Still checking places off on my tour of coffee around Huntsville, I stopped in at the Greenroom after work.Located inside the Camp -- kind of a cool concept at MidCity that has a couple food trucks/trailers, space for music and other entertainment, etc -- the Greenroom is a very tiny, attractive, hip coffee shop. Theres only a couple of super close together seats inside, so Id recommend getting your drink to go.The service was very friendly and nice when I visited. I opted to try one of their drinks on special for...the week? month? season? Not sure, but it was a limited time bananas foster coffee. It was solid -- faintly smoky, really light banana flavor (not noticeable in all sips), and not cloyingly sweet. I probably wouldnt return just to get this drink specifically, but Id be down to try other drinks, were it not for the price, which I thought was honestly kinda nuts.I get paying a premium for kinda ~fancy~ coffee. I was fully expecting paying between 4-6 bucks for a medium sized drink -- I would say most comparable spots and drinks run about $5.50. This drink, though, was $7.50 before tip, and the size was comparable to a /small/ drink. I didnt specify size when I ordered, so I dont have a problem with them giving me a smaller size necessarily, but I do have an issue paying $7.50 for a cup about the size of my fist. Thats just too steep for me, even if the drink had blown my mind. Its still worth a shot to see if its to your liking, but for me I probably wouldnt go again unless the prices came down a bit.
Best coffee Ive had. Best staff in town :) try the cold brew if you like something strong
Nice and comfy, coffee tastes great and they have quite many choices with a menu that keeps refreshing. The whole place mood is nice and its perfect to spend some time seated at a table outside. Their cookies are nothing special though and prices are way too expensive to me. Still worth a visit and I will come back 👍
Not only does the Greenroom serve great coffee, but the staff are super friendly! It never takes long to get my order, and the drinks are consistently good. They have Canadian Bakin bagels every once in a while, and other times its muffins and banana nut bread. While they dont serve Starbucks-like specialty drinks, the standard espresso drinks are great! Do recommend!
They definitely need to work on their customer service skills. The girl at the front was the absolute worst. The WiFi wasn’t working and when I brought it to her attention she haughtily replied that it wasn’t under her control and acted like I was bothering her (note: there was no one else in the coffee shop which maybe should have been my first clue). When I asked her if she was sure it was working because it wasn’t working on my end she got an attitude with me, which included rolling her eyes and getting unnecessarily angry. The worst part was berating me as if I’m some old dumb person saying“it works for me so I’m not sure why you’re having issues” and “sometimes you have to just wait a few minutes if you’ve tried a few times and THEN try connecting.” Instead of being helpful I was met with hostility. Honestly, Ive never been treated this way. I’ve worked in the service industry and travel around a lot for work which includes spending time in lots of coffee shops and this behavior literally left me speechless. She was young and was wearing a yellow Spider-Man shirt with long brown hair and teal eyeliner.I would suggest going some place else. It’s a shame that absolutely horrific service and being treated like a second class citizen ruined this cute little spot for me. Especially since I formerly loved going here. I will say the girl she was training was a lot nicer and seemed to realize her coworkers behavior was inexcusable. Now I am heading to a different coffee shop to be able to find WiFi and good service. I would suggest you do the same.Update:: Honest Coffee Roasters was absolutely incredible! Great service and vibes. I would check that place out instead until this place works out these issues.
One of the best coffee shops Ive been to! Just 5-8 min from UAH and close to other MidCity amenities. Baristas always made me feel welcome and appreciated. The price is a bit more than some other coffee shops in Huntsville, but in my opinion the cozy atmosphere, upstairs outdoor seating and STELLAR lattes more than make up for it! Shops like Honest may be more well known, but I always get better quality coffee and feel more at home at The Greenroom.
The prices were incredibly high for what we received - $30 for 2 small lunches and 2 coffees. The cold brew was steeped for too long, and not smooth at all. The online menu is not reflective of their actual product availability at all. We had hoped for a lunch from there, but wound up with the only thing they actually had available - chicken salad wraps. The chicken was overcooked and dry, and the wraps had no flavor. We were very disappointed and felt as if we had wasted our money. We wont be back.
They manage to get a good espresso out of medium roast, which is a challenge for me. Really love the location and have had good experiences.Today, I learned that the weakness of my last Americano wasn’t barista error but due to “going up a size” (short to tall) not coming with more coffee. Apparently, you have to ask for or authorize “the shot”, all of which are 2oz., which can be added at no additional charge. #secretmenuToday, I had a tedious conversation over a general inquiry, wherein I mentioned that I had a weak Americano previously (shot upsell opportunity?). Think we made up and figured it out, but it felt like a Portlandia episode. Is this supposed to be part of the “experience”, LOL?I wonder if it was the same person that Aubrey Stewart encountered.
