Trista LeBlanc is the best! I have long, thick, curly hair and every time she is able to leave my hair so straight, soft and shinny and my hair last like that for over a week! It took me long to try Paul Mitchell school and find “my” Trista! :) that I can trust my hair with.I would not go anywhere else.
I have frequented the school several times to have my hair colored and cut and refreshed in color and Jordan Travis has always done a fabulous job. She’s very interested in the theme that you’re trying to reach with your hair and she’s very creative with the colors she puts in your hair. I get compliments virtually every day even though it’s been about six weeks since the last time I’ve been there people are still complementing me on my color. I definitely would recommend her.
The students are very friendly. The space has a clean, edgy and contemporary feel. I would definitely visit again.
Jacqueline did an excellent job from start to finish. The instructors were attentive and super nice. They both went over with me & each other what she was going to do. I got a shampoo, cut & blow dry. I had bought a Groupon & only paid $11 (plus a tip). This was way more than I hoped for & couldnt be happier with my experience. Jacqueline was one of the ONLY people ever to not cut my hair too short. Shes going to be (already is) a phenomenal hairdresser. I wish I knew where shell end up because Id keep her as my sole hairdresser in the future.
I got McKenzie! She was SO nice!! She did an AMAZING job. I’m literally obsessed with my hair. I was so scared going in. She was so gentle and thorough. I enjoyed it so much. She’s so personable and easy to talk to. I just moved here and needed a new stylist and I 1000% found her. I will for sure follow her to her new salon once she graduates. 10/10!!
Mitta is AMAZING! So much fun and gorgeous results every time! The whole experience is efficient, well explained, and the best bang for your buck. Yes, they are in school, but you are in great hands throughout whatever process you need. You wont regret it!
Emily C. Is the best person to ever do my hair! I have come back and requested her 5 times. She always does an amazing job and makes my hair look amazing and so healthy!P.S. I love how the salon smells like syrup on Saturdays!
Great job on my six year old and myself- a little consign with the Groupon and a little upset I couldn’t get a refund since I bought 4 haircuts for 2 people (bought the wrong option per their suggestion) but happy with the cuts
I’ve gotten my hair done here countless times. The pricing is amazing. However, it is unfortunately very inconsistent even with patience and understanding that these are students. Depending on who answers the phone, setting the appointment can be an irritating experience like pulling teeth. Isabelle answered the phone today and, based solely on how she was speaking to me, I just called a different salon and set an appointment with them instead. Also, I’ve shown exact pictures of what I want to both the stylist and learning leader every time I’ve gotten my hair done here. What I ask for is never crazy; it’s always the same thing (a natural looking balayage that is not a huge jump in lightening my brunette hair). Every time, my hair comes out differently than expected and very differently from the photos even under the guidance of the learning leader. I am left feeling a varying degree of disappointed until it just grows on me. After 6 hours in the chair (or maybe 5 on a good day), there’s absolutely no way I want to stay and have them attempt to correct it. Then at the end they upsell like crazy, even when you already tell them you’re good on products.
My experience at this place is always amazing. I always go to Jordan and she’s the best. She can do just about anything and everything.
Went for layers for curly Latin hair not hood shirt layers horrible girl need to stick with being a nurse honey now my hair destroyed I have all this short hair and like a v tail never again
Great place to get a haircut! Hailey did a fantastic job, in trimming my hair. It looks and feels wonderful. Everybody was very nice and friendly, and professional. I most certainly will be back again, in a few months. I highly recommend this school to get your hair done!
Had my haircut by Riley today and could not be happier! Truly a professional and kind environment! Her ability to listen to my concerns and work through what I was looking to achieve was top notch! A great professional in the making!!! Many Thanks Riley!!!!
Jordan keene was my stylist and she did a great job once again! amazing customer service and my color and cut look fantastic. so excited to see what she’ll do next!
