Had to get my car towed to get my tire changed. Driver came, was rude and demanding upon arrival… Then caught the dude going through my middle console. Tried to play it off saying he “dropped his phone.” (Bold faced lie). If you wanted petty change I would have given it to you. Oh wait that’s right! I already tipped him for his services before I caught him too…. Big guy wears a ear piece microphone and wears a dark baseball cap. Do not trust.

Be advised that the State of Connecticut prevents tow companies from charging any more than 60 days of storage. The first 5 days @ $25 per day and days 6 to 60 at $31 per day. Sergio tried to quote me $15,700 for 400+ days of storage. There are also limits to how much they can charge for towing services as well. Do the research, it could save you money.

Last month I was involved in a car accident. One where I wasnt able to clear out my belongings directly after due to being put in an ambulance. I left my cologne, deodorant along with small.other things in the car. The deodorant and cologne was right next to each other in the passenger front seat. Whoever towed my car stole my cologne. If the cologne was cheap I wouldnt care . However the cologne is Christian dior and was worth $150. I had just left my mothers house after a shower due to moving things and wanted to go to my dads clean in my new car. The accident happened within 10 minutes of leaving my moms house. I know I had the cologne in that spot.  I checked my ride home that nights car and called the hospital again to confirm they didnt take it. But I had already known that I left it in the car. Way to kick somebody when they are down. Got into an accident in my new 18k car and they really steal my cologne? When I came to clean out my belongings the deodorant was still in the same spot along with everything else that was in the car. I did not lose consciousness during the accident.  I remember where everything was. Everything besides the cologne(gone) was exactly where I left it. The owner told me how my guys have came across Playstations and xboxs and never stolen...Yes because you can fit an entire Xbox in your pocket. I just wanted to get reimbursed. I filed a police report for this. Sucks how they kick a man when hes already down. The front desk worker Joe was very professional and understanding. The boss of the towing company had a condescending tone when I spoke with him about my issue. If you get into an accident especially in the west hartford area please have a family member or friend come clean out your car before it is towed. Something valuable may go missing and unless you have dash cam rolling even with the car off on the instead, its your word against theirs. The owner is a crook. Whoever stole it will get their karma. I regret not telling my father to come to the scene of the accident to clear out all the stuff in my car. Dont make my mistake if you are conscious and able to call people after an accident.

Never in my life I’ll bring my car here ever again. I brought my car in because I need a new catalytic converter; come to find out my car need a more work than intended. I brought my car in on June 22nd and I stop every day to check the status of my car (because they always say they will call you but never do) every time I went I always got “we’re bringing in your car now” or “it should be ready by the end of the day”. By the 4th day I stopped in I noticed my car hasn’t moved from the spot they left it so I took a picture of it. On the 5th day my car was in a new spot on the lot. They basically had my car for almost 2 weeks. On the weekend of July 4 I was told I’ll be able to pick up my car that Friday or the following Monday and the total cost of 14000 with parts and labor. I’m called the shop on Monday July 5th to see if it was ready…. Come to find out they were closed for the holiday. I called one of the managers and left a voicemail. A hour later he called me back and dropped 400 off for false expectations. I got my car back that Monday…. After paying one thousand dollars to this company not even 2 days later. My engine light comes back on, other lights come back on. And my car still has the same issue. I was able to talk to one of the managers before getting my car he told me that my engine was on its way out (I have 130000 on the dash and I drive a Honda)… that didn’t sound right to me so brought it to 3 other mechanics and they told me what the issue could be and why this Company didn’t even want to try. Lastly I believe they didn’t put that much care into my vehicle because I mentioned I was thinking of trading my car in and getting something new. The only reason I believe that to be the case because the last time I spoke to one of the managers. He brought up the time I said I was thinking of getting a new car. I don’t care if I was getting a new car; that has nothing to do with anything because I’m still driving this one. So now I’m out a thousand dollars and my car still isn’t in the best shape. It’s sad because I expressed to them that I will be driving from CT to NY for college and I really need my car to be fixed. Do you think they care? I would say no based on my experience with them. I will not recommend any of my friends to go to this shop ever again!

A couple cents more for things, but the service & staff are well worth it! Opens at 9:am which is nice.

The clutch went out on my motorcycle the other day. Had my insurance company set up a tow with these guys. This was probably the best towing experience I’ve ever had. Insurance company quoted 90 minutes for arrival, but Naz showed up in 30. We got the bike loaded securely and quickly. Naz was super cool and professional throughout the process. If everyone here is like him then I’d say it’s a no brainer to go with these guys for a tow!

First time using this firm. Competitive price and really excellent work; my car looks like new again. And, what a surprise!!, returned beautifully cleaned inside and out. My experience with this company after my car accident was horrific. I was told by my claims adjuster to go to this place and pickup my items in the car and also obtain my plates. First of all the person whom was the front desk was so rude and I believe prejudice. I was told I could not obtain my plates from the car in which was totaled. The company made me sign a promise to pay in order to even have access to the car. I do not recommend anyone of color go to this place. They pass judgement on me because of my race. If your car is towed to this company please Beware if your a person of color.... BAD BAD........ People......

