They have a good storeroom but many items are priced higher than what Home Depot or Menards would charge. Those stores are 15 - 20 miles away. Save the gas and buy locally!

I love this place! They treat you like family. I needed bolt cutters for a 10 minute task, but didnt want to buy the massive cutters they had in stock. They offered to let me borrow their own bolt cutter! Pretty sure the box stores would not have identified the need, much less made that offer. Great people and service!

I try to buy local. Being newer to town, I decided to try this local lumber provider to pick up a couple MDF panels and 2X4s. The total was right about 103 bucks which seemed high to me. I asked the guy what was up because the price seemed outrageous. He insisted that this was a fair price for the lumber. I conceded that he was likely right and that I would trust him. I told him that I would just get it, then go home and quietly check the market price at home and would just not return if I felt slighted. The guy seemed nice enough so I just paid, said thanks and pulled my truck around to get the lumber.When I got home I was surprised to find that the big places you all know were selling the same materials at a missive price difference. The mdf panels were 18.9% cheaper and the 2 X 4s were 3.2 percent cheaper. And we have another local lumber supplier that were similarly priced.By shopping at Waterloo Lumber Company, my little project cost me about $21.84 more (almost 30 percent) than it would have shopping anywhere else. Had the 2X4s been flawless, I would not have complained but boards are similar to the self pick bin at any hardware store.I will not return. The price was bad, the product is typical, and the service was slow.

Local and friendly! If you need help, any one of the knowledgeable staff can help you from simple to technical. Slightly more expensive than big box stores, but they always have what I need and again, local. Closest big box is South County and if you figure in gas, Waterloo Lumber is the way to go!
