I don’t like to leave bad reviews but I have had nothing but problems with this location. December of 2019, my serpentine belt went. They had to replace that and the A/C compressor the job was $1700. The compressor was $955 of that $1700. Fast forward to January, we had a freak warm day. The A/C Just want right. I didn’t think much of it. I went to Midas to have emission testing in March 2020. I asked them for their opinion on my A/C. They explained that I needed a new compressor. Midas assured me that the compressor was old and I was charged for a service that wasn’t complete. I even had the tech talk to them at pep boys because they were trying to argue with me telling me the job was done. They ended up replacing the compressor for free but how much of my time was wasted? Fast forward to this summer. My A/C now won’t hold a charge. I wanted this location to look at it because they are the last place to service the A/C. I called on Thursday 9/2/21 knowing I have the next 4 days off. She told me they didn’t have a tech on Friday so my choice was Saturday or Monday. I made an appointment for today9/6/21. I got two confirmation text messages. I arrive on time for my “appointment “ to be told there is no tech there today. Again, my time has been wasted. I have no A/C in my car, and I could have had this addressed by another shop had pep boys not jerked me around. I’m done with pep boys.
I had a great experience at pep boys of west hartford and would recommend anyone to this location. Despite how busy they were all staff were professional and punctual.
Rich was a great manager who had great knowledge of products and found out the issue with my wifes car in short amount of time. He was very professional and easy to talk to. He understood our needs and gave us his undivided time even with how busy they were. I would recommend this location to anyone in the area

This place is horrible! Has only 1 mechanic fixing multiple cars at once. This facility has about 8 different garage doors. How does that make sense?? Then their 1 mechanic takes a vacation day. So they’ll end up keeping your car longer than they have too. This place should be shut down.
Manager Rich was very helpful and their crew, work on my truck was done at very reasonable timing pricing very affordable and all my expectations where met, will definitely be coming to them again.

Richard worked on my Ford Explorer, found the issue with the sound immediately and fixed the problem I didnt have to wait too too long and cost wasnt bad, very nice people there wish store was open, I like shopping I definitely be back and hope to get new tires.

The team at this Pepboys was first class. Anthony and Cal took care of my tires and unlike most other places, I didn’t feel like I was getting ripped off. They didn’t push any extra repairs that I didn’t need and I didn’t have to wait long at all. I will definitely be a returning customer as long as great personnel like Anthony, Cal, and the technicians they have stay on. Very satisfied with the service.

This is a great place to buy your auto parts. They seem to have a much larger variety of auto parts and car care products than the other chain stores, and they also sell tires and do car repairs. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because their auto parts prices are often more than the competition, but other than that its a great place to shop for stuff for your vehicles
Went to Pep Boys in west hartford and had a great experience. Was helped by Kal, he is very helpful, nice and listened to my questions and concerns. Needed my serpentine drive belt / tensioner replaced and and oil change. Was definitely a good experience, they got me in the same day and I was out within the hour! Arrived on time for my scheduled appointment and this shop just straight up did not order the part they were supposed to replace. Not only did they not tell us in advance, they were rude and dismissive when we arrived to have the work done. Kal provided the worst customer service and we will never be going back to a pep boys after this experience.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced from associate Kal S.As part of my visit, I requested a Complimentary Vehicle Inspection. Despite repeatedly telling Kal what I wanted the technicians to check, he did not communicate with them. Instead, he looked busy making phone calls and speaking with other associates. I received neither an official inspection, nor a written record of what was found. Eventually, I lost patience and entered the shop to speak with the technicians myself! Heres the worst part: I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER WAITING and it took Kal S. over one hour to provide a price estimate for the repair costs the technician mentioned. This man has tarnished my impression of Pep Boys. In this economy, there are several more courteous and knowledgeable people deserving of his job.

I took my car to get an oil change they forgot to put the cap back on. I didn’t notice for 2 weeks so now my engine is badly damaged causing hundreds to repair. I also went to get one of my turn signal lights changed they changed the front but not the back so I just ended up doing it myself. Don’t go here just because of the rewards they’ll just screw up your car.
The workers here were very responsive and helpful, provided answers for every question I had and made sure the job was done right. I will definitely be returning here the next time I need car work done!

