Staff and doctor are nice and the location is fine but it would be helpful if they were clear about costs before the exam instead of after.
I was in town for vacation and my contact ripped. I walked in and Angie greeted me. I told her what I needed, showed my prescription and she went to see if they had a sample. She came out with exactly what I needed, and to my surprise at no charge. Truly a blessing and an Angel! She is the sweetest lady and if I am ever in town I will come to this location to order upcoming contacts and glasses. No other place would do with such a great experience. Thank you Angie!! You are the best!!
Just had the most positive experience at myeyedr thanks to Jac’con who was so kind and helpful. He knew I really liked a pair of glasses I had gotten in 2019 and so he made a list of stores to call and get them shipped to this location. There was a customer using a crutch and he made sure to open the door for him upon exiting to make his day easier. Someone needs to give him a raise.
Walked in today to have my glasses adjusted. The ladies working the front were so polite and kind. Amazing customer service. This isnt the location I would normally visit, but after my interaction today thats going to change. Highly recommend giving them a visit!
The eye doctors and staff at the Gallery Place location are outstanding. In addition to being technically skilled about what they are doing, they are talented in helping choose the right frame and without a doubt are the warmest and kindest folks Ive met in a store in years. Id like to go back just to visit them.
Though I had an appointment and received 2 confirmations (via email and text), when I arrived at my appointment 5 minutes before the scheduled time, they claimed my appointment had been cancelled. They refused to see me. Absolutely, unacceptable service.
A great experience. An amazing doctor. My prescription had been wrong for years by an awful lot. Way too strong. She corrected it by, I think half! The world is far more beautiful now. Thank Dr. Jing Guo and your entire team.
Extremely satisfied with the excellent service and friendly staffThis was by far the best consultation with an optometrist who took time to really find what worked for my eyes
I ordered replacement prescription lenses for my sunglasses on April 12. It’s been more than three months, with multiple lab errors and missing shipments later, and I still don’t have my sunglasses back.
The reason for the two stars is not the eye exam or the friendliness of the sales staff, but the unsavory feeling of the high pressure pitch to buy my prescription eyewear in the same store. This is my second time at this store, so I was more aware of the tactic. During my first visit, the first time I needed eyewear, I knew I bought more than I needed in retrospect. This time I was more prepared because I did research ahead of time to estimate I would pay at other companies and locations for similar prescriptions I was likely to get. Frankly it felt like walking into a used car sales floor. I dont fault the sales people because I felt that it was part of their job to pressure customers. So, be aware when you walk in that there is a high pressure to buy your eyewear at the store. Be aware of your price point and do your research.
I love coming here. The staff is so nice and competent. Service is always fast but everyone is very polite. Toya helped me pick out my contacts, she explained everything thoroughly about my insurance and made sure I understood the cost and what was covered. I come back here every year.
Great Place! Very friendly and personable staff. Exam took less than 30 minutes. Multiple staff even helped with picking out perfect frames. 1000% customer service.
Everyone who works here is so friendly! Their COVID procedures are great - they take your temp, give you a fresh sterile mask, have hand sanitizer, and clean the stations thoroughly between each customer. I’ve been going here for two years now and they’re my favorite eye doctor in DC - highly recommend!
I was told the price would be $115 for contact exam yesterday, made the appointment and came in today 7/17/20. (DR. was great) but after the exam, the service woman told me the price was $257 because it was comprehensive and a free pair of contacts. I said I wasnt going to pay more than what I was told, and she suddenly lowered it to $197. I was then given the option to leave, without my prescription and had to take the free contacts out of my eyes. ISo I did.Terrible place. Move on to something else. Do not recommend.
Very friendly and helpful workers!
I usually dont write reviews. However, I had such a pleasurable experience. My eye exam took no time. When it was time to pick out my frames, I received so much one-on-one attention to find the perfect frames to fit my face. My glasses arrived in less than a week and theyre adorable. I wish I could remember the names of the individuals who helped me but nonetheless very friendly staff.
