Phone service is terrible - they just don’t pick up. Price raises pretty much annually. Very musty in storage area. Don’t put in things that are not covered in some sort of plastic. Only positive is that the employees are nice in person and there’s a police station nearby (safety advantage).

Good storage, but on the pricey side. In other news, dont ever put your things in another persons storage unit. Never. Never ever do that. Because Central Self Storage, along with every other storage facility in America, will NOT give you access to your things. Ever. They will sell it before giving it back to you. Regardless of the circumstances. Never put YOUR things in another persons storage unit.Even if you have the key to the storage lock, which was given to you by the owner of the storage, they will NOT give access to the property, so you cant even get your things if you have the key. Without the code to access the property, your up a creek.So no matter how cool you are with someone, no matter how briefly it may be for, or how much sense it makes, NEVER put your things in another persons storage unit.This has been a public service announcement.

I have been with them for 8 months (storage unit 3123) and they already raised the rent. Look for another facilities, I am pretty sure you will find better deals and make sure you lock the rent price for at least a year!

Pricey, but very safe compared to other local storages, its inside a police station for goodness sake.

Avoid at all costs. We reserved a U-Haul rental 2 weeks in advance, but the store closed unannounced on the day of the rental and did not inform us of the closure. We were unable to pick up our reserved truck and customer service was apathetic.

Avoid.Not the best place to rent storage from. I highly recommend going local/to a small business.Somewhere you can get real customer service from, if that matters to you.I chose the Alameda, CA location because it’s indoor and offers easy-to-get-to units on the ground floor. It also seemed well secured, til the security roll-up door broke and they didn’t fix it for months! Mind you, it was not like someone drove into it - the door was poorly maintained and the mechanism that rolls it up no longer functioned correctly.Instead of having someone man the gate or setting up a temporary access code at the back, they left the back roll-up door wide open all day... so anyone can get right in. This of course also affect the access hours, tough to get in 10a-6p when you work 9a-5p. No security, no cameras, just wide open.For the months the door was broken I asked for a 10% discount, seeing as they’re not holding up their end of the bargain (basic facilities maintenance and security - which is what I’m paying for. Right?). Immediately denied.They also do not pro-rate the units. So once you pay, you’ve paid the whole month regardless of when you pull your stuff out. They’re not willing to work with you at all.I stored stuff here for exactly 1 year - and I will never use their services again.I genuinely hope they do better at customer care game, otherwise it will probably put them out of business. I’ve had far better experiences with Public Storage than I have here - despite PS being a very large business it’s clear that customers matter to them.With Central Self Storage I’ve encountered:- unaccommodating + rude staff(on phone and in person)- difficulty in reaching customer care(automated phone system leads you to VMs always - no humans without lots of stressful button mashing and luck)- broken facilities- increases in rates- a lack of accountability from the company at large

Clean facility. Theres a police department in the back of the building, so your stuff is probably safe. Unfortunately, your price goes up every year! Im now paying $40 more per MONTH, which is $480 more per year, than when I started 4 years ago! Sounds pretty greedy to me, and they give no explanation. This happens in the winter when youre less likely to move out. Other storage facilities in the area are cheaper. Parking is difficult - there are only three dedicated spots for loading/unloading. With the prices CONSTANTLY going up, I dont see a reason to choose this place.

The parking here is horrible! Its hard to find and there is definitely not enough space for loading or unloading. And I dont like having to put my code in everytime I use the elevator. Its kind of inconvenient. But I like the storage units.

Prices continue to increase. Theyve increased my rate four times in the past two years, roughly a 33% increase. So, you sign a contract for one price and they can change the price at any time. Limited office hours. Okay for short term storage.

Took 4 hours to call me back regarding a question, lady on the phone seemed to hate her job and was rude to me when I misremembered the location. Half a mind to not even rent from this place.

This place gets too expensive.
