My credit sucks and I expected spending a full day there waiting for them to find a bank that would finance me, and even worse, I’m self employed so I don’t have any pay stubs and thought that would make it harder. But instead they gave me the exact financing I got offered on the app, there was no issues. And I was there for a few hours but nobody even mentioned my credit. And I got the car I actually wanted! I found a short in the radio the following day, they looked at it and ordered the part no questions asked, This place is awesome!

There was a couple problems with the car that I had brought in that was corrected almost immediately. And my second choice was brought in again with no problems and quickly close the deal. Couldn’t have been more happy with the outcome with the car with the salesman with the whole process. If there’s another car in my future that I’ll be buying I will certainly look to Carmax.

BEWARE TO SELLERS- if you bring in your vehicle for an appraisal, expect your quote to be MUCH less when going in person to finalize. I had brought my car in around 2.5-3 weeks ago and was given a decent quote, worth selling. Fast forward to now (due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to work out getting a new car until now) and I was given a ridiculous quote which was under $2,000 LESS! I completely understand that there would be a small difference given the fact that the car is my daily driver to and from work but seriously?? $2,000 worth? I also understand that the market changes, and that can have an effect but I don’t believe whatsoever the market has changed that drastically within this short of a time frame. The fact that I was even given a quote as low as I received amazes me given that CarMax is overpricing their vehicles right now and has some of the highest prices in the market right now on used cars that I have seen, and I have looked almost everywhere within 50 miles! I’m sure that my car would have been listed well over $8,000 more than what they wanted to give me. Unbelievable. If you can, do your business elsewhere! They are getting greedy.

The original woman I worked with was new but very nice. However she was off the day I made the purchase. Everything had already been very hectic and the sales representative I ended up with (Jay?) was rude and condescending. I was already in a bind and frustrated then I had to deal with him talking down to me or making comments on what the previous representative didnt do correctly. So far Im satisfied with the car but not the experience.

Got an offer online for a Honda Ridgeline at 10k. A little low, pickups are in short supply,but okay.Spent an hour and a half for them to tell me they would offer 7,000. The online appraisal is just a scam to get you in the door.

We went in looking to buy a car, so we 24 hour test drove 2 different cars, which is nice we were able to try it. We ended up buying the second one and our salesperson was new guy named Art, and we were his first sale. I absolutely 100% recommend not only buying from CarMax, but I recommend him too! His customer service skills are top notch and one in a million. The temp tags werent on and we were there well past closing time, we didnt notice and drove our 35 minute drive home. Art delivered the tags personally to our house! Everything was great and such a smooth process! I loved it and love my new car! :)

Buying the car was a great experience. I have had the car for a month today and still do not have my registration. Twice now I have been told by the end of the week on two different weeks. The car I traded in still has not been paid off either. Slow process and when you want to refinance and the bank wants the registration, it takes for ever. I could have done it myself quicker.

Gave them 2 stars only because the lady that greeted us initially before we were forgotten about was very nice. Other than that, they were short staffed and wait times were a bit long. We felt forgotten about and not taken as serious as other potential buyers so we left without anyone caring or even noticing and took our business elsewhere. Their loss because that same day we purchased a vehicle somewhere else. It was the best decision we made! We are happier with our new vehicle and the experience with the competitor company. Im sure losing one customer wont matter to them but. Paying attention to all customers is important. You never let a customer walk out without acknowledging if theyd been helped. Just some advice.

I was treated 100% better by CarMax (Tyler) than I was at a Hyundai dealership earlier that week. CarMax also offered me almost $2k more for my trade in than the dealership did. My only complaint is that you have to use your debit pin for a down payment which the bank hassles you with which is the bank’s issue. Just bring cash if you can. I love my car!

While the customer service was great. The lack luster guidelines they have to abide by is what made my experience favor the poor side. I input my vehicle info online to get an appraisal, get my quote which I’m happy with, goto one of the Carmax locations and get it looked over. To find out something reduces my offer for something that is, and I quote, “no structural damage, but we consider it structural damage.” The idea of that is the same as calling an Apple a banana. It isn’t a banana but we call it one. Absolute nonsense.

I had a deal on the table and decided to look at carmax and the great customer service I received was the best. Lisa worked with my work schedule and she came in on her off day to close the deal. So thats what customer service is all about the customer.