Walked into PepBoys to see if I can get my tire patched and was greeted by Shannon (Assistant Services Manager).She was pleasant, smiled, and ready to help. I informed her of my issue and she explained all the details of the process (i.e. timing, procedure, cost, next steps). She was extremely knowledgeable and understanding.Her team was busy, but were able to check my tire with the timeframe provided (25 minutes). Upon return, Shannon let me know they wouldn’t be able to repair the tire and provided me with an explanation on the potential concerns of the issue.Shannon went above and beyond to research new tires for me and provided me with several options (detailing the differences in each). She provided confirmation that the tires would fit my vehicle and told me her team would be able to get the job done that same evening.Shannon was patient with me during this time and while my plan was not to purchase new tires, her customer service was the game changer. She was flexible with my request and slotted me in for the first thing the following morning.I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment and Shannon’s team was ready to service my vehicle. The team at PepBoys was professional, efficient, reliable, and provided a great experience.Thank you. I will return to get additional work done here.

I visited the West Hartford Pep Boys for a brake diagnostic after receiving some conflicting information at my dealership. The customer service that I received was superior to say the least. Sara Cross assisted me in finding the best time to make an appointment and kept me up to date through out my visit. As I waited in the lounge area I was able to hear her seamlessly assist several other customers. She even remember a customer from a few months prior by name and car. I was pleasantly surprised to receive such professionalism and efficiency. The manager Lou was also quite helpful in explaining the technical aspects of what was occurring with my breaks so that I could truly understand the issue.

Genesis was awesome!! She made sure we got the same tire as before and for the same price she also was very informative with suggestions on alignments and other services. She explained every other problem with the car thoroughly and it is really appreciated. Sometimes the best service is simply behind a friendly face and genuine smile. She had lots of people to help but she didnt seem annoyed or overwhelmed which tells us she knows what she is doing. Thank you for your service!