Coffee was absolutely delicious! Despite the very long wait, it was worth it. The latte was unlike a latte Ive ever had before. If you are in a rush, I would not recommend stopping here. I would also say that it was kind of hard to find and there wasnt a lot of seating. Had to ask someone where the entrance was. However, the workers were really nice and their coffee was SO good!
Love getting alchemy at the camp. The location is super convenient, and all the staff Ive talked to here are great. Very friendly, and can suggest things for you if youre not sure what you want. The counter culture coffee changes out regularly, and I love getting to try new brews every now and then to see which are my favorites! Even the sitting area is cute and comfy.
Great selection of unique flavored lattes. Great little variety of in-house baked pastries. Cute area to wander & sit to relax. However, since shop changed from Alchemy, prices have skyrocketed. Flavored lattes are 7.50 then $1 to change milk.
Enjoyed the coffee. So many cozy hang out places. Well be back.
They have your standard coffeehouse style drinks with their own twists. My cappuccino was delicious. While they dont have a lot of seating within the shop, the seating in the whole Camp area is spacious. Vibe is great. Looking forward to coming here when warmer weather comes.
Great little coffee spot. Love to chill on the roof.
Tried them out while visiting from Atlanta. Really good coffee, great service. The bananas foster latte was super interesting 🍌☕
Great coffee in a fun setting. This is a great place
I love the atmosphere. Its like walking into a friends apartment for a cup of coffee. The coffee/ espresso is some of the best!
The store was cute and the staff was friendly. I ordered one of the holiday special coffee drinks. It was good, but definitely not worth the $7.00 I paid for it.
The photos on the map and the venue is totally different! It’s not what shows up on google. I was looking forward to a simple cappuccino and it was super burnt and definitely not worth $4! Was hoping to get some coffee from a local cafe but i could’ve gotten something a lot better from a Dunkin on a highway. :(
This place is so hipster geeky that it’s actually cool. Good thing that I can identify as a geek. My luck is that the menu today included one of my two favorite coffees - Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (from Hama cooperative). I love the blueberry notes. Mmmmmm. And yes it was served with dark chocolate and dried blueberries so you can check your palate. The coffee was prepared by vacuum press and is so clean and delicious. Their brewing process is a lot like that popularized by the coffee geeks at Stumptown. I wish this place wasn’t so far from Chicago. And it would be nice to be able to mix and match which coffee selection is prepared by the different processes.
Great service! Awesome atmosphere!
Would give one star but the coffee quality makes up for it.. still not as good quality as cafe 153. I won’t be back I watched 3 people get their drink before me when they ordered after me... super unprofessional. But otherwise atmosphere was quaint- very small. Try if you’d like but if you’re asking a reviewers opinion head over to bridge street the service, atmosphere, and people are so much more welcoming.. and the coffee is cheaper!
Hands-down, the neatest and coolest coffee shop Ive ever been in. I will always dream of returning to visit Huntsville just for this place, and its super unique concoctions. I would have previously gagged at the thought of Mexican coke, cold brew espresso and lime, but now I will crave it from the hands of these alchemists until I return for more.
Loved the Hippea Camper Shredder Green juice! Absolutely amazing.Their large latte with 1 pump of vanilla is absolute perfection. Sad to say Im not a local and was just passing through. I would go there every day if I lived nearby. Staff was friendly and made beautiful latte art. They spoke highly of the owner. Great work family it appears - nice touch.
Loved thier coffee
Quite good. Service is excellent. New owners are doing it right. One star taken only because there are a LOT of local sources for beans these days. Would like to see this place tied into the production ecosystem here more.
This is a cute little coffee shop. Its constructed out of barge containers. Its quite cool. there is a balcony and plenty of seats outside in the courtyard to drink your choice of quality coffee. I enjoyed my visit. Great friendly staff.
Specialty drink was unavailable. Alternative they made was luke warm. Not a good experience.
I used to come a lot when work pulled me close to area. Work has changed, but I was close by and snuck in today.Just like I remembered and loved !We were driving through Montgomery on the way to Atlanta and stopped for lunch. Great food. Good prices. Nice service. Have the fried green tomatoes.
Amazing, creative drinks are designed here! I loved their butterscotch hot chocolate -- perfect for when it was too late for caffeine. The cafe itself is pretty small, but it is located with a bunch of other little places and there is a huge outdoor area with pleasant music in the background.I went around New Years, so I was the only one outside, and it felt as if I were in a movie scene. It was picturesque, peaceful, and I got a stamp on my Coffee Passport! Highly recommend.