I was told that my glasses would be ready 2 weeks after I purchased them. After the 2 weeks had passed, I had called and asked for an update, they told me they would call me back the next morning and never did. I waited a few days later and they said I would have to wait an additional 2 weeks for my glasses, which is completely ridiculous. They said they would call me back with an update that day. They never did. Like someone else said in another review- they never call and update you when they say they will. I would give a 1 star but I did like the staff that was there that helped me pick out my frames. The manager was cool too. I realize they have no control over the timing of my glasses being made. However, Ill be taking my business elsewhere.
I was SHOCKED when I came here to leave a review and saw all the negative reviews. I had such a wonderful and great experience at this location. I just became an active full-time employee at my current job and I was waiting for all my medical cards to physically arrive in the mail, but desperately needed needed an eye exam because I had run out of contacts and needed an updated prescription. Elena, I believe is her name, was SO helpful. She contacted me when she couldnt find my vision insurance and followed up with me thoroughly up until my appointment just to let me know she was still looking into it and she was doing everything she could to make sure they located my insurance. I took a wrong turn getting off the metro and was late to my appointment, but when I arrived, they were VERY kind and accommodated me. Every single employee there greeted me, asked how I was doing, and made friendly conversation as I waited for different aspects of my appointment. The optometrist was great and knowledgeable. I received my lenses in the allotted time-frame they gave me and I also got complimentary sunglasses. I have NO CLUE why anyone would have a negative experience here. It is some of the best customer service I have ever received in a medical office.
It has now been one month since my eye exam, and my new lenses are still not ready. The promise date was 16 days ago. The only way I can get updates is to call and ask for the manager. Nobody calls me with updates, even though they said they would. And don’t try the Capitol Hill location, it’s just as bad. I’m ditching MyEyeDr altogether once these lenses are in my glasses—if that ever happens.
I had a great experience at this Chinatown location. Every person I interacted with was very pleasant and helpful. I started with progressive lenses and decided they werent for me. The staff was great in helping me choose a better option. I highly recommend this location.
I am very happy I did not look at these reviews. My experience was awesome. Made an appointment online. Went in on Monday, the assistant and Dr. Guo were awesome. Victoria was patient with me in selecting frames. And recommended a certain lens. Told me the glasses would come in at the end of the month. They came in 3 days later and the lens are so clear I am seeing the world clearly. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
I hate going to any medical appointment, however this was the best experience I have had anywhere in so long! The staff was so nice, professional, and it was an inviting atmosphere. Victoria was my optician, she was amazing! All the prices were broken down to me in an easy to digest manner, finding frames was fun and the staff was my own girl squad-couldn’t ask for a better experience. Looking forward to doing more business with them in the future.
I was very happy as a walk-in at 3pm on a weekday ; I was seen within minutes of arrival. Dr. Guo was very nice, took her time with me & explained everything in detail. Carrianna was very patient and honest with me while trying on frames. She gave me all the best options for prices. Customer service was awesome & the other staff was very friendly as well. They did well by me. I should be in my new frames soon & very soon.
Had an eye exam and contact lenses fitted here and it was a great experience all around. I wish I could thank people by name, but everyone I encountered from the optometrist to the employee who trained me to put in contacts were very kind and patient. Im glad this office is in my neighborhood.
I never write reviews, but Lakea and Anthony were so pleasant and helpful I felt the need to this time. Great opticians who had all the answers to both my eye-related and style-related questions, all with humor and while putting a smile on my face. Highly recommend this location.
I was in DC for a conference, didnt have my contact lenses on me, and was having a hard time getting my prescription from my doctors office. The staff at this MyEyeDr went above and beyond to help me and make sure I would get a pair of contacts so that I could see and be comfortable. I cannot thank them enough for helping me. And they did it all with so much warmth, caring, a big smile on their faces, and being super friendly! I highly recommend this MyEyeDr!
