Excellent, very authentic German food! Wonderful atmosphere! The owner loves to come out and check on people, making the experience that much more intimate and personalized. Most of the food is made in-house, and that which is not is imported directly from Germany. Food is made fresh, so be prepared to wait, but you can’t rush quality, and quality is definitely what you get here! Highly recommend for a nice dinner (and dessert!).
Took the family for my hubs 70th birthday last night. Second visit here, last time 6 mths ago. Once again, food was great! We had asked last time for butter schnitzel, and was good to see this had been added to the menu. The new appetizer platter was delicious and a great start. We finished with a black forest Birthday cake that was the bomb! Well worth a trip.
If heaven had a taste I would imagine it be like this Jaeger Schnitzel I had today. It transports me back to Amberg Germany. I believe once this place has frosty beers to pair with the sausage sample tray and delicious homemade mustard... it will be one one of the top restaurants in Palmer (and even the Valley). I look forward to sampling more of their tasty delights. This is a must try if you are local and tourists alike. Also, I must mention they have a local roasted coffee you can add two scoops of their homemade Bavarian cream ice cream to for an iced coffee!I also learned they make their own cheeses, sausages, mustards, teas, roast coffee and ice cream. I’m blown away by the quality and heart the owner and team put into everything they serve.Enjoy and you can thank me later for this recommendation :-) Cheers!
The atmosphere in the restaurant is wonderful, it feels very welcoming and homey, rustic and the lighting during sunlight or darkness outside fits the surrounding completely. The food was absolutely amazing, I had the Jaeger Schnitzel and it was the first time I have willingly eaten mushrooms on anything in about 15 years. The desserts are to die for, try the black forest cake, it wont disappoint. 10/10 I will be back and highly recommend to anyone else who wants to experience real German cuisine!
Excellent food! Everything made freshly to order. Nice atmosphere. After eating I requested the freshly prepared pork rinds. They were the best pork rinds Ive ever had. You can tell the oil was fresh and they were hot and seasoned well. I also adore the quaint royal blue room, the color reminds me of lapis lazuli.
This place is amazing! I LOVE Rouladen, and they dont have it on the menu, but they agreed to make my special request, even going out of their way (had to buy pickles) to do so! The new location is great, and the staff is wonderful! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
One of the best meals I have ever had.Had the pretzel, schnitzel, ginger lemon tea (YUM), and more!He makes it all fresh in the back.We really loved how much he knew (and loved) what he made, but also he didnt ever act pretentious when we had no idea what to order.Great atmosphere. Great prices. Ready to eat there again! :)
Cozy atmosphere, delicious genuine German food, very friendly people with heartwarming stories about how this restaurant came to fruition ❤️. They recently moved to the Regan Building and are just getting going, so there is a bit of a wait... SOOOO worth it! Everything is made fresh when you order it, and it’s absolutely phenomenal!!!
Excellent food and service. Most importantly excellent house roasted coffee! If his food wasn’t sourced locally it was imported from Germany. Everything is hand made and I keep going back.
Fantastic German food, excellent service. We had a party of 15. Could not have ask for better food n service. Everything homemade. Very reasonable priced. You won’t go away hungry.
My brother and I went to Edelweiss last weekend and enjoyed two types of schnitzel. The atmosphere was warm and congenial, and the chef/owner was seated in the common area and gladly engaged with us. After the meal, he treated us to a cup of freshly-roasted coffee. It was a very nice overall experience. Highly recommend!
We always enjoy eating here. They are newer (last couple years) and are offer attentive service, open to opinions all while preparing the most delicious schnitzels! Recommend!
A taste of Germany in Alaska! A welcoming staff with authentic cuisine. The schnitzel was delicious. Edelweiss is a great choice.
My wife and has our experience tonight and upon walking in the atmosphere is very welcoming, the staff is friendly and there to help with any questions. The menu has a wide verity of choice, but can a sure you will not be disappointed with anything you order. The authentic German dishes and desserts are hands down worth every bit. So if you’re in Palmer make this a must.Thank youThe Barbers
The sausage sampler was amazing. The smoked sausage was the best I have had. Best German food around. The home made ginger ale was delightful.
