Omg!!! Love this place! Best coffee ever and we love coffee!!! We had the Cafe Maya (spicy little kick was awesome) . Also had the Gelato coffee.. would have liked more coffee in it.. mostly Gelato. Had the healthy bowl which was sooooo freaking good with eggs, avocado, chicken, rice, beans, spicy Mayo.. cant wait to have that again. Went back 2nd day and had spicy chicken on Naan bread.. was pretty good.. maybe 7 out of 10. Heavy, but good.
Well this is my 3rd visit So I can honestly say that majority of the reason I rated them a 3 was because they arent consistent. Ive only ordered the Turkey and Swiss on a croissant. The very 1st time was so great. The 2nd time ok, but the 3rd time was the issue for me. I feel that this is on the pricey side but Im the type that will pay for what I want. Today I was cheated!! I only received 2 very thine slices of Turkey on my sandwich. I dont know What caused this but today I didnt get my monies worth... Im very disappointed 😞
Should have been a quick stop on way home from picking up student. Order a letter from their menu, used restroom, sat down waited. Turns out they forgot to make drink and blamed each other for screwing up. Then proceeded to make drink in the time it takes to make 3-4. Super slow! The whole time they were chatting with each other and another customer. I have operated a coffee shop myself and just moved here looking for my favorite places to go. This one probably lost me. Manage needs to get involved and set standards.
The interior design is cool. Service was quick, but perhaps a little too quick? My sausage croissant has definite potential, but came out completely cold. The egg and sausage are cold all the way through. All in all, I would try it again and hope for better preparation. Based on other reviews, seems like I had an isolated unfortunate experience.
Santos Coffee in Hoover offers a cool atmosphere, good food (breakfast, lunch, crepes, and treats), and a wide selection of beverages, including coffee, smoothies, tea, and more! For those who are daring or enjoy a bit of spice in their lives, I recommend the Cafe Maya, a signature mocha coffee beverages with a spicy kick.Santos is a great place to meet up with friends to sit around for a bit or have a bite to eat while you get some work done. Its also good on the go as there is a uniquely designed drive-thru that is quick and keeps you moving. I highly recommend trying Santos Coffee in Hoover. I make it a point to stop by whenever Im in the area. Occasionally, I even go out of my way to get to the area just so I can go.
You can observe a lot while you wait for your coffee here. This place has a different set of teens running it each time I’m here. I guess coffee shops aren’t profitable enough to justify adult supervision, but they sure could use some. Lots of sanitary issues observed and basically no one around seems like they’re interested in working. This is run like it’s someone’s hobby, not a business. And requesting a tip before you’ve even done anything is an insult. It’d be nice to have a good alternative to Starbucks, but this place isn’t it.
Best cappuccino Ive had in a very long time. Sweet staff too.
What a unique little coffee shop. The staff were amazing and friendly and the drinks were AMAZING!If you are in the area, you have to try them out.
Nice, clean, friendly place. I worry about Covid. No workers were wearing a mask. I understand customers but not the employees.
Latte wasn’t super.Breakfast wasn’t good at allaffogato would be good if you have a strong stomach.I have been twice and they have both been misses
Great little coffee shop. Tasty baked goods and lite lunch items. Friendly staff. Coffee hot and fresh. Plenty of parking. Lots of lite. Upscale decor. Outdoor seating also available. Suitable for sitting with friends, studying or first date.
The coffee and croissant I got were fine, but the barista that served us was not. Im not sure if she was having a bad day, but she was extremely short, borderline rude when taking my order and when I asked simple questions about the menu (things like do uou folks carry almond milk, or does the sandwich have cheese on it).I really like the Santos coffee shops, but the interaction was bad enough for me to visit another location for the foreseeable future. Coffee shops are half coffee and half vibe for me. Im not super picky about customer service, but this one was that off-putting.
Great atmosphere, yummy food and speciality coffees. Be careful tho, this rain is making everything slippery.
Youll go back, I promise. Great coffee, amazing service.