I am rewriting my review after finishing my second session at PMTS (Jacksonville location). About a week ago I booked an appointment with what I thought was a phase 2 student for balayage. My student had apparently never done it before- it turned out horrible. I felt like my hair was ruined. I went home more than just a little upset that night.Let me tell you what- That night I called and left a VM for the school asking if there was anything we could do to fix my hair. Within 12 hours, I received a response. After sending my photos to the clinic classroom leader, Jill, she immediately helped schedule me with an honors student on a day that she would be there to oversee the correction.I just left PMTS and let me say- I AM IN LOVE. Jill was awesome, she oversaw the whole operation and checked in periodically to make sure everything was going perfectly; however, the person who really blew me away was my stylist, Hannah. This girl is so talented. First of all, her personality immediately puts you at easy. Shes funny, sweet, and confident. Hannah and Jill both talked with me in detail about what I wanted before deciding on a game plan. Hannah really took her time and made sure everything was done perfectly. It turned out better than I could have imagined. I HAD to make sure I booked another appointment with her before she graduates next month- she is going to go so far in this field.Overall, my entire perception of PMTS has changed after this visit. The school and Ms. Jill showed amazing customer service and care, making sure people know that they really see clients as people and not just a head to practice on, and Hannah is just phenomenal. If you are in need of color, I highly suggest requesting her ;)The straight hair is after my first visit (only dyed half my head) the curly hair photos are after my second retouch visit
The students were knowledgeable and the instructors were very good at helping with the procedure.
KinKadB fixed my hair on Saturday. She listened to my needs, and corrected my mistakes. My cut turned out great, and I feel so much better! It was an amazing experience! Thanks KinKadB!!
Olivia did a fabulous short hair cut underthe tutelage of Ralph the instructor. It’s a complicated edgy cut that someinstructors cringe 😬 when I ask.Ralph’s enthusiasm, confidence andknowledge really empowered Oliviato tackle it. Olivia and Ralph were sothoughtful and kind. Both have a warmpresence and I wish the very best to bothin their careers. I always mention thisPaul Mitchell to anyone considering thisfield. I just ❤️ love Paul Mitchell and wellI’m loved back.
My barbers name is rushin and she di the best perm job
Went in for only a toner to take the brass out and I came out like I wanted to completely color my hair dark! Manager was the one who mixed the toner and she didn’t even come back out to apologize. I went from blonde hair to dark drown! Will never go back
Great experience! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND
My experience was amazing the girl did an excellent job doing my hair and coloring.
This was my first visit to the Paul Mitchell school. The atmosphere was great and upbeat. I came in for a haircut and highlights, and they did a really great job. I have no complaints. The only reason for four stars is that it took much much longer than it should have, but the girls did amazing with the colors and highlights. They were very thorough and careful, so it did take a lot of time that I wasnt expecting it to. Luckily, I had sort of a free day so it didnt intervene with my schedule. My hair looks great and I feel so much better, and it was affordable! Thank you!
I called Paul Mitchell for a last minute (and much needed) appointment. They got me in within a hour! My amazing stylists name was Emma H., I couldn’t be happier with my results! She took her time and made the experience fun! I had long hair down to the middle of my back and wanted to go shorter but was so nervous. Emma was very reassuring and excited for the results just as much as I was! She suggested I try things I wouldn’t ever have tried before and explained things when I didn’t know what they were. She was so confident and that made me confident in her! My hair come out amazing! I can’t wait for my next appointment with her!
Affordable. Relaxing. Great learning instructors. Amazing students who are eager to learn and aim to provide a memorable experience at all times. Appointment scheduling is easy and you can rebook with the same student. Every service has been executed well and if there is any reason to correct something, they will without hesitation. Theres no sales pressure. They may take a bit longer with services, but youll be happy. All my referrals have been pleased.
Where else can you go and have a glam team for your hair?! I have difficulty trusting a hair dresser. But I’ve been here 2 times now and it’s reassuring to have experienced professionals involved during each step from consulting to blow drying. Great job Allie and teachers ! I love my hair!
My experience at Paul Mitchell the School Jacksonville has been nothing short of exceptional from the rambunctious greeting on my first day, to my encounters with staff and students on a day to day basis. No word would more accurately describe this family than home. I knew cosmetology school would change my life but I never imaged the profound effect it would have on growing me as a human being. One of my favorite aspects of being a student here is how I feel so confident being my genuine self, without judgement. While here, I’ve been able to share pieces of my story with my classmates and staff alike and have been greeted with nothing less than open arms and acceptance. The staff here is nothing short of incredible—so much so, that I make a point to stop by the offices to say hello any chance that I get. I’ve never been in such an uplifting and encouraging environment. I feel so blessed to be able to learn from the knowledgeable instructors here and I feel their excitement any time I learn a new skill and/or succeed.I would recommend this reputable school to anyone who is looking to get started in the beauty industry. This education is already one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I will complete my education in May and be a proud Paul Mitchell the School Jacksonville alumni.
