is very friendly as well!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service was good but pumpkin spice latte was basically just milk with mild flavor of coffee! Espresso was ok. Chai latte and regular latte was strictly ok as well.
Great coffee and pastry selection! Not sure if its the lack of pandemic in the air or the quality of the place (probably both) but the energy here is great! I accidentally ordered a biscuit with butter and jam and ate the whole thing without remorse, it was great.I appreciate not using disposable straws, but the ice beverage lid spout was a little small. I guess it forces me to slow down and actually taste my coffee? But also spill a little of it... still going to go back soon!
Great ambiance, most delightful cakes and most aromatic & well brewed coffee. Will be back on another visit to D.C
Oat milk cortado was mediocre; the extraction was quite sour and lacking in body even after stirring with a spoon. Mocha was better because of the extra flavour. I liked the atmosphere, though they could have wiped the table once in a while. They have good equipment and good beans, so I think it was probably just human error or poor barista training. Still, at $5 it stinks to not get a good espresso.3 stars for ambience and friendly staff. Could easily have been 5 stars with good espresso and a cleaner table. Its always hard to know if it would be worthwhile to ask for a redo, it feels somewhat rude, but at the same time if you dont tell them they cant improve. Mine was just barely drinkable so I decided not to bring it up.
The same person asked me to remove my service pets from the store. They’re Pomeranians and the heat is too much with their coats so they have Id’s attached to their collars. This is the SECOND times he’s asked me to remove them after I told him they are service animals. This is AGAINST THE LAW.I WONT BE COMING BACK.
I normally like this place but tried a matcha here for the first time and it just tastes like milk. I feel like I paid $7 for milk.
The coffee is great, ambiance is nice and they play good music.
First class service. Excellent wine menu.
Delicious coffee and pastries! I had the house blend with a raspberry scone and was very satisfied. The staff is very friendly, and the interior has a pleasant charm. Note that its a small interior therefore seating is a bit limited, and most of the available seating is barstools.Knocked off one star due to the music, which felt just a tad too loud.
Great little breakfast pickup spot! Both lattes I purchased (regular and matcha) were delicious but the matcha was the real standout. They were very helpful when they called and werent able to fulfill our original order of cinnamon buns and made a great replacement with their coffee cake muffins which are amazing!! Im excited to try again to get my hands on a cinnamon bun next weekend. Its a little pricey but nothing I wouldnt expect, especially considering the use of local ingredients which is an absolute plus in my book!
Sunday 3/27/21...Every so often I have to work uptown for my job. I discovered this place about a months ago. Today is my 3rd time here and I have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly. They have the best hot chocolate I have ever tasted. Today I got the Chai Latte and was in Heaven. You can taste the spices in the Chai and the best I have had. All 3 times I also got the Salmon toast 😋😋. I must say this...2 of the times I purchased it...the presentation of it was outstanding, however it was always tasty. The white guy with the ponytail (I don’t know his name...sorry) prepared it with so much love 💕 I like the fact that they have real food. I live in Prince George’s County and we could use a place like this in Upper Marlboro. This place is worth the visit.
The cherry almond scones are my guilty pleasure. 4 stars only cuz half the time they give me the (still delicious but not as good) berry lavender ones. Its a little thing, but its the only reason I go there so...
Would love to try the place but unfortunately the coffee shop does not follow latest CDC guidance so I am uncomfortable to enter. 3 giant signs at the entrance for a small coffee shop that you need to wear a mask are a bit much, weeks after the order was dropped by the DC mayor!
Fantastic coffee. Fantastic service. Fantastic treats. Wydown is for coffee lovers.
The house iced coffee was the best Ive had!
The coffee was ok at best. The pecan cookies was raw and tasteless.
The London Fog and biscuit and jam were delicious but the best part was the customer service: friendly and happy to help. Online ordering was easy. I need to come here more often.
Really fantastic chai brew! Also the muffins are delicious.
I would give them if there was a negative star.
In and out, breakfast and coffee, once a week. Love it!
They should learn that they serve mostly people before ging to work. They should care about their clients and be faster serving.I have been waiting 20 minutes for a Classic Breakfast Sandwich that came cold.I think they cook one hot for themselves and give the client cold one.