These guys are great. My power steering system failed and, after calling around to various locations, not only did they offer me the cheapest price, but they got the job done within 3 hours. They were also extremely courteous, very helpful, and unlike most other mechanics, they didnt try to upsell me a ton of unnecessary services. Ill definitely be coming back to Elmwood for the rest of the repairs on my vehicle as well as recommending them to my friends.

Excellent service from Freddy. After hitting a gargantuan pothole, I blew two tires. The roadside assistance service called Elmwood and they were great. Excellent communication, took great care with my vehicle, and Freddy, the tow operator, was a real pro.

I have only good things to say about Elmwood Automotive. They took my car in, sourced parts for it (I had wrecked my 5-speed transmission) and offered a fast turnaround time at a reasonable price. Everyone there is honest and hard working. I will be bringing my car back for future maintenance.

Driving to work last week I was coming to a red light and I couldnt stop at all. My brake lines went and my foot went straight to the floor. Eventually I slowed down and immediately called Elmwood Automotive. They came with a flat bed within 15 minutes and dropped me off at work. At end of business day I was picked up and brought to the shop where my truck was ready to go. I was very impressed with the promptness and customer service. The owner Sergio was very easy to deal with and his team went above and beyond to make sure I didnt lose a day of work and my truck was done promptly. Thanks Elmwood Automotive!!!! This shop literally saved my life. My car broke down on 84 right outside of Hartford and I managed to limp over to their shop. I called 5 different shops in the area and the staff at Elmwood were the only guys willing to help me on such short notice. The whole staff was super friendly, and helped fix my car within 12 hours. Would definitely highly recommend.

I needed a tow from an accident I was in on 12/12/16. It was a pretty frightening experience for me. I was picked up and towed by Johan who was so calming and kind - not what I expected from a tow! Although I used a body shop near my home, I would recommend using them based on this experience!

Extremely pleased after using Elmwood automotive today to tow my disabled car. I had called for roadside assistance through Hyundai and Dave from Elmwood arrived. Very professional and pleasant.I would use them again if I needed a tow.

Please be aware that, when calling Elmwood Automotive to tow your car, in addition to the towing charge, you will be charged $260.00/hour for their time. My car was towed less than 1 mile from the accident. The breakdown of my fee was as follows: Towing charge= $88.00, Mileage(1 mile)= $4.75, Time on Scene(45 minutes)= $195.00, Storage(2 days)= $72.00, Speedy Dry= $30.00..Subtotal= $389.75, Tax= $24.75, Grand Total= $414.50. Also, please be advised that this is one of the towing companies that the West Hartford Police calls when they are on scene and you do not specify a towing company.

Called to get my car towed. They said they couldnt because they dont have the right equipment since the car was stuck in gear (Understandable) but the person that answered the phone was extremely rude. I politely asked why he couldnt do it (out of pure curiosity) and he yelled at me saying because he cant. He wouldnt give me any information and was very hostile.

Got into accident of 84 took our car and made us pay for tow told my dad he’s not in the business to break even. That’s totally bs we paid for tow that’s our car to junk I want my money back for tow how dare you just flip flam my senior father like that he doesn’t have a cell phone to call chuck and eddies I will be calling the owner monday morning the cost of the tow was def covered by the cost of junking a car I’ll be on this business till I get my tow refund of 98 dollars thank you I will delete when this happens

Pulled into the lot and was in full crisis mode as my top was stuck down in a thunderstorm. They had it back up in 5 minutes. NO CHARGE!!! They are a Great bunch of guys!!!

I scraped the bumper of my car a few months ago and had no idea where to go. Someone at Modern Tire in West Hartford recommended calling Sergio at Elmwood Auto. I am extremely happy I took their advice.Sergio not only fixed the scrape I knew about - he also went out of is way to find another spot that needed a little work and fixed it up at no charge. Service was prompt and friendly. Pricing was fair: I got two estimates before going to Elmwood, and Sergios price was right in the middle. And four months later - after all the snow and salt nature could muster - the paint job is still like new.The next time I get in a scrape, Elmwood can count on my business.

Worst experience 2 hours and still waiting for a tow and Im the one communicating with them. They cant update customers if theres an extra delay.

Truck 14. Two stars because I made it home safely. Service was slow once he arrived. Explained he was a mechanic, & how he could easily make $1000 a week which would be more than hes making now. The flirting was a bit excessive since I didnt want to be bothered at all after the type of day I had. I do not want to be called ma or boo.He asked me if I had a boyfriend like that was a relevant question about my car. During the time of his service he was on the phone with someone. This includes driving which seemed to distract him because I instructed him to turn left and he made a right. Had to stand in the cold because I wasnt allowed in the front seat until he was done. Maybe thats the policy? His attitude definitely changed once I said I had a boyfriend. Very uncomfortable encounter. Ive been towed by AAA associated companies before and havent been as uncomfortable as this one.

Truck 8 driver was very rude and kept asking me about my personal life i was very unhappy with my service with elmwood he took his time getting out of his truck and then kept talking more the help me out my kid and i was cold i wouldnt have elmwood help me again...i also had a driver in truck 24 who helped keep my kid warm as he opened my door for me he is the one driver i liked and was great thank you truck 24 your the best elmwood is lucky to have you...hes the only reason elmwood got two stars