I was in a pinch to get my tire fixed on a Sunday (bolt punctured it) so I could make it to work on time Monday. Because Pep Boys was the first place I could find open on a Sunday I called over. They were very kind - said they could get me right in. The store seemed organized and well stocked and the people at the service desk were very friendly. They werent busy, I was told the whole job would be done in 30 minutes. Ive had to get tires plugged before, I was expecting it to run $25-$60. I went to A Dong (Asian grocery) for a snack and came back and it was done. Very fast. I went in to pay and the guy insisted it was fine and not to worry about it - obviously I was incredibly thankful.Whether it be Karma or just a good business model, they did a great job getting a customer. Granted, its not a big job (and Id only go to someone Ive worked with a long time for a big repair) - but its not like something I could have done myself. I have a new car, which will eventually need new tires. Ill be sure to pay back the neighborly favor soon.
A bad Joke!!!!I came in for a air leak in my tire and have been dealing with a headache ever since.First I called while on the road and asked if they had someone available to service the tire, they replied yea, bring the car down. When i arrived 5 minutes later they told me there was an hour wait. I was upset but decided to schedule an appointment the following day.The next day they looked at my tire and determined it needed to be replaced (no big deal right)... they had to order the tire and told me to expect it the following day. 3 days passed with me calling each day asking if the tire had arrived and not yet was the answer.At this point I wanted to just walk away (should have walked away...), but i decided to go through with it when the tire arrived. Finally the tire arrived and the job was done. I asked what was the total of the tire. They told me a price $50 more than what was listed on their own website. They then proceeded to tell me the store has its own price and does not honor their own online price. At this point im simmering, but not yet boiling.Reluctantly, i just decide to be done with it, pay, and be on with my day right??? WRONG... They had an error with their computer and it shut off mid transaction. I checked my account and showed them the money was taken. One employee agreed and told me I was all set and returned my keys.I left the shop happy to finally have this terrible experience over, only to be called thirty minutes later by an employee telling me the transaction didnt go through (even though it clearly had) and telling me to return to the store for payment. Being the honest person that i am I drove back to the shop to prove the transaction went through. The most incompetent employee Ive ever met at an actual business refused to believe it guaranteeing me it hadnt and telling me to pay again, and that the other charge would disappear in a couple days.Here we are a couple days later and I have 2 completed transactions on my card causing an overdraft. Now I have to go through a whole other process to get my money back.I want you all to know my whole story and choose to do business here at your own risk. Terrible experience all around, please beware!
My first experience with this store was a couple of months ago. I blew a tire in the middle of a tough day and came in the store in tears. Not only did the staff give me a great deal on a new tire, they talked to me and had me laughing before I left. Two days ago, I needed a cover for my backseat and decided to see what options they had. They are running a sale for 50% off seat covers if you buy a set of floor mats. Samantha helped me with some options and I left with floor mats and seat covers for the whole car for $5 more than what I would have paid for just the back cover. She was so kind and really helpful. People like that earn my loyalty and consequently so does the store. Your employees are your best assets...thanks guys!!!!
They have a decent amount of parking theyre located in decent place, you can shop while you wait for your car to be repaired or inspected, they did seem a little bit slow but they were definitely experienced, for instance I lost my wheel lock key and I went in for a free brake inspection they managed to get the wheels off and check my brakes for me for FREE! It didnt take much longer than I thought but then again I did not have the wheel lock key so that has to be considered I am very grateful for their service they do seem to charge a little bit extra a little bit more per hour for working on your car then some other places I think its almost like $125 an hour please know that before you go there but they have great services and they have a great selection of parts and tools for you to buy and repair your car yourself so thats great that they have that option compared to other auto body shops which usually do not!
Hopefully everything goes well with my vehicle gettin taken care of. But either way a great place with helpful employees. Been going there for years.
Very much appreciate their help with getting wiper blades on my car. I tried to do it myself but didnt exactly work out (guess you cant do anything on a modern care these days!). Turns out the blades I purchased did not have the matching clip and only other brands did. Salesperson did an outright exchange and had the mechanic install them. Thanks for great service!
I have never had a problem with any of the major or minor services Ive had done here. Pricing was always better than the dealerships, and in some cases a diagnostic check was free vs ~$90 at the dealer. Waiting area is pretty spartan, but thats par for the course.
Surprisingly enjoyable experience, aside from the mice nest found in my air filter... Excellent customer service. The crew was super friendly and quick.
I had slow leaks in two tires and came to get them fixed. My own mechanic had already diagnosed them as bead leaks, and I said so. Pep Boys told me there was a nail in one tire and couldn’t find the other (there was no nail), that the tread was too shallow to repair (false), and that I’d need new tires. Also tried to sell me a new suspension for several hundred dollars. I told them to drop the car, and I took it across the street where they found and repaired both bead leaks for free.
Over filled oil after an oil change, they argued it though I checked it myself before leaving. After arguing they decided to fix it but I no longer wanted them touching my vehicle.Said they would call when it was done. Was done at 1:30 I called 3:15 to find out it had been finished.Terrible place to go!
I went in for a cabin air filter replacement, tune-up and oil change. The next morning I noticed my turn signals were no longer responding. When I brought it back in for them to fix they didn’t believe me when I told them it was an electrical issue likely caused by their services so they wasted their time checking all the bulbs to no avail. They then took over a day before telling me they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it and I’d need to take it into the dealership. They graciously told me they wouldnt charge me for the service, as if they were doing me a favor when they were the ones who caused the problem in the first place! I don’t know if they just don’t have much experience with Mazdas, or were reluctant to take the blame for the damage they’d done, but I won’t be bringing my car to them anymore. On top of that, they disregarded my request to use standard oil and up-charged me for high-mileage. Its a little thing, but its dishonest. I’m disappointed because my family has been visiting Pep Boys for years and I’ve always trusted them to do me right.
Must say no problem with service with extra savings but few people there try to charge extra bucks for just regular check up and info of whats wrong and it happens with me multiple times when they said gasket water pump leaking and said to look after by charge but I didnt it was too much high for me and same lady told that there is no problem with that when I return there after long time without fixing so trust me their are over smart to loot us be careful I say most major issue with eyes seen cant ignore but dont listen with problems you feel it. Same like story with my recent last time oil pan gasket replace its engine leaking told; now perfect dont see gas spending cost more or less even no noise‚ they see no problems with it next time visit with those person. Wonderfulness there still I go as regular customer no problem if u can handle it situation!!!
Due to all of the negative reviews I was very skeptical about going here. However, I have to say that my experience was great. I needed to get a new starter installed in my car, and couldnt find anywhere else that was open on a Sunday. I called and scheduled an appointment quickly, and they even offered to come and pick up my car for me as it wouldnt start. I didnt even have to go into the store other than to pay for the service and pick my car up. They charged me exactly what they quoted me for, and they were extremely quick and hassle free about the entire process. I would say that if youre in a pinch, this is definitely a good option as long as you go into it with realistic pricing expectations.
Convenient tire-changing appointment times, but too expensive to go there again. They did not do the alignment that I paid for. Theyll tell you your car needs work when it doesnt. Told me I needed new bearings when they were fine. Watch out for this place, theyll steal your money.
Bought 4 tires for my childs vehicle and a tire FALLS off the car while she is driving the car!!I will say the Manager Shanon was professional when I called and offered to tow car back to pep boys so they can look at it. But, we dont want to take another chance with our childs safety.
As soon as I arrived the cops were there because there was an argument with a customer and employee. I went for a slow leak on a tire in which I was told the wait time was 30 minutes. They too 1 hour and 45 minutes to check the tire only to tell me it was unrepairable. Due to the car being AWD I had to get four tires which I understand. First they tell me they had my size, then they tell me they didnt, finally they tell me they did. When it was all said and done, I was there for 5 hours and spent $550.00. Horrible experience and definitely do not recommend that location.**I also notice they just copy and paste the responses for bad reviews in here. 🤔**
$30 to switch a tire, when Walmart charges $12. Talk about mark up.Do they use special air? do they talk dirty to the tire? For that price they better hug and kiss the damm tire .Good thing to buy a tire machine to gouge people.

