James and Carter helped me the two times Ive been there. Exceptional customer service (coming from a hospitality manager). Both were very knowledgeable and made me feel at home. We spoke about my 40-year-old Raleigh road bike and the parts Im looking to make upgrades to. James showed me how to change an inner tube and Carter guided me through trainers and where to get a second hand since their products are new. When I bought my generational bike recently (I get one every 15 years), there was an issue with a scratch on a part of the bike.The team had taken the time to inspect the bike front to back upon receipt, they had noticed the scratch, contacted the manufacturer and then contacted me to tell me about the issue and what they were doing to get a new, unscratched part for me.That level of ownership and accountability is not seen and has secured my loyalty for life.I highly recommend this shop and the team of dedicated bike enthusiasts who will go the extra mile to help you, no matter what level rider you are.

Yes they help you at first but if they cant they just leave you hanging. I mean, its fine if you dont have the answers or you have no clue what you are selling. But to just leave the Customer thats just unprofessional. Dont lead on the customer and try to act smart and know everything. A courtesy answer saying that we dont know or Im sorry we tried our best, is there anything else I can help you with is the right way to do it.I asked them about a particular stem. They made all these promises about finding out info about it even saying that they have a good connection with the actual company but then after couple of weeks after not finding the right answer they went in to hiding.fine NC Velo, if you failed to give me the info I need, Ill definitely not hold it against you. But at least give customers heads up that you dont know the answer....This place has no one word. I do hope this shop doesnt victimize other cyclists out there

I finally got down to NC Velo to check it out. Staff was super helpful and walked me through everything. Honestly, I didnt expect that but that was super nice. Planned on buying 3 things; helmet, shoes, and peddles for a bike I dont have yet. They walked me through buying all three things and educated me on all of them along the way, making me a more informed customer for sure.The staff continued to provide education on bikes that I had talked about and even suggested looking at some alternatives. So Ive got some homework to look at for researching bikes. Very racial place..looked at me like what was I doing in there shop.. even though door was open, they made it a point to tell me they are closed and did not offer any good customer service... I guess because I was a big black guy..

They know a thing or two about bikes, but apparently not mine.Ive taken my bike in 4 times for the same problem (the drive train), and continues to have this problem after about 2 months. More recently, i took it in fir a suspension tune. I gave them the approval to fix it a week ago, then called them today only to be told they havent even started because they were waiting for my approval. Good bike knowledge, terrible business side.

If your looking for a friendly experience when shopping for a family bike this is not the location .the personality of the staff here is slightly better then a Russian Prison camp. they will act like they never saw you before even after several purchases, and you are made to feel as you are bothering them while your spending money here. They cater to the advanced Bike community but can care less about return customer appreciation . You can find several family owned shops in Charlotte with much better buying experience. another note: This store does not practice Covid-19 prevention . customers must wear masks. not a single staff member was wearing gloves or a mask as they touched the dirty wheels and parts and then the register without washing hands however they do not take cash to prevent Covid-19 Transmission.