Amanda Costa did an amazing job. The winter season made my scalp dry out so she gave me a eucalyptus tea tree treatment that felt amazing. She blew out my hair perfectly and straight. My hair feels better than ever thanks to the Paul Mitchell products Too. Definitely will be back to see her😍
Excellent haircut and very pleasant experience.
PARENT OF STUDENT WRITING REVIEW: As a parent it has been extremely disappointing to hear how the Teachers interact with the students as well as how the staff chooses to handle discrepancies. I chose to go in and speak with a supervisor, it was that bad, and they refused to speak with me. YET....it was perfectly okay for me to be present and sign a ton of forms for the financing!!?? However, now that there is a conflict, they wont speak with me. I took some time to study whats really going on at this school, interviewing other parents and students within her classes, reading reviews, etc., and it appears there are a lot of staff changes (go figure) and there is no real structure. Most expensive school though!! My child DETESTS going to this school and this industry is her PASSION! I am simply BESIDE myself considering that my child has to endure such a volatile atmosphere in order to get her certification. The teachers do not prepare the students well enough for the assignments required, for instance: bringing in your own models. No time frames are given to the student to prepare their model and classes are hours long. So I suppose your model must be prepared to sit for hours until your student is called upon to preform the necessary assignment with their model? This is just one example of poor classroom management. Other examples: Teacher tone, belittling, condescending. I am writing this in order to compel other parents and students to do YOUR OWN research before making your choice on this school. Many of her classmates are talking about dropping out simply because of the atmosphere. THIS IS NOT GOOD and our children should not be driven to give up on their dreams based on the staffs poor ability to execute a healthy classroom environment. I have to have a daily conversation with my child in order to assist her in letting this go and keep pushing through it, as a parent should, but I cannot help but to feel the pain of knowing that this is the environment she has to endure for months on end.
#1 Best in Jax! Thank you :)
I was in Paul Mitchell Salon school yesterday, my stylists names was Karol and Victoria. Both very nice ladies. I received the best care there yesterday, better than any salon Ive been to. Im not from Jacksonville, but this is now my go to place for hair care and treatments. Awesome atmosphere, I absolutely enjoyed my services. I will recommend to my friends. And I will most definitely come back!!!!
Just a horrible experience had everything turned in except a transcript from tulsa welding school (which not to mention I was never told until last minute I needed this transcript) Then after telling them I couldnt get it they rejected me. So I had to put up a debate with someone to get my non refundable security deposit back because they never told me I needed the transcript from the other school...with that being said all the other cosmetology schools I was looking into have no open spots or dont start till 202. Just very unhappy with this school and the staff.
Went today and had my hair highlighted, deep conditioned, color and cut. First, it looks awesome. Jen did a fantastic job. Next the salon was clean, upbeat, everyone was very friendly. Couldnt have had a better experience or a better value. Wow!! Will be taking my kids back and recommending it to everyone I know. The instructor helped here and there but Jen was doing a fantastic job and the other stylists around her station were turning out happy clients with great styles, too.I had ruined my hair with a Keratin treatment a year and a half ago and have not been back to a salon since. I love having my hair professionally done again.
Ten stars! Today i got my hair colored for the first time in two years. I asked for a lot: I needed my root color brought down to fade into blonde . I worked with Erin and Dani. They talked with me for severe minutes to pin point the look I was going for. The educator was also involved in the process and checked up on us.They colored, washed, toned my hair, gave it a cut, blowed it out and curled it.My hair looks flawless. It’s bright and beautiful. The color is fantastic. The girls even got pictures of my hair in front of the ring light.Thank you all for helping my hair dreams to come true. I feel amazing!
Going to Paul Mitchell the School Jacksonville has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. The quality of education is unmatched, the teachers are phenomenal, and the environment is a trendy and comfortable space for you to start to learn your craft. I’m always proud to tell my clients I went to a Paul Mitchell school (which is typically followed by ooohs & ahhs). I promise if you show up, work hard, you will be a hundred percent happy with your time there!
I have had better haircuts at this school than I often get in high-end salons, and the cuts cost maybe a third or quarter of what theyre worth. Leslie was fantastic and asked for my input every step of the way. Amber has amazing cutting skills. The facilities at this location are also top notch! This place even looks like a high end salon inside. You must expect services to take a little longer, but since the work is supervised, your stylist will take their time and do a careful job, which doesnt always happen elsewhere.I highly recommend this location!
