Amazing selection qualified staff very patient with newcomers thank you for the lessons. IF your looking for real wood.. You found the right place.
Very clean and very good people
Provisional staff and good service highly recommended.
I like this place. This is where I get my Lumber in Dallas. Prices are good, not greatSelection is good, not great. And I do wish I could look at the bins of lumber instead of just being presented with whatever someone else picked out. I know its a safty issue, but I can look at the bins at home depot.
Front desk representative are extremely helpful and kind so are the warehouse workers
Great service. Great products. And great prices. Worth the trip. Id suggest you call ahead and get your order in and paid for before your arrive. Then the wait might be shorter. This is a busy place with lots folks moving very fast. The lady that took care of our purchase was very friendly and personable. She loved my dogs.
Great service. Great communicationGreat wood at a fair price. This will be my go-to place.
Good staff, good selection. Yes, there are times they dont have certain things in stock simply because they deal in mostly raw wood and their supplier may not have sent them something. As for not being able to browse: I make furniture too, and when I dont like a piece theyve brought out Ive asked them if they have a different piece of material. Ill explain what I dont like and ask them if they can look for something more specific. Theyve always been very accommodating.
Delivery service for this business is worthless.
Great lumber prices and quality. Much better than big box at a fraction of the cost
As a new wood worker I had a bunch of questions and the staff had all the answers I was looking for. They helped me select a wood for a table top and set of benches. They also showed me examples of finished glue ups they had ready for customers to pick up. They do beautiful work and the fact that they will floo up the table top for me and sand it is a huge time savings. Very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Went to Central Hardwoods for the first time today.I knew before I got there that this is not a browse and think about it kind of place so I knew what I wanted when I walked in.The front desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable. When my turn came the gentleman with the Aussie accent talked to me and told me how the place worked and described the lumber.I placed my order for 90BF of 4/4 cherry and a piece of 1/4 cherry plywood.I took the pull ticket to the warehouse and when my turn came a forklift with a big stack of cherry boards showed up.The driver helped me pick through them and pick the ones I wanted. He also loaded them in the pickup.Same for the plywood, forklift brought a stack and I picked the piece I wanted. The lumber I had to choose from was all very good quality and the selection process was mostly just trying to pick the narrow boards that would fit my 6 jointer.I really liked the place and will purchase there again.
I called and placed an order for work, they had exactly what I was looking for, beat the Home Depot price by over $200, and delivered for free (since my order was over $300). So impressed. The front desk area has the best selection of Festool power tools and accessories I have seen anywhere in town. Very impressed with the price and service. There seems to be some confusion as to the ordering/selection process. Figure out what you want in board feet, go to counter and order it, they print a ticket and you go to the counter in the warehouse and give it to the person working in there. They give it to the crew of guys driving forklifts and one of them grabs several boards for you, if you dont like them they take them back and get more or the whole palate. I bought two 8/4 pieces of white oak and the guy brought two great pieces out and then cut them to my specifications. I usually go to Hardwood Lumber around the corner but Central is luring me away...
This store overcharged me twice in a month. Make sure that you read the receipt and understand how much you should be charged.
I received the BEST customer service and help from Veronica and Tracy! They had all the wood I was looking for at the cheapest price and great quality. They also had other exotic woods I didnt even know I would be interested in. Tracy was so kind and help me get exactly what I needed for my project. I would definitely recommend this business!
Great customer service! Good prices.
It is closed for purchases in the place, all activity has to be done by telephone.
Great place for hardwoods and specialty lumber at a reasonable price. I am a home woodworker that does not buy large volumes of lumber. I went in looking for Wenge and they had a good selection and the price was about half of what I bought in Houston (to be fair, the Houston shop was S4 and Central was rough 5/4, but I have the equipment needed to finish it). The only reason for not giving 5stars is the wait time was a bit long (well, it was over lunchtime) and you cant stroll around to look at other lumber or slabs they have (which I like to do to get ideas but in the end probably saved me money). That being said, I will be going back and it is a great place for the home woodworker or a professional cabinetmaker.
For the truck drivers delivering here, their business is exceptional. Easy in and out. Very fast unloading. Friendly folks who are helpful and accomadating. Looking forward to future loads here
Staff is really friendly and knowledgeable. They have the widest selection of lumber that I found anywhere in Dallas. If you need some rare would its worth the trip.