Nice coffee spot in the neighborhood. Busy, but service is decent
This was my and my son’s first time out getting coffee from an actual coffee place, and it was fantastic. The workers were helpful and the coffee was some of the best we’ve ever had(we mainly just make coffee at home with a coffee maker and it was definitely better than that). The apple pastry thing we had was also great, and we both loved it. 10/10 would go again.
Love this coffee shop! The coffee is delicious and there is so much variety in their drink and food menu. The service is great! Everyone was super friendly.
Very nice, cozy and cool coffee shop, great decoration, Central America coffee, good service, clean, indoor and outdoor tables, urban art, drive through. I ordered the veggie bowl and one Americano coffee, big parking lot.
Visited the shop a little before 8am today. There were only 2 employees running the whole place with several folks in line at the drive through and inside. They rocked it out!! Didnt skip a beat with excellent customer service and quality food/drinks. My cafe nutella and ham/egg/cheese croissant was probably the best that Ive ever had from there. Kudos to them for work well done!
This place has cozy atmosphere both inside and outside :) There aren’t many outlets for customers.
The coffee is amazing and I love the oat milk used in the coffee.
Every time I go here I order, tip, and then they forget my order. Ive tried to be patient, but this is a repeat offense. When I ask them about it after a long time has passed, they act like I did something wrong. No, I didnt. The ambience is nice, but this place is poorly managed and the coffee is terrible anyway. Its a shame, because its near my house.
It was OK. The speaker wasnt working and they were so slow. Didnt like that the workers were eating on the floor in front of customers. Where I can see them in the window in the drive thru.🤢 We wanted to try it but will probly not go back. Wanted to like it but didnt happen. But the little blonde girl was friendly!
Amazing place to spend the afternoon. The BEST coffee in Birmingham by far. I love the atmosphere and everyone makes you feel so welcomed. I really recommend everyone to pay them a visit. You wont regret it! Once there check out their Healthy menu... recommended 100%!
Food was outstanding! Highly recommend the sweet and spicy and the side sauce was great, Tracy was amazing!
Best coffee in town, hands down!
Cafe Affogato is AMAZING. Sweet Crepe is cooked perfectly. Exceptional service that is efficient by wonderful people wearing masks appropriately.
Love the place, but maybe a newbie taking orders today. Not used to hearing folks through the masks.
One of the only places in Birmingham / Hoover that you can get crepes. They have both sweet and savory crepes. The caffeine free selection of drinks here is also nice because you dont see that a lot and they are super tasty.I will definitely be coming back 👍
Santos is more than just a coffee drive-thru. Their menu covers breakfast, lunch and light dinner with plenty of snack options in between. There are some unique and healthy options on the menu making this a better option than most nearby places. The indoor and outdoor seating options are spacious and comfortable.Conveniently located near the Black Creek Mountain Bike Trail, I predict this will become a favorite stop for local cyclists looking to fuel up.My interactions with the Manager (Tracy) confirmed that the staff is open to feedback and working hard to make the experience better every day.I am really intrigued at the farm-to-cup story of this business and look forward to learning more about the history and vision for their 3 coffee farms. Will be checking back soon!
To begin with this place is so beautiful, smells amazing. My first time experience is definitely one that will always make me want toContinue going. For me it’s work the drive for a bite of coffee from Guatemala, brings back memories. Try it out, you’ll enjoy taking very beautiful pictures and most importantly you’ll love the coffee!
Good location. Tons of parking. Ive had a few drinks and one of their lunch sandwiches and all have been very good. The staff is friendly and attentive. I dont feel like the negative reviews on Google reflect it well. Nice place to study or meet with people. 5 stars.
Great coffee shop! I rode my bike here to meet my wife and her friend for a cup of coffee. It was great. Plenty of room to park my bicycle on the sidewalk. My wife had our dog with her and they brought out a treat for our Mini Schnauzer and a water bowl since it was a little hot out. The breakfast sandwiches and the sauce they came with were terrific and the drinks were amazing. Loved it and will definitely go back! Oh, and inside it was super nice. Looks like a great place to work or just chill out for an afternoon.