Amazing experience, will definitely be returning soon, so nice to find authentic German delicacies right here at home! Having lived in and experiencing Germany it made my heart happy! Owner was so nice to talk with and make good conversation, will see their establishments again soon!
Great place! Authentic German food that everyone can appreciate! Everything is made with love and traditional recipes. If you try it once, you will come back for more!
Good, authentic food. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. Definitely give this place a try!
Disappointing at best. Few customers, but overwhelmed server. Spoke with chief, who obviously eats all leftovers, amazed he fit threw doorway. I dressed appropriate for Palmer, and was ignored. Have lived in Germany for 3 years and enjoyed the people, the country and customs, and food to be amazing. However this establishment is like a McDonalds for German food, and priced like it is a fine dining element.
I went to Edelweiss shortly after it was opened (it had been a different restaurant). They were still experimenting with their menu. The chef came out to ask us what we thought. The food was delicious, similar to our experience to food we enjoyed in Germany and Austria. Why 4 stars? I wished there was more spaetzel.
Visiting from Michigan and so glad we tried this place during our trip. So many things made from scratch and you can definitely tell!!The owner was great and you can taste the love he puts into his food. Its a must try!
Great authentic food and super friendly staff. And the have the best spetzi Ive had since lived in Germany!
Excellent authentic German food. Definitely leaves you feeling full and sometimes with leftovers to take home. All food looks amazing and tastes phenomenal. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for German food or even to anyone just wanting s good meal.
The food was so good as was desert. The owner sat and explained what everything was before we ordered. He spoke of his food with lots of love and passion. Will definitely be going more often.
We had a birthday of 15 people, was the best experience in the valley for what we had. The food is to die for and the service is friendly. You feel like family here
Had an amazing German dinner in a quiet atmosphere. The Boar Schnitzel was very good. Especially with the Alaskan lingonberries. Highly recommend this restaurant for real German cuisine!
I ordered the homemade Butter Schnitzel last night. It was one of the best dishes Ive ever had in a restaurant in Palmer! I really love the food at this restaurant!
Thank you for a wonderful time.We had special needs that was well catered to. We very much enjoyed the sampler plate, and the bavarian coffee, and dessert. The service was fantastic, and great atmosphere. We highly recommend it to everyone.....
As the former owner of a German restaurant, I was following the travels of the Crazy Bavarian and was delighted to finally try his food. He prides himself on making everything from scratch, and it shows. His food is fresh and delicious and I cant wait to sample more.
Absolutely delicious. My wife and I have been to Germany multiple times, and the food at Edelweiss is every bit as good as the best food we ever had in Germany. The service was also excellent, and we will be back very soon.
Made special liver dumpling soup just for my daughter! Awesome food as always! You have try the steak, its wonderful.
It has a nice hole in the wall atmosphere with both great food and service. Its a bit hard to find if you dont know what to look for, but once you do you cant forget it. Great for lunch and dinner.
Weve eaten here twice and both times have been very impressed. Good food and friendly service made for a great experience. Food tastes wonderful
This is the best German food in Alaska, maybe even this side of the Atlantic! Omg the food was so good! Talked to the chef/owner who was really nice and serious about good food. The potato pancakes were so thick and good, the Jaegerschnitzel was freaking awesome! Do yourself a favor and go eat here, your taste buds will thank you!!!
First time experience and it was wonderful. Awesome food and amazing chef/ owner. A hidden gem em in the Palmer restaurant industry, must give a try. We will be back
Love their homemade potato chips and pork rinds. Their German food was just ok. I liked the taste, but it was overcooked. They are also moving out of that location, and dont know where they will relocate. I probably wont return. Just not great.
Ate here yesterday with my family and safe to say it was an amazing experience and definitely will be back. Amazing food, nice atmosphere and the owner was very friendly and answered any questions we had.
