The team at Flooring by Design were exemplary! Lets start with the installers who did all the heavy lifting and fit & finish work for our 6000 square foot Church sanctuary. Fernando and Robert did a great job! Major kudos to Fernando and Robert on this complex installation around professional sound boards, floor vents, stairs, ramps, stadium seating, trap doors and curved surfaces throughout our sanctuary. And last but not least Kaylan, and Heath who were fabulous to work with as we made decisions on all the particulars of carpet type, color selection, warranties and pricing. Everyone was patient, informed and wonderfully professional in all of our deliberations. Everyone involved was an absolute pleasure to work with in partnership with us in accomplishing the refreshing of our church. We needed new tile in our bathroom due to a leak. Picking out new tile and planning for a project like this can be overwhelming. Malcolm was my sales person, Marvin was the installer. Malcolm was very patient and always willing to share ideas when I was stuck on choices. Marvin is one of the hardest workers I have ever seen! He clearly enjoys his work and did a meticulous job. I just had Flooring By Design put luxury vinyl plank flooring in the whole first floor of my house and I couldnt be happier!! Their costs were very similar but maybe a little less than another company from whom I got a quote. The installers were fantastic! It took them 2 full days to complete the job and were very friendly and courteous, and they willingly took care of a couple small issues noticed during install. I wouldnt hesitate to go back to FbD again for future flooring needs.

Hired company to remove carpet and put in wood floors to match and be woven in with existing hardwood. Color was totally off after their sample had faded and they promised to rectify color. Representative Kaylan Oakley lied to us saying the floors would be fixed with color but instead this is the job they left us with. Color isnt remotely matching nor weaved in as specified. A bunch of excuses and terrible results. I think it actually makes my home look worse. Dont trust them to match your floors or keep their word.

I wish I could leave zero stars. My brother and I own a small family oriented contracting company here in the triangle. We have installed flooring for countless customers, including vinyl sheet, among many others. Today when trying to install new vinyl sheet in a customers home the product we purchased from Flooring By Design was so cheap and flimsy that it would tear from simply being manipulated when we were unpacking it. As the project went on it became incredibly clear that the product was significantly inferior. The vinyl sheet flooring we removed was literally five times stronger and was at least 20 years old. You should not be able to rip vinyl flooring with your bare hands! Of course when the customer attempted to return this product the owner threw a fit and blamed us. If anyone is interested I have the names and contact information for countless people who will tell you that my brother and I have satisfactorily installed flooring with ease. What happened here is absolutely a case of pathetic customer service and cheap flimsy products.

The team really under promised and overdelivered!! We moved and had the floors done in the middle of the Holidays. Kaylan was great to work with and has a keen eye for design, and we love the end result. It didnt happen without a few bumps, but great communications, customer service and desire to rectify any issues makes this a five star review and we recommend them highly.

We hired Flooring by Design to install hardwoods (and match them by getting them the color the builder originally used) in our master bedroom and guest suite. When the color didnt match after they finished I was reprimanded by the owner Chris in the beginning by him saying “that’s why we don’t like clients going out of town” when I informed him the color didn’t match. He informed me his sales agent came out and confirmed it looked good, but the colors were completely opposite. The own Chris eventually came out to look at the flooring because I insisted it did not match and after seeing the flooring he admitted they made a mistake and put in the wrong kind of hardwood so the stain came out wrong. The company had to come back in rip all the flooring up and do the entire process again. This meant days and days of loud work, sanding and men in and out of my home.In addition I had 2 rugs that were supposed to be cleaned by flooring by design. The company delivered WET rugs to my house after me asking for them back several times, then took the one back (to reclean it because of the wet smell), let it go through a flood in their warehouse and then I was told the rug didn’t have any hope because of the previous stains. Instead the company should have been more apologetic instead of saying my rug was the issue. I understood it had stains but the way it was handled was so inappropriate.I was pregnant during all of this so not only for one week (which was expected) but for 2 weeks (due to their mistake of choosing the wrong hardwood) I had to sleep on a mattress on a floor in our basement. The noise and men coming in and out of my house for double the time was unbearable. I was trying to work from home and the extra days they were here with the noise made that impossible.I had painters scheduled to finish up walls right after flooring because I knew there would be dings from flooring people so we paid for that and then the floors had to be redone so all that was for nothing. Flooring by Design flooring employees tried to assist with all the marks and scratches they did on the walls and doorways by painting them with the paint I provided, but it still doesnt look the same because it is the type of paint that needs to be rolled not painted with a paint brush.I think the worst part for me with Flooring By Design was feeling like it was my fault and being treated that way in the beginning until the head guy gave in and came out to see the hardwoods for himself because he didn’t believe me when I said the colors did not match at all. Right before I paid the final bill to the company, the sales associate informed me they would be sending me something to make up for all the inconvenience and its been over a month and half and nothing has been received. My guess was I was told this to get me to go ahead and pay without giving some sort of credit for all the issues. This was not a great experience.

Thanks to Dave at FBD! He came out to replace some carpet in a bedroom and walk in closet as well as finish up another wood floor trim in our bonus room. Got the quote and install within a weeks time period! Great price and quality work! Very happy with the completed job!

We recently used Flooring by Design to install carpet in our dining room. I got a few quotes and Flooring by Design ways by far the most affordable. Kaylan was really great to work with and went out of her way to help us find the right carpet. The installation was quick and it looks great! Some of the quarter round molding was damaged on installation, but some of it was damaged already so I dont think it was their fault. We are very happy with our experience and would use them again!

Flooring by Design did an amazing job helping us to pick out tile and flooring for our new house. We just purchased a new home in Cary with a damaged wood floor in the kitchen. Flooring by Design replaced the kitchen floor and an area extending to the garage entrance / laundry room (and inside the laundry) with new porcelain tile. It required removal of the old wood and tile floors that were glued to the concrete slab. Once the work started there was no break, and everything was done within six working days. The workmanship was wonderful, from he demolition to the finishing touches. Shout out to Kaylan who coordinated and made sure all was done correctly (she was constantly in touch with me as the job progressed) and to Marvin - the man worked so hard, arrived early and stayed late, and took only a few little breaks during the day, and worked in a professional, skilled and upbeat manner. I will say this. The staff I met at Flooring by Design were extremely polite and punctual and friendly. Five stars to them for their customer service. However, the quote we received to have the shower pan and tile replaced in our stand up shower was ridiculously high. We were not looking for any fancy or expensive tile. Just basic white. They quoted us at about twice the cost of other quotes we received. I cannot speak to their work on other types of projects but if you are looking to have your shower repaired as we were, I would highly encourage you to seek a second opinion before going with them.

We are very pleased with the service we received. The workers did an excellent job repairing a damaged area on our wood floors.

Would not recommend. We had problems with bubbling, the shoe molding, gapping, thresholds/transitions – pretty much the whole thing. They sent someone out the next day, who sort of fixed some of it, but still left us with concerns. About a week later, I received a voicemail to collect the final bill, so I called back and left a voicemail stating I also wanted to settle everything, but wanted to discuss some of the other issues. I told him that we were headed out of town, and let him know when we’d return. Fast forward over a month, a day before we’re moving, I get a call to schedule one of the managers to come out. They show up, tell me they’ll send someone to glue down the 4 pieces that are gapping, and they’ll send the bill over. As they’re walking out, I asked if I could discuss some of the other grievances, and after I did, he tells me thanks for the feedback, he’ll pass that along. So, in the end, I’m paying for items that I either corrected myself, or are just unresolved. Hope you have better luck that we did!