Warm, friendly, funny and dedicated to learning their craft! I was VERY hesitant to let a female cut my hair after an experience I had. However, a young lady named Isis came over to talk to me, and I eventually allowed her to cut. She made it very clear of the steps shed take to make sure she was doing the right thing, her supervisor came to check it out whenever she had a question, and that was amazing for me to experience. My haircut is great and I have received many complements! The gentleman who worked next to her was very generous as well; I cant wait to see them again the Wed. after next!
Ive been coming to Paul Mitchell every 3 weeks for 3 years and I have never been disappointed. In fact, Ive received better service than an upscale salon. Their prices are reasonable, they use great products, everyone is personable, and they go the extra mile to ensure you are satisfied every time. If you havent checked them out, youre missing out. Its the best secret of JACKSONVILLE. Today Lauren is doing my hair and she is phenomenal!!
I had the recent experience of hiring one of the students here, Ben, for special effects makeup on my JU film set. He was absolutely amazing and the school was extremely helpful in getting me an artist. Could not be more pleased with both the teachers, the staff, and the students here for their competence and professionalism.
I was treated very well by Jacob. He colored, conditioned, and washed my hair with meticulous attention to detail, every step of the way. He and his teacher listened to me with my requests for the color I wanted, and to make sure all the shampoo was out of my hair. Cant wait to go back. It did take a lot longer than I thought it would, but I will return because its about the same price with much less effort and a better result than doing it at home myself. Besides, these products are the only ones that stick to my hair.
Going in I was a bit hesitant, even though a friend had recommended me to come in. Kelsey Smith was my Future Professional and did an amazing job!! She started off the process with a head massage, then washed my hair and calmly took her time cutting and styling my hair. She remained attentive to the conversation I was making with her meanwhile staying committed to ensuring I walked a way with a cut and style that I was happy with. Meanwhile the floor Learning Leader check my hair to be sure Kelsey was providing this service. Kelsey was spot on every time (with maybe one or two minor trims made by the leader). The three of us were very pleased with how my hair turned out and I definitely recommend coming in as I will be back for sure thanks to Kelsey and The Paul Mitchell School Jacksonvilles friendly staff!
Wonderful atmosphere. Yes, you can tell, and are told repeatedly, that its a school but everyone is so professional. My stylist was a little shy at first because I asked for an unusual style, I have the sides and back shaved and only ear length hair on top, which I wear either to one side or straight back. My cut turned out better than I even hoped for and the small changes that the supervising stylist made to it made it go from an eight to an 11. The head/neck massage when they wash your hair is worth the cost of the cut and then some on its own. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I am looking forward to going back for a trim, something I usually put off as long as possible.
I had a great experience at this school yesterdayI like how the school look inside very clean and organized. The stylists and instructors are very friendly and do hair really good.I LOVE the way my hair looks and feels.Michelle is a very good instructor excellent skills. She made my blowout look like a relaxer with the help of Stylists Elaine and Jayla they did a great job.I highly recommend them.
The products are pretty great for being professional and cruelty free. The hairstylists are all upbeat and friendly. They are also very knowledgeable and prevented me from melting my hair off. I have come here for my perms, but today I am doing color. So far, i have not had a bad experience; therefore, i will continue to come back.
I discovered Paul Mitchell School about a year ago. I have been going every 4-6 weeks ever since. I have naturally curly hair and the fact that I can get it washed, cut and blown straight for $15 is a steal. I’m not real adventurous, I usually just get a trim with my square long layers, since my hair curls it’s difficult to mess that up, not sure I would trust a student if I wanted a drastic change but I feel like my trim is good practice for them and a deal for me, the major bonus for me is getting my hair blown straight! They are always super friendly. I warn you to prepare for a long day, especially of you are getting color! I dont mind this at all. However, if you are in a hurry and looking for a 15 minute cut or have a high strung personality you should go elsewhere, these are students. Realistically expect 2.5 hours for cut/style and 5 hours for cut/color/style. I feel the experience is pampering, I look at it as me time. The students are brimming with knowledge so they always talk about your hair/products/habits extensively before proceeding. Then they discuss with the learning leader (Cameron is amazing). Throughout the haircut and dry the teacher will stop by to check and often help. Many times I have had two people working on me at the same time and it just makes me feel even more pampered. I feel like it is a great value for the money and it is a great experience. NOT recommended for impatient or type “A ”personality people but if you have a few hours to kill and have patience I definitely recommend Paul Mitchell School.
I brought my daughter, who is 14, in for blond highlights and her stylist was Chanel. She was AMAZING! She listened to what my daughter wanted, asked her to show her the color she wanted and did exactly what my daughter wanted done. She was great with both of us, explaining each step of the process and making sure it was exactly what my daughter wanted before proceeding to finish. Her personality was great and she made my daughters first color experience truly fun and memorable! Thank you Chanel for a wonderful experience!