For anyone who enjoys coffee, this is an amazing place. If you are someone who does not put sugar in their coffee, this is the best place in town. They have the best cold brew coffee i have ever purchased from a coffee shop. They use a great bean/roast, and nailed the ratio and steep times to get all the flavor of the beans used without overpowering bitterness or wateriness. That is a subtle skill that a lot of places who also use good beans do not have. Cant recommend this place enough.I cannot speak to their other coffee offerings, as I dont drink them, but I feel comfortable in the assumption that their lattes and such are also amazing. My only complaint is they are a little awkward to get to. You have to park in a gravel lot and go into a little gated courtyard to find the front door. Not a big complaint, but if I had to nitpick something.
Was excited to try the avocado toast. They no longer selle it. Drove 7 miles to get here in traffic.Unfortunately when I Arrived I tried to Order some other stuff they had in the manu but they were also out of that.Ordered a coffee that was I’m the menu as well and they were out of cold brew.I ended up with an oat vanilla late and a plain toasted begel.Should have stoped at south brew!
Great service and delicious drinks. Best matcha latte I’ve had anywhere.
Good coffee. Great atmosphere.
The staff here was friendly. We were not fans of their coffee though. I had an americano and it was very bitter. My husband tried the cold brew and said the same. They also do not have any sugar free sweeteners or syrups besides Stevia. I dont think we will stop by here again.
Great coffee!! Try the Sylvester!!
Cool location. Coffee was average (for this style of shop. Still good, not exceptional). Not much space inside.Ill give it another chance some time.
I love alchemy coffee! They are located at The Camp in mid-city -- which is quirky and cool. The store front is very tiny, with a small ordering counter, but it feels cozy more than cramped. Inside there are a few window-side seats and a hightop table from maybe 4. The coffee selection is very good and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They also have snacks available for purchase. Its easy to order and pay and Ive never had to wait very long. The process are on par with similar java joints. The really unique feature here is the rooftop seating.Outside there are steps leading to a rooftop deck with comfy outdoor seating that overlooks The Camp. Theres also a small covered seating area up there that can accommodate maybe 4 or 5 people. This is a great place to talk and listen to love music when its there at The Camp (always at night). The roof seems to stay open even when the store is closed. My only complaint, and its not especially valid, is that the shop closes at maybe 6pm. Thats not very unusual for a coffee shop (Starbucks being the notable exception). But when I come out in the weekend for music it would be nice to have a coffee. The are open wait in the morning, of course, so no issues there.
Alchemy Coffee is a very trendy and friendly place to visit and hang out. I have always been very satisfied by the level of customer services received at both locations (The Camp -and- Now Closed - Lowe Mill). The baristas have a nice medium sized selection of drinks both hot and cold. They also have a few pastries, they are always delicious. If you go in the morning they do offer a few breakfast boxes that are very cute and interesting. The reason I gave 5 stars:The coffee is always delicious it does not taste burned or underpowered.Pastries have been good every time. The staff is always very helpful at explaining any items on the menu even it its a little busy. There is space to hang out on the patio above the coffee shops and there is also an air-conditioned area up there too.The place is very trendy looking and everything is decorated with taste.
Gracious service; aesthetically pleasing. With respect to the coffee side of The Camp, the venue has tight quarters. In addition, the limited seating provided no outlets (charge up before you go). The ambiance felt like one you might find in a tiny, boutique hotel. We appreciated the well-conceived, limited menu.
Jacob and Seth were knowledgeable, friendly and made me a great cappuccino and bagel--thanks guys! Plenty of seating options and especially nice outdoor space
Cool place with delicious craft coffee, beautiful food, nice people. Located in a super little food truck park, the atmosphere is fun and funky and is a great addition to good ol Huntsville. Will definitely be back anytime Im in the area!
I went on Saturday at noon. The look and feel of this place was excellent, and fits perfectly with this cool eclectic location. I Def give this 5 star rating but I will say, this particular day, with a band playing very loudly on the stage, it made it impossible to talk or order drinks. Quite opposite from what I hear is the normal atmosphere at this business. I would like to go again when the spot is quiet. But, to each their own I guess.
Quick stay in Huntsville. Worried I wouldnt be able to find a good cup of coffee, then I found this place. Its a great quiet atmosphere to hang out in in the mornings, coffee is superb, and the staff is welcoming.
No air-conditioning but coffee was good.
The best coffee spot in town! Exceptional staff, wonderful customer service, and a cozy environment. The cold brew was the best Ive ever had and the coffee cake is life changing. My new go-to spot in Rocket City. Check them out!
