Honest, upfront, and professional auto shop! I needed an MD inspection ASAP and didn’t realize how difficult it was until after I called several other auto shops. All stating they had availability the next week! I called Carriage House Automotive. I don’t live in the area, but I was visiting family. I usually do most of my own work but because I wasn’t home I didn’t have any tools with my. My car ( Mercedes e350 ) started shifting hard and and then went in to limp mode, from the behavior of the car I thought it could be a problem with a part the transmission. I called Carriage House Automotive be of all the reviews, just to see what the might say to me. You can a lot from a conversation, and in this case they were great. They are very knowledgeable and listened to my explanation and amateur diagnosis. And agreed that my diagnosis could be very likely as it’s a common problem.Moreover, they made appointment room for me. I was calling last minute at the start of the week and fit me in. They’re very accommodating. They the did the repair quickly and at a reasonable price. And found another issue I’ll probably have to address.Good, friendly service.

So…. To make a long story short, I got stranded in MD while headed home from the outer banks. My water pump and thermostat died first then my starter. It was a series of unfortunate events. After taking it to 4 shops and having none of them willing to work on my X5 I finally stumbled upon these guys. Not only did they present me with a fair price but also a one day turn around. Mechanic was experienced and was able to figure out what needed to be repaired to make the vehicle ready for an emissions test. More importantly, Carriage House explained in detail the “how and why” of each item needing to be replaced. There was no “up selling” making this an honest deal.

After buying tires at a national tire chain, the chain had recommended new rear brakes. l was suspcious that they still had usable life left and ask Carraige House to inspect. They did, and felt that l had about 5000 miles left. At 3000 miles later, l asked Carraige House if l should replace now, they inspected again and said l was good to go another 2000 miles until my next oil change.I own a low volume foreign car with the nearest dealer far away. Carraige House has provided me with convenient service at prices less than the dealership. I will continue to use them.

Mark and Carriage House Automotive have been our mechanic since we moved to Frederick almost 9 years ago. Its a casual shop that does professional work kindly and politely. I was always one to change oil and rotate tires myself, but they make it easy to schedule and the prices are very reasonable. Plus, theres a fine selection of coffee and sci-fi books in the customer lounge! I expect that well be doing business with them for a long time.

Lacking communication. Make sure you are completely clear before you drop your car off. Long story short, CH put 3 hours worth of service into our car and replaced a battery without contacting us first ($300). Our car isn’t worth $600. There was no talk of a replacing a battery. We wanted a diagnostic for our failed emission test. When contacted after the fact, my husband told Carriage House we didn’t want the new battery since our old battery was under warranty and he told CH to stop working on our car since the bill was already up to $300. They ended up taking money off our bill since we didn’t accept the new battery but we ended up paying man hours. When we got to Carriage House to replace the battery ourselves our old battery was unnecessarily clapped an reinstalled into our car, which we thought was a bit spiteful given CH knew the battery was dead.Update after Carriage House response: 1. No we didn’t expect free service. I never said we did, and over $300 is what you originally charged us. I stated in my initial review that you ended up only charging the man hours which brought the cost down. 2. So, it is all on your customers to read the side of your building at 8:00 pm at night when dropping their car off, instead of YOU practicing good customer with a simple phone call to update the customer? 3. The battery was in working order when we dropped it off at your shop, not perfect but working. We drove it to your shop. 4. Your response to my review should be proof enough to future customers that your mode of operation is less than professional. 5. You clamped the hell out of the battery knowing full well my husband would be removing it as soon as we brought the new one back from Autozone. Any way you spin it, your establishment lacks professionalism and communication. What about my review isn’t “factual”? Is it the fact that I left out the detail regarding how rude you were to my husband when he asked you to remove the new battery? I did leave that detail out of my initial review. Would you pay for a new battery when you could put a free one in yourself? All of this could have been avoided with a simple phone call to update my husband.

I had a 60K mile tune-up done. Plugs, Trans flush and injector cleaning. Work was completed on time and the final cost was actually less than my quote. I highly recommend them. Ask for Mark when you call.

Amazing expieriance both times I went here. First time was to have my car inspected and they fixed it up without adding a bunch of crazy unnecessary stuff most places do. I had to have Carriage House Automotive replace the starter on my BMW this week when the car decided not to start. While that was being done I also had the brakes repaired since they had been making noise for a few weeks. Since the Wegmens Supermarket is just a short walk away I decided to have lunch and wait a while there while they were working on the car. I have bringing my car to Carriage House Auto for car repairs since I moved to Frederick 10 years ago and have never been disappointed. We have an old Subaru wagon and Carriage House has kept it going year after year for us because we love the car. I trust them to give us an honest price on repairs and regular maintenance and not sell us something we dont need. Once we had the check engine light come on over and over--it was perplexing for us and for them. They eventually solved the problem (it was a rare problem) by consulting with others in the field, and that willingness to keep looking for a solution is one reason I will continue to have them service the car.