This school is fantastic and I love it. It offers a variety of students who do a great job and are very good.
This place is great both for the customer as well as the students looking to gain experience cutting, styling, etc... hair. The prices are a good percentage lower than most, even affordable, places. I came in only looking for a mens haircut and it ran me a flat $15, Ive had many haircuts from various different price points and the cheapest had to have been $21.Of course the price comes with a risk, and that risk being the students are Ill-experienced thus the atmosphere will be that of a learning one.For example, every step of my haircut had to be first stated by a sort of Proctor first stating what had to be done, then how to do it, then the student would do his/her best, and finally fetch the Proctor for inspection of the work.I believe people who have given this place a very negative review should have known what they were getting themselves into however I also believe the school should do a slightly better job at clearly communicating the lack of experience their students possess.Over all a very nice experience, if you need a cheap haircut and are willing to let someone Ill-experienced practice on you then this place is perfect.Just please read the form before signing :D
What an experience. Everyone was very pleasant and professional. The young lady that styled my hair and gave my hair a much neededconditioner. WOW, what a different; prior to the hair treatment; I looked like a wild woman. If my hair could; it would hug her, She and others werevery nice and my stylist answered each question. I for sure will return and I hope my stylist will be able to do my hair again. I say go to them and see for yourself.
Camryn Wilson and her instructor Ralph did an amazing job on my hair tonight I’m absolutely in love with it. I highly recommend her for your color/style needs
This review is relevant to their customer service not for work on my hair. My hair was too dark to achieve what I wanted in one sitting. I got to my appt on time but it took 27 minutes for someone to assist me. I will point out that after 20 minutes, the front desk lady did apologize for my wait and went to find a stylist. I believe that this doesnt normally happen and the girl that was assigned to do my hair left for the day. When I finally sat in the chair and told the student stylist, teacher, and color expert what color I wanted to achieve, the color stylist was honest with me in her feedback. These ladies were friendly and empathetic to my needs. I can forgive the long wait because of great customer service!
Ive been here several times and every single time I leave here absolutely amazed! Paul Mitchell has the most talented stylists and future stylists around. I recommend this place to everyone, men and women! Love love love! Be back soon!
Got my hair cut several times here. Always good and friendly customer service and great haircuts. The students and teachers work closely to ensure your haircut is amazing each time. Although a haircut takes longer but worth it with quality and price
Name is Sandy and I had an awesome experience, beautiful hair color. Meara you are Blessed already, stay focused and remain faithful. I look forward to having you do my hair again.
Skylar was great. She and her learning leader Denise took the time to discuss with me in detail what I wanted. I moved from Arizona a month ago and havent had my hair done in over two months. The prices are fantastic and its nice to get to know new stylists. If youre in a hurry you wont like this place Please remember these are students and it takes time. I was there for 3.5 hrs.
I have been going to the Paul Mitchell School in Jacksonville, Fl. for about 6 months. I have had amazing experiences every time I go. I enjoy the atmosphere and the red carpet treatment! The students are knowledgeable and confident. The instructors are superb! Nothing but wonderful things to say and the prices are so reasonable. I would recommend anyone here!!
As a guest of the salon, you will receive the best experience of any school in the area. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure you have an immaculate experience.I did also attend Paul Mitchell The School Jax and It was an amazing experience that I am forever grateful for. All of the learning leaders are top notch, the staff is all amazing. Even the students are all great. I love this school and Paul Mitchell and Im extremely proud to call myself a Paul Mitchell graduate.
I came in at the right time & waited almost an hour. However I got to read a magazine & it was actually relaxing. When I got in a chair, Sierra was my stylist. everyone was very nice & the student stylist was closely supervised by a learning leader. I didnt know how much off my length I wanted, & when I got home it was still too long. We were in the area later that same day & stopped in. I asked if they could take more off without charging me for another cut. The learning leader, Denise, said, sure! We can help u with that. And she did! When she finished, the length was just where I wanted it! I greatly appreciated them working with me that way! I love my haircut!
Getting my hair done now for the first time in 3 years! Could not have asked for a better experience considering I dont enjoy getting my haircut. Tony did a great job putting me at ease and taking care of my hair! Overall staff was very welcoming and friendly. I would recommend Paul Mitchell to my friends!
