Ive been coming to Mi Apá for over three years now. And for some reason, the past two-three months Ive only gotten worse and worse food. The sandwiches especially have gotten smaller and have less meat. I ordered a Cuban sandwich just today and waited in the drive-thru for twenty minutes, which normally is worth it for the food. But the sandwich today ONLY had roast pork in it. This is the third time in the past month that an experience like this has happened, and it is just not worth the rising prices and waits.
From the highway, I saw the billboards and my impression was that this was a restaurant. When I get there, it’s more of a fast food joint. Staff was ultra friendly and not too clean. Went to rest room to wash my hands, I knocked and opened door, got startled when lady came out and stayed, lock must not work. Trash was over flowing.However, staff was friendly and the food was not authentic Cuban food, more like frozen food heated for resale. The staff were not Cuban, more from South America. Overall, if you looking for a quick, fast food style spanish food, it will do but not the best.
Always have a great time here! Food is always good and extremely on time. Aalyiah was great and made sure everything was good by checking up from time to time and that I was comfortable and satisfied. I would recommend it!
Paco our server was so great at getting our food fast. He was quick to refill our drinks. Ill definitely be back and want Paco as my server again.

Fantastic Cuban sandwich. Im very picky about how this particular sandwich should be made. Many places use sliced deli style pork loaf and for my thats just no good. Mi Apá uses actual roast pork the way it should be done. An excellent Cuban sandwich.I also had the beef and vegetable stew. Very good.My wife had a sandwich, I forget the name, that used arepas for the bread, and had ropa vieja beef, plantains, and cheese in it. Brilliant creation.I wish we had a Mi Apá near us, but well be back the next time were in town.
The food is usually great here, Im sure it will also be tonight. But as I sat at a table for 10 minutes and watched 9 employees just talking at the front counter and nobody came to take my order I got a bit agitated. I ordered my food to go instead. By the way I speak perfect Spanish so beware of what you say next time. Luckily for you I decided not to put you in your place busboy. I only look white.
Definitely worth it. The service was on point and the food was great. Francisco Ramirez made the experience rewarding. Definitely will come back!!!
I’m visiting my brother from south FL and was craving some Latin food… this place is PERFECT! Food is sooo good and tasted exactly the way I expected. Plus the passion fruit juice was fantastic. Price and service are good too. I’d add pics but I didn’t stop to take them before digging in!!
My first time here. Food is wonderful! Our waitress, Claudia, was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu. A lovely young woman. The restaurant was clean and the patio had a lovely breeze.

I have heard such great things about this place in the past, and really wanted to love it, but I hated everything about my experience here today. I waited in their drive-thru for over 20 mins before I could even order, 10 mins after ordering, and then another 10 mins inside because I had lost so much gas at this point waiting. I was so excited to try their coffee, but the coffee machine was down.So I ordered two empanadas and a rice bowl - they were out of one of the empanadas I ordered (and paid for) and then gave me another kind that I just took so I could get out of there. Then I get home and realize they gave me the wrong protein in my bowl. I also specifically asked if the bowl had plantains in it because I do not enjoy them, and the girl said no, it should be vegetables, but lo and behold, theres plantains on it. I called to get a refund because I was over the whole experience, and they pretty much told me that what I got is what I paid for and that the bowl comes with plantains by default. So I told them I would not be coming back and goodbye. Im not sure whats going on with this place, but they need to get their act together before people stop coming back. Waste of time and put me in a sour mood.

Daniela was the server for my friends and I, and she is really good at getting us to get more food. Man I haven’t felt this full in a while and I don’t think a workout will help relieve this weight gain. Would definitely come back again 20/10
Such a great place! The food is always excellent and they give you plenty of it. Great value. Get a Cuban coffee while you are there, especially if you need to stay up late studying.

Its about time! Newberry needs a bit of variety! Miss all the flavors of S. Florida and this is a very nice option over pizza, brisket and sushi!Stopped by on Saturday and had some Cuban coffee and pastelitos.....tasted great.....Maria did an excellent providing service while training a new hire.Really friendly and efficient and glad they opened close to me!

Awesome place to grab an authentic Latin breakfast. The food is really great and fast. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The fresh fruit juices are a most to accompany any meal! Will definitely visit again when in town!