One of my top 3 BEST CHAI LATTES in the DMV. A little spicy and not super sweet
Great decor! Super friendly employees! I love the variety of pastries and all the creative flavors they have! We got blackberry lavender scone and raspberry rose scone! Both were super delicious. Not a lot of seats, not quiet but a very workable place! Little birds were flying in the cafe, which was super cute. We had a good time.
I hadnt been in DC in a few months and wanted to make sure to stop by and snag some coffee while in town. Their contactless setup was smooth and their coffee and almond scones were as good as ever. Such a great place!
Great coffee! And lovely, friendly staff! Dont forget to tip! :-)
I just moved to DC and the Wydown has become one of my favorite places! The coffee is so flavorful, the atmosphere is great, and the breakfast sandwiches are delicious. There’s also no WiFi, which I really like. Sometimes people are here to read or study, but people are usually here to hang out and talk to each other!
Why dont you have cold brew.... or wifi. At least the decor is nice
Grab a bag of their Los Quetzales Pacas roast. 10/10
Great coffee and great food. Staff are always friendly and professional. It’s a small space, so there is seating, but not a ton. That’s not a negative; just something to know before you go. They also have a rewards program, which is essential for any coffee addict. Highly recommend.
Fantastic coffee, my new favorite shop in the area. Good drip and espresso options. They also have a nice selection of pastries. What I like most is that they buy beans from a number of roasters so what Ive had there has been great. The bags are also reasonably priced (for high end/third wave beans) and you get a free pour-over when you buy a bag which is a great deal.Despite the quality it usually isnt that full, they seem to keep up a steady business but Ive never had a problem finding a seat.
The wine list is very good and extensive.
Staff is always kind, the quality is great. Love getting the fun baked goods. Plus, they are always really sweet to our little baby boy. Good music as well. Favorite coffee spot in the city.
Great coffee. But the star here are the scones. They are soft & tasty. A cup of coffee & scone are a great tasting combination.
I love this place. Definitely one of the most consistently excellent espresso pulls in the area! And they offer oat milk which makes for a way nicer latte than other non dairy stuff.
Mediocre cortado. Better baked goods than your typical coffee shop. Everyone in line ordered iced coffee (in December of all months) so maybe that’s the move? Considering that there are countless other coffee shops just like this one in the vicinity don’t make a special trip here.
Never had a bad cup. The pour overs are great and normally whatever they have brewed is better than most other places. They have a very strong scone and muffin game here. It can get a little cramped whenever there are more than a few people in line or waiting for drinks (which is most days).
There is no conceivable way this place deserves anything below 5 stars. Fresh baked muffins, artisan coffee and a banging seating area. Seriously well done.
Their coffee is delicious the only down fall is there is not much space at times to sit down and do some work. But its all good!!!
The best coffee spot on 14th Street that Ive experienced so far!! The breakfast sandwich and quiche were perfect, and latte and cappuccino were made exactly as requested. This shop is clean and relatively quiet with a laid back vibe.
A place like The Wydown is nice to have in the neighborhood, and I liked working from there but probably wont add this to my rotation of regular spots. I was surprised to find that they dont have a Wifi hotspot given how many other reviews mentioned coming here to work, but considering they say anything to those of us who were on our laptops working Im guessing they dont have an issue with that going on. The coffees and teas are priced as youd expect for the area, and I appreciated how many different tea options they have for non-coffee drinkers. They also have a small bakery with scones, muffins, etc... but whats most cool about this place is that they make everything in house for breakfast, and you can actually see them make everything from scratch which is very cool. There arent more than 20 seats inside (most are bar stools) so its a good spot for intimate conversations and hanging solo.
A boring upscale stereotype. Not worth it
One of my favorite coffee spots, though unfortunately its many peoples favorites because it can get crowded on the weekends! Nevertheless Im there often. Great coffee, super nice baristas and truly delicious baked goods. If you buy beans they give you a free pour over to try it! The market quiche is one of my favorite breakfasts.
Really chill staff. Nice decor. Views of H Street Corridor for satisfying people watching. 99% of seating is stools in the immediate cafe space, but theres plenty of comfy seats, couches, benches and more in the lobby of the The Apollo which Wyndown is connected. No stuffy vibes here, just good coffee, freshly baked goods and a nice staff.