I have been going to PMTS for years; first in Columbia, SC and now Jacksonville, FL. Every time I get my hair done, I am impressed with the attention to detail these students and instructors give to my hair. I get amazing results for a quarter of what I would pay in a salon. The only suggestion I would have to you is prepare to spend more time for your service than you normally would. These are students and they are learning, the instructor will check their work as they go and assess their work at the end to insure that you have beautiful hair when you leave. All of that adds up to extra time, so just be prepared. It is worth it!!!
I had my hair cut and colored by Kim B. She did such an amazing job! By far the best haircut Ive ever recieved. She mixed up a color for me and made a beautiful chocolate brown with hints of red. I have found my new stylist!!
Perfect location and friendly people. The teachers attend and review each step in the process and the student stylists work hard and learn a lot. I was thrilled to help the education process in a future stylists career. The price point is great too- Come see Kaitlyn Mordecai for some great foil work!
Stopped by here to return to my nature color, brunette! Yvonne was my stylist and she did a wonderful consultation with the help of her team leader, Danny. Both took my worn out over processed hair to my natural color while assigning in pigment and a deep condition. Who would have known that a walk in appointment would leave me feeling so pampered and cared for. Its clear the instructors care about the atmosphere and outcomes her as much as the staff on floor! Will be returning for sure!
Paul Mitchell the school Jacksonville Florida changed my life!!!! I will always be eternally grateful for the knowledge, experience and culture that is represented in a creative and innovative environment. Today I am a professional licensed stylist and I wear that badge with honor. Paul Mitchell has provided me with all of the tools that I need to carry on in the beauty / fashion industry and will forever be woven into the fabric of the person I am as a licensed professional.
Mu services were provided by Sierra. I went in for a full color lightening. I absolutely love how my color came out. She was great and her instructor Daniel was the greatest! They really made me enjoy my time there and kept me laughing. I will definitely be back again.
Couldn’t ask for a better job! I had not only such a fun experience while working with Elle and Camryn but they did an incredible job on my hair. I did not expect it to look this amazing. They both took their time and even used salon tricks to go above and beyond with my hair. I received SALON treatment for an amazing price. I normally spend anywhere from $190-250 on my hair and I spent less than half that at Paul Mitchell. I am definitely coming back to have these 2 do my hair again. I am super impressed and have received tons of comments and positive feedback. Thankyou Camryn and Elle for the amazing work!
This was my second visit. The first one didnt go so well. But I loved what I got done by Jewel during my second visit. She listened to what I wanted and made it happen. Ive gotten many compliments already on my hair. Im definitely going back again!
What an excellent experience I had at the Salon. The Salon is beautiful and my stylist was incredible. Only a week away from graduation she had everything under control. She listened to what I wanted and did an even better job than I had hoped for. All day long I got compliments on how great my hair looked. I will definately be back.
First time experiencing the Paul Mitchell School Saloon. I have always heard nothing but great reviews and remarks about the school and their work. So far my experience has been exceptional! Actually waiting for my color to lift cant wait to see how well the ladies did! With Deana being a great instructor and Erica being so thorough with the highlights. I have a wonderful feeling this will look amazing all thanks to these two ladies! #paulmitchell
I was seated with a phase two stylist, meaning she is close to graduating soon. While she was working on my hair she didnt inform me on what she was planning to do with it even though I just wanted my ends cut. More styling was done than cutting my hair itself. In all, my hair looks healthier but Im not sure how it would look on a daily basis without it being styled.
Ive been going to this place for almost a year now. So far the best student ive had is Ashley S. She has the PM potential to succeed in any PM salon she will be going to. She has the it as a PM hairstylist/hairdresser. Sad to see her move on since she is graduating in a few weeks. But sure wish her the very best in the trade. A lot of the instructors in the school have the talent and skills in PM thats why they are there. For the kind of service I get (haircut, color and highlights), the price is reasonable because if you go to a PM salon it would cost double or triple what youre paying for here.
Had a great haircut. I have naturally curly hair and finding a place that can even trim it correctly has been a issue. Well I decided to try the school and was wonderfully surprised. My stylist Katlyn Valentine did a wonderful job on getting my hair trimmed and looking amazing. I would say I am going to be making future hair appointments here.
I had a great experience today. Danielle Z was amazing. She took such great care with me and it was fun to talk to her. I usually go somewhere quick for a haircut but I was asked to give this a try. And I was very pleased. Cant say enough about Danielle Z!