Came to Carmax to find a new car after hitting a deer and totaling my car. Had an idea of price and wanted a car with as low as miles as possible. So looked at few cars on the lot and test drove one that day. I liked the one i drove but didnt give me the excited feeling I was hoping for so John my salesman help me by looking at cars on the computer and found a Honda Civic that I actually had seen when I was looking before I came out there and it was at the Columbus location. John let me know he could have them deliver it to that location for free for me to test drive which I thought was amazing to me able to do that. By time I left the first time out there he had the car on the way and within few days it was there for me to look at.I went out on test drive and fell in love with it! So that same day I purchased my 2016 Civic with only 44,000 miles and drove it home!! I dont have the best credit and was dealing with my loan on other car still and was able to be approved within 15-20min with only $500 down. This is by far the best car Ive had and love it everyday when I get in and drive it! I got the extended warranty and bit of advice ALWAYS get the gap insurance its totally worth it! Thank you Carmax for getting me back on the road so quickly and painlessly and I would recommend you guys to anyone!

Wasnt sure what to expect from CarMax. Talking with various people that work for CarMax during the process made me realize that its not just for the sale of vehicles. One of this easiest things Ive ever done. Do not trade your car in to a dealer when purchasing a new car. Make sure you get an offer from Carmax first. It was worth an additional $7,000 in my case.

The car selling experience was very efficient, made appointment, brought my car in, they looked it over, took some pictures and then within 15-20 minutes I had my offer in hand. Once I decided to follow thru it only took a few more minutes to sign and I was good to go. Way easier than I thought and the offer was a good deal considering I didn’t have to advertise, show my car to strangers, let them test drive, etc.

We had a fantastic experience from the gentleman that helped from the call center to the very last person that helped us. Our vehicle is perfect!

This year we bought a 2020 GMC Acadia and even through some road bumps with our bank they worked with us to make sure the purchase went smoothly. Overall experience wasn’t to bad, but I’m disappointed in they way they clean and inspect cars. Last two cars I’ve purchased were not cleaned at all. Running through a car was is not cleaning. Had to spend several hours cleaning the inside of the car as it was not cleaned in any way. Carmax brags about how they clean and inspect every car, that is total BS!

I cant get anyone to answer the phone there. I just spent 25 minutes on hold and then went in circle with the phone tree and still didnt get anyone. I requested a transfer for a truck and it was supposed to happen within 2 weeks. Over 2 weeks and no word. They got my money though!

Complete my order fast and they pay me better amount of money than carfax and carvana

I was able to sell my 2018 Toyota Camry at much more than the dealership allowed for a lease termination/trade in. I did run into a problem in that, even through Toyota Financial gave me 10 days from the lease end date, CarMax ran into some issues with the payout amount because I brought it in to sell two days after the lease end date. Eventually Pam (thank you Pam) figured it out and it ended well. It took awhile but in the end I walked away with a $5,500 check!

I have sold 2 questionable vehicles to Carmax, without purchasing from them. In both cases they offered and paid WAY more than the car was worth.I will sell CarMax my used vechicles all day, but Id never buy a car from them based on what they pay for cars with obvious mechanical issues

Visited to sell my vehicle after using the online quote tool. After arriving my vehicle was quickly inspected and I was offered the full value of the online quote. This quote was 4k more than the dealership offered and $500 more than carvana offered. We had to wait probably 30-40 minutes for the paperwork to be finished. But we left with the car sold for the very top end of the KBB trade in value at very good condition. The paperwork was very a smooth process and we had a check in hand as we left. I wouldnt hesitate to use carmax again. Our buying associate was really helpful, friendly, and kind. Some of the other employees seemed to be a little less friendly, but it was 3pm on a Friday, Id probably be tired of dealing with people by then too.