When I made an appointment online I selected that I was coming to get contact lenses only. I called to check on the price and was told it would be $99 without insurance. When I arrived the day of the appointment I filled out the paperwork indicating that I was there for contacts by checking the box marked contacts. The woman confirmed that the price was $99. I told the doctor that I was only there for contacts. The exam was conducted and he apparently conducted an exam for contacts and glasses. I tried the contacts out. The doctor gave me two prescriptions, one for glasses and one for contacts. However, when I went to pay the woman told me it would cost $99 for the exam plus $75 for the contacts exam which was extra. When I protested she said they could remove the $75 charge but that I couldnt take the contact prescription. I protested again because the purpose of my visit was to get contacts, which required a prescription. I explained that I confirmed the price twice for the contact exam and was told it was $99, and that $175 was nearly double what I was told prior to the visit and when I arrived. It was unclear why they could not remove the charge for the glasses exam instead. I would and still am willing to return the prescription for glasses, which I had explained I did not need.Since my prescription for contacts was essentially held hostage I ended up paying the $175 because I needed it.This type of false advertising and misinformation is extremely poor business practice and customer service to say the least.
I usually dont write bad reviews but in this situation I must let the public know of my experience at this place.. My prescription glasses never came in, several weeks after they have put in the order I was told that there was a delay at the lab and that the following week my glasses were going to be ready, they were going to call me and let me know when the glasses arrive.. They never call me so I call them and they said that there was confusion with the order at the lab and that the order was going to be ready the following week.. To make the story short, the glasses never showed up and took them almost four months to refund my money. I would not recommend this place to nobody...
The eye doctor here made me get a cheap brand of contacts that dont support astigmatism and said it would be okay to wear once in a while. I thought I wouldnt notice a difference but theyre just terrible. I intend to go back and run them for a proper set of contacts.Edit: Im trying to get a return but am told I cant since I bought over 6 months ago. They also refuse to even sell me different contacts until I pay for another examination despite having a current and valid prescription. I understand the reasoning that eyes change, but its just unreasonable and devious to give someone contacts, admitting they may not work very well and then not allowing one to return. All I want is functional contact lenses. Im $300 in the hole because I was misled. Malpractice sounds about right.Edit: I did in fact contact them about the issue like they commented below and they refused to do anything to help, so Im confused why they would tell me to reach out.
Called them to check if a contact lens prescription was in stock. The woman who answered the phone refused to tell me because she said she had to have a prescription first. Needed to have my prescription faxed to them as l forgot my lenses and was here on a vacation. Kept putting me on hold and even hung up on me. I eventually had a phenomenal experience with Washington Eye Doctors, who took care of me like family. That is where you need to go!
Awful service. Ordered glasses on Dec 4th -- incorrect frames came back, in addition they were without glare resistance or scratch guard. Staff person popped the lenses out of the incorrect frames and put them in the sample pair --still had to return them because the glare and scratch resistance was missing. Two weeks later, next pair came back as sunglasses--correct frame, but wrong lenses. Manager actually tried to convince me to wear the glasses as is--ah no Im not wearing prescription sunglasses in the office. I was guaranteed my corrected eye wear would be expedited and delivered within 4 business days, well that didnt happen and I never received any type of follow up call from staff. So on January 28th I went to the store to request a refund. The manager told me they didnt give refunds and my eye wear was scheduled to arrive in two weeks. Really? THEE worse experience from staff to management a joke. . . I got my money back finally in February 2019. Meanwhile, my eyes suffered. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION
This office sucks! My husband spent all morning trying to make an appointment. Initially he was told that his script had yet to expire and insurance wouldnt cover another exam until 2019. Of course that was incorrect. Once the appointment was made, it was made for the WRONG location. I personally called the store to complain and of course blame was shifted to the call center. I was told no calls come directly to the our store. Obviously, that was not true considering that I called directly through. Dont waste your time. If the front office is a mess, I can only imagine how the doctors are. Such an inconvenience and waste of time.
I first got glasses for the first time here a little over a year ago, and Dr Neagle was fantastic, and the front store and reception staff were wonderful and helpful. I just made my one year check-up for later this week to get my updated lenses, and am seeing Dr Neagle again. Dont really understand all the negative reviews aside from the likelihood that only upset people are really motivated to make reviews (I know that is true for me in many cases). So, I think the reviews on this location dont reflect the quality of care or customer experience that I have received. I recommend this location.