I went to Paul Mitchell on 9/18/2015. I wasnt feeling my best and my hair frankly was a mess. The student that serviced my is Ashley Washington. first of all; she made my feel very welcome and comfortable. I honestly shared my concerns about my hair. She really listened without judgment which was very important to me. She explained our action plan to achieve healthy hair. Im extremely pleased with my hair and most importantly her wonderful, thoughtful service. She is very special. I will definitely see her again. Thank you so much Ashley!!!!!Sincerely;Lisa Carroll
I had a great experience! I wanted a basic haircut to make my hair healthier and she washed, cut and styled my hair exactly how I wanted. This was the first place Ive ever been where they didnt end up cutting off way more hair than I wanted! My stylist, Lauren, was willing to answer any questions I had and did a great job. I recommend trying it out!!
I got a cut and root color by a level 2 student. I was amazed at the level of talent of the level 2 students and the amazing teacher... I believe she is called a learning leader. Her name was Staci and she wad wonderful with the students and customers. Very pleased with the results!
I went in to get balayage worried it wouldnt come out right because of my past experiences. And due to the prior dyes I had put In my hair they did a test stand and were honest with me that the color wouldnt come out right. So instead of just doing it and keeping quiet about it they sent me home with a special shampoo to get the chemicals out and said to come back in 2 weeks. I know this is just something little but I really appreciated their honesty and good service.
I had Billy as my stylist last week and he was absolutely wonderful! He had amazing knowledge and helped me get the perfect new haircut and style I needed so i could look great for interviews. He was very attentive and he was genuinely a nice person. I loved talking to him while he did my hair and he explained everything he was doing and had wonderful creative ideas for my hair to look its best :) Truely enjoyed my experience there thanks to Billy! Highly recommend him!!
Was able to book a same day appointment for hair color and after 5 pm, which fit my schedule. Everyone Ive come in contact was very friendly! Prices are awesome! Ashley was my stylist and she is super duper nice!
I had read mixed things but I decided to give it a chance and so happy I did! I am new to Jacksonville and used to salons in NYC but was in desperate need of re-touches on my blonde highlights and a trim. I have fairly thick, wavy but fine medium-brown, previously dyed hair. The girls at the front desk were very energetic and sweet when I first came in and then I had a great stylist (Carolina)! Everyone was very professional; worked so hard to get it right; and I got a great result, perhaps better than my NY regular! I think it should be noted that they are still learning and if you are in a rush, not the place for you because they do have to check with their instructor but it really doesnt add that much extra time. I also have been to other teaching salons and have to say the instructors here were so helpful and great to the new stylists- great atmosphere! Overall, great experience and will definitely be highly recommended to everyone! Keep up the good work guys!
3 hours for a wash, trim and simple blow dry. The girl didn’t really seem to know what she was doing. She was coached the whole time. Additionally I was not informed that I was the girls first haircut off a manikin. Leaving, I did not get the layers I wanted, ran out of time to attempt bangs, and my hair feels fried! I feel like I left not a professional look. Very unhappy. Had to go home and shower and wash my hair to get moisture back into it.
I came with a positive attitude and tons of patience knowing that this is a school and that a student would be working my hair. However, the student I got was really not ready to work with clients. It seemed like it was her first time seeing hair. She didnt even know how to properly wash or brush it. She forgot to use conditioner after wash and almost pulled a chunk of my hair out when trying to brush it. When I asked to please use some kind of leave-in conditioner, she first could not find it, and then went back to the wash room and got regular rinse-off conditioner (!) and put it on my hair. She would have just left it there unless her supervisor came by and asked what the hell was in my hair. In short, I spent two hours (not exaggerating) there and we didnt even get to hair coloring that I came there for. I asked to just dry my hair and please let me go before she ruins it. After looking around I noticed there were many students like this that had no idea what they were doing. PLEASE PREPARE YOUR STUDENTS BETTER BEFORE THEY START WORKING WITH CLIENTS.Regarding the place itself, it looked quite chaotic, hair and dust everywhere. Things like shampoo, conditioner, and towels were missing, so students had to run around and look for them. Very crowded, too many people for such small space.I rarely leave negative reviews as I believe in second chances. However, I do believe that Paul Mitchell School in Jax needs to be revamped completely before they start providing good service.
I got my hair colored at PM School and it didnt turn out right. I called and told them and they had me come back in to correct it at no charge. It looks great now! Very nice people! I would definitely go back!