I have a giant talon 1 i rode the wheels off for a year and a half. I had some difficult chooses to make and had a plan. I stopped by the shop one day and meet mirza and ran by him my dreams for the bike i love. After meeting with him and showing him my bike a plan was hatched. Today i picked up my bike and it rocks!!! The helpful and carrying staff made my dream come true and i thank them all and winston!!! I highly without a doubt will always in the future shop nc velo and will see them in the spring for another dream. My full suspenion giant trance.I have completed the final phase of my upgrade to my giant talon 1. Mirza has installed a new fork and stem for me and I finally have it dialed in. I am so glad I purchased the shimano XT all around. I had the funniest ride today so much so I forgot I had to work and kept riding. My and my bike are one again thanks to NC Velo. We are blessed to have such an awesome group in the area I cant thank them enough. Im not a review kind of guy but they really really deserve our support to keep this shop riding into the future. Oh, almost forgot HI Winston.Well I have an update. The upgrade to my giant talon1 is ripping the trails like the first time I rode it after mirza worked it for me. My dream for the full suspension bike was not in the cards this year. I ride the trials around twenty times or more a month. The weather this fall with the hurricanes have placed a damper on what I love to do. So I had another plan. I stopped by the shop for two bottle cages for my hard tail. I hooked up with mirza to see about a 2018 rode bike. He helped me find a beautiful 2019 giant tcx slr cyclocross bike. The dream continues because they allowed me to drop a.deposit on the bike, the bike stands, and some great lights for the bike. With this addition in my.bedroom I can ride.everyday now in the future. I cant say enough about this group we are blessed they desided to open a bike shop. Im cutting this one short I can go ride my new bike tonight. Oh, it was great to see Winston again.The final chapter has been started I purchased a new giant trance 3 full suspension mtb. The bike hit the shop and Mirza hooked it up and the new bike feels fantastic underneath during the test ride. What a great ride, Jay got me pedals for the bike so I could just ride when I got it home. Ride I did the bike feels awesome on the trail fish tailing in the corners, rolling over stumps and rocks, and for me a ride not complete until the handlebar grip rubs a tree. Awesome entry level trail bike and I got the frame I wanted now and I can, in time, have the shop upgrade some components for me. I could not be happier with the upgrade to my hardtail, tcx cyclocross bike, and finally the trance 3. Thank you Jay, Klye, and Mirza. Oh and Winston whos on vacation. Happy riding to all and a bird song for everyone.

Great shop! Truly try to do what is best for the customer not just what will make them the most money. Highly recommend the shop for equipment and fittings!They take the time to get to know you and make sure they put you in the right equipment. Excellent, friendly, low pressure service at a fair price.I was looking for a Giant Stance 2 2019. They didnt carry them because they said they dont carry any bikes that they wouldnt ride themselves. I was initially skeptical of the approach but was relieved when he asked me what I wanted out of a bike and took the time to get to know me. I discussed the trails I ride and my budget and they led me to a couple of options in my range that were far superior to the Stance 2 that I came in looking for. I liked the 27.5 initially but realized after being invited to ride a couple of other options that I really liked the Giant Trance and the Specialized Stump Jumper MUCH better. They sized me properly to an XL frame instead of the Large that I thought I needed and tuned the suspension on both bikes for my weight to test in the parking lot. I took my time and was encouraged to try different sizes and models to see what I liked better. I left after an hour or so to grab lunch and think it over, no pressure or weird let me get your info pitch, just awesome take your time, see you in a bit. I thought it over and came back in to welcoming smiles like I had been there 10 times before. I chose the Stumpy and couldnt be happier. I will be back and I will recommend the shop to my friends. My buddy that was with me needed some accessories and they were kind enough to extend my discount on accessories with the purchase of a bike to him so he could get some accessories. The guys are awesome and I had a fun, relaxed shopping experience.Side note to one of the negative reviews. The bikes were priced appropriately to the manufacturers retail price that you can find on their websites. Good luck with the $70 Wal-Mart Bike. There was no artificial mark up or funny business. They offer zero % financing just like all of the other bike retailers in Charlotte and the prices are the same as the other retailers. The difference here was the wide selection of frame sizes available on the floor and they threw in a free set of basic pedals to get you started. These arent included on the bike if you ordered it from the manufacturer for the retail price and they do eat the cost of these. Granted they arent especially expensive but I appreciate the little things. I know I need better pedals but Ill tackle that another day. They were great at giving you the space to make that investment at your own pace with no pressure or unnecessary up sell.:::::::UPDATEIve been very happy with the stumpjumper, handled local trails and Beech mountain downhill. Within moments of walking in, Kyle had found the exact right bike for me. I just didnt know it yet. I traveled to every single other bike shop in Charlotte, and they were all nice and very helpful but 2 days later I returned to purchase at NC Velo. I went back thinking I would be doing some upgrades and spending more money. Kyle talked me out of that. His advice was right on the mark. Great customer service. No hassle. Surprise! Wow, didn’t know there was a shop in South Charlotte with a great selection of bikes, parts, and service team. You don’t have to go to Southpark or uptown to get a new bike, tune up, or advice from some real gear heads. Make sure you talk to Mirza. He’s the real deal. This is the best bike shop. The guys there are so super nice and the stock of bikes is wonderful. The shop has everything from kids balance bikes to pleasure bikes to those for super road warriors. I was greeted by Kyle when I walked in and talked through the number of bike options since I was new and just looking. I got to try out the bikes in the parking lot to find which one was right and they helped to get everything set up before I left with my new bike. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone that is interested in getting into bikes or looking for a new one!