It was crazy busy and backed up but we still got amazing service regardless of them being short staffed!Mi Apa had about 30+ people waiting to put their orders in, including my family & I (who were sitting outside for table service) and Ariana took our orders for food, drinks, followed up & everything else above and beyond. At the end of our dinner, we complimented Ariana on the level of service she delivered on a such busy night, after a busy game day, and given that they were short staffed, she smiled in relief and mentioned it was her first day at her first job ever. We recognized her service to her manager on duty as well.Great food, great people, great service & best of all, greatest coffee in Gville!
Today they messed up my order twice felt kind of awkward standing there and trying to ask for a refund after the manager on the phone told me they were going to refund it probably the only reason I drove all the way back over there. Very unfortunate as I have been a long-time customer of this place maybe they’ve just gotten too busy to put out quality products and be accountable for their own mistakes
I went into Mi Apá yesterday because I was missing my hometown Miami and wanted to have something good to eat. When I walked in I was instantly greeted and welcomed by the lovely Isabel who made sure I got to a table quickly. I wasn’t sure what to order so I asked her what she recommended and I instantly fell in love with the food because of her suggestion: vaca frita. I never felt rushed by Isabel and she would always make sure that I had enough water in my cup. The food was amazing at Mi Apá, but i would definitely go back for the service!! I highly recommend this establishment because of the team!
I’ve been eating here for years. I live very close and love the food, it reminds me of my grandma’s. However, lately they’ve been having some issues with the pick up orders, where things are missing. For example I ordered a steak and egg bowl and it didn’t have the steak. This make the whole experience less enjoyable.
Everything about this restaurant is incredible! The cafe con leche is so so delicious. Actually, anything on the menu is delicious. The entire staff are extremely warm and friendly. Camilo was our waiter and his service was efficient, while his attitude was so kind and pleasant. We loved it so much that we went back the following day for lunch again. Any time youre in Gainesville, this is the BEST restaurant in town.
Update: Cuban toast was added to the menu. Thank youAttempted to order delivery from 2 different companies on the their website. One I was unable to order coffee the other I was unable to order Cuban toast. I called the store and the kind person asked the manager about adding items to my delivery order. The response was that they could not add to my order and that they had no control over the menu options from the delivery companies? Good food. Too bad.
Always a great experience at Mi Apa, fantastic food, reasonable price, and the icing on the cake is the new waiter Daniel. Impeccable Spanish and service with a smile behind that mask. I can’t wait to go back!

I went there three times and ordered the chicken and rice with sweet plantains and black beans with a shredded beef empanada. First time was fantastic with minimal wait and good quality. Second time was good not as good as previous, but still great. This last time was a long wait for cold food! Barely any chicken and black beans were not good. I asked a waitor to check my food and he never came back. They were rude and strange. Thanks lol.
Food was very good, however, it is eclipsed by the cooking of the person that has raved about this place for years. Still nice to see where the inspiration came from.
If you’re looking for hot fresh pastries with a cup of delicious cuban coffee or fresh fruit juices then definitely visit Mi Apa. I’ve tried their sandwiches and entrees but their drinks and sweets are far better than their entrees.
Fantastic food! I came in today to get lunch to go. Amanda was incredibly helpful recommending things on the menu. She said she was new but she was extremely knowledgeable. I will definitely be back soon!

Expect great service from a cheerful staff. Excellent Cuban coffee, and a good selection of pastries. Very tasty authentic Cuban and Latin specialty dishes served fast! Cant miss with this choice for coffee and something good to eat.

I love Mi Apa! We have been going there for years, and the staff is always so nice. We always have a great experience. The food has always been delicious, but they recently updated their menu and it’s even better! This is a very well-managed restaurant for sure. Consistently wonderful!
Mi apa is tasty. They seem a little slack on the staff keeping masks over their noses. I asked the gentleman helping me about that and he said it wasnt a big deal that Covid will be over in a month. That was 2 months ago.
Saturday my family attended a birthday party for a dear friend that turned 86 years young. And her request for the meal was Mi Apa. She wanted their AMAZING cubans and I had to add black beans and yellow rice and of course the plantains. EVERYTHING was perfect! The food was amazing and the BEST part for me was seeing her enjoy her day. Thank you to the staff, who also ROCKED the entire process from ordering to me picking up! Thank you so much!
Had a great experience at Mi Apá. I went to the new location in Jonesville my waitress was Daniela the service and food was just excellent. Great start for this new location.