I highly recommend giving these folks a try. Im a woodworking hobbyist and by no means Central Hardwoods target customer and after reading the other reviews was cautious about visiting for the first time.I stopped in on a Friday afternoon and had better service here than at any of the other hardwood/woodworking shops in town. Tom Kerby took the time to explain all of their offerings, where they are sourced and all associated quality grades and prices etc. He then offered to give me the warehouse tour and proceeded to walk me down each aisle to get a better idea of their offerings and along the way explained their milling process, what to look for when buying rough stock and overall business model.Im not sure if I just got lucky that they were relatively slow that afternoon or I happened to get one of their more patient salesman, but I recommend you give them a try as my experience was much better than expected and not at all as described in the other reviews.
Very good service
This was my first time to a hardwood lumber yard after doing many projects with dimensional lumber purchased from big box stores. I see where Ryan Bridges was coming from, they do discourage you from perusing their warehouse at your leisure. While it may seem unconventional, when I approached the guy at the counter he asked what I was looking for and I explained I was just doing a small simple project and what I had in mind in terms of my order. He was helpful, offered suggestions, and clarified that when I selected the species I was interested in they would forklift an ENTIRE PALLET to the front so I could piece-wise select the boards I wanted. That is no more than you could safely do walking through the stacks themselves.I was pleased all the way around. Plus, they are not only open to the public, but open on Saturday morning, which is pretty much the only hours I have free to come by.
They advertise as a hardwood dealer, yet wont let people even look at the hardwoods before they purchase them. They direct you to a display of the woods we stock. If you build furniture you want to pick your own lumber so you get the character you are looking for. Very disappointed after driving so far only to turn around and head back to the shop empty handed.
Outstanding place to get quality woods. It is open to the public but is mainly a wholesale location so you will not be able to wander around at will. I have purchased woods from them several times over the past two years and have found the service to be knowledgable and friendly and the wood to be priced fairly and high quality.
These people are very courteous fast and they have awesome selection
Great place I was impressed in and out very fast thank you Veronica
Nicest staff, and an unbelievable supply of excellent quality hardwoods.
Great people, it is sometimes hard to know what I am paying until I get the bill, no other complaints
The site makes it sound like youre welcome to have a walk around and look at whats in this is not the case. Its a warehouse yes but when I asked if I could have a look around I was ignored twice and then told to go and ask someone to show me around because its a dangerous place!!!
Best place Ive found for sheet goods in Dallas.
Great service, quality work. Tom worked with us too find solutions within our budget.
I saw Ryan Bridges review from May(ish), and the owner (not very likely the owner, BTW) response. I had same experience there, and it was disappointing; good for him for leaving instead of caving, as so many people do nowadays. !!DONT REWARD INFERIOR GOODS AND SERVICES WITH YOUR BUSINESS!!Owner response was specious...its a lumber yard, of course it is not 100% safe. Driving is not 100% safe. For gods sake, more people die from hospital and doctor mistakes now than almost any other cause so getting treated by medical community isnt even safe. I highly doubt they areas concerned with our safety as much as they are separating people from their money as soon as possible and getting them out the door so they can move on to the next one.To the owner/employee that wrote the response: What exactly is so UNSAFE about your lumber yards that we cant be trusted to navigate it safely as if people arent out on the North Dallas highways all day and dont already understand how to take care of themselves? Are your employees operating the equipment unsafely? Are the stacks of lumber dangerously high or stack incorrectly? Are packs of wild monkey and rabid dogs running around? Are there slippery banana peels all over the place? Sheesh...If you want our business, your JOB is to provide US with the wood we want. If that means letting me go out to the lumber area, make me sign a liability waiver. If it means having people ready to accompany me, then do that. Provide or require eye, ear, and head protection if it makes you feel better. If I have to wait a few minutes because someone is out looking ahead of me and you want to escort me around, then fine, Ill wait; if I have to wait 30 minutes, than you havent staffed correctly and Im leaving...you get nothing. How is this so hard to get (I mean if you care about customer satisfaction)? To All: if you are looking for lumber, check out/Google other lumber suppliers in near vicinity and further north that sell to the public; they seem to have been able to solve the safety issue and provide direct access to their products in a safe environment without any issue. I pick my own lumber all the time at Hardwood Lumber and McKinney Hardwood.
They were friendly and knowledgeable.
Sometimes wrong with the lady in Receiving
I called to place an order and they finished the order almost two weeks late. I called on the due date to find they had not even started to work on my order. One week later I called again and they were rude about looking up my order status.I hope this is not a normal procedure for them. I will not be giving them any business in the future.
Fast, Friendly, product knowledge, A+
Great peopleGreat products

It is a very complete place ... for all good carpenters ... it has the three BBBs ... good ... nice ... and cheap ...
They take a long time.