They are the best a very courteous and very great at their job kind-hearted very kind-hearted if its something that doesnt need to be charged for simple for a woman especially because us women dont know nothing about nothing really help me out plastic they put under your car and I didnt know how to put it back plus I needed to put it up on a lift and I didnt have a good support and of course they took it right away put it on a list fix the practicum and put it back up and gave me the keys and say you dont want anything have a nice day I was like oh my God God bless you and I wanted to give them a tip but there was no ATM around I dont carry cash but Im going to get them the tip theydeserve I have nothing but good things to say about Pep Boys is the place to go

They were polite... but I would hope so considering I scheduled my oil change online hours in advance and they didnt expect me and it took an hour and a half. They also didnt go over my vehicle inspection. I might have gotten my brakes tightened but I guess they dont want my money. Too bad for them. Pep boys in southington is the best in that state. I would never return here.
If the point of fixing a problem equals a great review I give this Pet Boys in West Hartford 1 star.My car was vibrating/shaking when idle. I picked up the car and was told all set.Guess what, took it home and it still was shaking when idle. Imagine being told it was fix, and your not a mile away and you get to a stop light and the car is still shaking as it was before . GrrAlso, I dropped it off in the afternoon at like 2-3pm and seemed like it might be enough time to work on the car, but if not figure Id get a call. However, they juts kept the car overnight and did did not call me, nor did they say they might keep it overnight when I was in the store.Then the next day they NEVER CALLED ME even for an update or that it was ready..I had to call them and ask for an update and was told oh yeah its ready. Unbelievable.Summary - They did NOT fix the problem. They did not call me any any time to tell me they will keep the car overnight, what they did before doing it or that the car was ready. I am a pretty reasonable person and let things slide all the time, but what a terrible experience.I will never, ever use PetBoys again. Pretty sad that this is how you lose customers. I imagine the ceo or many management would hate to read this review but this is how bad customer experiences happen. #sad.
Is the worst service I have ever received in my entire life.Staff made a lot of mistakes during the service and billing process.Some of them are very impolite and unprofessional talking constantly over you and disregarding any question you might have.Wait time is longer than any shop Ive been, even making an appointment before hand.Prices being charged are not transparent with Pep Boy auto website or other websites overcharging way more.
Never again will I use Pep Boys! Had them do a snow tire change over on my brand new car, after waiting for 3 hours I finally leave, next thing you know my tire pressure light comes on. I stopped at a gas station to check my tires and discovered they did not put enough air in all of my tires. So I filled them all to spec, a week later my tire pressure light is on again, I figured out what tire it was and filled it again. A week later the same tire is low, so I go back to them to fix the issue they caused. Watched the tech look puzzled at my rim, take the tire off, re-seal it and put it back on. While paying for the issue they caused I asked the guy at the counter what the problem was and he tells me it was a nail. Oh wow a nail, thats funny because funny because I checked the tire for nail and could not find one and this must have happened the second you put my tire on, wow interesting. My receipt also said nothing about a nail so thank you for the lie you just told. Now a week later the tire is low again. Never again will they ever come near my car. I am going to take my car to a real tire shop to find out what the hell Pep boys did to my tire!
This is a good place to get easy work done like an oil change. They are fast and the prices are good.
Its decent service but, they like to overcharge you. 40 dollars for a serpentine belt and 110 for the labor. I wont have this work done there. Dont do any basic work here. Only specialized jobs.