Made just for me but its for EVERYBODY!
This little coffee shop actually surprised me. Im a regular here now. Love the coffee and their protein bowl is great.
Every time I come here I love what I get. The freshcas are so good. The sandwiches are great. Get the banana bread.
Worst customer service and coffee I’ve ever had. Do not waste your money.
Been going to Starbucks once a day for months. Saw a sign on the road saying this was open and I pulled by to try it out, even with my girlfriend telling me every other coffee shop I try that isnt Starbucks I waste $5 at and hate it. I waited until I had been a few times before I made a review because consistency is key.Top quality staff, coffee, cream, and its all consistently great. They remembered me by my 3rd visit and its nice to have that. Plus the prices are better than Starbucks.
Super friendly staff and amazing coffee!! Much better taste and prices than Starbucks - Santos coffee is not bitter at all like Starbucks often is! Love the unique specialty drinks - especially the Basil Lavender Latte. I have been pleased with the consistency of the drinks and service every time I have visited. Overall, great coffee shop!
Pretty good spot to relax, unfortunately most customers dont wear masks or social distance
This is a quiet place to study or grab coffee, but Ive got to say that the crepes are amazing. They also have an app if you want to grab your order quickly.
A little bit pricey, but totally worth it. My wife is a HUGE fan of the Café Nutella (it’s a signature drink at Santos) and our almost-one-year-old can’t get enough of the crepes. Great atmosphere, has outdoor seating as well.
Worst coffee I’ve ever had. Customer service was just as bad.
Best espresso Ive ever had!
I love this coffee shop, it has the cutest drive through ever. They have very interesting coffee selections such as a lavender coffee and a nutella latte. The inside is spacious and the staff is very friendly. They have an app and a loyalty card.
Really great coffee and friendly service. I got a cold brew with almond milk and my dog enjoyed his puppuccino. I love having a local coffee shop in this area.
Great coffee and awesome service
Coffee is great, baked goods are delicious, and atmosphere is friendly. Even had a young guitarist/singer play one day.
Wonderful atmosphere inside with lots of comfortable seating. Great area to work from or enjoy a coffee with a friend. I’m a big fan!
The good: environment is incredible, better than Starbucks. Mint infused tea was delicious, house blend coffee was spectacular and the lavender/basil infused latte was delicious! Honestly, coffee better here than Starbucks. The bad: we ordered a crepe and after three attempts to make it, we were told our order could not be fulfilled. No explanations were given, so we ask for our money back. Employees seemed a little behind on menu preparation. No apologies given.
Nice spot - coffee could be hotter, but it had a decent taste. Husband liked his smoothie ok
Great little coffee shop in the middle of Trace Crossing. Super nice and friendly employees, fantastic coffee and even better brownies! Much nicer than Starbucks and even has a drive up! Highly recommend!
This place is unbelievably delicious. I’ve had the breakfast sandwiches, the passion fruit smoothie and the bananas strawberry crepes and they were all soooooo good. They have it decorated so nice too. It’s a treat for me to go out there with my husband.
Good coffee and super cute decor. The shop is located smack in the middle of a residential, family oriented area and has no high chairs and no changing table in the bathroom. Easy fix that would make it better.
First time and I encountered helpful employees and enjoyed my custom coffee. Plenty of seating with wifi and outlets for chargers!
Great place to relax and do homework
Delicious coffee and super friendly staff! I try to work from a coffee shop one day a week, and the atmosphere here is great. So thankful to have this gem so close to home!
Their crepes are great and the portions are decent too. Definitely try their sandwiches too
A lot of potential. Good coffee. But after 10 or so visits we have not and will not return because the customer service and speed/effort is consistently that bad.
Pet friendly until someone else complains about it. Was told cant make everyone happy so of course my family was the one to be left unhappy even though I made sure to ask before bringing my pets inside if they could come in. I wont take away that the food is good because it is so for food it is a good place. Just dont say you are pet friendly if youre going to change your mind after we already are inside and ordered. Not happy with it today.