Got an iced dirty chai and a scone there which were both incredible, and very fairly priced for an upscale local coffee shop. Absolutely going to be going back for my morning coffee’s. Highly recommend!
The Wydown Coffee Bar is definitely one of the coolest coffee shops in DC and not only that, but they serve quality coffee and baked goods in one of the coolest DC neighborhoods, U Street NW. Only a few blocks from the U Street Metro Station, The Wydown Coffee Bar is a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of DC.The Wydown has a garage door that opens in good weather giving it a very cool vibe especially on a sunny day. There are several tables throughout the coffee shop from long tables to single tables. Theres no wifi, but in a social media obsessed culture, I think its refreshing. They make a mean iced latte and unlike other coffee shops, they have simple syrup to add to it at the bar. Also, their cookies are AMAZING! Try the coconut chocolate chip cookies. They are perfectly moist and so good.Ill for sure be back to The Wydown!
Great coffee, cool baristas, and vibrant ambiance. One of the best cafes in the district!
The coffee is good and the rose and raspberry scone was tasty. Four stars instead of five because they dont have wifi.
One of my favorite coffee shops. My only complaint is that the staff generally not customer-focused. My past few times there, employees are usually talking to friends or each other and never say thank you or come again. As a customer of $8 coffee, I expect that. That being said, theyre still friendlier than those of Peregrine Espresso (its almost a Portlandia skit).
Really had a great experience! Zoe was very kind in helping me, she also mentioned before I ordered that they didnt have wifi (she noticed that I had a backpack) which was helpful.
This is my favorite coffee shop in DC. Great coffee or espresso drinks and delicious baked goods or snacks. The service is always friendly and prompt. Highly recommend!
A great little place doing top quality coffees with a smile. Quite small so often hard to get a seat inside or out. Get your coffee to go.
I was in DC a couple of months ago with my mom.Being a major foodie (a given, as I am a pastry chef) I was relentlessly searching, but was having a hard time locating, a cup of high quality cappuccino. It was a major letdown that I was able to find a better cup in my town of Providence RI than in DC (a major tourist city). Finally the day before we were supposed to leave we came across the Wydown (I wanted to check the hype about Trader Joes as the one in RI is too far away from me).Short story: after 4 days of being caffeine free I found the holy grail! If you are in DC, give them a visit. theyre cappuccino is heavenly. the beans were roasted to perfection, the milk was heated to the right temp without me having to ask for that temp (as I do in most Starbucks).I hope they will still be around the next time I visit DC.
Honestly speaking, their coffees can’t just be labeled as ‘good’, it’s great! They serve coffees at any kind that is ethically sourced, thoughtfully roasted, and brewed to perfection. How can I be sure about such things? Their friendly barista had told me the secret and the truth about their coffees.
Very nice atmosphere with great options for tea, coffee, and more. Also some nice pastries. It can be a little short on space when its busy, but overall great experience. staff are helpful too.
Perfect place to stop for breakfast or a coffee on your way into the office or before an early morning run to any of the nearby shops. Their pastry selection is excellent--dont miss the andouille, cheddar, and chive biscuit and the berry scone was also delicious. There is pretty limited seating.
Hands-down, the best coffee in DC. Ive tried several different coffee shops (obviously excluding Starbucks), and all of them paled in comparison to Wydowns coffee. This review is only for their brewed-to-order coffees, because that is all Ive ever tried and all youll ever need to try to know that this place sells the best cuppa joe in town.Their brewed-to-order coffees menu offer a variety of select beans and are changed daily. Ive tried all their different beans and, honestly, theyre all really good. The differences are subtle to a non-coffee connoisseur like me, but each taste unique and delicious in its own way (I may not be educated in the world of coffee, but I know a good brew when I sip one). I love the Ethiopian, the Kenyan, and the Guatemalan beans and have even gifted them to friends out of town who are unfortunate to not be able to experience Wydown on a regular basis :(Wydown has two locations so far in DC, the 14th St one being the closest to where I work. Even then, I have to Uber about 8 minutes just to get my daily fix. The whole coffee run takes about 30 minutes on average, but its definitely worth all that time and money. Ive definitely become spoiled by the quality of Wydowns coffee and I refuse to drink anything else.If youre ever passing through and come across a Wydown, I highly recommend you stopping by and getting yourself some coffee. Price is a little steeper than your typical Starbucks, but this isnt anything like your typical Starbucks. Once youve tried a cup, youll definitely be thinking about it for a long time. In fact, writing this review has got me craving a cup of their coffee right now!