When you come here to repair your bike - be ready 1 they didn’t call you when finished, just tell you : we send you email even if they don’t have your email address. 2 when you doing estimate they tell you: it’s gonna be under 100$ but it’s more then 100$.Two weeks repaired and disappointed

I am new to the cycling world. I was researching on a professional bike that I wanted. I really wanted a Specialized. I must say WOW!. I really hit it on the nail on the first try coming across NC Velo on the web.After talking on the phone with one of the owners, Jay. He made the experience of buying the bike more exciting because he was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful from the start of the process.I am originally from Columbia, SC. I swear driving up to NC was so worth it. Jay and Mirza were so friendly, had positive energy, approachable, and was interested in you as a person and wanted to make sure that I was getting the right bike. They were with me in every step of the process from getting sized and getting the essentials I needed for my new bike to start cycling.Mirza and Jay hands down made me have a very memorable experience of buying my first professional bike. This experience has made myself more excited and hyped up to start cycling. Overall, best customer service I have ever received. I would so highly recommend the NC Velo to anyone and definitely gained me as a customer for life. Thanks NC Velo! :D

At some point you have to decide if you’re going to be a retail bike shop with customer service or just a place for you and your race buddies to hang out. This place is obviously the latter. Arrogant staff that only cares to sell you a $3000 carbon fiber race frame. If you need your bike serviced, and it doesn’t weigh less than 6 ounces, go to Mojo cycles or anywhere else. They had three of my bikes for eight days, $320 worth of repairs, and I still had to return twice to get things fixed properly. Each time the service staff passed it on to someone else who cared even less until I suppose the owner fixed it himself.

They replaced the rear triangle but didnt replaced the rear shock which was requested and their labor charges is unclear and not in writting on their invoice. Their knowledge of bike is limited being that it was a Specializrd bike and they are a specialized dealer. I give them a negative 5 stars.

My fiancé and I came in on a Sunday to look at some mountain bikes. We both hadnt owned bikes for quite some time. Kyle was great in walking through the different options without selling us or any pressure. We ended up picking up two Specialized MTBs that we love. Will for sure be back for all our future accessories and tune-ups.

Make sure to ask about the return policy and restocking fee before purchasing anything. They dont provide a receipt that discloses information on their return policy and restocking fees. Their website lacks any information regarding their return policy.While we were choosing the bike, Kyle (owner) took great care in explaining how to choose the right bike/accessories, explaining everything one should know about owning a bike. However, the next day, upon our asking for a return, Kyle (prior to even examining the bike) claimed that we rode the bike and that there was a scratch (which we still cannot find, as we never even took the bike out of our car) on the bike and that the wheels were already showing signs of wear.He said they dont have a return policy; once you buy the bike you cant return it for full price. He said we would have to pay a 45% restocking fee. When we asked him why we were never told about the return policy/restocking fee, he responded by saying You never asked. It almost feels as though they purposefully kept information on their policy from customers.

I went there several times looking for a bike to give to my son (time for him to try the trails with me) and every single time they treated me like a family member. If you are new to the sport they will educate you, and if you are a veteran theyll share stories with you.

Very overpriced(any mechanic work), 35 bucks to bleed one break 30 bucks for one set of pads they charge quality car mechanic prices(1/4 hour for $25), lacking of communication, Most parts are over priced and work quality isn’t the best, but what can you expect from a non MTB area in an affluent area