I went to Paul Mitchell school to get a curly perm Tuesday the 13th and so sorry I did. It started out good as the instructor helped the student roll my hair and made sure it was rolled right. When it was time to put the solution on she told him to saturate each curler and she left to help another student. When she came back she ask if he saturated each one and he said yes. Without checking she told him to put a cap over my hair for 15 minutes and she walked away. I had told them I had hard to curl spots and showed them where they were and that I wanted a curly curly (tight curl) perm. The student only ran the solution over the curl once. They finished the perm and the instructor checked the hard to curl spots and said they were ready. After everything was done the student left my hair sopping wet (never towel blotted it) and they told me how curly it was. Of course it was curly sopping wet and since I couldnt see the back I had to take their word for it. I didnt get home until late afternoon and when I looked at my hair in the back the troubled spots were worse than when I went in there and there are spots all over my head that didnt take and its not tight curls. I called them and they said they would give my name and phone number to I presume a manager and she would call me the next day. That same afternoon the instructor called me and I missed her call so I called back the nest day and they had gone on a field trip to another school. The person they told me would call me never called and the instructor called back. She told me my hair was curly when I left there and I told her because I couldnt see the back I had to take her word for it. The next day I went back in and talked to another instructor (as the one that was there with my perm wasnt there) and she told me they couldnt do anything for two weeks and it would cost me $15.00 to redo the places that didnt take. She also told me that if I had the whole head done over Id have to pay full price again. What a ripoff that is. I have to pay to fix their mistake? I told her to forget it and I would not say anything good about that school. She ask me is that fair and I ask her is it fair that I have to pay for their mess-up and walked out.
I have had a few of my stylists here graduate. I keep coming back because we are all students at one time or another, and we all continue to learn every day. When a student has a question, the instructors know exactly how to teach them what to do. Bring a book because learning takes time, and you will leave happy you chose the Paul Mitchel School!
I love this place!!! I have been coming here for a year now and they are amazing! Super friendly and knowledgeable! Prices are very affordable. I will recomended it 100%
Paul Mitchell is not only a great place to get an amazing education, but also a great place to receive awesome hair services. Every time I go I get exactly what I want, and I love the atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Excellent experience. First time visiting the school and I was very happy with my color and cut.
This salon is so easy to book an appointment with! Theyre also extremely friendly and accommodating--they greeted me as soon as I walked into the door and even went above and beyond to offer to call the other Paul Mitchell salon location Ive been going to in order to identify the specific color I have been using for my hair. I highly recommend this location!
I have been blessed today by two talented stylists, Jessica W. and Ashley N., who are truly awesome. I have natural hair and they were able to provide me with a fabulous look that I love. THEY ARE THE BEST!!!
I love coming here. All the stylists have been very nice and informative. The instructors are helpful and my overall experience was great. Chelsea F. is fantastic at doing a pixie cut!!
Such a pleasure to be treated so royally. I left feeling like a queen! The whole experience was very professional. I will come again to see Kylie and recommend her to my friends!
Naomi was my stylist and she did an excellent job! From someone who has a hard time trusting people doing my hair, she made me feel super comfortable and relaxed throughout the whole experience. Shes definitely going to be my go to now! 10/10 recommend :)
I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE THEY TOTALLY MESSED MY HAIR COLOR UP. I ASKED FOR RED THEY DYED MY HAIR PURPLE.UPDATE. WHEN I REACHED OUT TO THE EXECUTIVE SHE LET ME KNOW THAT THEY WOULD NOT REFUND ME AFTER CHEMICALLY DAMAGING MY HAIR. IF YOU ARE AFRICAN AMERICAN OR NATURAL THEY DO NOT SPECIALIZE IN OUR HAIR TYPE. SINCE I CANT POST THE EMAIL BUT THIS IS WHAT WAS SAID.Hi Jessica,......... I want to apologize in my delay in contacting you, I want to thank you for coming in to voice your concerns to me and providing feedback that I am able to use to coach our students and even the staff. I did get a chance to discuss with my director, and at this time we will not be able to provide a refund..............DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR HAIR
I received a marulaoil masque and asked for a blow-dry in which I didn’t want my hair flat ironed. I was told by the front desk associate speak with the instructor and it will be adjusted as I didn’t receive a style. However, when I went to pay they charged me for a blow-dry & style (smooth iron). I didn’t receive a style and my hair was not blown out straight. It was literally in a messy bun. I simply said, I didn’t want to leave with my hair dry. The supervisor did not bother to get up and address the situation at all, but instead yelled the price from a bench while she was laughing with friends. Although, I was displeased by the leadership team, I tipped the student and paid $30. They are so unprofessional and try to rip you off.