What can I say about Pep Boys. Well I do not know why they hire people with no automobile knowledge at all. These people are pretty lost. I have never seen so many people standing around doing nothing. Some advice for you Pep Boys, why dont you hire one or two people that have some knowledge of the auto business and pay them a decent wage, instead of fifteen people that know nothing and pay them minimum wage. You think your customers dont realize this! I guess common sense is the thing of the past.

I am a regular customer at Pep Boys. Most of the time I am satisfied with the service but I find myself having to actively manage their service and check up on them rather than trusting they will complete the work that is needed in a quality manner. I am not a car repair expert by an means but I am familiar with what parts need to be fixed when something is wrong and so I have to follow up with them to make sure they repaired or replaced the part that needed it. I also have to carefully check the invoice to make sure they arent adding something they think I need without checking with me first. I once did have an issue with my struts and had to go back 3-4 times to get the entire problem addressed. It was annoying to have to return that many times and it was also annoying to be told lies about what was wrong. I quickly corrected the clerk and set her straight. I dont like dealing with that clerk so I avoid her. I prefer Pep Boys to going to the dealer because the dealer service is just as bad. So Im choosing car maintenance and repair services closer to home for convenience and not quality of service.
I do not recommend getting your vehicle repaired here. The first time I brought my car in they gave me something like a $1200 estimate for repairs. One of the expensive repairs that I declined was replacing the ball joints. When the manager went to show me how they test for bad ball joints, he looked surprised as nothing moved, showing there was nothing wrong with it. I let them replace all the shocks even though only one was broken considering I bought the vehicle used and was not sure when the shocks were last replaced. They then replaced the power steering hose, which is one of the reasons I came in in the first place, the other was the broken shock. A little while later I had a friend of a friend make small repair on the transfer case shifter and I had him test the ball joints just to be safe. He said they were fine. Fast forward 6-8 months later and I decided to give Pep Boys another shot. I needed my exhaust repaired. They came back with a $1000+ estimate to cover the cost of replacing the entire exhaust from the manifold back. I knew that was not necessary, my muffler was new and only the rear pipe and possibly that cat needed to be replaced. Then I noticed the additional suggested services, one was to replace the shocks and the other was to replace the power steering hose. Are you kidding me? At that point I just said give me my car back. I went next door to the Meineke and got the repairs done for LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE. They did a real good job too.

Gave me a 45 min estimate on a SLOW day and made me buy a lemonade in store while i had enough water in my car. Extremely slow and lousy people at the service desk. The guy literally took 30 seconds to get to a stapler from the next desk and pin my papers. Most of all apart from service and labour these guys are charging 7.8% of total in the name of Shop Fee for God only knows for what. The service person coulnt explain what is it for.PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE FOR ANY SERVICE
Made a reservation at 7am on line this morning for 10:00am. At 9am, I got an email asking if Id like to reschedule because I missed my appt, which makes no sense. I called them and they said that they had the appt at 10:00, no one cancelled it. I got there at 10:00 for a leaking tire which I thought needed to be replaced. After waiting ONE HOUR AND A HALF, the guy asks me which tire it is!! With an appointment, it took 2 hours to get out of there. Totally a joke. The guy at the desk was very polite and apologetic and he explained that the reservation system loads up 6 people per time slot, regardless of the staffing at that time. He did end up not charging me for applying sealant to the leaking tire, and writing on the receipt that I could have a free oil change. Like I would ever go there again. Summary: TWO HOURS wait when I made an appointment in advance. And the inflation warning light is back on!