If people watching is your cup of tea, get both here..🍵👀👋
One of my favorite coffee shops in Virginia. Super interesting baked goods, I can’t stop thinking about their cardamom rolls and blackberry lavender scones.
Unobtrusive background music, a radical shift from its craft coffee brethren (ahem, Chinatown Coffee, ahem). Extraordinarily pleasant staff, popping smiles with prompt service. Coffee handled expertly. Sparse, but communal tables bring a hint of coziness.
Tasty coffee, cool location with some outdoor seating. Nice baristas. Recommended.
Grateful you’re open for carry out. Thanks for the great coffee, chai, and scones.
Great coffee shop, chai late was delicious and the breakfast sandwich fresh made and delicious, totally recommend to go in the morning. Great staff.
The best cappuccino I had in the US. I tried one of their savoury scones and fell in love for it.
Spent this past weekend jumping from shop to shop in NYC, then went to Wydown on my way home. It was amongst the top three shops Ive ever been to (in the company of Methodical in Greenville and Brash in Atlanta) and far better than any of the dozens of shops Ive visited in New York. My espresso was perfectly extracted and delicious, there was excellent and decently priced merchandise, the atmosphere was great, and most importantly, I received incredibly friendly customer service. I would highly recommend this shop.
Loved the atmosphere, but had the lavender blackberry scone and found it wasn’t what i hoped, great coffee with good prices
Great coffee and pastries! The place has a superb vibe as well, love the coffee stain art.
DisgustingI came here after an early morning soul cycle class and was quite disappointed. I got a peach yogurt from the refrigerator case that turned out the seal under the lid was halfway pulled off. I replaced it only to find out the second yogurt was also opened. I also ordered an americano that was super weak. Theres also very limited seating and no wifi. Im never coming back
We love the vibe here. The coffee is great, pastries are delicious, and the staff is pretty friendly. I’d recommend it if you’re in the area.
The Wydown never disappoints in any aspect. Great espresso and killer, unexpected flavor combinations in the bakery case. Nice folks too.
The espresso, the foundation of good Italian coffee drinks, was sour. Beans were ground too finely, over roasted and over extracted. Maybe their libations are better?
I love this place especially the chocolate chip perfect lets have cookies together
Yummy caps and baked goods. Some outdoor seating and high top tables. Good for people and dog watching on weekends. One of my favorites in DC.
As a Barista when I walk into a cafe, coffee shop, bakery or restaurant, my eyes always dart to a couple things.Food, Espresso machines and the employees themselves. This coffee shop is amazing, not just for how good their coffee is but also because I was met with really nice attitudes a welcoming customer base and a very beautiful decor.I purchased a Matcha Latte and was not disappointed at all, it was strong and smooth just how I personally like it. I also bought a bag of coffee from them and I can’t wait to try it at home.
Great service and great coffee!!!
Great coffee bar with rotating selections of U.S. roasters. Yummy on-site baked goods too! Beware: seating is limited and fills up fast.
Ive been here several times and the space is beautiful. The coffee is kind of forgettable. Service has been decent but nothing too mindblowing. Like most pretentious coffee shops in DC, this one is also absurdly overpriced.Sufficiently meh.
Came here on a Saturday morning looking to grab a quick coffee and breakfast.Food menu is not extensive, but this is not surprising since it is only a small cafe specialising in coffee.Ordered a breakfast sandwich which was fantastic. However it was much smaller than I expected - I’ll be sure to order two of these next time.Coffee was good.I would like to note that the employee who took my order was unprofessional - did not say hi and stood there silently to take my order. Also, that same employee was incessantly flipping every customer’s coffee cups behind the bar, before placing the cups on the coffee machine for the barista to make the coffees. I must admit that I have not seen that before.
Pop-up coffee bar puts down roots at industrial, mod space serving artisanal java & baked goods.
Excellent raspberry scone. Iced latte was also quite good! Barista was determined to rush us along, which put a damper on the experience. Small indoor and outdoor seating area.