When I think of CarMax in Dayton, Ohio I think of dishonest, lying, sleaze.A couple weeks ago I won a 2020 Jeep in a raffle. I didn’t need the vehicle, so I decided to look for the quickest way to sell it.I called the dealer who provided the car and they offered $15,000. Not knowing if that was a good offer or not, I called CarMax in Dayton. The woman I talked to was not familiar with their procedures, so she had me talk to Ray in the Buyers Department. He was their “so-called” expert. Only later did I learn he was an expert at BS.I said I knew he couldn’t give me a final number without looking at the vehicle but after I provided the VIN I asked what he thought it would bring. I needed to know if it was worth driving 200 miles to this dealer.Ray said the car should bring me $20,000 to $21,000 but it would definitely not be lower than $19,000. The key phrase he said … “Definitely not lower than $19,000.”I drove 3 hours in the rain to CarMax. They looked over the Jeep and offered me $16,000. When I asked where is Ray, they said he was off. I insisted that a Manager call Ray. Dan, the manager came over and said he talked to Ray and he only provided a ballpark number. I pointed out the “definitely not lower than $19,000” part and basically Dan didn’t care. Dan, like Ray excels at sleaze.So I was screwed. I didn’t want to drive 200 miles back to the original dealer so I sold the car to a sleazy used car dealer named CarMax.First I would recommend that you do not patronize this location. But, if you must visit be sure to RUN away if you are approached by Ray or Dan. Either one will flat out lie to you to make a deal.Ray … if you read this I can only call you the most despicable thing I can think of … you’re a perfect used car salesman.

We purchased a vehicle for my birthday from a carmax and it needed to be shipped to us. We were told once the vehicle was inspected we would be able to pick it up. After four days we noticed there were paint spots on the back of the cab of the truck so we took it back to get corrected. The next day we did not receive a phone so we called them. We were told that the truck had been repainted and that a lot of the body of the truck was replaced with bondo. They gave us the option to return the truck and get a new one or refund or keep it and deal with it cracking and breaking later. We returned the truck and got another one. 21 days later we returned to pick it up....after it’s thorough inspection. On the way home we noticed a crack/hole in the windshield, which they were going to get fixed. After 6 days we still haven’t heard anything about it getting fixed. Also, the remote start quit working and the alarm randomly went off. We decided to return this truck and get a refund. We were told that we could get our down payment refunded in a check that we would get in 15 days or refunded to our card. The majority of the down payment was in one card and the additional down payment for the second truck was in a different car. Since the funds were transferred from one truck to the other the original card used was no longer in use for their system to put the refund on. Now we wait for a check. After this ordeal we called the bank in which we got the loan and was told that they only show the loan for the first truck and that payment is due next week....for a truck we do not have. And...the payment for the second truck is due at the end of May. Again, for a truck we do not have. Carmax has not paid of the original loan from the returned truck so this is still an open loan that needs paid by us or it will reflect on his credit. Some of the employees were wonderful to work with but the overall experience was awful. We will never put ourselves through that ordeal with them again and will be taking our business else where.

Love the car (VW), grateful they were able to help me get financed BUT not even a month into owning it, I took it to a VW dealership for a precautionary oil change only to learn it was past due, past due for a brake fluid flush, past due service on the AWD, needing brake pads, spark plugs and also an alignment. Some 125pt inspection.

Overall I would recommend CarMax and I would use them again in the future. The only con is if you need to pay off a loan, you can only get the payoff amount during bank business hours. That wasnt explained so we ended up having to go back the next morning. We could have had that call made while we were there the first time, but we werent given that heads up before we left to retrieve documents we left behind. The whole process to sell our car took about 2 hours.

This is my second experience selling a vehicle to CarMax and both times it was excellent. The process is efficient and effective - streamlined from start to finish. The offers on both vehicles were more than fair and took stress off my plate during a time that can sometimes be a little stressful as you’re figuring out your transportation situation. Very thankful for this group and I have and will continue to recommend!

Was recommended this specific CarMax by a friend and really glad I came. We were selling my moms car and from the minute we came in, they were very quick, professional, and friendly. We had our appraisal in less than 10 minutes and then they walked us through each detail of the appraisal to show the rationale behind the sale price. Also this is during the pandemic, so social distancing was followed and masks were worn by staff throughout. My mom and I were treated professionally from the moment we walked in the door. Worst place to get a car. Had them ship a van from a different state, 4 days after it had arrived when I went for my apt, it was the wrong van then to top it off the sales lady who said she was going to meet us there to do the paperwork did not even show up. They were very nice mostly because they screwed up.
