My husband got rims and tires from this place earlier this year under the impression that the total cost would be right around $4,500. Months later, he was told the total cost would be $9000. Ok, whatever, he likes the rims so he continues to pay on them. When he switched jobs, they were unwilling to work with him until he got paid and threatened to file charges on him for failure to return rental property. We had made arrangements for them to come get the tires on Saturday Oct.9th,2021.. Waited around all day, no one ever showed. Got in touch with someone on Monday Oct.11,2021 and they said they would be here around 4:30pm..Again, nobody showed and when my husband contacted them, they said someone would be here Wednesday(yesterday) They contacted my husband and said they wouldn’t be able to make it that day due to being understaffed and made arrangements for my husband to bring them to the shop on Saturday Oct.16th,2021. By the time my husband got of work today, he was receiving threatening texts saying if he didn’t bring them back today, they would be filing charges against him. These people are rude and like to try and bully people. I would not recommend doing business with them. They don’t even deserve 1 star. TJ and Steve have horrible customer service skills and I will be reporting them to corporate.

I purchased rims and tires from this business on Tuesday. After my purchase, my tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) started to malfunction in my vehicle, displaying a message across the instrument cluster to “check” that system every time I started my vehicle. I took my vehicle back to the business to have the issue addressed since they put new rims, tires, and new TPMS sensors on my vehicle. When I returned, one of the representatives that was there made me believe that they could fix the issue with my vehicles TPMS, so I waited in line for over an hour to get the issue resolved. They then took my car into the bay area and after 10 minutes later, they returned my car to the front of the business only to let me know that they could not address the issue. When I asked why, the representative said that “they are not a tire shop (whatever that means, because they clearly only sell rims and tires), and that the business is not equipped to address those types of issues.” I was hoodwinked. I was under the impression that this business knew what they were doing and aware of what was obviously necessary to be done after they installed aftermarket equipment on my vehicle, in order for the aftermarket equipment to function properly with my vehicle. All three representatives in the store that day already knew that they did not have the knowledge or equipment needed to properly swap and SYNC the new rims, tires, and TPMS sensors to my vehicles computer module. Nor, did they have the ability to diagnose any issues with the TPM system, which is clearly associated with “new rims and tires.” I then explained to the representative who spoke to me the reason stated above is reason why people come to their business, to get aftermarket rims and tires PROPERLY fitted to function on their vehicles, not to cause issues. The “we are not a tire shop” was reiterated to me by the representative. So I asked the representative how did he plan to properly address the issue with my new rims, tires and TPMS sensors, and I was told to go to the dealer with no further assistance offered. So I did. From the dealer: Rent A Wheel never properly synced the aftermarket rims, tires, and TPMS sensors with my vehicles computer module. To do this PROPERLY, they would need an automotive scan tool (obviously Rent A Wheel is not equipped with this) that is equipped to plug directly into the vehicles control module (the port/plug underneath the steering wheel) to allow the aftermarket technician to update and or change the information that is being sent to the vehicles TPMS module from TPM sensors of the aftermarket tires and rims. The aftermarket technician also need to update the rim and tire size with the vehicles computer module through this process to AVOID indicators across the instrument panel (I went from 18’s to 22’s on my vehicle), informing the driver to have the system checked. Rent A Wheel, if you do not have the proper knowledge and equipment to address issues that arise from your aftermarket equipment after it is installed, then why aren’t your representatives telling your customers that before they purchase your product? Obviously the consumer does not know this information, that is why we bring our vehicles to shops like yours, under the impression that your technicians know what they are doing and that they are well equipped without any outside assistance. It would have been nice to know that your business ONLY sell rims, tires, and TPMS sensors to put on your customers without any further diagnostic capabilities if issues were to arise. Reviewer’s beware! After you have paid your hard earned money for something (I bought my rims and tires outright, and I did not rent) at a place like this with insufficient equipment and knowledge about what they are doing, it’s easy for them to tell you to go somewhere else to spend more money on issue(s) that they have created.

Not A Real Tire Shop!!!I ordered a tire online and needed a shop to put in on for me . I live 3 minutes up the road and figured I would google shops near me and this one popped up. So I called and said how much do you charge to install a tire on my car and the guy was like well did you buy the rims from us? No I didnt they are just factory rims why would I buy them from you guys. He said no we cant put your tires on if you didnt they them from us. Ok thats fine but you would think they would say yea but I have to charge such and such and hey while youre here check and see what wheels we have in case you want to upgrade in the future. Idk I guess thats the business.

I called to paid off my wheel twice. Both times they said they will do it but didn’t. The last time the lady said that the manager would fix my account but never did. Should have known when I was buying the wheels and I had another finance option and they said going through them was a better deal that I was about to get screwed. Never again.

They had my tire size in stock has me in and out in less than an hour good price for buying on credit with a early pay off option to save money on interest and financing fees.

Called 3 times yesterday about requirements and if they had anything that would fit my vehicle. Was told that there were 3 different designs that would fit. So, i drove from linwood to winston salem to look at them. When i get there, i asked the guy at the desk. He said ok and showed me the designs i was told. Then, he proceeded to tell me that they wouldnt fit my vehicle because of the bolt pattern. So, i guess i drove all the way to winston for absolutely nothing. Because someone gave me wrong information.

These guys was great!! Awesome attitudes an great customer service couldnt really be much happier!! Price was fair and when I had got home I seem a small defect in one of my rims an the next day they got on it an order a replacement!! Will recommend to everyone!!

The staff at this location are super friendly and were awesome to work with!!! I have to give a special thanks to Jory who worked with me all day on Saturday to ensure that I could get the tires I needed, and Ed the tech who stayed an hour after closing to put my tires on, and the manager Dray for staying that extra hour as well. Rent a Wheel in Winston is awesome especially Dre! They work with you to find something that will work with your budget. I just recently had an issue with one of my tires and they replaced it at no charge. Great people to work with!

I was really happy with this business until it comes to actually needing the services you pay for they are great..God forbid you need to get your tire fixed because its flat and your told that you need to bring them the tire the following Monday because tomorrow is a holiday..then the girl that answers the phone gets rude and hangs up on you because next Monday is not acceptable.especially on a holiday weekend when you need your truck..