Bad experience here. I was getting contacts for the first time and was practicing with a woman (who was very nice!) on taking them out and putting them back in. Well, at one point I could not get a contact out of my right eye. Eventually, They took me back to the eye dr (older dude, dont remember his name). He was insistent that the contact fell out of my eye and it was NOT in there anymore. Like - he checked with a light and everything multiple times. We looked on the ground where I was taking them out and couldnt find it. (I assumed it was long gone, stepped on, etc.) Well, when I left and woke up the next morning I thought I had a large clump of eyelashes in my eye. When I pulled it out I actually pulled out the contact that was NOT supposed to be in my eye! The contact could have been in my eye for days and I would not know it/would be dangerous to the health of my eyes. Incompetent!!
I was traveling in DC and lost my contact lenses. I went into MyEyeDr to see if I could buy a pair of replacement lenses. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and gave me TWO pairs for FREE as well as a free travel bottle of lens solution. I was so appreciative and impressed. This kind of customer care is rare these days. Thank you, MyEyeDr!
Angela a.k.a Angie is a terrible supervisor. I went in to request contacts, while there she started to berate an employee (I believe his name is Jaccon). This should have been handled in the back where customers cant see or hear it. I visited the office again the following week for an eye exam and once again she was berating another employee in front of other customers. Angela interfered with the employees who were working with customers only to jump in and request information that the representative already had documented from working with the customer over time. She then started to ask questions and become visible upset at the what happened with the customer. However the customer told her that everything was fine because the employee had worked with him and kept him up to date every step of the way. Angela then stormed over to me and my representative to ask whats going on. I told her that everything is fine in order to dismiss her. I called in at a later date to check if my contacts where available and you could hear her in the background again berating someone. This is the closet eye doctor to my job which is 2 blocks away so its perfect. However due to what I’ve seen and heard I’ll never go to this location again. Due to her terrible leadership you can see the moral in the office drop. Also due that fact I’ve opted to get Lasik even though I ordered a year supplies of contacts and have my glasses prescription. I’ll never visit this store again and am going through surgery to ensure it. I plan on telling all of my colleagues as well as others to stay far away from this place. the only saving grace of the store are the employees and the doctor, if you can go there on a day where shes off then youre in luck however if you see here, walk out and go to another location.
I had a good experience. The appointment was easy to schedule and started on time. The staff was friendly and explained the charges before the exam started. The optometrist was also friendly and efficient.
Best store around! People are so helpful and sweet!
If I could rate this place no stars, I would. It is my first time needing glasses and it was not welcoming for first timers. The staff is nice. They did not keep thier promise on delivering my glasses. I waited 10 days and had to follow up every 4th day. On the last day, upon closing I called...they informed me that the glasses had a defect. I asked for a manager and was kept on hold for 15 minutes until I hung up. Finally, I got the person who helped me and she was good. Never give a customer a guaranteed date on something. I will not come back.
Absolutely TERRIBLE! I gave one star because I didnt have the option to give ZERO. I visited to get an eye exam for the first time in about 20 years.Angela Young is the General Manager, and ultimately responsible for my less than ideal experience at MyEyeDoctor - GalleryPlace Washington, DC.Long story short, I purchased frames from this store, but later found frames from Warby Parker that were HALF the price of MyEyeDoctors.April 2019 - I submitted a request for a refund. I received no refund and received no communication from this company for 2 months. Later found out that the manager, Angela, screwed up, sending my check to the wrong address THREE TIMES.So I decided to have them refund it to my debit card. When emailing my claim, Angela misspelled my name in the subject line to the refund company. The unprofessionalism is staggering. As of June 18, 2019, I have yet to get my refund. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. Needless to say I am glad I went with Warby Parker, and do not anticipate EVER returning nor recommending MyEyeDoctor -- at least as long as current management is involved.I am sure I will get a response from the company on this thread apologizing for the terrible experience I had -- because of them. Save it. Apologize with your actions so the next customer doesnt have to go through this.