I came in for a doordash order it was ready and neither of the two women on the counter had either common sense or decency to let me know. Maybe they didnt understand english.
Mario, did a delivery to one of our corporate luncheon and he was on time, and he even stayed and set up everything for us. I had worked with him in the past and i cant be more proud that he became a Manager at Mi Apa. This is just the beginning on this amazing journey to him.. great customer service and guest experience.
This place has been declining for years. They only keep growing because of their marketing and because of no real competition. The food is very subpar, if you have ever been to a truly authentic cuban restaurant, this place will leave you very disappointed. I really hope an authentic cuban restaurant opens in Gainesville so these guys deliver a better product.
Phillipe is a wonderful knowledgable server. Came in for breakfast on the way out of town. Will be back for lunch and dinner the next time I am in town. Food smells wonderful. Tasted great.

I am from Orlando and I went with my wife and eat at this place that advertising as authentic Cuban cuisine. I ordered their Chicken Fricase or Chicken Stew and my wife ordered Palomilla Beef and both with Moro Rice and salad and boiled yucca. When my chicken got served I did not knew what I was looking at. Being Puertorrican, I know what chicken fricase is, and surely that thing of a leg with thigh was not even close. The flavor was just like it was boiled in some sort of pepper sauce which was horrible and the rice did not had the texture and flavor of real Moro rice and more like rice mixed with some obscure black beans thing, it had no latin flavor at all. My wifes beef tasted like rubber shoes, the Palomilla is supposed to be pan fried with beautiful and tasty saute onions served on top, instead she got some pale beef with barely some.flavor and more like a rubber shoe. There was NOT salad dressing given. The boiled yucca was bland because it was boiled without salt. The mojito was something created with orange water, meaning, tasted just like watered orange, didnt had the vinegar/oil mix. Plainly horrible. I really cant even begin to comprehend how this place has any good reviews at all. I explained all this to the waitress from Mexico and I told her that this food was as authentically cuban as Taco Bell is authentic Mexican. And I still got charge for the nasty plate!! I really want to stress and underline how horrible the food was! If anyone, any reader wants to taste real and true Cuban cuisine, stop by in ZaZa Cuban Cuisine in Orlando or the oldest cuban restaurant in Tampa called La Teresita and then you will eat the best Cuban food ever, but stay away from this horrible mess. Is not worth a damn cent for their food.By the way....I must add.....it is obvious that the management respond well to feedback that are favorable...but will not address any feedback that is negative...even when they know is true.....

I went to Miapa and I was amazed with the food. It was delicious. Congratulations for all team 👏👏👏👏, I wanted in particular thank you Aaron, he was very patient and dedicated. He was great. He worked hard to make all the clients happy!
Delicious authentic food. Great service. Friendly faces. And terrific management. Inside and outside seating and of course take out. The aromas emanating from the dishes cant be beat.
My office is right around the corner from Mi Apa and I usually get take out for lunch once or twice a week. The food is always very fast and tasty. However, I have had some issues recently with the customer service. I called to place my order and Gabby answered the phone. She acted as if I was annoying her just by giving her my order. She was incredibly rude on the phone. When I arrived to pick up my food there was one person working the counter. She was incredibly rude and acted annoyed that I even asked for my order. She just held her hand out for my credit card. She didn’t even tell me my total. I recognized the worker from previous visits and she had been rude and unhelpful then as well. I noticed the employee was not wearing a name tag so I asked her name and she said it was Gabby, the same person who was rude on the phone. If this is the way Mi Apa allows its employees to treat customers, I think my staff and I will find a new lunch spot.

Awesome Cuban food with large portions and two sides that I can never finish for under $10. Fast service and a drive-through too, but its way better than drive-through quality.

Spent 25 minutes today at a table waiting for a server to grab my order. She even came out and got some other peoples order that arrived way after me. Never comming back. Worst service in Gainesville.I would have appreciated at least her comming and telling me that she would be back to get my order but not even that. I had a 1 hour break from work and decided to come here to eat worst mistake ever wasted 25 min just to never get attended.Fyi the place was empty there are no excuses. Also saw several servers just chatting inside with each other while I was waiting on someone to just take my order for almost half an hour. After 25 min of waiting I just left and grabbed lunch somewhere else. This is ridiculous.

Honestly I mainly go here for the amazing iced cafe con leches, but I also love their food. And the staff there are always sweet and helpful.
