Absolutely delicious food and great service. I highly recommend it..

Very good food! Feels like homemade and so fresh and big portions. We really enjoyed our dinner. You can also call them to make an order to not wait until its ready. One thing makes me think to go there not really often is price, I would tell its pricey for this area of the town. But ones a while nice to spoil yourself with real kebabs.

The Shawama sandwich was good didnt really care for the sauce.

So I’ve had to use the laundromat next door and today when I got out all I could smell was the delicious food sneaking out of their front door. I went in to happy smiling faces and a very cute little store. They have so many different snacks and grocery items that I will be returning to try. The food I ordered was a Steak Shawarma plate and let me tell you it is fantastic! I also got a Falafel plate and these are by far the best ones I’ve had in Jax! They are so crispy and crunchy on the outside and so fluffy on the inside. I can’t wait to get more food to try from Damascus!

The chicken shawarma wrap is good but can be dry sometimes. Last time I called I asked if they could add vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, onions) they said yes but then they didnt and the chicken was pretty dry, maybe they forgot the garlic sauce too. Ive been here a dozen times and sometimes its perfect and sometimes its dry.

My wife and I had lunch here and shared the Mix Grill plate. Big plate of two kabob skewer and one Sheesh skewer served under a bed of Kobsa rice. It was delicious and the sauce on the meats was flavorful. On our prior visit, we had the chicken and steak shawarma plate. Enjoyed that too. We also had a piece of bread, but it wasn’t fresh.

This is our second time here and the food is still absolutely delicious! We ordered the Mixed Grill Plate. It has 2 kabob skewers and 1 Sheesh Skewer (Chicken) with Kabsa Rice! They were so flavorful I could lick the plate lol! The serving was pretty large too so my husband and I shared the meal. We also tried their bread, I forgot what they call it, but it was just okay. Taste good but not soft.I also noticed that they offer Guatemalan dishes. The lady at the counter said it’s like Mexican food. Will try it on our next visit!

This is one of our favorite places to go for Middle Eastern Food. It just feels like home! We finally lucked out and came in when they had ice cream and it was worth the wait! Every time we go the food is so good it ends up being the only meal of the day. The gentleman that owns it is so accommodating and takes such good care of us when we come in. You’re missing out if you don’t add this to your Jax restaurant bucket list.

Great people, FANTASTIC food! You cant go wrong eating here. Grocery store is also great if youre looking for middle eastern imports. Very friendly staff, very reasonably priced! We will be ordering from here a lot.

They have Guatamalan food now as well as Middle Eastern. Its pretty fantastic. I had the churasco. They gave me homemade corn tortillas which were not too thin and not ur normal dry ones. Cant say enough about this place. They keep surprising me with the quality of their food. Their grocery store oart is pretty cool too. Get the keifer labneh. U wont eat cream cheese on bagels again

My first taste of Arabic cuisine was fantastic! Kabob chicken was full of flavor and delicious. All made in house. Ray, is friendly and professional. An awesome experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!

Great food

Unethical. The prices he displays are not what he charges. He charges more without you paying attention. I heard about the owner doing this 2 times before I went- I was not expecting it to happen to me, in front of my eyes. Please go somewhere else where business is more honest.

These guys are the best, I eat here more often now. Great original food and an amazing customer service, I even tried one of their French bakery for free. Thank you guys keep it up.

Great family own restaurant for everyone. The menu is great with great portions. The staff is pleasant and respectful. Will recommend it to anyone. If you are in the Jacksonville area ensure to stop by, you won’t retreat it.

Not sure why this is called Damascus Gate. Its more of a Hispanic store not authentic arabic food.

Went for lunch today. Food and presentation was fantastic. Service was excellent and the most friendly ever. Was a great experience and food was authentic.

My husband and i went in for the first time and were sat down and given like 4 huge samples. Would’ve kept going if we didn’t have to head back to work. Felt very welcoming and the food was amazing. We’ll be back

Delicious food - we got the lamb platter and steak shawarma plate. Also got a side of the falafel. Everything was delicious, especially the lamb!The hospitality of the owner is by far the best I’ve experienced in Jacksonville. He made it a warm dining experience like we were guests in his home. The chef also checked in to see how we enjoyed our food.We will be back!