Really cool spot. Service was quick and with a smile. I had an iced latte that was very good. The amount of drink (oz.) for the money will limit my trips. Just under $6 for a very small cup. (10-12oz)
This place has amazing coffee! I was a bit skeptical at first since it seemed like it was set up in a party shack. When I left, I was very satisfied with the experience and with what I ordered.I definitely plan on coming back more often.
Alchemy has some of the best staff in town, and best cold brew Ive tried. Their hours are also great, open early before normal work hours. They also have breakfast sandwiched now, which are customizable and to die for! Even for vegetarians. Secret: ask for maple in your latte.
Went here and was told that the Americano was a good drink that went well together. Well it does not, unfortunately I already left before I tried it but it made me gag every sip I threw it away about 3 sips in. I maybe would go back here again and try a latte but thats very unlikely since the employees told me this drink was good.. so was not!
Fantastic! First time in and will be going back soon! The 2 gentlemen making the coffee were friendly, knowledgable and welcoming. And the coffee...havent had this quality since moving here from Oregon 10 years ago! And Ive looked all over the area for good, quality coffee...a 10 year search that is now over! :) Thank. You.
This place is great! The baristas are friendly and fast and the coffee is the best in town!
Im not a huge fan of coffee, but I can tell when its bad. This place has made it perfect every time weve gone. Its truly worth it for the price!
As a Counter Culture Coffee partner, Alchemy has access to some of the best training and most consistent roasting out there. Theres good reason their coffee is consistent, and consistently great.
Love this place for eclectic environment and great service! The Oatmeal is ridiculous! Staff is cool too.
The coffee here is very good, a little pricey but worth it since it is consistent each time I visit. Be prepared to wait to receive your order if there is a line up, but would recommend checking this place out.
Alchemy and the camp are a great setup. Staff very nice and coffee is delicious. This is a great place to hang out and talk and soon go for live music also!
Pricey, but delicious.
Ive had the mocha and the latte. Both are incredible. By far the best mocha Ive had.It was not overly sweet, but both the chocolate and the coffee were full-bodied flavor. The latte was excellent. The coffee had a rich flavor, no bitterness.Even without sugar, the sweetness of the foamed milk was easily detected. They also served a sparkling water with the beverage, which was enjoyable (picture attached).
I went to the Lowe Mill location, and it surpassed my high expectations. The coffee was smooth. My mocha was just perfect, and I love that they only serve homemade syrups. Less really is more. The atmosphere was classy and relaxed. I will definitely be back.
Really delicious coffee. Nice atmosphere too, though limited seating. They make their flavor syrups from scratch. I had a caramel latte and it was amazing. Wish I lived closer!
The exterior is awfully deceiving, but when you walk inside youre instantly taken to a beautiful location. The art show/industrial vibe takes you on a rustic adventure. I felt like I was in a speakeasy from the 20s because of its hidden feel. On top of the super great atmosphere, the coffee is delicious!! And better yet, the staff is kind and welcoming. I highly recommend this place for hang outs, a quick bite, a nice cup of coffee or a beer (because they have those too!). I will definitely be returning soon.
I got the Americano which was good, wife got an iced coffee which was meh. It was ok. Not worth the money to be honest.
Alchemy is a neat place, but its expensive for what you get. The coffee is pretty good but nothing amazing. I like Turbo coffee in Florence better myself. The menu is a bit small and the restaurant was hot (they have fans and a couple of small AC units but they couldnt keep up with the heat, even in October. I bet it is pretty brutal in the summer. Im glad I gave it a shot, but Ill probably stick to other shops in the future.
Beautiful decor and ambiance-- interesting menu built on wholesome ingredients and tasty caffeinated treats! An absolute pleasure to watch them prepare the drinks.Turmeric chicken salad with baby greens was refreshing and satisfying, but they wouldnt sell me a side of pita bread to go with it (which is on the menu paired with hummus) and the worker plating the food very firmly told the cashier absolutely no substitutions. Communication error? Low on pita bread that day? Rechecked the menu, no disclosures about substitutions. Either way, would return.
Glad they support the local business Piper and leaf as well. But when I got my tea hot it was... pretty well room temp. Sure it was probably just a fluke though.
Alchemy Coffee is probably one of my go tos for local coffee. The atmosphere is always so clear and peaceful. I feel like the color scheme and cozy chairs to sit in really give it such a welcoming feeling. The staff are always so friendly and helpful, which really makes the atmosphere more welcoming. The latte art is so beautiful and the iced coffees are always presented in a lovely manner as well. Ive never had a problem at this location and overall, its always money well spent. Im always happy with my experiences here!
Great coffee and quirky staff. Would recommend friends to visit. Cant wait for the food trucks to be more consistently open.