Excellent eating experience. The German food here is amazing. You can definitely tell they takes pride in what they make.will be going back and highly recommended.
Great food, great service, great conversation. The Spaetzle was so good and made fresh in front us!
Best German food in a long time reminded me of my favourite duty station.
The Drachen steak was absolutely delicious, the sauce was at a great spice level. The salad was also delicious abd fresh. nice inside and service was friendly and great. Absolutely 0 complaints.😊😋
Amazing food. My husband had the Sausage platter with Sauerkraut and Potato salad. I had the Gruyère Schnitzel with Sauerkraut and Spätzle both so filling and wonderful. Got some Bavarian nuts for dessert. We will be coming back to try more of the menu. Great food deserves great reviews!
The most authentic German food in Alaska.
The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed the cheesecake... Will be back. Something for everyone.
Best food in the valley by far. Everything handmade in house
I grew up in Germany and this menu is simply perfection! The staff are super friendly as well, always making you feel like you are part of the family❤❤
I went for theyre Schnitzel last year and it was good. This year the Schnitzel in fantastic! Good job Cook.
Went here for what I would call a soft opening. It is still a work in progress. Currently they are serving Cafe items. The owner is very kind and immediately offered to make us anything we wanted with a bit of notice. Their butter pretzels are very authentic German pretzels. They taste even better with the home made mustard dip (a must have, I bought a big jar for home). The Frikadellen are also authentic German along with the Brötchen (seriously, I mean REAL authentic German food). The owner made us fresh Spätzle which reminded me of my mothers. It came with a cheese sauce which I would have preferred regular shredded cheese thats gooey. The Spezi was the real deal and their coffee is really good even though it is drip coffee which I usually loath. We will be back, God willing, and are looking forward to the menu expanding. Please consider putting Kaiserschmarrn With Pflaumenkompott on your menu.
Delicious fresh and hot food came to the table. Enjoyed every morsel!
We came in right at closing time and they were very accommodating. The currywurst is the bomb. I am looking forward to dining there often!
Great food. Authentic German flair. Hits the spot everytime we go.
SO AMAZING! Authentic, everything is home made and so delicious.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Reminds me of the small family restaurants we went to often while living in Germany.
Great authentic German cuisine. Whole experience was definitely German through and through!
The food was the best Ive had in the Valley, but the staff gave me a weird vibe while I was there
Excellent service and delicious food
We enjoyed our meal and the service was great. It was expensive and some of the dishes were just ok. But everyone’s taste are different.
Had a wonderful dinner at Edelweiss. Great atmosphere, incredible food.
I went with my Aunt to Edelweiss this week after they had put out the new menus and it was a real treat. Home made mustard with dry pretzels to start, a good balance between the sweet and complex hot flavors. After a pleasant chat with our waitress both my Aunt and myself ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel (I think I spelled that correctly), with a variety of sides. Mine came with two different hot potato salads, hers with speitzel (again, hopefully I got that right) and a red cabbage salad. After the meal we tucked into woodruff gelato and a Bavarian cream parfait. Excellent service, excellent food and lovingly prepared sweets to end the meal. Best Bavarian cream (what most people would think of as a custard) of my life. Would happily go again!
Excellent food, great service, though not a place to go if you are in a hurry. Sit and enjoy the authentic Westfalen cousine. My Aunt was a four star resteraunteer from Rheinland Pfalz, and this food was equivalent to what she served. I ate the Jaegersnitzel potato salat and rotkohl. Each very excellent. Well done!
First German food Ive had and am definitely coming back!
Great food.. service brought it down to a 4.
Wunderbar!ALL of the food is excellent.Great job JD and crew!

Great Service and Excellent Food!
Delicious German food, cozy ambience,
Excellent authenticate German fare!
The food was delicious!
Permanently closed.
Delicious!
Very well. The owner can speak German, even from his grandmother, but to my taste a bit too much.