The nicest people EVER!! Get the gyros, you wont be sorry. Tiny dining room with only two tables, sooooo worth it to stay and eat and soak up the scents and the goodwill. They also sell middle eastern spices, condiments and delicacies (buy your sesame seeds here!), and Turkish coffee accoutrements. They told us theyll have Grand Opening soon, so watch for the tent!!

I went last week with my kids to eat there for the first time and we absolutely loved everything, the food and the people working there are absolutely amazing!! The kids really loved the food, the rice with chicken and the shawarma were to die for! I absolutely recommend it!

Met a few friends at Damascus Gate for a bite and chat. Food is great at this little midle eastern joint. We enjoyed authentic Syrian cuisine and drinks. Owners are very inviting and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Will go back for sure.

This place is seriously AMAZING! My husband got the beef shawarma and I had the chicken shawarma. I cant say enough wonderful things about the flavoring of the meat and the beautiful presentation of the meal itself. Our daughter snacked on the hummus (SO GOOD!) and we topped off our meal with baklava and croissants. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. You will not be disappointed with the incredibly friendly service, laid back atmosphere and DELICIOUS food!

I dont know. Ive been there a few times now. They have this fresh, spreadable cheese, and fresh extra thin pitas.... Its addictive like crack. Also, I got some sort of baklava-esque dessert that I am unfamiliar with made with an egg custard filling and rose syrup that I highly recommend.

I will come back anytime to this place. It is very small but, I felt very welcomed and almost like family. Food was great and fresh.

Their food is really good. However, just like most Arabs who want the maximum profits for the minimum expenses.. You should expect to wait for 15 minutes to get a Falafel sandwich to go after you place your order over the phone in advance.

This is one of those reviews that, if 10 stars were available, they would get it! The owner could not be any more humble, gracious and professional; not to mention a truly great chef. They make many dishes to order (especially fresh!), so there may be a bit of a wait, but it is well worth it; and you can always order ahead for easy pick up. I am a repeat customer for the falafel (sandwich and plate), tabbouleh, lentil soup, and humus - they are the best in the city, hands down. I am looking forward to trying the spinach pies. The attentive customer service matches the great food and there is a small but well stocked market for unique middle eastern delectables. It is a treat to find such authentic, fresh Arabic food here in Jacksonville!

This place was amazing, special, spectacular, delicious, apply any synonyms for praise. I can only guess the owner is who we dealt with when ordering and delivering of food. Ol’ boy was the nicest guy you’ll ever meet and his food is the most delicious you’ll ever taste. He was just glad we were there. The falafel is tasty, the hummus is tasty. I had the special, my parents the shawarma and beef and chicken kebab. Don’t let the humble presentation deter you.

Great asset to the community! I lived in the middle east for 10 years and missed some dishes you cannot find in a restaurant here in Jacksonville.I asked them if they could make them for my family to take home and they did! Everything there is authentic and fresh.

Best shawarma ive had in Jacksonville, probably best one ive had in the states.

Their home made Syrian ice cream is to die for! You can taste the natural ingredients all the while bursting with flavor. Their cheese pastry is also very delicious with a perfect balance of salty and sweet cheese.

The people are friendly, the food is AMAZING and the portions are twice what you would expect. Count me a regular

If you are looking for fake middle Eastern food dont bother come here because this is the real thing.the food is extremely authentic coming from me who is a food critic it is fresh made to order so you may have to wait but dont get upset if you do wait because people wait for the best things this is not a fast food place warm-hearted people truly authentic people good people produce good excellent excellent middle Eastern food I tried the falafel I tried their bakery items I tried their shish kabob I tried their chicken shawarma I cannot find a single flaw this is so good and dont forget to pick up from their refrigerator there daily hummus and their daily labneh.I challenge anyone on this area to come even close to the taste and authenticity.
