My experience with eye doctors of Washington has been genuinely worthy of a bad review. The doctor I met with was competent and I liked him. My issue is with the customer service, which has been atrocious. I had to reschedule an appointment, I called at least six or seven times over two weeks, every time I was on hold for a long period of time and then hung up on, or I requested a call back which never came. Meanwhile, I emailed and left messages multiple times, without ever hearing back. When I finally got someone on the phone after waiting 20 minutes on hold, the person was straight up rude. She was dismissive, interrupted, curt, and most importantly unhelpful. I admit I was irritated when she answered, but I was clear it wasn’t her fault and it was not directed at her. I just let her know that it’s been too difficult to reach someone, and she was awful. I needed to get treatment, and this place was not a reliable option. If you just need lenses, go for it. Otherwise I would avoid it because of the customer service.

I found Eye Doctors of Washington through internet search and I got impressed with the good reviews, so I decided to proceed to schedule an appointment. Ive been trying to schedule an appointment for myself and my family for almost 3 days already. The customer service response has been terrible. Lack of education, accountability and professionalism are noted from the front desk. But I insisted because I wanted to give the chance to the doctor besides the front office treatment, and when I was finally able to get the appointments on the schedule, Ive asked front desk if the doctor was vaccinated. Front desk was rude on the phone and said that information cannot be provided and asked me in bad manners if I wanted the appointment or not. If information concerning the whole societys safety cannot be provided, then I definitely dont want the appointment. Will never try scheduling again. Thank you very much.

Would give more than 5 stars if I could!! I had LASIK done in both eyes by Dr. Clinch (May 2021) and would highly recommend to anyone. The surgery was quick, easy, and I felt comfortable and informed every step of the way. The doctors are knowledgeable, but also have great bedside manner. I was on the fence about getting LASIK this year, but after talking it over with Johnny, I felt comfortable and excited to make the decision to go through with it. It has been amazing to be able to see again without contacts or glasses. I’m so grateful that I found this office!

As I child, I injured my right eye, damaging the nerves which resulted in the loss of my vision to near blindness. Over the past 75years, I had seen many eye doctors but all concluded that nothing could be done to repair the damaged nerves.It was not until I met Dr. Paul Kang of Eye Doctors of Washington that I received an encouraging prognosis. After examining my eyes, Dr. Kang informed me that I have undamaged, healthy nerves along with the damaged nerves. He felt that surgery could improve my vision.I had my surgery on my right eye and the vision was markedly improved almost immediately after the surgery. A week after, my vision has recovered significantly and I am thrilled about the results. My only regret is that I did not have an opportunity to meet Dr. Kang sooner but I am so happy for what I have gained in my sight. I am very grateful that I was under the care of such a talented and caring surgeon and very fortunate to have received the referral to see Dr. Kang.

This has got to be the most thorough eye exam I can remember. I think I had a really good one when I was in like 3rd grade but Eye Doctors of Washington blew me away. So in depth, such a wonderful staff, especially Dr Luckie! On my way to better eye health thanks to EDOW!

I cannot describe the high quality of my experience with EDOW and Dr. Clinch. I am in my mid 40s and have (had) severe cataracts. Their process as I got an appointment, got measured with multiple high tech tools for my diagnosis and then the treatment was streamlined and perfect for my requirements. Dr. Clinch discussed my diagnosis in detail (apparently it is a very specific type of cataracts) and gave me a treatment plan that was designed for my age and needs. He gave me personal advice on the technology, when to wait and when to have the necessary surgery based on the best tech available.Having done thousands of surgeries, I had total faith in his abilities. The day of surgery, they were on time, communicated what was happening and gave just the right amount of sedative to manage any pain/anxiety but to keep the surgery at its most effective (you need to be a little lucid). He even listened to me during surgery when I discussed that I would liek to work out and did a little extra procedure in the surgery itself so I could continue with my yoga/spinning as soon as possible after the procedure. The entire surgery was as stress free as it could be and the results - I have no words. I can see better than I have my entire life. It is like getting an HD TV for your eyes. Incredible. Thank you, Dr. Clinch and the entire practice.Also - COVID procedures - incredible. I am very risk averse due to health compromised daughter. I felt safe in the office during consultation and the procedure.

Top Doctors of Washington? Im not sure to whom they are referring but it certainly is not the optical department in Washington DC. You can do better at a Walmart. I am new to DC and needed an eye exam and new contacts. I scheduled an appointment with the 16th St. location. After my exam they told me that my dominant eye had switched from right to left (really? Im 60 years old. Does your dominant eye really change?).The prescription they wrote for my contacts was drastically different than anything Ive worn for the past 40 years. I called back and asked to see a different doctor. They hung up on me.Pass.

For anyone considering LASIK/PRK I want to share my positive experience. It has been two weeks since Dr. Clinch performed my procedure and I am seeing 20/15 (previously around 20/200) with no issues. I went in for a routine checkup visit. I was put off at first because I was made to wait 30+ minutes after the scheduled appointment, however, once I was seen I was pleasantly surprised by both the tech (Nick) and the doctor (Dr. Luckie). I felt they both were knowledgeable, thorough and nice to talk to. I would definitely recommend, in fact, I already have.

