Great Old School Hardware Store! This place may be a little cluttered and scattered but they have an unmatched selection of hard to find parts. Their fastener selection is truly unmatched and has saved me from high priced specialty orders in the restoration of several classic cars. The staff is very knowledgeable and will take good care of you as well. Love this place!

...nice, well stocked store, people are helpful there. The only problem I encountered over there is cash register people. They seem to ring in the prices randomly. Apparently their own sticker price on the tools does not matter for whatever reason. They dont inform you about discrepancies, just charge you and hand you receipt without the word. Here are two examples of the issue. I got charged originally $22.99 and $12.99 for the each item. Check out the pictures with price tags. I was not informed about the difference until clerk charged my card and I noticed on my own the final charge being too high. I want to support the competition to Lowes and HD, but if this behavior continues, I might need to quit...

Hundreds of thousands of hardware items to find in this independent hardware store. They literally have merchandise stacked on top of merchandise, which makes finding what youre looking for a challenge. They could certainly use more space. Id be surprised if they didnt have the hardware you were looking for.

They have a lot (50,000) of hardware. Growded into tall shelves; with narrow aisles. You need a native guide to find the interesting items.

5 Stars are 5 too few! Talk about what appears to be millions of pieces and parts and items from the old days till the present. if you can’t find it there it will not exist.It is like walking back in time and the staff are great and the propane is the cheapest in the state. They don’t mark up the propane one cent either.I am only regretting that I did not find them 25 years ago but can’t do anything about that now.Wow I’m a customer for life!

If you need a doo-hickey or a what-cha-ma-call-it, more than likely you will find it here! This place has been here for a million years and some of the stuff they sell looks like it has been here longer. The minute I walk in they always ask me if they can help me find what I am looking for, and they always do. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, and it is difficult to find this type of expertise at Lowes. 50% of the time I get a key made at other places it does not work, and when I get a key made at general hardware it always works. You know it is a really good hardware store when it has the delicious smell of a time gone by and really nice wise old guys who can find exactly what you need for just a few dimes.

It doesn’t bother me that the store is exceedingly cluttered and it’s almost impossible to find anything without an employee’s assistance, it bothers me when they are so rude when you do need their help. The men that work there are just curmudgeons, cranky and old and act like your asking them for the world. The one woman (who is typically a cashier) is always pleasant and nice - I think she feels bad for how awful the others there are. On a positive note, they probably have anything and everything you could possibly need from a hardware store and more.

This is the place to go for impossible to find items. Odd key you need copied, hinge no one else has, plumbing piece that is no where else. I dont think they hire anyone under 50. The experience here is amazing.

As a female I feel very uncomfortable going to large hardware stores alone. I’ve been harassed in the past at the “depo” type stores. I walked in here and the lady at the front greeted me and was very helpful. They weren’t pushy but gave me the help I needed and I was in and out super fast. I will be back. Highly recommend this store to anyone and everyone!

5 stars all around. Ive been going to General Hardware for many years and have always received great service. Ive frequently gone looking for some obscure item for a home project or a screw/bolt/bracket for a 40 year old British car and they have it or find something that will work. They know what they have and where it is in the store.

It doesnt look like much on the outside, but it is actually fairly large and extends far back. Employees were all very nice and helpful, and it has everything youd expect from a hardware store

Employees act as if they all work for commissions. Be prepared for ill treatment if spending less than ten dollars. Id gve it no stars if available.

This place has it all, especially when you cant find it and need it today.

This is such a great little store. They literally saved me once when my car key was breaking in half. I couldn’t find anywhere to get a key made, aside of trying to order one from a dealership.

If you have never spent time in a classic old school hardware store you have to visit this place. Stacked to the rafters there isnt a thing you could possibly ever need that they couldnt find somewhere. The anti-Home Depot anti-Lowes shopping experience is just spectacular. I hope it never goes away. I love it.

Best hardware store on the planet....Ben and Jerry have both been there 20+ yrs. Maybe hard to find but its in there and they know where it is and will help you within reason. Way better than any box store,just no comparison and worth every penny of you think it costs more.

The best assortment for any hardware stuff you may need. I have made a special trip from 34 miles away to find a specific spring and a stainless steel type of screw which I could not find anywhere else. Excellent place!!!

If you need it, they have it. The bliss of walking through a small store absolutely crammed with wonderful, useful things cannot be underestimated. There are actual living, breathing, knowledgeable people there to help, which is uncommon in the big box stores. I shop here every chance I get. Closed on Sundays which we dont view as a drawback.

This is a good hardware store. Its not one of the cleanest or friendliest in town, but you can find what you need if you know what youre looking for. They definitely dont deal with the bad attitudes or seemingly helpless customers but just walking around in the store is a magical trip. Theres merchandise absolutely everywhere and it is very old-fashioned. It looks much smaller from the outside, but once you walk in you can hardly make it to back of the store. Old staff, old store, charming products, blast from the past, fun and interesting.

They have excellent service and have what you need! Floor to ceiling stuff makes a cool atmosphere. Classic!

I had a couple of keys cut here last week and they don’t fit the lock. I came back for either a refund or a new set of keys. I got the new set of keys, but the man in the back who does that was incredibly rude to me. It’s not my fault they were done wrong the first time! He acted as if it were a huge hassle for him. But I’m the one who had to go out of my way and spend extra time having their mistake corrected.

In this world of Amazon and Home Depot, its reassuring to know that a store like this even EXISTS. If youre looking for old time customer service and nice folks that actually know what theyre talking about, then GH is for you. I even love the smell of the place, exactly like I remember from my childhood. If it exists, they probably have it (where can you buy just one, single screw??). Please support them.

Ive been in there before, but today needed some long screws. There is no way i would have found without the great help there... they are very knowledgeable and found exactly what I needed. Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man ... Good job guys

This is a REAL Hardware store. They literally have everything a hardware store needs to have. They offer specialty services like re-keying door locks etc. I really enjoyed my shopping experience.

If you dont find what youre looking for at this place, it doesnt exist. Old time hardware store selections packed to the ceiling. You would expect process to be high, but they are right in line with the big box stores. An institution

This place is the local hardware store from my childhood on steroids! Despite the size they have a really, really good selection of tools (some hard to find stuff too!). Definitely worth the trip even if its a little out of your way!

Good selection and good, quality brands. Ive seen some negative reviews, and I dont judge since I cant really consider the source, as I dont know those reviewers. That said, the folks in there know their stuff, have the stuff you need, and probably have to put up with a lot of stuff in the course of a week. All Im saying is, Dont be a douche, and your experience should be good, like mine. Hardware as I remember it in days gone by. Totally dig it.

This is a cool place with tons of helpful, yet mysterious items. The staff knows where everything is and are available to advise you, unlike large box stores where you have to chase down an employee.

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly-- you can bring your (leashed) dog inside with you!

One of only two or three older Ace stores remaining on north side of Atlanta that carries most of Ace inventory. Can usually find whatever youre looking for here when cant find it elsewhere, and prices always reasonable. Not quite five stars; sometimes crew is a little crusty.