Wonderful cheese and ham crepe! Excellent coffee!
So the coffee was okay. I ordered a medium iced latte (vanilla) and my mom ordered a small hot chocolate. The total was 8 dollars, so you expect it to be pretty good for how fancy the place was and a $5 coffee. Well I got the coffee and the medium was super small and the coffee is not even that good. You can go to dunkin and get the same thing with a proper medium and it’s only 3 bucks.
I truly love this places coffee it us very good the only thing is tonight I drove across town just to come by and purchase some coffee. This site shows you close at 9 pm that is why I drove across town because it showed you being open until thenUpon arriving at your drive thru showed you closed at 6 pm which is very aggravating to drive that far just to find out you ate closed and your hours are incorrect on here.
Very nice friendly environment. Their coffee is good and the staff is very friendly. They have a drive thru.
Nice place for a quiet cup
God tier crepes and very relaxing environment. Good place to hang out with friends
Love the coffee
Great atmosphere and drinks. Enjoyed our time there, definitely a great place to meet.
Great spot for a quick coffee! There is some seating but it’s not the kind of place designed for a lot of people. More like a small French cafe. Love the savory and sweet crepes! 😋
I went through the drive-through, at the Hoover location and a drink was spilled while I was waiting on my order. It went all down the drive-through window and on the floor. so the girl that was working the drive through grabed the mop and grabed towels and started cleaning it up with the mop and the rags and then did not wash her hands after she did not wear gloves wipe the rags all over the floor and then handed me a straw and my drink. There’s no hygiene used whatsoever here and I’m very unhappy With this! If the health department would’ve seen this I’m sure they would’ve been fined! Starbucks is much cleaner and better!
Great little coffee shop. Cant remember the name of my drink, but it was espresso and vanilla gelato - Id imagine thats what magical unicorn tears and rainbows taste like. Ill be back...soon.
Worst latte Ive had. Kind of reminded me of laundry water with artificial sweetener. Waste of money. The service wasnt bad. They were nice enough I guess. But I doubt they made the latter I ordered. My sisters latte wasnt much better.
I visit Santos a couple times per week and each time is a pleasure! Prices are much better than places like Starbucks and the coffee is excellent each and every time. Staff is always very friendly and even remember my face and order. Couldnt be happier to work near a place like Santos.
Pleasant environment and sweet customer service! Its all about treatment nowadays. The service and the smiles were contagious :)
Usually Im so happy but today was not the day... i took afew sips and its was awful so i opened the cup & everything was burnt...
Great coffee. Food was excellent. As was the service and atmosphere. Highly recommend.
First time...😍 Coffee was great!! I have to go back and try their food.
I LOVED this coffee shop. The coffee was amazing and flavorful. I had crepes, café agoffo, and the honey bun bar. My friend had drip coffee and a bacon/egg/cheese croissant. She loved her food too. Their drive thru is the cutest thing too! The patio makes for more than adequate seating also. This place has the makings of a wonderful brunch spot for sure.
Good coffee, vanilla latte frappuccino is my favorite.
Fast friendly service for reasonable prices
Great neighborhood coffee shop. Would like to see more relaxed seating.
Love the ambience and coffee
The staff was awesome the place was so clean and the coffee and crepes are divine. 10/10
I got coffee with Nutella, but the coffee tasted generic and Nutella was just at the bottom, not mixed in with coffee like it should be. I ate Nutella by itself which nonetheless tasted great.
1st visit was great... 2nd visit they were out of crepes... 3rd visit they were out of sausage (there were multiple people working and there is a Publix a mile down the street that sells Conecuh sausage... seems like an easy fix on a Tuesday morning)... Anyway, I got a bagel with bacon to go and when I got home found they put the sauce that comes on the side in the box without a lid. :( Maybe the person in charge of the lids was at Publix getting sausage? Im not sure, but it seems to me whoever owns this business put a lot of heart & money into this place... I hope they read these reviews & think about who they are letting run their business.