As someone whos usually nervous at doctors offices I can honestly say that my experience at EDOW was totally different from my norm. Dr. Clinch did my LASIK surgery this week. After an initial consultation and same day pre-op exam, I decided to schedule my LASIK with EDOW. The Refractive Coordinator ensured all my questions was so thorough I had hardly any questions, made me feel relaxed and confident about my decision, and took great care of me on the day of surgery. The surgery itself was super quick, I didn’t feel much other than the slight pressure they prepared me for, and I immediately had clearer vision when I stood up when the surgery was complete. After some slight discomfort the night of surgery, it was completely resolved by morning. My follow up exam was scheduled for the first thing the day after surgery, and my vision was 20/20 and 20/15. I couldn’t believe how clear and colorful my walk to the office was - it was like they had performed magic. Definitely would recommend them to any friend or family member and have zero complaints about the whole process. Thank you to the whole team — I am forever grateful!

I had LASIK vision correction with Dr. Clinch and could not be happier. I found Dr. Clinch via a search for best LASIK Dr.s in the DC area, and he came up via Washingtonian Magazine and other places as the best Dr, and I could see why. Do NOT base your impression on the 1st visit/consultation. The 1st visit felt rushed - they just did a simple cornea thickness exam and then talked with the coordinator before meeting Dr. Clinch. The meeting was very short - 20 min or so, and they said if I choose them Id have to make an appointment for a full exam, pay $200 deposit toward the full cost, then move forward with the procedure if all worked out. While the coordinator (Maggie Whitcomb) and Dr. Clinch were very friendly and answered all my questions, as this was my first consult for LASIK I was expecting more. However, after visits to other chain LASIK centers that gave me a full exam as well as a private practice, I wound up choosing Dr. Clinch and his team...they matched or beat the prices at the chain stores and definitely the private practice, and I figured theyd spend the proper time with me during the $200 full exam. I was SO correct. The coordinator was very responsive to all my questions after I choose them, and scheduling was very easy. The pre-op exam with Dr. Lee was excellent and VERY thorough - MUCH more than I received at any other practice. I felt very comfortable going into the procedure that everything would go smoothly and the prescription for the correction was correct. I had monovision correction - where they only corrected one eye for distance, which worked well for me. The procedure was quick and painless, and the follow-up has been wonderful, from the personal call later that night from Dr. Clinch himself to the follow-up visits with Dr. Lee. I could not be happier. Again, do not be put off by the 1st consult - Dr. Clinch and ALL his staff do an excellent job and you will not be disappointed if you choose them.

Im only 4 days post-surgery, and so far, so very good. Doctor and other staff were helpful, explained thoroughly, and answered all questions. Im hoping the final result, to be assessed presumably some weeks from now, will be excellent. For now Im amazed at how focused distant objects are and how light everything appears.

So Pleased and ThankfulGetting cataract surgery was a bit concerning for me given some ancillary issues with my eyes and the fact that I only had one working eye. So, to select a surgeon, I did my homework. Everyone I happened to talk with who had cataract surgery liked their surgeon. But, I really wanted to pick the best of the best. So, in additions to referrals, I did some research and selected Dr. Clinch as my surgeon. So glad I did.Dr. Clinch is knowledgeable, experienced and extremely skilled at his craft. His demeanor befits a successful surgeon and it appears he really enjoys making a difference in the lives of his patients.His entire team is impressive: everyone I encountered in his office seemed proficient and happy and this also contributed to a patient centric atmosphere. The practice even has a doctor on staff who provides after hour and weekend coverage for emergencies. Fortunately, I didn’t have to take advantage of this but it was comforting to know that if I had a significant concern after hours that I would see a skilled doctor on their staff rather than be sent to some emergency care center.My surgery was successful and I highly recommend Dr. Clinch and his team.

The staff were great.The scheduling experience was very poor. I had a 7:30am appointment and was told to be there a few mins early. After the initial checks, I was told the doctor would be in around 8:15-8:20. That is a 30 min wait.I had planned my day including school drop off around a 7:30 appointment.Again, no issues with the staff but recommend you are very precise on the scheduling.

Dr. Luckie is professional and well-qualified. She took time to listen to my concerns and make a plan for my future eye care needs. Her staff is friendly and and efficient. The office is helpful and knowledgeable about all the required paperwork. I highly recommend this office!!