Carriage house has been working on my 2008 Honda Civic since the day I purchased it in May of 2017. Their services have been exceptional. I bring my car here to have it serviced when I need large repairs, such as wheel bearings, brakes, etc. I brought my car in for the 3rd time, this time around I had a bad wheel bearing & needed rear brakes. I dropped it off on Thursday afternoon, and by Friday morning they called and said they had it on the lift, knew what was wrong, and would fix it... barely an hour later he called and said it was ready!! I was expecting a couple days wait time, and I was so grateful for such fast service. They are always honest with me about what needs done to my car. As a woman, sometimes visiting garages can be scary, because I’m not a mechanic, so I don’t know exactly when someone’s telling me the truth about what needs done to my vehicle. I can honestly say the carriage house has never tried to push me to have something done to my car, in order for them to make money. They’re always direct with me.. overall I will continue to bring my vehicles to them!

A friend from work recommended Carriage House to me and commented that they were honest, fair and overall good people. I recently visited them for a safety inspection and found it to be a relaxing experience.Now that may sound silly but as a women, going into a car repair situation can be daunting. I do know a bit about cars but have had some very negative experiences with some garages who tell you that you need this or that just to make some money. I didnt get that feeling at all from Carriage House.In fact for my safety inspection I had one leaking hose that needed repair but everything else was small items...wiper blade replacement, brake pedal replacement, license plate bulb...little annoying but necessary things. Carriage house just charged me for the parts and not labor on those small things, which I greatly appreciated.Furthermore a week later when I visited my local Jiffy Lube on 40 in Frederick, I was told I needed some work done to my car which would have cost me probably a couple hundred. Since I had just had my safety inspection, I brought it back to Carriage House only to learn that I DID NOT need the work Jiffy Lube suggested. No surprise there as this is the sort of thing that I think many women experience with some car repair businesses.I am giving Carriage House five stars. Their waiting room is clean, plus they have coffee, tea, hot cocoa and hot cider for their customers. There was never a long wait to make an appointment and they complete the work efficiently and without excessive wait time. Additionally I feel like they are honest and reasonable. That is huge to me in the car repair business and these guys definitely make me feel at ease when I need to fix my car.And lets face it, you cant put a price on peace of mind in knowing you arent being taken advantage of in unnecessary car repair costs.

I took my BMW 535i to a dealership for a routine service and three weeks after the service a hydraulic oil loss warning light started showing on the dashboard so l took it back to the dealership and per their diagnostic test l was told that l needed the stabilizer bar and sensor replaced at a cost of $3600.00. Fortunately with my friends advise l took my car to CHA where they did a diagnostic and told me that l just needed a sensor and reservoir replacement at cost of $455. I went to them with a tail light problem on a Jaguar. They spent a fair amount of time checking it out, decided that I really needed to take to a Jaguar dealer. Even replaced a couple of bulbs in an attempt to fix. Despite all that they didnt charge me anything and apologized for taking my time! My car shop forever!

In that time Ive also: taken vehicles to 5 different dealerships, 7 other independent shops, 4 tractor repair shops, and 4 auto body shops.Carriage House is the only shop in 20 years (with whom Ive had more than occasional engagement) that has never dissembled, attempted to B.S. when they didnt know something, to intermediate when I didnt know something, or to rationalize a mistake.They are approximately the most technical, but I did a transmission elsewhere and 1 or 2 of the dealerships are also very high end. They are rarely the cheapest, but the price is never bad, and often significantly less than the most expensive (i.e., usually the dealership).They are likely the best within an hours drive.

We found Carriage House when we did a google search for places to get our Subaru serviced after another shop screwed it up. We made an appointment to get the car checked out, and we dropped the car off. It cost to have the problems worked through but they were able to fix them with no real trouble. The other place we had the car had wired a sensor incorrectly and installed the brake pads in the front wrong. A pad was actually backward! They were super honest, and totally up front about everything they needed to do. The manager, Mark, was awesome to talk to whenever we called to see what was going on with our car.This is now the place for our cars to get worked on here in Frederick. Theyre super trustworthy and qualified.

Didnt even get to the shop and had a bad experience. Called the place for a quote and was told he would call me back in the afternoon....no problem. Didnt hear anything so called back before closing and he proceeded to say he gets 20 calls a day and would get back to me. Still heard nothing. Called the next day for the quote...same guy. He tells me the labor cost so I ask if they have any room to fit me in that day he said he can squeeze me in. I said thanks I would call back and I appreciate his help and he hangs up on me. Sorry but if you have issues before even getting to a place and make it seem as if I am nagging you then I will take my business to someone that wants the business. You guys should hire someone else to do the phones because whoever that guy is doesnt seem very customer friendly at all.