I had an appointment at 10 a.m. for a two hour job. 2 hours later I came back to the location to find my car still sitting where I parked it. The person behind the counter said they were behind and seemed confused that my car wasnt being worked on yet. I wish I had looked at all the one-star reviews before I booked an appointment here definitely not going back.

I showed up at 1130 and the rep named (Ian) said to come back at 1pm due to the fact that they was running an hour behind, so I came back at 1245pm and same rep (Ian ) said one more hour and to come back at 2pm. That is 2 hours behind my scheduled appointment at least five me a courtesy call letting me know that they are running behind.
My 07 mazda needed a tune-up. I was greeted by Genesis, who patiently explained what services were included in their tune-up packages. She didnt get irritated at all, when I was confused over the pricing. She also helped me select a headlight cleaning product. I had a hard time choosing between the Armour All and Turtle Wax Brands. Genesis recommended the Turtle Wax product.It was an overall positive experience for me.
Wife had a scheduled appointment, that she showed up on time for (having sacrificed needed work-time to do so). Rep (who also happens to be the manager) told her he would not be able to get her in today. My wife is annoyed, but asks if a same time appointment another day can be made, as her availability is limited, being an accountant during tax season.The manager replies that he makes 6pm and 7pm appointments, but hardly ever gets to them because so many 5pm appointments are made. All the while, he was incredibly demeaning and had a “it’s your problem, not mine” attitude.Neither of us will ever bring any business to Pep Boys from here forward, and will be actively discouraging friends, family, and all who will listen from doing so. What an incredibly poorly run business.To any Pep Boys corporate or HR presence that may see this review, it’s time to clean house in West Hartford. Your employees there will actively lose you customers and profit if allowed to continue their conduct unchecked.
Avoid at all costs - Pep Boys either lied to me or broke the law by allowing me to drive away with broken sensors (I replaced two but my low pressure light would not go out so I returned and found out Pep Boys broke all 4 tire sensors during a routine tire change - $80+ each). I also waited until noon to have 4 tires replaced after arriving early for my 8AM appointment (they open at 8). Then, I found out Costco not only charges less the price for tire sensors, but if they break a sensor they replace it for free. After 12 years of driving, this terrible experience warranted my first and only online review..
Cheaters, I think this explains it ! But let me still.I asked them to find the fault in my cars window and they charged me $45.00 just to press the power button.Then they gave me an estimate of double the price of the product that needed replacement, although they claim they will beat competitors price by 5%.Will never recommend this place to anyone.

Help was offered as I walked in the door at minutes before close. Staff was very friendly and accommodating plus I got the product I wanted when Auto Zone had a only had a brand I wasnt familiar with.
Had an appointment at 8 and had to get on the road quickly. They schedule 4 other appointments at 8am with only 2 mechanics. They also didnt even start on anyone waiting until 8:30. An appointment is an appointment and these guys clearly do not respect anyones time.
To get parts is pretty good but to get service done on your automobile my opinion depending on the service you have done on your automobile double check cuz the service advisor on the service writer didnt know too much of what he was talking about when I went thats why I didnt get my car serviced there

They must have a school to teach employees how to swindle you. Never saw so much deceit and shameless robbery. Go here if you hate your money and your car.
Their service was fast and efficient but to be honest I thought they were a little pricey than usual. They have a nice waiting area with coffee for the customers and they have a huge collection of parts and they also sell clothes, hoodies and hats.
Do you enjoy wasting 2.5 hours of your life waiting for an oil change? Than this is the place for you! I asked what was taking so long and the response was “ oh we haven’t gotten to it yet”. I give customer service a 0 and I will never return.
Went here with a work truck, visit went well. Quick service, and employees were helpful.
Bought replacement headlight bulbs for a DIY project here. When I was so clueless I couldnt do it, they cheerfully did it for me. Not for free, but less than my dealer would charge. And they let me return the wrong bulbs I got and purchase the right ones. They were friendly and accommodating and didnt once laugh at me for being a DIY fail :) TV and coffee while you wait!