After years of considering lasik - I finally took the plunge last month with EDOW. From the beginning, I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of the staff. The office was well organized, aligned to COVID social distancing requirements, and all my appointments started right on time. Next, I was encouraged when immediately before my consultation, I overheard Dr. Clinch tell a different consult he *did not* recommend lasik for them, and would advise them against it. I was approved for lasik and my surgery was amazingly fast and painless. (Though I admit the night after surgery wasnt pleasant.) I have had a relatively pleasant experience with Eye Doctors of Washington (EDW). I began my experience speaking with Maggie in the NW office where I received lots of helpful information about lasik and other alternate options like prk. I scheduled an appointment for the following week where I met Dr. Thomas Clinch. Aside from Dr. Clinchs merits & accomplishments, what stood out most was his ability to connect with his patients in order to facilitate a positive surgery experience. EDW took care of everything with the pharmacy and had any medications needed pre and post surgery delivered to my house (aside from on the shelf preservative free tears). The surgery was seamless and recovery is going well (2 weeks down). I did have one minor negative experience where I called 2 general and 2 office phones for EDW and couldnt get questions answered about drops. Although it was very frustrating, Maggie was able to call me about 10 minutes after receiving my email and immediately resolved everything. Overall Ive had pleasant experiences with both the NW DC and Bethesda (actual surgery done here) EDW Locations. With a lifetime guarantee on their procedures I would recommend when doing your research on lasik, to consider Eye Doctors of Washington as a viable option.

The support staff are always great at the desk. They are friendly and helpful. The techs do a great job sorting out my basic exam and taking photos of my eye. I really like Dr. Schor. He does a thorough exam, shows me my images of my eyes and explains things in a clear and concise manner. For the past several years they have been tracking me for a potentially hereditary condition. I was very recently diagnosed with melanoma which can spread rapidly and to the eye. Dr. Schor revisited my previous photos to make sure that there was nothing lurking. I always have a positive experience.

Dr. Luckie is amazing! She and her staff have excellent bedside manner and treated me with the most professionalism. He diagnosis was very comprehensive yet easy for me to understand. She worked to help me find a location to order my glasses from even though I dont live in the same state. Anybody would be lucky to be a patient here! :)

Dr. Clinch did laser on my right eye a dozen years ago. All worked out perfectly so I went back when I needed cataract surgery this month. Terrific outcome, excellent support from staff and other members of the team. Surprisingly easy procedure compared to when I did the other eye in Europe. Recommend him without reservation.

I had lasik in January of 2019 with Dr Clinch and it was an incredible experience. There were no issues as all and the staff was extremely attentive and helpful throughout the process. I would recommend it ten out of ten times if you are thinking about getting the procedure.

The Eye Doctors of Washington, both locations, 16th St.,NW and Chevy Chase were excellent. Everyone was professional. They exceeded my expectations. Dr. Schor answered the many questions I had. The longest I had to wait one day before being seen was 17 minutes. That was out of 7 appointments. Most times I was seen in under 10 minutes. I don’t feel they overbook their time slots. I highly recommend them.

No privacy in the testing area.Extremely difficult concentrating on the test while being distracted listening to conversations between other patients and the staff giving other tests in the same space.So much for “high end” medical practices. More like mills.Another example of Excellent doctors falling into the trap of ignoring need for respect for their patients .

All the doctors are best and friendly. why 3 star? because of some service desk women,theyre rude, this morning i called to make an appointment and this help desk woman hang up the phone on me because i was asking her about the issuance stuff. They dont try fitting you in the schedules and careless about giving you options that are available to work with your schedule.

Absolutely love Eye doctors of Washington! From the moment I walked in everyone was very welcoming. I did the lasik surgery and Brittany Wright was the best! She kept me informed from beginning to end. Brittany also kept in contact to see how I was doing after the surgery as well.

Dr. Luckie and the staff are always professional. I received the information needed to successfully try contacts again after 30+ years. I kept asking the same questions and they kept answering the questions without a change in their tone . Scheduling the appointment was easy and I received a email confirmation reminding me of my appointment. Thank you and continue to provide exceptional customer service.

Dr. Clinch was an absolute delight. I knew I was in very good hands. The staff relaxed me in the room, the procedure was quick and without surprises and Dr. Clinch called that evening to check on me and see how I was healing. If you are going to have this procedure, there is no better place and no better doctor. I cant say enough good things about these folks and the way the prepare and execute Lasik surgery.

I love this place & highly recommend! The staff was friendly & efficient. No waiting around on anyone. The doctor was on time, interested, & helpful. (I had Dr. Luckie & she was terrific.) They have high-tech equipment & ran tests that you won’t get at My Eye Dr or some place like that. And bonus, I picked out some great rimless glasses right after the appointment (Luwanna, the eyewear salesperson, was equally amazing.)

I had my procedure done in Jan 2018 by Dr. Clinch at EDOW. Both he and his staff are exceptional. They explained the procedure very well and the procedure itself was quick and easy. Ive had a great experience there and the follow-up care has been awesome. I would highly recommend them.

Excellent customer service, really felt taken care of. I had to get PRK -- a pretty painful procedure -- because I am not eligible for Lasik. The procedure was handled expertly and professionally. As smooth as I could hope for and wonderful after-care as well. Highly recommend.

I had Lasik at Eye Doctors of Washington and had a great experience! The procedure was less stressful than I expected and was over quickly. Immediately after the procedure I could already tell my vision had improved, and its only gotten better in the day since. The office has been very responsive and helpful with all my questions leading up to the surgery and made it as easy and smooth an experience as possible.