First let me say this is my first experience at this location. I normally go to the L street location (which I have had zero problems). Two weeks ago I go into get new glasses as I broke mine on vacation and need a complete new pair. The exam goes fine and was quite pleasant then we get to purchasing new frames and all goes well. We get purchasing the selected items and i tell the sales person that I need the lenses by 07/21/17 as Im going out of town the following week. She promises me they will be there by this date. Fast forward to today and they call me to let me know that they wont be here until next Wednesday......i ask her over the phone what happened and she told me the insurance couldnt get them to the store by that time and there was nothing they could do. I asked them why they promised me when I bought them that they would have them by 07/21 she just said, sometimes in life stuff just happens. I told her I would be in the store in a few moments and hung up. The assistant manager was waiting for me. She immediately came at me in a tone that I have only heard in physical altercations. She was the most unprofessional person I have ever delt with in my life. I demanded my money back and she said, we dont have a refund policy. Which blew my mind and I cant fathom that to be true. I asked her about the guarantee date and she said we dont guarantee we have a promise date. Im like ok so if stuff can get messed up at the insurance companies lab then how can you promise a date. Then she said we dont promise anything....... I was speechless. Then I asked her if she could get the L street location to fill my order and she instructed me that would be possible. I know this isnt true because L street has got my glasses ready same day every other time. She eventually got up took the paper work and grabbed a phone, like we were done working this out. Im not sure how this person is employed by anyone let alone a manager of a doctors office.I had to call the corporate office who called the L street location who is able to get what I need but the promised date. There was no need for any of this. This is why people are getting tired of paying 400 bucks for glasses that take 3 weeks when you can get them from around the globe (china) in three days. I will say the corporate customer service rep was at least willing to figure it out.
I am not sure why I keep giving this place a chance. My first visit one of the staff members told me that I shouldnt get the pair of glasses I wanted because they looked bad on me. I left with my prescription and bought frames from Warby Parker instead, who by the way told me I looked fabulous :) . The Warby Parker frames were $100 what a difference from the $600 frames I was going to buy here. Since then I have tried to order my contacts through My Eye Dr. twice. The first time their system was down and the second time the girl who answered left me on hold for 15 minutes. I just hung up and will be ordering from 1-800 Contacts. No more chances.
Dont go to this place. I just spent over $700 at this location for exams and glasses and the service is terrible. I simply asked for additional trial packs of contacts to find the ones that work best for me. They want me to come back for a third exam in less than 3 months. This seems like an excuse to bill me again and very inconvenient.
I have had nothing but poor experiences at this location. I went in for my annual which I scheduled first thing in the morning so I could get to work on time. It ended up being 20 minutes late which was strange as the appointment I believe was at 9am (as soon as they opened). I went in with contacts at a -6.5 and the dr. bumped me to an -8.5. The change was so dramatic that I got sick. Not only that, the Dr. wanted me to try a new brand, Clairit, which I hated. When I called, he brought me in for a re-fitting and scaled it back down to a -8. I ordered the contact lenses. It wasnt until I got home after paying for the contacts that I realized the brand was incorrect. I called the receptionist to tell them they got my order incorrect, and as with every other interaction Ive had with this office she mumbled and responded with, uhh, well have to call you back. Still waiting for that call back...
The doctor and staff were fantastic. The doctor was thorough and the support staff friendly and knowledgeable.
Very dissatisfied client as it took weeks to get the glasses made. Would not recommend this place.
$95 on top of your regular eye exam to get a contact prescription
I was told my total would be 47.00 for a routine contact exam, however my total ended up being 140.00. I have never paid that much for my contact exams for the ten years I have been wearing contacts. I refuse to ever go to this place again as they only care about making money.
Kind polite
The doctor and staff were fantastic.
I was coming to get my eye glasses but the front staff she dot have any expectations sorry I walk out with my prescription 👎