Here are the pros and cons:Cons:1. Extremely weak coffee2. No mobile data signal whatsoever, even with Verizon3. Something as simple as a breakfast sandwich takes 3x as long to make as it would take me in my own kitchen (waited a half hour)4. Wi-Fi login requires you to basically give Purple your blood type to login5. Limited places to plug in charger unless youre 110lbs and can sit on a bar stool comfortably for a couple hours6. The staff always seem scatterbrained, even if theres not a huge crowd7. Its kinda off the beaten path so not as accessiblePros:1. The older, short lady with gray hair who works there is super sweet
I think that Santos is good. It is not the best but it is good enough for you to pay a quick visit. As it is set (a small lobby cafe), the place is ok to grab a quick bite and coffee. Despite complaints about sitting area, I think this is how it is intended to be. So, not a place to sit for hours with a bunch of friends. The barista there is extremely friendly also!!
Good coffee and food. TERRIBLE customer service
Great little coffee shop with interesting coffee flavors. I would go out of my way to visit again.
Nice staff, good coffee, spacious and convenient location. Goodbye crowded Starbucks, hello Santos!
Not family friendly.Didnt answer the 3 calls before I drove over 20 minutes just to have to leave because there was no high chairs. Got attitude from the clerk when i asked about high chairs after waiting 15 minutes for him to help the 3 people in line in front of me.
Went on a morning that we had a heat advisory in effect for Birmingham. The Iced Americano was crisp and acidic, just the thing to wake up my taste buds and cool me off. They also had cold brew available, but I wanted the full on experience of their estates flavors. Paired that off with a savory Prosciutto crepe (not pre-made!) that bit the edge from the coffee. Freshly roasted whole beans (soon to become cold brew) were on sale (thanks instagram). All in all, a great coffee shop in the heart of north side. At 7 am on a weekday, street parking was easy. Later in the day, you might have to circle the block and walk a block or two (easy walk from anywhere on north side). Interior was cozy and well integrated into the lobby of the building it occupies with great view of the traffic on 3rd Avenue. Staff was friendly and made recommendations. Would go again. If you love coffee, you need to give this place a shot. Bonus: Who else has a vertically integrated coffee operation in Alabama? Very unique. Their Guatemalan coffee is grown at 1200m, so it came across brighter than I expected. Was very pleased.
Pretty good little coffee shop. Friendly staff, and delicious drinks.
Fantastic coffee, amazing customer service, and a cool atmosphere :) HIGHLY recommend. Best coffee shop in Hoover.
Shop: Santos CoffeeParking availability - 1It’s in downtown so the parking is all coin machine street side parking.Outward appearance - 5It’s very cute and very appealing outside! Deceptive of the inside. They have some outdoor table and chairs that line the sidewalk which is good for a cloudy day, but there is no protection from the sun.Atmosphere - 1Inside there are 6 seats. I came inside with 3 people and we had to sit outside due to it.The storage is under the condiment bar uncovered in large cardboard boxes. There is music but so lightly behind the counter through a plugged in speaker. The cafe is located in the downstairs open lobby that feels more like a hallway with doors and elevators that aren’t a part of the shop.I found out the shop is run by one of the offices located in the building - not a bad idea, but consulted no experienced professionals for anything on this little store. And if they did, they should have gotten more opinion and those professionals were posers.Pricing - below averageA couple dollars go a long way - a cappuccino is only 2.37 before tax.Barista friendliness - 3Maybe the most redeeming part of this trip. Sadly the feeling I got was there wasn’t a ton of coffee knowledge, but friendly and light in conversation.Cleanliness - 1Floors are kept neat and seating is clean, but this is all due to there being no space for customers, and not a lot of square footage to keep clean. But behind the bar was messy. But there were no customers so to not be able to stay clean is unacceptable.Coffee flavor - 1It always comes down to execution with the product. The best coffee can oversee bad parking and price. My cappuccino tasted like hotel coffee with a ton of white foam. Even if it wasn’t pricy, I do wish I hadn’t gotten any coffee.Overall rating - 2/10 (1 of 5 stars)
